So notice my Sprint variant of LG V20 is missing quite a bit of LG software. Now most people would praise sprint for doing this, however I would like to have access to the LG Music app at the very least to take full advantage of QUAD DAC. I do have access to this zip file but am wondering if it's possible to install if phone isn't rooted? Any feedback on this topic is appreciated. Thanks.
I would love the lg music app also - but I don't believe it's ever been shared.

I have a link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/rom-natf-1-00-test-5-debloated-stock-t3509750

Thank You very much. I've had my eye out for quite some time.
Luckily there's a flashable zip in that post. There's allot more to it than just clicking on a single apk file.
Got it flashed and running great.

I don't know if you can install it without root.
The file I downloaded was a zip to install from twrp recovery.
You could download the zip and extract the music.apk and try installing it from es file explorer.
Mine is rooted but it hasn't been for long. I wish I had done it sooner though. The phone runs so much better now and the battery last waaaaaay longer.
I was hesitant because I'm on sprint and their was no path back to 100% stock yet. I shouldn't have waited.

Hope I'm not going to be stepping over any toes by asking which ROM you're using on your device? Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Now the question I am wondering is... Is it worth it? Potentially sacrificing root and CWR? I have been running 0.0.7.3 CM9 build for many months now and am curious to what you all think.
Pros/Cons? I've heard battery life is terrible, which is odd because I feel like I have good battery life on the CM9 Port. Also... Is root completely gone? Does OTA Rootkeeper help? My biggest concern (I'd probably even lose root if it is fixed), does the pen work as advertised? Or is the infamous 'pen wonk' bug still present?
Pen wonk = writing notes for ~10-15 minutes, pen is suddenly not responsive. Sleep/waking the device fixes it usually. This has been present in every stock Honeycomb build as well as all the CM9 Port builds so I am very curious if this is fixed because I believe it is a hardware issue (Lenovo please prove me wrong). Any info would be much appreciated.

I was able to go from a rooted, CWM'd device (US 64GB) to a fully rooted device without CWM.
After a few painful steps to get an old busybox file restored and stock recovery enabled, the upgrade process was very simple and so far it is working very well with ICS. There hasn't been enough time to judge battery life yet....
Make sure you follow the instructions that other's have posted about using RootKeeper. That is the only thing I needed to use to restore root perfectly.

That is good news about the ability to keep root. At least in keeping root, we should theoretically be able to restore CWR.

I did not have CWR to start.
I downloaded the update through the "update" menu on the device.
Update failed due to gps.conf being modified.
Reverted to what I thought was old gps.conf, update still failed.
Install CWR
Try update through CWR
Still fail, due to indigo being required in build.prop (this error is caused by CWR)
Commented out the Indigo lines in the update-script in the update
Flashed again
Still failed for gps.conf.
Commented out each line in update-script mentioning gps.conf
flashed again, it worked.
I take you flashed 310 first then 400?
Where is the script located?

Hi all,
For those with the AT&T version of the LG G Pad 7 the Android 5.0.2 update is here. Looks to have been released 2 days ago actually. See http://www.att.com/esupport/softwareUpdateArticle.jsp?sid=KB425003&cv=820
My tablet is not rooted or modified in any way. I checked for updates, says none available so no upgrade for me yet. Will post back once I get it. I've upgraded other devices from KitKat to Lollipop and they are always laggy after the upgrade. I plan to upgrade then factory reset the tablet as that seems to work out much better.
Finally received the update. All went well since I as not rooted or anything like that. Not used it for long but seems a bit more responsive. I did factory reset and set up as new after doing the Lollipop upgrade.
Does anyone know a successful root method. I've tried everything with no luck. There's got to be some way.

Yes my G Pad 7 has a valid/active AT&T Sim card in it. I have it on my mobile share value plan.
Is there a way to root 5.0.2? Everything I have tried seems to fail.

No way to root lollipop. I'm back on KK and working on PAC Rom build.
Sent from my D6503
I have the KK source code for the v410. Is there no way to build a KDZ from it? I am guessing there is not because someone would have though of this by now.
I still don't see this update available. Im using it on wifi only, with no sim card. Can this be the issue?
The mobile(SIM) network is used to access protocols(most common is time/date and OTA) that routers ignore. To update go to AT&T and ask for a new SIM or root; custom recovery; flash update.

I downloaded KingRoot from app store and that does the trick.
Is there a manual zip file or something for lollipop? Att with no sim. No OTA available
KingRoot APK worked for me..took two tries..then I replaced their flavor of SU with SuperSU....I still have not been able to custom recovery the beast tho.. Lollipop 5.0.2..tried to Flashify with TWRP 3.0.0.0 Bumped..I get boot certification error when I try to go into recovery.. But I can reboot back into Stock ROM..kinda got cold feet..don't want to hose the device!

Memory woes
I've been running my v410 with lollipop for a while now and was getting pretty discouraged that apps keep crashing. Large apps like games will crash when a calendar notification pops up, etc.
I used KingRoot to gain root and then SuperSUme to replace SU and remove KingRoot bloat. Mostly to kill ads since I'm running stock with no custom recovery (there are only about 6 apps I use that require SU)
So anyway, I recently installed Kernel Adiutor to take a peek at some kernel tweaks. Low and behold, the default low memory killer settings are set super aggressive! The most aggressive preset available in Kernel Adiutor is still only half of the default values. I knocked it down to "moderately aggressive" and my memory problems are gone (mostly). I'm now playing with the Z-RAM settings to try and get my memory usage to be more efficient.
I was afraid I would have to downgrade to KK to get this thing back to usable. Perhaps not...

Wait - you have root on 5.0.2?? Can you post a zip?
Can we flash xposed via twrp or flash fire ?
Do it. At your own risk.
If you do it please let us know the results and which version you flashed.
I was also wondering about Viper4Android. I could really use the boost and equalizer.
Can you either nandroid back or flash a stock image if things go south? Can you even flash zips in TWRP yet without issue? You're rolling a big pair if you can't do either.
Is there an xposed for Nougat? Rumor says no. Rumor confirmed.

To be honest, there's really not much benefit at all to rooting yet. Yet people spend hours upon hours of aggravation trying to do so, with many of them that shouldn't be anywhere near an ADB command.
It's the same story with every new phone. The "root commandos."
Xposed isn't working for Nougat I thought

It's Working Now. Don't Use Material Xposed Installer. Use The official Xposed Installer APK which is 3.1.2 Currently. Otherwise None Of The Modules Will Work.

I was just thinking the same thing... i've almost always rooted and modified my phones.. but I think it was usually for a specific purpose or need..
the older phones I had were running touchwiz.. which i HATED to use.. so was so eager to get ROM with more of a stock android..
Or how I would love having some of the features of Cyanogenmod.. like "ScreenShot" or Reboot menu ... but with the V20.. it has screen shot built in beautifully..
I know it was also nice to be able to install titanium backup and be able to delete a lot of the stock bloatware .. but the V20 doesn't have much.. plus I can disable most of them...
I do wish I could find a rom that may run a little faster... I have noticed some Hiccups with this phone.. and 1 or 2 random reboots.. but honestly i'm sure if I went with custom software or modifed with Xposed.. i could see that more..
It would be interesting to see what some of the reasons why people on here have rooted the V20.

I never did root my V20. I'm on the Note 8 now and can't see any benefit of rooting it, either.
I'm really fond of Android Pay. I'm pretty fond of my phone working as it should all day every day. To one degree or the other, you lose that with root. SystemUI tuner will do quite a bit of Xposed's work, and I'm not so annoyed with ads that I feel a need for Adaway.

Dl the APK, sdk24 arm64 version of xposed, and the Uninstaller. Install the APK and allow the app to install xposed through recovery. It will begin install, prompt to reboot in recovery, obviously select okay. Then it's an automatic process. Initial boot up time takes a while so be patient. Everything should be good to go after that. Good luck!
BTW I'm on h918, stock 10q.
I have YouTube adblock, boot manager, xposed torch, and stay awake for now. I feel like a nerd being excited about xposed. This is making the v20 even better!

Hello there! Hope this won't sound too much of a stupid question for you, but I've been an iOS user for the past 3 years or so. Now that I'm back to Android, I can see that the stock Google Keyboard has different system-wide available emojis than the original iOS ones (wich are also available in whasapp through a dedicated button)... since I use to post them everywhere (and I love the Gboard search function) and they're a lot different looking from the iOS ones, I'm often unaware of how they could be interpretated. Is there any way to change them? I've read something about this font called emojione, but i did not understand how to install it and if it is compatible with our OP5 devices... thank you in advance for your attention!
Are you rooted and using Magisk? If yes, then check this out. If you just have TWRP installed and don't use Magisk, I can whip up a flashable zip for you, so let me know. Have fun!

Just for this mod, root isn't necessary actually. But you will need an unlocked bootloader & a custom recovery (i.e. TWRP). I assume you have that? If yes, a flashable zip would work. If you don't have both of those, then you need to do some reading. Check this out!

No, I don't have those and as I read, I should wipe all data to do that, so I need some time to backup and copy back to the phone most of my stuff. Thanks for the links for now, I will do that as soon as I can get some free time eheh

Very handy if you want to return to stock from lineage , for whatever reason
@demasta123 i am looking to go back to stock from lineageos (17.1) actually. Am curious what steps you'll be following.
I just restored my download mode with laf-restore and I can get into download mode now, but LGUP isn't recognizing my device (it's an H918) to flash stock 10P back on it again. Surely because it has LOS 17.1 on it..
Am finding some docs out there about using LG Flash utility with a megalock dll but the link isn't there anymore etc.
Not really WANTING to go back to stock H918 V20 ROM rooted, but this will get us VoLTE capabillities on Tmob while we search for what new phones we can live with.
Thanks for any advice. would be willing to work with you on a doc/guide for this I'm sure it would be useful to others in our same predicament.
