Hello,
First of all please excuse me for my bad English (traduction with Google).
When using the free mobile network, I can not make or receive a call from the Mi Note 2.
SMS and MMS work perfectly and internet access also works.
In my tests, if I disable the data, calls are possible.
I tried with another subscription (Bouygues Telecom) and it works.
If I use the free mobile SIM on another phone, it works.
Thank you in advance for your comments and answers.

Hi,
I just unlocked my XDA II and I'm using a Vodafone SIM in it. How do I utilize GPRS, WAP and Modem connectivity with this SIM? Is it possible to get rid of all the O2 crap installed on it, i.e. "clean" it up properly?
A new skin would be cool!
Cheers,

you are by no means the first who ask this question
And what's the answer? Is it possible at all?
--
Thomas
yes it possible the xda is not limited to o2 in anyway
you just have to set it up
to do this you need to know the connection point your provider use for mms, grps and wap (if you also want that)
there are many posts which explane how you set it up in the network forum
but if you cant find any i could explane it step by step i suppose
i dont know much about o2's settings but if it's today stuff you can turn it off under today in settings
otherwise you can always make your own rom at www.yorth.net and get a more pure non o2 custom rom
you can get tons of skins as in today skins on many sites
and at yorth.net you can also get phone skins or have explaned how to make them yourself
Works fine now, thanks. Vodafone's acces point is named 'internet' (which was easy to read off the SIM), and the user/passwd is web/web (had to call them up to get that). So GPRS works fine. Needs some more info to set a Modem connection, but it shouldn't be hard.
The reason for my original posting, was that I was lead to believe that O2 had "locked" the device, which is not the case at all.
Anyway, thanks for info. Btw, the link you mention does not work...
Cheers,

spelling issue
Ttm, I'm confused. I am in the same situation as you (xda II with vodafone sim), yet i cannot connect GPRS using your settings. The settings I connect with are APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk with the same user/password as you. This connects fine yet i cannot send or receive emails.
Am i doing something wrong? have i missed something in the setup? what do you reckon? :?:
cheers, coj
well one thing is to be able send mails and another is to get mail working
can you get IE working ?
Yes, IE is working fine and dandy
then i doubt it's a grps issue
if you put in all the mail settings like
pop3 and smpt if you used those protocols
and it still dont work with your type of mail protocol
then i would contact the phone company to see if they rout
your type of mails
Are any of you HD2 owners in Japan?
I'm thinking of getting an HD2 and getting it to Japan.
I'll charge it via USB/PC.
Am I right in thinking I can simply use my current Sim card and continue using the HD2 so long as I use the same Access point and Password for my current carrier? (My current setup is unlimited/SoftBank.)
In other words - the actual phone hardware should make no difference right - so long as the services you use and the login details are the same?
Any opinions would be welcome.
Thanks.
Softbank Pre-paid MMS
I have a slightly different problem: -
I'm using a pre-paid SIM card in my HD2 with unlimited e-mails. I can call and send/receive SMS's no problem. But when someone sends me an MMS (all messages sent to my [email protected] address from phones or internet are treated as MMS), I get the message notification which shows the subject line but; when click to download the message it says that I cannot download. I assume that this is because, although I have unlimited e-mails (via my [email protected] address) I don't actually have internet access; is that right?
I've tried installing Zgembo's S!Mail, but it doesn't seem to install without his manila...which is for a different phone and so messes up the phone interface. Even then, I couldn't get the damn thing to send out an e-mail.
All I want to do is send and receive phone e-mails (or S!Mails, if you're keen). Any and all assistance will be much appreciated!
BeeGee is a GOD
Went to his website and followed the excellent step-by-step instructions and now am ridiculously happy!
Hi Everyone,
I'm bumping this thread as I'm a Softbank HD2 User. I'm currently using an iPhone Sim Card (Black one).
I was just wondering what radio you guys are using as I couldn't get a decent signal after trying so many of them.
From my experience it seems 2.15.50.14 is the best .
What about you ?
Cheers,
I.
Radio Settings
I just have it on auto-detect and haven't had any signal problems. I'm sure you've tried it already though...
You should have no problem. I am Softbank too. I have an HD2 & I finnally found a rom that will eccept the softbank MMS & Smail sending & receiving software, (Zgembo Softbank MMS). All is working great now. I had to try many roms to find one that would work, this one does. (Build 21914.5.0.93) WM 6.5 OS Version 5.2.21914.
BeeGee Link, please
I see that you all got MMS working on the HD2 + Softbank + Prepaid - would you be kind enough to post a link in BeeGee's site where the process is described?
I've been searching around there (and in XDAdevelopers) and can't seem to find that post that explains what to do to get MMS on the HTC HD2...
thanks!!
Hello fellow tweakers,
I recently changed from provider. My current provider (tringg.nl) is using the network of an other provider (kpn.nl) in our country. This is called, what i know, national roaming.
The problem is that my HTC HD2 cannot see the difference between national and international roaming. Therefore I cannot forbid my phone to connect to foreign country providers. And I keep seeing that ugly roaming icon in the taskbar.
Does somebody have the same issue?
Or does someone have a solution to this?
Is there some way to change/overwrite the home network provider?
Thanks,

I hear people say that the iphone does not see this as roaming.
So how can we make this work on Windows Mobile aswell?
Anybody?
What you should do is download an app called 'dial up enabler/disabler gprs' (search for it on this site). Each time you go abroad you will have to manually turn off your data connection, but it works for me.
In the apps like Twitter, Weather, etc. you can check allow to download when roaming.
Dio, thanks for your reply.
I am aware of this app but i would like to fix the root cause.
There must be a way to modify the home network.
For the time being i will have to set every thing to roaming allowed.
Hello guys,
Last week I have purchased on eBay what is for me the most awaited phone of all time . It was pretty expensive and I also had to pay another 120€ to the customs, but I don't regret it...
I am still getting used to the mobile & Android, but I would like to make 2 questions:
1- My 3g isn't working, GSM calls + SMS are working fine, but I cannot access any data, do I have to update any APN details ? (and how).
2- I am only offered two options regarding the phone language, En and Spanish, which is fine, but is there anyway I could add Portuguese as input language?
That's it for now, thanks in advance for any replies.
The thing is that when I browse Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access point names, I don't have any listed and neither I have an option to add a new APN ...
Ok, I have downloaded an APP from the market called APN Portugal that auto configured the APN details of my carrier (Optimus). Now I would like to know if it is possible to add a phone language/new input languages (keyboard) ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
How did you unlock it? Has it been activated in the US with a Verizon plan before being shipped to Portugal?
Thanks
Fred

Yes, it was unlocked by the eBay seller using a code provided by Verizon.
@elmemyself: thanks for sharing your experience. Are you able to send/receive MMS in Portugal?
Hello fpont1,
I am able to receive MMS, but not to send them ... I get a msg saying that the service isn't activated with the Network.

Hi man. In the APN screen beside your APN name, is there an icon showing a small lock with a question mark inside?
Dear N4 users,
I'm writing here to ask a (maybe silly) question. I live in Italy, and my carrier (TIM - Telecom Italia Mobile) has implemented a certain number of VoIP filters on our data connection to limit tethering and skype calsl on certain monthly data profiles.
Due to this reason, according to the different APN availables (two APNs are available: the first is a wap profile with proxy, and the other one is only for iphone users with no proxy), we have some problem sending and receiving whatsapp images/video or we have delayed notifications.
Essentially, whatsapp is mis-identified as a VoIP program and is filtered by the network. The odd thing is that this problem is present only on android phones: iphone users have no problem with whatsapp, no delayed notifications and no delay in sending/receiving images. If we try to connect to the wap APN we have fast sending/receiving of images, but delayed notifications. If we connect to the iphone-specific APN we have fast notifications, but delayed sending/receiving of images. Thus we think that the carrier activate or not the VoIP filters according to the telephone ID connected to the network.
My question is the following: is it possibile to change the ID of the nexus 4 in some configuration files to fake the iphone ID? If I connect to the online service of my carrier, inside my account details is shown the code of my telephone (LG E960), so this information is somehow sent to the carrier. Essentially I'm searching some kind of "user-agent", not for the browser but for the network.
Thank you in advance and I hope that my a little bit-too-much-articulated-question can be answered.
Cheers
Alessandro
