Hello I have a Bolt and I am having problems with my SD card. I insert it and the phone recognizes it and mounts it as portable storage. I then format the card as internal storage which seems to work ok. Then I attempt to migrate data and the phone hangs up at 0% and never appears to actually migrate data.
I do not think the problem is the SD card, as I insert it into another phone and it works fine as internal storage. I have tried multiple cards in my Bolt and have the same issue. This is the card https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HU3Q6F2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
any help would be appreciated.
You card may not be good enough to format as internal try putting it in and formatting as external I believe it has encryption I had to format card with phone then add my files

Considering this is a UHS-I Card, You shouldn't have any problems.
One thing I will recommend is formatting it twice. Format as internal then reformat as portable, reboot, and reformat as internal and then try migrating your data. That usually did the trick for me. I had issues with these SanDisk Cards though so be careful. I've had two of them die on me already. I RMA'd those and I am awaiting a exchange but I went and got a Samsung SD card as a replacement and haven't had any issues since. For some reason, I've always had to format all my cards twice for adoptable storage to properly work, regardless of device.
Edit: UHS-3. Those Speeds tho ?

I have a 2gb SD card that was working, but I thought I would be clever and use the SD reader in my Tosh so that I could transfer large files more easily to the card for my exec. But when I was asked to format my card by Toshiba's software, I went through the process and thought it was successful. But then at end of process the phrase "Please stop a SD memory card, then insert the card again" came up, so took card out, re-entered it in the reader and tried to attempt to transfer files to it. However windows then told me that it was not formatted and would I like to format it. So yes, I do, but although windows formatted it, it reduced the capacity from 2gb to 956 mb or thereabouts. It was recognised by the exec again, but with severe consequences as never bought a 1 gb card.
Help please...
Sounds to me like your card reader doesn't read cards bigger than 1 GB. I had the same issue with my 4 GB card. Tried it with a different reader and the PC saw all 4 gigs, never asking me to format. See if you can try a newer SD card reader?
The same thing happened to me with a 1 gigabyte pcmcia card. It was working fine in my laptop then I put it in the card slot on an Ipaq and it also did a format. The card is now exactly half the memory it should be and no way can I get it to work as a 1 gig card even though I have tried formatting on the pc.
I have found that my 2GB card formatted on my Palm LifeDrive was not readable on my laptop. When I formatted using a Toshiba format utility the space on the card was down to 1GB. It did work okay on my JJ. I had to re-format it on my Palm and then for reason it was okay again and could be read by my laptop - I did not use any card readers as the laptop has a built-in reader. And I re-formatted on my laptop using XP format softwsre and the 2GB storage was retained.
@Wannabe, have you got access to another PC or card reader to reformat your card. Also I found WM5 file managers could not reformat and regain the lost capacity
been on to Tosh
Toshiba are extremely helpful...not! Told me to get another card and see if that works as it might not accept the card. This is a Sandisk card which I believe is made by Toshiba...or at least in collaboration. Am going to check Sandisk for an answer as well...keep the ideas coming please
Hi there.
Try reading this post i made ages ago about formatting and re-newing your sd cards. It might help. It is regarding my 512mb sd card, but the principles are the same.

I strongly recommend using media recover, even if it's only a trial version to "wipe" your sd card to re-new it to it's factory condition. It covers and re-formats the whole card sector by sector.

Give it a go and let us know.

If none of the other suggestions work then try this program that I posted on another thread:-
SDFormatter.zip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30900&highlight=
Use it with a card reader, follow instructions and your PPC should be able to read the full capacity.
SanDisk have taken back card...
Thanks for the suggestions, will keep in mind for future. Sandisk took back the card and found that it had become corrupted so have sent out another one. tks for suggestions though.
I have a 2gb storage card that use to work before I bricked my phone. So, I sent it to Cingular for them to fix it and they did. But now I am trying to install back the files I had on my 2gb storage card and its not showing up on the phone. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
i would try another sdcard
try the sdcard in a sdcardreader
if both resulted in failure i would say that
they by fixing 1 thing broke another
I think they replaced the motherboard. I dont know if they gave me a defective one.
i am having the same problem...Ive had my storage card for quite a while now and had 1g of memory used up and now all of a sudden none of my music or photos that are on the card are being shown. It still detects my storage card and that the space is used but i cant find the files anywhere.

Removing and re-inserting the card as well as performing a soft reset can make vanished files re-appear. However it depends whether there is corruption on the card.
Does the card work using a card reader on the PC?
If it does and you have tried the above, then I would copy everything from the card to the PC, reformat the card and then put everything back again. If the PC does not see all the files either then you may, if it's worth it, try some software to recover files from the corrupted card. (This os often not 100% successful, but worth a try of there is something vital on there).

I have 3 8525's that are not detecting the 2G memory card when it is inserted. I have to perform a soft-reset in order for the device to recognize it. I now the cards are good because they work in my Axim.
I have 4 2G memory cards doing this which are Kingston & Sandisk. Two of the SanDisk cards are brand new.
Are there any known issues?
I have this problem as well. I'm not sure what the source is.
I cannot even get it to work with a soft reset though.
The card I have is a 1Gb Kingston, and it definitely works because I tested it on my computer.
I guess I'll Just call Cingular when I have a bigger problem at hand.
2gb sandisk card on 8525
I used to have this proem on a brand new card. I would put it in and nothing would happen. But insert in my PC, and it works. What I did was format it to fat32 (from the factory installed FAT) put it in the 8525 and it showed up. Just to test again, tried formatting back to FAT and didn't work again. back to FAT32 and no more probs. Hope it helps for you guys.
Hi,
I recently bought a 4GB SDHC card for my Hermes (Josh's V15 WinterRom Light). Everything seemed to work just fine, but after a couple of hours data on the card started to randomly disappear. File explorer shows empty directories. When I insert the card into PC with Linux I can read the data, but the system reports corruption and all the files are read-only.
I tried lowering TransferBlockSize in the registry but this only delayed the data loss. Is there anything else I can do or is this card faulty?
bump!
bump!
anyone?
Could be the card, especially if you had another sd card and didn't have this problem. I'd do a backup on PC, format sd card FAT32 again an then restore the info. If it still seems to leach the data away then I'd get the sd card replaced with a new sd card.
Cheers...
Also use a can of compressed air to clean out the sd card slot on your Hermes, may help, may not but it will eliminate a suspect that the sd card reader needs to be cleaned.
I did format the card several times with FAT32. It was only a matter of time for data loss to appear.
Hermes worked fine with 1GB SD card. I did not have any problems using the 4GB SDHC in my laptop but then again maybe it wasn't used frequently enough.
Hi all,
So my SD card recently kept unmounting itself from my phone, and I've been allowed to get a full refund as it's a known compatibility issue with SanDisk cards and S4.
The problem here is that I cannot format my card using most means (through PC, MAC, Phone, and DSLR). The card is currently using exFAT. It mounts to my system fine, I can see all files stored perfectly, although whenever I delete the files individually and remount my SD card, all the files appear again!!
Through PC, I have used Disk Management, EaseUS Partition Manager.
Through MAC, I've used Disk Utility, SD Card Formatter v3.
At the moment, i don't feel comfortable in sending it back, with personal data easily accessible.
Anyone have any other methods / ideas?
Thanks!
GUIFormat ?
Same issue here. if anyone finds a solution pm me or reply
Sandisk messed up and make faulty card. It seem this only happened to 64gb SDXC card. I already had mine replaced under warranty 1 time and then after a while it's acting up again. So I ditch that card and buy the other brand.

Hi everyone,
i have a G900F running on the current version of the ALEXNDR Rom, rooted, Knox 0x1, Android 6.0.1.
I have my SD card formatted as (mixed) adoptable storage (via adb), so I have 50% of space as SD card memory, 50% as adoptable storage.
And now for the problem: The SD card is repeatedly shown as "damaged". As soon as I put it into my PC, it'll work without any problems, but the SGS5 will work for quite a time with it, and then suddenly shows it as damaged and will not mount it unless you format it. It usually happens when a larger amount of data is written to the card.
So I thought that the card might really be damaged (was an old and small and slow one) and went vor a SanDisk Extreme 64GB card - same thing here. Then I read about some problems with Samsung devices and SanDisk cards (may the be true or not, I dont know) and swapped it for a Samsung 32 GB Pro SD card - same thing here.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it? Or will the adoptable storage just not work?
In addition: I could reproduce this when I was downloading Videos to the SD card from Amazon Prime Video for offline use. Seems that a) this is a large amount of data and b) split into thousands of small files. I dont know if its the number of files or the amount of data, but when I deleted the folder on my PC and put the card back into the phone, it suddenly worked perfectly again. Any ideas on this?
Hey there how are you?
I recently have had an issue with my samsung 128 sd card that was formated in a 50/50 mix from adb too.
As the sd card was formatted in exfat I posted an issue on the exfat home page. https://github.com/relan/exfat/issues/49 I was provided with advice on my mac on how to reformat it using the dd command. This was the only command that I came across which gave me an input output error indicating a hardware issue on the sd card.
I have since purchased a new sd card. I'm thinking of formatting it as either an ext4 format or f2fd format to see whether this makes an impact of its longevity.
Hope this helps.
