Sounds defective to me. Prior to creating a thread to complain, then attacking the first to respond stating his has been fine, have you tried to contact support yet and maybe try to setup an RMA? Mine has been fine too.
Yup mines good as well.

When I worked at Best Buy, the LG 4K OLED TVs would get some serious burn-in from the demo video we had looping constantly. The LG rep told us to throw a flash drive in the TV and have it display a totally white screen for a few hours. We did it overnight and it worked. I suppose it's worth a shot on your phone, I'm sure there's an app for it. Overnight probably isn't necessary but a few hours should do.
Either way I'd try to RMA it because itll most likely happen again.
Just RMA'd through VZW, for burn in. Hopefully they send one prior to the 7.1.1 update, so I'm able to unlock the bootloader.
I automatically run a screen burn-in tool for 90 minutes everyday while I'm sleeping. I've had this phone since its release and not a bit of burn-in. I do it so I don't have to take the chance of having to get a VZW replacement that I might not be able to unlock.

Burn in is caused by leds being used more than the leds around them. By running a burn in tool you are just prematurally aging all your leds to try to make them match. Overall your just ending up with a dimmer display.

Earlier last month my volume buttons stopped working. I just received a replacement for my Pixel XL yesterday, it came with the original 7.1 on it. I was able to unlock the bootloader and root without issues. Although as soon as the phone booted up and activated it downloaded 7.1.1 and wanted to update, I turned it off immediately and unlocked and flashed a google stock rom.
Same burn in issue here on my Pixel XL from launch day.. Just got a replacement last week for it. May be going overboard, but on the new one I am using navbar apps, screen brightness at 50%, adaptive brightness set to on, gmd immersive app running to control most of my apps that give me the most on screen time which makes the status bar and navbar go away during this time.. Hoping it won't happen again - pretty frustrating to say the least..
I've had mine since launch and can't see any burn in at all. I've always left my phone at 50% with auto. I use it outside fine with these settings.

I had only owned my Epic a week and this is what happened to the screen! I thought I was seeing things at first, then it got BAD. My wife captured this short video with her Evo before I took it in and traded it for a new unit.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm almost 2 weeks into my replacement unit and everything's fine so far.
That screen seems faulty to me.
Edit:
Or maybe even a loose wire?

Looks like a connector to the screen may have been loose :/..
I had it happen. Took it back and exchanged it even though after rebooting it appeared fine. I believe it was an overheating graphics processor (I've had similar happen on a computer).
At first, the guy at Best Buy was hesitant to replace it. I told him I didn't mind if he did a hard reset on it so he could rule out a software conflict (personally, I was confident it was hardware-related). Less than 3 minutes after being reset it was doing it again.
Now, I'll probably root it have some real fun!

I've had a similar issue, except much more subtle. Best way I can describe it: There will be random changing horizontal color bars that overlay on top of what is on the screen at about 90% transparency. It looks like something is interfering with the video output to the AMOLED. This only happens when the phone appears to be processing something like the loading screen for the Android Market or during the melody test in the *#0*# menu. It also appears to be related somehow to the battery charge level. The lower the charge, the more the effect. I'm just noting this issue here, and kind of wondering if anyone else has this issue. It doesn't really bother me at all, to be honest.

I think I was having the same problem.
It only seemed to happen when the battery was nearly depleted, and even then only when the screen was on high brightness and displaying nearly all white.
Seems to me like at low charge levels the battery can't supply enough power to keep most of the pixels white at high brightness, so it starts getting distorted.
Go to sprint service and repair store and open a ticket. They will either charge you $35 or it will be free if you're under tep, so long that you have no liquid on the device and it's not rooted. I'm a tech at one of the stores.

I bought my Moto X around the end of September and about two weeks after getting it, I had a screen burn-in from the notification bar and navigation bar. I let Motorola know and they happily replaced it. However few weeks after owning the second one I experienced the issue again and I let them know. They told me they were stunned and that I was literally the only person who had reported the issue.
What I am wondering is if anyone else has experienced this. I know it is a common problem with AMOLEDs, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon.

I saw burn in on a display model at Best Buy. It was the big Motorola M logo that displays at the boot animation. If you looked at a white web page or any solid, but light colored image, you could see the ghostly circle the size of a quarter complete with the swishy M in the middle of the screen. Got them to open a second demo model and boot it up so I could see a clean screen and bring it to their attention. Weird thing to have burned in, too.

Op did you leave both phones display on for 2weeks straight at 100% brightness? Lol
I have had mine for 2 months, do at least 4 hours sot daily, most of which is on reddit and xda, so nav and status are almost always static... I have zero sign of burn in.
I had it pretty good on my s3, but I blame ingress for that... Being outside playing so much and had it at 100% brightness because that screen was so dark... Even then it took at least 2 months before I saw any burn in and I was playing A LOT!
Can't imagine how you would get burn in on two devices, each in two weeks... Seems like that's a feat that you have to try and do, lol.

I'd be hard pressed to believe this as well... I've had numerous amoled devices and abused the crap out of them and even then, it took months to get any sort it noticeable burn in... If it were one device then I wouldn't second guess it, chalk it up to manufacture defect... But two in a row? I'm curious as to what the op uses his phones for and if he ever turns off the screens... Even store display models take a while to get burn in and they are on 3-4 times as much as a typical power user.

I'll have to send you a pic of my GNex then, so you can see the perfect "ghost" of a Pandora logo in the middle of the screen from running the display full time in my car dock.
I also remember similar complaints when the GNex first came out, of people claiming they were getting burn-in on the notification bar area, and I thought they were ridiculous at the time. Now, not so much.
It happened to my gnex, so I'm not surprised that it happened on this phone too.
I'm not saying you're faking it, but 2 weeks is a little too soon for it to be happening. The gnex only had the issue after a year or so. Are you keeping the display on all the time when charging or something?
They will eventually burn in if you set the screen to never time out and leave it displaying the same thing for hours or days on end. Most store models have some level of burn it. In normal use cases it should never be an issue though.

Just passing by, but 2 weeks is entirely possible.
If you keep using the phone with the notification bar displayed and then two weeks later open a full screen browser, you will most likely notice burn in if you look close enough.
It's extremely easy to do.
I bought an S3 from ebay with real bad screen burn in (that the seller didn't mention). She actually didn't believe me and accused me of scamming her until I replied back with a contact name and number that was burned into the top of the screen from the messaging app (the keyboard was also burned in, I guess she constantly texted this person).
I think burn in is more likely to happen when brightness is higher. I had a GNex and GS3 that never got any sort of burn in but I also rarely had the brightness above 50%.
you know, now that I look, I have it too. It's faint, and I thought it was from the Nova Launcher beta, but ****, this is screen burn in. Damn.
---------- Post added at 05:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:13 PM ----------
I don't even use my phone that much. Generally around 1.5 or 2 hours screen time per day. Brightness is about half. Kinda crazy.
Recommend using an app such as:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.feetstech.screenburn&hl=en
to minimize this. Most plasma TV's have something like this built in as they are also prone to burn-in. Use it for 10 minutes every once in a while (even if you don't see burn in) and it should prevent it.
I got screen burn in on my S4 after 2 months. But I also blame ingress for that. I have a X coming and hope to minimize that by not playing ingress so much or play on another device. One thing that I do for the status bar to help out is with nova launcher I have it set to swipe the notification bar on top away. I try to leave it off the screen as much as possible. But yes amoled screens suck for burn in.
I usually turn my phone to the 270 degree position to have the navigation bars switch sides every now and then. That helps a bit.
And with AMOLEDs, it's more important to turn off the screen when not in use rather than let it time out. I have mine set to 10 minutes, but I usually manually turn off the screen because I know AMOLEDs are prone to burn-in over time.
So I have had this issue of one spot in upper right corner that is way brighter than any other. Not a dead but maybe over voltage in the display to that pixel. Its not really bothering me but its there. So I am wondering 11-13 is return deadline through amazon. Should I return it? Will this progressively get worse or is there no way to know. Will post pic if necessary. Also its only really noticeable on a white screen background.

I know how it feels I got the same on the bottom of the screen and asked for a return since I couldn't solve it anyway. By the way, it's called an hot pixel. I think you should do the same, it's an opportunity, at least for that kind of money I expect a phone to deliver integrity of its parts. If you liked the phone you will be able to rebuy, even with the chance of buying cheaper

Probably not the best type of thread but it's for anyone who has faced any issues or defects with Pixel XL. When I'm expected to fork out £819 for a top end of phone I don't really expect any types of defects.
Overall I'm quite pleased with the phone but I've noticed the pulse notification light is bit odd. Green colour is perfect but red or orange colours show as white and pink!!!
I'm sure that's not how it's supposed to be?
I've reported this to google who are looking into it and will get back to me.

Phone is a few years old, if you plan on using it awhile I would replace the screen/digitizer, fairly easy to do on your own. There is lots of diy videos out there. What I would prob do anyways. I use mine for my work phone. I haven't replaced the digitizer yet on this phone but I did do the battery once . If you do replace it, I would replace the battery while you have it apart. Only like 10 or 15 bucks for a new one.

Thats true if its the only way to get rid of the burn ins then I'll may start looking for a new digitizer/ screen now then. But as I said Im using that burn in fixer app to see if that can cure the problem, I do it over night as the app says its best to leave the app running for 8 hours in order to fix the problem. I use my phone in in the day quite consistently.
