Adoptable Storage and Changing ROMs. help! - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Questions & Answers

Before I begin, here's my setup :
Redmi 2 8GB w/ LP firmware
AICP 12.1 w/ Zetsubou kernel
Data and Cache in F2FS format while System is EXT4
16GB SanDisk UHS 1 Class 10 used as adoptable storage
Okay now that you know my specs, here's my issue.
Because I have the 8GB Variant of the device, I had to use adoptable storage (it works perfectly right now). But now I want to change ROM from AICP to LineageOS. So the question is
Will I run into any issues if I jump to LOS without wiping internal storage, external storage and Data?

Wiping Data is must coming from another rom.

But one suggestion don't change to Lineage OS for now. Stay on whatever you are now. If you want replacement then I will suggest MOKEE as on both changes to code are same and it have some extra basic features (Not like RR). I am currently on Lineage OS will switch back to MOKEE again after my exams.

[Q] No free memory on HD2

Hello,
I have a problem with my HD2 Android phone. I have installed Android on NAND. Everything works fine, but I can't install apps because I don't have any memory left. I have just installed 2 apps . If I want to play music, I have to delete all the Youtube data first.
I had tried an other Android NAND version before this one, but it froze at startup. I just installed a other NAND version and it works, but I did not delete the other version. Maybe that the problem? Can anybody help me out?
Thanks,
Wouter
what rom are you currently using?
I am using HTC Runnymede
I recommemd to you making ext4 format on your SD
Data will move to ext4 if rom support to D2Ext
Did u partitioned memory card?

I don't know what that means. I am not really technical...
I don't know of it is partitioned. Is there a way to check it?
Thanks

This is the link for the instructions on how to properly install Android on NAND on HD2. I would start from scratch, making sure that you don't skip anything. With a little creative Googling, I was able to find a file called the 'HD2 Toolkit' that gave me all of the programs that I needed to follow the tutorial easily, and make the proper adjustments to my SDCard. Also, using App2SD is a VERY good idea. Although I personally did not run into the same issues that you are having, it seems to me that you've skipped a step somewhere. Good luck!
To add to the above post, yea using ap2sd IS a good idea, most roms support it or a variant of it automatically,,,if they find an ext partition they will use it, so don't go thinking you need to install and configure it, its all automatic.
First time it did not boot. Lets try it again...
Yes! I got it working with RUNNYMEDE 1.11.1113.1 - Sense 3.5 [v2.1][HierOS 1.8.5 noBTfix-2wcr. I will install App2SD and see what it does.
Thank you all for your help!!
Hi. I've got MIUI build 111250 of Android 237, using MagLdr 1.13 and HD2 Toolkit. Despite the options in the HD2 Toolkit to increase the memory on the system partiton, I just can't get all of that memory. I think the best I got was about 300MB. Yes I use Apps2SD... thank God, but I've run out again and wish I could access that last 200MB. Can anyone advise on this?
---------- Post added at 08:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 PM ----------
BTW. I don't want To dual boot to Windows at all. Is there some way/requirement for deleting the Windows partiton? I've already done a wipe before doing the repartition.

dont forget your system partition,. boot partition, cache partition, recovery partition dont show on teh total internal space. only the data partition counts towards it, so that 200 meg you mentioned will be those other partitions.
Hi, guys,
I can't post in the dev forums, so I'm posting here.
I've just flashed the ICS rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267 on my HD2 and I've left 42 MB of space.
From my experience with my other phone, a Desire, that'll be gone in like a week, event if I don't install big apps, just the basics like Facebook, some data these apps store and so on.
Bottom line, I've formated my SD with an ext4 partition, but I was wondering which Apps2SD app is supported by ICS, as I've tried a few and none worked.
Thanks.
PS: and of course, the most crucial part is that I can't install Field Runners, because the market app says I don't have enough space.

I use the Typhoon rom too. And used it without flashing anything else for about 4 months .
Anyways, this rom already comes with an a2sd script. U dont need link2sd. The default script in the rom mounts the ext partition. I suggest u uninstall link2sd, and try rebooting. But i think people will probably have better suggestions

And wait a minute, you partitioned ur sd card Twice? once with the recovery, then with the minitool partition wizard?

[Q] my first smart phone

i just got my first smart phone
its samsung galaxy y
now the first thing i want to do it root it so that i can have some fun
so last night i did a little research about advantages & dis advantages of rooting
& i found that if rooting is not done perfectly it can convert my phone into brick
i mean it will become useless
is that true ??
& i have some more questions
we all know that galaxy y suck
low ram , low internal memory , old android version
after rooting i can increase everything but its safe ???
using a part of sd card as ram , as internal & external memory at same time ????
m not sure its safe or not
& even if its save what class SD card should a buy ???
i am thinking to but a 16 GB class 10 sanddisk micro sd card is it ok ???
& the partition will be
m assuming that 14 Gb will be usable space
i will use 4 GB as ram , 5 GB as internal & will use left space as external storage
is that possible ??
Yes it is possible. I think you should buy 16 gb class 10 sd card remember class 10 sd card. Dont worry all galaxy y models supports 32 gb sd card also.
* for increasing your ram go here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2321149 it works with all galaxy y models.
For increasing your internal memory go here- http://rootmyandroid.org/increase-internal-memory-phone.html it also works with all galaxy y models.
** but for doing all these must be rooted.

If you bricked your phone then just flash a stock rom means just flash a original os of your phone via odin. you can download stock rom for your phone from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash it via odin.

& then what will happen to inbulit storage & ram ?? does they get affected ??
any chance of damage to sd card if i do this ??
Yes you can use both at same time and there is no chance to damage your sd card.

increasing your inbuilt memory is not that your inbuilt memory will incerased but it moves all the apps, obb, data, etc to your sd card. I have sent you a link that how to increase internal memory see that.

It's a bug in the kernel if you are using the cm7 kernel
It shows system is mounted when it's not
Unmount system and remount system
Make sure you format system then mount system
-Unmount system and mount it again
However as you are flashing hyperion 9 which is stock based you should be using a stock based kernel
Either way the reason why it only flashes for 1 sec is because system is not mounted
If system is mounted it will display "Unmount System"
If it says "Mount System" select it so it changes to "Unmount System"

Very less internal storage

Hi friends, just this morning I clean flashed xiaomi.eu ROM in my lavender 32gb version. I wiped everything even the internal storage for a smooth start. After the boot I checked to see how much storage we actually get and it was just 20 GB out of 32 GB. 6-7 GB for system is understandable but 12 GB reserved for system seems too much... Is there any way to access that unusable storage?? Or can we decrease that reserved storage?
System use 12gb, is normal there's nothing to do, it's not android 4
It's a heavily modified aosp code,i recommend convert to other aosp roms.

Fastest file system/format settings

A while ago I started following the LOS 17,1 thread and saw a post about the storage reading speeds and was amazed how fast it was because when I did the test on my klteduos it only reached about half that speed.
What file system for each partition + external SDcard do you recommend for optimal performance? All internal to F2FS instead of Ext4?
I'm planning on upgrading to LOS 17.1 (and later 18) in case that's important. See my attached screenshots below.
I'm referring to this thread:
[OFFICIAL] LineageOS 17.1 for Galaxy S5 klte + Variants
Edit: FYI the LineageOS S5 klte family maintainer created a new thread here: [ROM][OFFICIAL][11] LineageOS 18.1 for Samsung Galaxy S5 (klte*) *** #include "std_disclaimer.h" /* * Your warranty is now void. * * I am not responsible for bricked...
forum.xda-developers.com
I don't think your external SD card would be close to internal memory speed even if you format it to EXT4 or F2FS.
I have Data formatted to F2FS and the phone loads apps much faster compared to EXT4 (as far as I can tell). If I recall correctly, you cannot use F2FS for system partition, because it simply won't boot. As for internal storage, I have it as EXFAT just to be accessible on Windows PC (I have no idea, if you can reformat it).
My phone is G900F, running latest Lineage 17.1 official build.
Reformatting is easily done through TWRP, so it's easy to experiment, just don't forget about backups (save them on your pc, if you gonna mess with Internal partition)
