Awhile back I was having an issue with group messaging and unable to download iphone users messages.
I ended up just re-doing my phone for other reasons.
Now, I am able to to view iphone user messages in a group chat, but now I can't view my husband's messages (android) in a group chat.
I've read to check the APN settings and a few other things.
So my question is what is your AT&T APN set at.
Also, do you have any issues with group messaging?

I think it's AT&T towers, of late I've had issues with very late e-mail deliveries and my voice not being heard by the other party. They have way to much traffic on their towers. Cricket, StraightTalk and a host of others all using AT&T towers.
My wife has an s6 edge and her group MMS won't download on my Moto x pure. Plain sms and direct MMS work fine. We're both on att but sperate accounts. Nothing I've tried works

Incorrect... fota is "Firmware Over The Air" data type and is not relevant

We've figured it out.
My husband has a Note 4 and in his text messaging settings he had to change. Sorry, I can't remember what it was exactly but he said it was new in his text messaging settings. Once he changed that, it worked! I think it was something enhanced. Of course I would ask him but he's currently unreachable.
Hope this helps for now
Thanks for the tip I'll look at settings on my wife's phone when I can get my hands on it. I'll update later

fota = Firmware Over The Air
Meaning you can get OTA updates via mobile data if allowed on the server side... it is somewhat depreciated on retail devices, but has no negative effects. In carrier phones, where the OTA updates are distributed by the carrier, in some cases it can allow the update to come over mobile data where it normally would require WiFi. In order for this to work, your update application would have to request a "fota" data connection from the operating system.
I am aware this page only lists it for tablets, but it definitely applies to some phones.
BTW, I don't even have AT&T anymore... to expensive, moved to H20 Wireless.

Still can't figure this out. Trying apndroid but not working. Do I need to turn on or off n e thing in settings?? Data? 2g only? According to statement online, still going online

I think this depends on your carrier's apn settings.
On Orange in the UK, I have separate apns for data and mms, so I can disable or enable them separetely.
Other carriers use a single apn for both however.
there is no way to do this because of the way android uses access points. i know, i want to do this too. i dont like how android only has either on or off data. other phones, like my symbian devices for example, data only turns on when you open an app that needs data. and when you close that app the data session terminates, which saves a tremendous amount of battery life.
android on the other hand keeps an always-on data connection, no matter what, even when the phone is not doing anything or using any data. this is why android devices get such poor battery life compared to other devices.
yah. in settings, theres only 1 apn for t-mobile. thats sucks. some ppl said apndroid works but i cant seem to figure out a way to make it not go on net while allowing mms. that sux. =3 was soo hoping i can use mms now since my old 1st gen iphone couldnt
thats kinda stupid too cuz im tryin to accept pictures which should theoretically count as just messages or counted under the texting plan (unlimited for me) but the phone uses "data" to download it.
I don't see the point on using mms at all in smartphones, it is so much easier to just attach the picture to an email.
Well, for me at least, since my carrier gives me unlimited data an no mms at all. But still, its been ages I don't get an mms from someone.
Back to the topic, unless you have separated apn for data and mms there's no way to disable one and keep the other. At least I don't know how.

I'm pretty sure if you create a APN with only the MMS settings, and set it as MMS type, it should only do mms.
OP, have you called your carrier and asked them for proper APN settings for what you want to to do?

i dont think that will work. he currently has mms working fine. this is a limitation with android OS. for example symbian you can turn off the data connection, and when an mms comes in, the data turns on and retrieves the message, then closes the data connection. android cannot do this. with android data is either on completely, all the time, or off completely all the time. and since mms grabs the pic via the data connection, it wont work if data is turned off.

i stand corrected, i was wrong i thought it was tied to the system data connection.
Yeah, just create a second APN and set its type to 'mms'. Keep your main one as type 'default, supl'. That way, you can disable your main APN and your MMS will still work fine (if that's what you want)
when i change the 2nd one to mms, i lose the dot next to the APN to enable it? i tried deleting the 1st apn but i cant recieve again
umm im confused what are you trying to do? receive mms? i have the 10 tmobile data plan and what i did was change the default apn name to
T-Mobile US-MMS
then the apn type to
mms
create a second apn and name it
T-Mobile US

Put in the sim card, go to settings - wireless and networks - mobile networks - check "on" Use packet data. Than press Acces point names and create new APN. Depends on what data plan you have you enter the APN settings. I am on grandfathered unlimited AT & T data plan so I created APN called cingular 410. All the settings for this APN you will find easy on this forum, if not, send me private email I will email it to you.It is not hard to set it up even if you are not really computer geek. ( I am not )

Thanks I have h+ and 3g working I just can't send pictures it just sits there with the circle rotating for ever...but I can get picture mail...what did I do wrong...PS thanks again
I was told just delete any apn in there. Create a new one and put ATT and Phone in the first two lines and the system will do the rest.
However, I have the same problem as the poster above, I can send/receive calls, get text but no picture message
It just sits there trying to send it out for ever...see picture below
At the bottom of your apn settings under apn type make sure you have internet and mms checked.
check but still no go on MMS
What is mmsc and what should that be at god this is really pissing me off I have done everything three time and still can't get it to work
I have this problem too! I added port 80 to my apn settings for mms port. At first I thought that cleared it up. But I still have a problem from time to time. Anyone?
Note: I only have issues with sending attachments, like pictures, to text messages (ie mms). Emailing attachments works fine.

Ok, I went through this drill with AT&T and it took a couple calls to get things sorted out after I activated my new line for my phone. I had precisely the same issue that you did where everything worked except MMS.
#1 - Be SURE they double checked that they provisioned your phone correctly on the back end. Unless your phone was correctly provisioned, your phone's APN settings don't mean jack. Ensure that AT&T setup your phone on the back end as though it was a Samsung Galaxy S2 (not the Skyrocket though). I had to get past tier 1 support to get my issues corrected.
#2 - Remove any and all APN entries you already have there and setup your phone as follows:
Under Settings\Mobile network settings: Use packet data (check to enable)
Tap 'Access Point Names'
Tap the menu button, left of the home button and choose 'New APN'
Name: AT&T WAP
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username <not set> - Leave this alone
Password: <not set> - Leave this alone
Server: <not set> - Leave this alone
MMSC: http:/mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: <not set> - Leave this alone
APN type: internet + mms
Do NOT forget to tap menu again and choose 'save'
This should work without rebooting the phone, but I rebooted mine anyway because they asked me to.
Again, make sure they correctly provisioned your phone and tell them that it should be setup as though it is a Galaxy S2 (not the Skyrocket).
My phone went from 3G/H+ with only sms and NO MMS reading/sending to full functionality once they fixed a provisioning issue AND only with the right APN settings, which AT&T gave me from their Galaxy S2 phone configs.
Enjoy.

the MMSC url should have read http with 2 slashes and not one like this: "http:/"
XDA won't let me post proper URL's until I have 8 posts, so forgive the intentional typo It keeps stopping me each time to try and find a way to fix it. I even had to wait 5 minutes to make the point of correction.
Spammers really have a way of making this suck for the rest of us...

Hello everyone,
I just joined T-mobile last week and ported over my old phone number to it. I'm able to receive and make phone calls just fine, but I'm unable to receive SMS/MMS messages. Oddly I can send them to my friends, and they have all confirmed receiving the messages (they called/emailed me to let me know). I was told it would take 2-8 hours on average to port my number over, but up to 48 hours worst case. It's been 5 days now.
I've contacted T-Mobile about 8 times now over the phone, and each time I'm told to check my APN settings, clear my data and cache in the messaging app, reboot the phone, put it into airplane mode then out of airplane mode. Nothing is working. Upon googling, some people have said to contact their technical department and to ask for a number rebroadcast. They're not working on this, and I hope it works as I sent and received several text messages on a daily basis, both work and personal.
Has anyone ever had issues like this? I'm scared that it'll never be fixed, and I really don't want to resort to getting a new phone number just to "fix" the issue. Some people on google in the past have said a rebroadcast has fixed it for them, while others have gone weeks without resolve. All of these horror stories were from 2009 or 10, so I'm hoping now that a few years have passed, T-Mobile has their act straightened and can fix this.
Try this: open the dialer and press *#*#4636#*#*
Then phone information.
Scroll down to SMSC and hit refresh. Make sure it reads "+12063130004",145. (Including quotations) if not change it to that.
See if that helps.
P.S. you may want to write down the smsc before you change it.

I ported my number from a Google voice account. Friends of mine have done this a few times flawlessly, so I figured I'd port mine over too since everyone practically calls/texted me at that number. Google claims the number has been transferred completely over to T-mobile, so it's their issue if I'm not receiving SMS messages.
Hmmm. Well I'm out of ideas. Hopefully it sorts itself out Good luck!

I don't think apn settings make a difference when it comes to your plan.
What radio are you on? Look under settings/about phone/ what are the last 2 digits where it says baseband version?
I would test it out on another phone, if that does not work it's mostly something wrong on t-mobiles side. Had a similar issue but it resorted itself out after some time when porting to t-mobile.

FOR ANDROID 2.3-4.3

IF THE ABOVE METHOD DONT WORK FOR ANDROID 2.3-4.2
go to mms.flashingtools.com & choose your android version

THIS IS A UNIVERSAL MMS CRICKET FIX...IT SHOULD WORK FOR MANY PHONES ON CRICKET!
I managed to find a temp mms solution for my Note 3 on Cricket wireless if you don't feel comfortable editing your build prop, or using root explorer yourself. YOU MUST HAVE TALK, TEXT, & WEB ON YOUR PHONE FOR THIS TO WORK!
This requires using two apps:
Chomp SMS to send mms(cant seem to get it to work on receiving)
Universal CKT app to receive which i provided (force closes when i try to send a mms not sure why)
First off make sure you disable any of your messaging apps "Auto Retrieve MMS" (i dont think it matters but I just have it that way)
Next: you will need to download chomp SMS from the Play store, once you install it open it and go under Settings>SMS & MMS Network Settings> go down to MMS Network Settings tab and click on APN Settings
Next step enter these exact settings:
MMSC: http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: wap.mycricket.com
MMS Port: 8080
After you've entered them go back, and go down to "Send Size Limit" and choose 300KB & below that check the box on Delivery Report (not mandatory but shows when they receive it)
Now download and install the Universal CKT App which i provided with any file manager
and open the Universal CKT App, go to settings and enable Auto Retrieve MMS (once again i dont think it matters but I just have it that way)
Now try sending a mms using Chomp SMS(sender app)
and use the Universal CKT app to receive or download it (receiver app)
If Chomp SMS failed to send make sure you are sending with your wifi turned off & double check you APN settings
IF FOR SOME REASON YOUR APN SETTINGS ARE NOT STICKING ON CHOMP SMS, ENTER THEM WITH YOUR WIFI DISABLED..AND ALWAYS DISABLE IT WHEN SENDING A MMS

hey this actually worked perfectly. The only "problem" I guess you can say is that now I have two messaging apps, the regular one and this one. Is there a way to replace the regular one with this one? Or can I just delete the regular one, which (I'm guessing) would force the cricket mms to act as the default app? Thanks in advance.

MNC: 150
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: mms
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
See if these APN settings help, they solved the problem for me.
What problem is this solving?
Wait a second, is this fix still needed now that Cricket is GSM and no longer CDMA?
Mine still sends fine on my Sprint note 3
Deleted.
Open stock text messages app
go to settings and change message center number to +13123149810
If dsnt work enable enhace features (for s7 port only) and change center number or add this apn :
Name: NXTGENPHONE
Apn: NXTGENPHONE
Mmsc: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
Mms proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
Mms port: 80
Apn type: default,mms,supl,hipri
It will show that the message was not sent but i really sends it (better than nothing)
Havent had a problem with calls yet

I can't find the apn settings on any of the note 5/S7 ports. Or, if I find them it says I can't adjust them due to my current user settings....which of course I can't change. I'm still trying to get sms to work on any of the ports... so far no go. I am on Verizon with a Verizon Sim
