everytime i use 1080p 60fps it zooms in a bit and it kinda bothers me because id have to adjust my position no matter if vertical or horizontal recording is there another app that can record in 60fps but not all zoomed in?
You need to be a little more specific, at first reading this I had no idea what you were talking about. But realized you were talking about the same problem I have. On the stock camera app, when you set the resolution and fps to 1080, 60 fps, it seems to automatically zoom in. Even though I haven't touch the zoom and confirm there is no zoom. Weird issue that's happening on 2017u, stock B29. Of course going back to a lower fps but still at 1080p it fixed the zoom issue. But sux since I want 60 fps.
I have this problem too, any ideas on fix?
I'm pretty sure this isn't fixable easily, because what you are describing might have something to do with the actual workings of the sensor. If you want to take pictures on 1080p, and have a 3348p sensor, what pixels do you use to get the pictures?

I just saw this video demonstrating how the A500 display can lag when not held in standard portrait orientation.

I'm wondering if any of the devs on here are working on a solution? Perhaps a better video driver?
Hey guys,
I have a little thing that drives me nuts for a bit. Whether this is something that is from my end of the phone
So I just got my SSD and went on recording the boot time. When I record the screen my phone constantly blurred out and re-adjust which is clearly visibly on the video. It isn't constantly sharp but instead tried to re-adjust even with the smallest of light.
How can I fix this? What I also wanted to know is why my video camera has a flash option. I just tried it enabled but nothing happened when I pressed record.
Hopefully you guys can help me out a bit :fingers-crossed:
Hello, I was wondering if someone could test their S8 to see if they also have a issue with focusing on something (say a coin spinning ) close up while in slow motion video mode. Flash on etc.
Compared to my S7 Edge, something is not correct, the minimum distance went from 5-6 inches to at least 8-10 inches now. The same thing I did with the S7, I cannot do with the S8.
Isn't the camera the same?
The S8 can't seem to focus until i move the camera at least 2x further away than the S7 Edge.
Waiting on the factory reset as, this is only a problem when it's in slow motion mode.
Thanks all
Minimum focus under slow motion mode is further away than in normal mode on mine: probably 3 inches in normal and about 5 in slow motion. Not sure why? there might be small miss alignment of focus mechanism between individual cams (yours and mine or your S7), but I'm not sure why slow motion mode affects it.
Sorry to revive old thread, but I have the same issue
Tried to do slow-mo of my mechanical watch and it just could not focus on that distance.
I even tried to fool it by going into pro mode and lock focus on closest macro and then switch to super slow mo and at first it looked like it will work, only it started slowly focusing more into distance. Was able to hit record while it was still moving but it is not the best solution
Same is happening in regular slow mo...it's weird
Hello. I am new owner of S8. As they claim front camera now has autofocus so selfies will be now "sharper" .
I dont know if I just have wrong model but when I am doing selfies really close to front camera they are really sharp.
However if I move camera little bit further it start re-focusing almost all the time. If I touch on the object sometimes it helps a little bit but it still not good.
The best result I could achive, you can see on the photo (and I tried many times and others were even worse). The text is totally unreadble. It is same with faces, but you can see it better on text.
I compared it to much cheaper phone Honor 8, which does much sharper photo without any autofocus.
Does any of you have the problem, or it is just me?
I tried restore camera setting but it didnt help.
Thanks for feedback. (cause I have no feedback from samsung )
I got the s8 plus and for me the front camera is beast! I know back on the s7 the camera was eh and the keyboard lag was real so I got the edge. It could be the camera or you could be snapping the camera too fast. Takes a sec to grab the image.
Do you have selective focus on? This mode will blur background to simulate portrait mode with telephoto lens on DSLR. I find it useless, but stupid iphone has it so why not galaxy?
Mine is not 100% sharp either (however much better than yours), but I have low light now and get shutter speed of 1/24sec, it's hard to hand held photo at 1/24sec without some shake. Need to retest this in full sun tomorrow.

Hi, no I dont. And this is another problem. When I try to do picture in this mode it always say me something like "Picture was taken but the effect of contrast cannot be used because no object was reckognized" . So there must be something defenetly wrong.
And when I was doing photo I was waiting more than 5 secs to focus but the result was still same. And I put phone on the table so I didnt move with it at all.

Thats sounds similar to message I got when using selective focus. It tells you that it couldn't recognize your face so the effect wasn't fully applied (in selective focus that effect is to keep sharp focus on face and blur everything else). Seems like you have some effect enabled and that could be your problem. I never got any msg, except for selective focus, but didn't have much time to play a lot.

I tried factory reset as a last option and it still didnt helped. I reviewed lot of videos and pictures of S8 online and for sure mine is behaving different. Probably I will have to take my S8 to the nearest service..
Sounds like you do have a problem. I used my S8 and stood back and the picture was focused. Closer ones have always been focused.
I had the same issue, but really don't know If what I did was the fix, because this issue was happening every time I open the camera app after a while (like half an hour) and I had to knock my phone just to wake up my focusing sensor or what ever it called, but after I:
- re-enabled all the disabled bixby apps.
- stopped using my car magnet holder - so it never gets too cold because of the car's AC and never gets attached to a magnet.
after that, camera never miss-focusing anymore, now more than 3 hours.
So please, if anyone had this issue and:
- not using any magnet holder.
- not disabling bixby apps.
- not having the phone too cold.
please tell us to be aware.
I know it's not logic, as long as I can use the camera normally after I knock the phone, so it might be a hardware problem, but I'm sharing my experience with you just to find out the fix.
Thanks
Update: Nothing from the above was the issue, still; miss focusing, even after a factory reset... waiting for July update and see if they will fix it.
Hey there, I too have an issue in front camera of my galaxy s8 when I put it too far then it shows blurry image but when the camera is nearby the object then it shows some good quality, but not showing as much good as it was showing before .
i have the same issue. But the camera works when it wants to work... but sometimes is blury (most of times)
S10+ UK variant with the latest updates installed. I have an issue with the camera. If I open the camera and choose Live Focus, the default lens is the one with the single leaf on it, which is the lens that makes everything the biggest/closest etc. If I hold my hand or anything else out in front of me, the camera will not focus on my hand/object at all. If I wave it about, it will sometimes come into focus momentarily, but will not focus as you would expect, the image is also quite poor. If I then change lenses to the other available one, which is the one with two leaves on, that focuses perfectly and very quickly and is nice and sharp in the areas that I choose.
Samsung said to factory reset and I did and it did not fix it. They also said that Tracking AF setting should be enabled, but it is greyed out and there is no way to change it. I found a video on youtube on how to enable it, by reducing the resolution of video recording for the rear camera, but as I'd just factory reset, it was already on a low setting.
Also, all 3 lenses will focus as they should in auto and pro modes, just not live focus.
Could anyone please try this for me?
Open camera->Select Live Focus->Select the lens with the single leaf icon->Hold hand or other object about 12 inches/30cm away. Does it focus properly?
Also, with the camera still open->settings->Tracking AF <--is this greyed out?
Thanks, any help, much appreciated.
Same with me. Never noticed before as usually nor use live focus mode.

For me the 2x zoom camera(single leaf) has problems of focusing when I shoot a video. Try that also and see if you guys have the same problem

Thanks. Yes, mine is the same. I had mine set to 1920 @60fps and there's no option to change lenses, but after setting it to just FHD 1920x1080, the 3 lenses are available. The focus here, although not working as expected is better than it is using live focus.

I am using 4k 30fps, and for me sometimes the focus for the telephoto(x2) struggles to get perfect. Maybe is a software thing that will be corrected. Also checked it and the tracking AF is also greyed out for me.
