So i have an AT&T S7 edge and i have a goPhone simcard. But every time i click to check for updates it says it has the most current update. Which it isnt because it still has the September security patch so obviously not the most current version. Any thoughts

Hook up to wifi it will download the update for you.
Or download it from the pc and flash via odin
Or use smart switch on your computer it will update the firmware as well
So i found out the issue why because the firmware version is the unlocked version not the AT&T version
I am concerned because I'm looking forward to Android Nougat but I haven't gotten a December security update and the phone uses sprint software. It's using the November update, and I updated right when I got the phone. Except I can't remember if the Sprint sim was in when I updated. For the phone to update, does there need to be a Sprint sim in or can I use my cricket sim? Thanks.

You don't need any specific SIM for OTA's.
I have a unlocked AT&T s7 edge I bought it refurbished on ebay. I have flashed the SM-G935U firmware but there is no updates yet but when I used a vpn it said I have a update (using an American ip) but I'm in the uk on three what will happen to my device is it a possible nugat update
It's not Nougat, it's either the standard AT&T update from October, about 250mb, or the November patch at 50mb. We're probably at least looking at late February or March for nougat.
I have an S8 Active unlocked in Europe. All OK but there are NO updates for me, even if AT&T have an August update for S8 Active
Any ideea what to do? There is any chance to receive an OTA update if I use it in Europe? Really strange... and frustranting. NO root, no custom OS etc.

To my knowledge, August update hasn't been released... I have an S8 Active on AT&T and just checked for update... None available.
Why is it so infuriating? It's well known that active updates come late, they always have.

Maybe things to know before going into it. You don't ever buy a carrier phone like this expecting root and custom ROMs SMH.
And that's the current firmware with the July patch. Wait a bit since it just came out or get an international model a little more suited to what you're wanting. The att S8 active is NOT it.
My fault It was released on August but it's July. I need some glasses Thx!
Release date: August 9, 2017
Android version: 7.0
Security patch level (SPL): July 1, 2017
Did you ever get there update? I'm considering buying an "unlocked" AT&T S8 Active too.

You need to use it on AT&T network to receive the update?! Because, I even reset my phone, do anything, but no sign of update.
I use it in Europe so, no AT&T for me. Really sad
That's too bad. I did end up buying an unlocked S8 Active G892A, I REALLY wanted this device so decided to buy anyway despite concern over updates.
I know the S7 active did require an AT&T SIM to download OTA updates, but I haven't seen if this really is the case with the S8 Active as well... I will write again once I receive my own device.
I am on October. I tried to find the url, but I took the update too long ago.

Sorry guys, complete amateur here. I have an AT&T S8+ that was unlocked using a code from AT&T.
I switched to T-Mobile and my phone worked perfectly after simply inserting a T-Mobile sim.
Carriers push updates over the air and I assumed I would have put in an AT&T sim to get the oreo update, but it's been out forever and I have not been able to update my phone. I've been busy and never got around to it. My phone was working fine so I just it slide.
I've tried using an AT&T sim. I've restarted my phone with the AT&T sim in it. I've tried manually searching for the update. I've tried smart switch. I even went to the Samsung experience store in NYC and they had no solution. My phone will not update.
Any suggestions?

I've been reading some of these threads and I'm not sure if this is correct, but I can use Odin 3.13.1 to flash to CRB9? That would get me to the first Oreo release?
Sorry if this is not the correct place for this thread. Thanks
