Are any of you HD2 owners in Japan?
I'm thinking of getting an HD2 and getting it to Japan.
I'll charge it via USB/PC.
Am I right in thinking I can simply use my current Sim card and continue using the HD2 so long as I use the same Access point and Password for my current carrier? (My current setup is unlimited/SoftBank.)
In other words - the actual phone hardware should make no difference right - so long as the services you use and the login details are the same?
Any opinions would be welcome.
Thanks.
Softbank Pre-paid MMS
I have a slightly different problem: -
I'm using a pre-paid SIM card in my HD2 with unlimited e-mails. I can call and send/receive SMS's no problem. But when someone sends me an MMS (all messages sent to my [email protected] address from phones or internet are treated as MMS), I get the message notification which shows the subject line but; when click to download the message it says that I cannot download. I assume that this is because, although I have unlimited e-mails (via my [email protected] address) I don't actually have internet access; is that right?
I've tried installing Zgembo's S!Mail, but it doesn't seem to install without his manila...which is for a different phone and so messes up the phone interface. Even then, I couldn't get the damn thing to send out an e-mail.
All I want to do is send and receive phone e-mails (or S!Mails, if you're keen). Any and all assistance will be much appreciated!
BeeGee is a GOD
Went to his website and followed the excellent step-by-step instructions and now am ridiculously happy!
Hi Everyone,
I'm bumping this thread as I'm a Softbank HD2 User. I'm currently using an iPhone Sim Card (Black one).
I was just wondering what radio you guys are using as I couldn't get a decent signal after trying so many of them.
From my experience it seems 2.15.50.14 is the best .
What about you ?
Cheers,
I.
Radio Settings
I just have it on auto-detect and haven't had any signal problems. I'm sure you've tried it already though...
You should have no problem. I am Softbank too. I have an HD2 & I finnally found a rom that will eccept the softbank MMS & Smail sending & receiving software, (Zgembo Softbank MMS). All is working great now. I had to try many roms to find one that would work, this one does. (Build 21914.5.0.93) WM 6.5 OS Version 5.2.21914.
BeeGee Link, please
I see that you all got MMS working on the HD2 + Softbank + Prepaid - would you be kind enough to post a link in BeeGee's site where the process is described?
I've been searching around there (and in XDAdevelopers) and can't seem to find that post that explains what to do to get MMS on the HTC HD2...
thanks!!

Hi,
I just unlocked my XDA II and I'm using a Vodafone SIM in it. How do I utilize GPRS, WAP and Modem connectivity with this SIM? Is it possible to get rid of all the O2 crap installed on it, i.e. "clean" it up properly?
A new skin would be cool!
Cheers,

you are by no means the first who ask this question
And what's the answer? Is it possible at all?
--
Thomas
yes it possible the xda is not limited to o2 in anyway
you just have to set it up
to do this you need to know the connection point your provider use for mms, grps and wap (if you also want that)
there are many posts which explane how you set it up in the network forum
but if you cant find any i could explane it step by step i suppose
i dont know much about o2's settings but if it's today stuff you can turn it off under today in settings
otherwise you can always make your own rom at www.yorth.net and get a more pure non o2 custom rom
you can get tons of skins as in today skins on many sites
and at yorth.net you can also get phone skins or have explaned how to make them yourself
Works fine now, thanks. Vodafone's acces point is named 'internet' (which was easy to read off the SIM), and the user/passwd is web/web (had to call them up to get that). So GPRS works fine. Needs some more info to set a Modem connection, but it shouldn't be hard.
The reason for my original posting, was that I was lead to believe that O2 had "locked" the device, which is not the case at all.
Anyway, thanks for info. Btw, the link you mention does not work...
Cheers,

Ttm, I'm confused. I am in the same situation as you (xda II with vodafone sim), yet i cannot connect GPRS using your settings. The settings I connect with are APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk with the same user/password as you. This connects fine yet i cannot send or receive emails.
Am i doing something wrong? have i missed something in the setup? what do you reckon? :?:
cheers, coj
well one thing is to be able send mails and another is to get mail working
can you get IE working ?
Yes, IE is working fine and dandy
then i doubt it's a grps issue
if you put in all the mail settings like
pop3 and smpt if you used those protocols
and it still dont work with your type of mail protocol
then i would contact the phone company to see if they rout
your type of mails
Okay, so here's the problem: I have just unlocked the x01ht, and now I wish to partake in all of it's glory with my Docomo SIM. The calls work fine and all, but I cant seem to do anything with the mail.
I looked all over for the solution for a couple of hours now, but I still haven't been able to find it. With my Docomo phone I have a simple "[email protected]" address, and I can send and receive mail to other phones as well as my webmail, but on the x01ht it's all a no go. Is there any way that I could fix this?
Thanks in advance for any help
That isn't going to work at all on the X01HT.
your @docomo.ne.jp address is i-mode, which the X01HT doesn't have.
If you want to use a PDA-phone on Docomo, they ask you to sign up for their data and push mail service MOPERA.NET. I'm not sure, but I think you'll have to sign up for this to get any kind of data working (internet/mail).
Then I would advise you *not* to sign up for the @mopera.net e-mail, as you will lose that address as soon as you switch providers again. Just use your regular e-mail address and one of the many push solutions available.

That's all correct. If you want to use any data on X01HT with Docomo SIM, you need a mopera U account and you have to sign up for that. That still requires setting up the APN connection manually.
I could set up the mopera U email on my TyTN rom but the push doesn't work. It appears you need to flash Docomo's htc Z rom to get the push work properly. It doesn't really bother me as I am using an alternate push mail service.
Thanks for the help guys. I had no idea of how any of that worked, and I couldn't seem to find the answer anwhere.
Big thanks to the forum; you guys are awesome. I would no doubt have been clueless about everything without the help.
I have X01ht flashed to DoCoMo ROM but don't have any DoCoMo SIM to try mail stuff... With DoCoMo ROM mopera is installed automaticaly, maybe instaling DoCoMo Extended ROM might help, just try installing it manually...
Port 443 blocked?
So I called Docomo last night to sign up for the Mopera U Lite plan as I wanted to use an exchange-based pushmail service instead of theirs. They told me that while port 443 isn't blocked, it also isn't usable. I told them that it makes no sense to block that port as that's how exchange pushmail works on this phone. That and it doesn't make sense that if it isn't blocked, that it also doesn't work either. Ports are either on or off, so unless they have a deny all and only open a few ports, their statement doesn't make sense.
My question becomes: Has anybody here used exchange pushmail on their docomo/mopera U service?
Thanks

okay. so after using faria's the real thing rom i saw that i could no longer send or receive mms messages. i used the tmobile usa settings from the tmobile website help system to no avail. kept getting wierd errors ("answering machine is busy and/or system has hung up") so i dropped back to stock tmobile 2.26 official rom. sending of mms resumed to normal and then today, wamo!, no more sending/receiving mms but this time no error messages other than "message could not be sent". the tmobile rom i flashed had the standard tmobile settings already and i made no changes to networking as far as i know. looking at the system it appears i am using:
radio 02.25.11
rom 2.26.10.2 WWE
arcsoft is my messaging app (from tmobile rom)
i also installed batterystatus 1.04.201 beta3, tcpmp, some google apps (yes they worked yesterday, and no, they do not work today unless i choose wifi).
steps i have done to figure it out:
1) searched forums and found a few posts/threads but they were not helpful for me because not the same issue, or the magical "nm i fixeded it!" posts with no description of what they did.
2) did test msgs with friends on tmobile. all could send receive but me. they do not use wm5 phones so that leads me to think there is a setting i fuxored on my phone somehow.
3) called csr for tmobile
4) did clean button - lokiwiz - tmobile official 2.26 rom. with same issues. yes i am sim/sid unlocked.
so my questions are (finally) this:
1) what troubleshooting can i do to find the culprit?
2) are there other messaging apps that collate all mms and sms (i dont use outlook)?
3)is this just a regional hiccup and not my phone setup? yes i called tmobile and they have no outages reported in my area (tampa, fl), but hey, they also said i can use 3G on my phone, so you never know .
wow. that was a lot.
anyway, thanks for any help or tips in advance
with fairs rom i had the same mms problems. also had a GPRS problem with the auto configurations. the t-mobile site is wrong with the gateway settings for mms. they list .050 when it should end in .50 there are is a topic about this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298222
that should help you with both your problems.
yep. right after i posted this someone else put up a post about it and solved it.
amazing that they put the wrong ip addy on the tmobile site. fixed and working great now.
Ok, heres the deal. I have had my MDA for about 8 months now, and havent been able to figure out how to change the mms settings. I spent about an hour on the phone today with tech support for my phone company, and they think my phone is locked out(its not using a t-mobile sim). I have all the settings that I need to put in, it just wont let me create a new MMS account. What do I need to do to this thing to make it work? I tried searching the forums, but the results I get are too numerous to find anything....
Please help me!
What Cellular company and what version of Windows Mobile are you running?

Check out this post......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2342395#post2342395
My cellular company is IWireless, its a small carrier in Iowa, it works off of the T-Mobile network for nationwide, however, the MMS settings are off their own network. Im currently using the 2.26 T-mo rom again. I tried a WM6 rom(it was a TNT one), and the phone began acting extremely strange.. texts would get lost, I couldn't receive some calls, and I wouldn't get voice mail notifications... however, I could send and receive MMS (once I had the phone configured right)
I tried the CAB trej3k posted, and it didn't work. I have all the settings that I need to input into the phone, its just that I cant modify the settings in the MMS settings tab(the buttons are grayed out)
For now, I think I can live with having my phone, and no MMS, however, I would like to find someway to modify the phone still using the T-Mo 2.26 rom(works best with my carrier). Any ideas?
If you're willing to give it a try, install a newer ROM of your choice, and then replace your Radio ROM with one of the T-Mobile ones. I know you still want to retain your original ROM, but choosing a vanilla ROM with a low WM build number can usually get you a pretty stable device.
I'd recommend the UK 2.19 for you, it usually minimizes Missed calls, even on the US T-Mobile network.
I dont think that I can be doing any worse than what I have been for the last week... I was beginning to wonder why nobody was calling me, checked my voicemail, and I had 12... the phone never alerted me that I had voicemails(or that anybody called)...
There is no way, I take it, to work a way around T-mo's block on the MMS settings without flashing a new rom(again)?
Hey,
I recently bought an unlocked htc wing from overstock.
Also know as the herald, and the XDA Terra.

Not quite sure why the poster above gave you information to unlock your unlocked phone. I am using my wing on At&t as well. To get the network setup all you need is a .cab file called, Network Wizard.
http://rapidshare.com/files/66087193/HTC_Network_Wizard_KAISER_1_0_29981_1.cab
Click on the link to download. Install on Wing and select the country and carrier and it automatically configures the device for you. I do suggest you delete old connection profiles like the t-mobile or any others you created just to speed up the actual connection process to the internet. If for some reason Network Wizard does not work properly you can manually edit the settings to connect to At&t. Here is what I used in the past before finding the Network Wizard.

For MMS all you need to install is ArcSoft. Do a search and you will easily find the .cab file for installation. That cab will give you fully functioning MMS with threaded messaging (see the whole conversation).
Good luck.
