So i would like to expand my internal storage by using a micro sd card but iv read that smasung does not support this on thier devices (no idea why they wont ) so are there any custom roms that will "unlock" this feature or gain access to this? thanks in advance

ashyx made an adoptable storage enabler for any samsung device

Help| "move to sd card" is missing!

Hello everyone!
I got the Samsung galaxy S4 i9500 international version.
I put a 32gb micro sd card of SanDisk and it works fine.
The only problem is that I want to install apps on the sd card and I can't because I dont have the "move to sd card" option.
I saw some videos that show how the "move to sd card" is available without any root to the device...
Thanks a lot for helping!

You do realize that the "move to sd" option doesn't really Dave you any appreciable space, right? It will only relocate the apk and will leave the app or game's data intact in its original location.

You can try using Folder Mount or one of the similar third party apps to move the data to your external sd card and create symlinks from the original location to the new one.

From what I've read some phones doesn't have this option as google locks it up, only some Motorola and Htc phones has this option. While on Samsung, they've added this option on S7 and S7edge.
So not sure if the Dev's working on this or they removed it from the port, then that I do not know.

[PATCH]**Adoptable storage enabler** MARSHMALLOW

As you may all know Samsung disabled the Adoptable storage function in the Tab S and Tab S2. Even the well known S7 hack doesn't work on the Tab S.
Well now it's back...
Thanks to some legwork (no pun intended) by @longshanks197 we now have a workable solution.
I have created this patch to fix the issue by patching the boot image and replacing sm.jar in system.
This will enable the adoptable storage feature in Settings>Storage
NOTE: as yet this is untested on the S2 but should work as it does on the Tab S. Someone please report back with info.
I advise making a backup with TWRP before proceeding.
INSTALL:
Copy the zip below to your device then install with TWRP.

For information how to enable adoptable storage see the guide below:

What's wrong with the S7 hack? It's worked fine for a couple people in my ROM thread...
This enables it natively in settings.

What do you mean mean it doesn't work?
The patch works. I am using my Tab S2 9.7in root. Brilliant work. I love the little message "Samsung loses again" in the description when downloading.
It does absolutely nothing.it does'nt enable storage feature in setting storage.

Once installed, did you tap on the card in the STORAGE section where it says "corrupt"? Or did you try a new card? I've tried with a 128gb (which was already in my device as a first test) and a 64gb which I am currently using.
Yes, i tapped on the card in the storage section.it doesn't says corrupt. My card was already in my device as mobile storage before flashing this patch. When i click on my sd card, i have two options: unmount and format. When i click on format it says: format as mobile storage. Sorry for my bad english my device is in french and i don't speak english very well

how make sd card as default internal storage in s8?

I bought a 128GB memory card while I was using it as internal storage, but this option is not available.
please help
AFAIK Samsung disabled android's adoptable storage function on its phonres. Were you using your sd card as inernal storage on another phone?

Yes, HTC allows that. Samsung removed that option because of the changes they made to their custom kernel.
What aboot the "force allow apps on external" setting in dev options? Wouldn't this allow apps to be installed on the sdcard first?

I think this should work
There is a build.prop for it that is off in stock. Regardless there's nothing stopping you from doing this as root so rooted the answer is definitely yes. As for rootless I don't think it's possible unfortunately.

Using sd card as Galaxy TAB A sm-t595 internal storage

Hi to you all, i been trying to use a sd card as the main storage on my sm-t595 without any success and now the internal storage is about full even though i moved some apps over to the sd card,
now my big question is if i root the sm-t595 will i be able to set the sd card as main storage in any way?
i don't care about warranty issues as i bought this a while back,
thanks in advance for any help provided
any way to achieve this?

No. This is asked quite often and the answer is always no, because it is a BAD idea. The SD card is MUCH slower than internal memory and if you succeeded in running apps from it you'd start complaining about how "laggy" the tablet is. The Tab A line is Samsungs "economy" line of tablets and aren't designed for "gaming". (And gaming is the only thing that requires that kind of internal storage.) If you really require more than 32gb of internal, your only option is to buy a tablet that has more.
