Hello!
I am using my galaxy s7 edge for 7 month , and my battery has started to be very bad..
I checked with an app my battery capacity estimate.
And it said that I am actually using 74% of my battery.
I have some questions:
1.is there any way to change it and to return it to 100% ?
2.what makes it happen?
3.what can I do next time that it will not happen
Thank you for your help!!
Try battery calibration from play store
It's suppose to help my battery ? Or the only way is to change my battery to another ?

You don't need a battery calibration app. They only do what your phone (Android) can do anyway without a third party application, IF they do anything at all. Battery calibration apps are for me in the same category as TuneUp Utilities and supposed system tuner/optimizing apps that are nothing but placebo apps. But enough of that.
Apparently batteries on Android devices calibrate themselves upon every (almost) complete charging cycle. For reference.
Also, if you're concerned about your battery capacity, I advice you read into Battery University. They have section about this exact topic: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_measure_capacity
It looks highly technical but it really isn't that difficult to understand. Give it a try.

Firstly, I wouldn't trust what the app is telling you. Secondly, I'd chase down rogue apps that may cause your battery drain issues (if you have any). As to how to prevent early battery wear:
- Always keep the charge ABOVE 30% - 40%.
- You can't always control it but Li-İon batteries have optimal working temperatures. Li-İon batteries don't like being cold or too warm (50°C +).
For more info on how to prevent your battery breaking, visit the site I've linked above.

Ok , but my battery still drains fast , I get around 10 hours of use and 2 hours of screen .
When I full charge the battery it's writing 13 hours left to use, and it's seems that everyone else has better battery stats.

Accubattery is not reliable when estimating Battery Capacity, i think it reports 70-80% for all users.
If you battery has intact degraded then there is no way to restore it.
To reduce battery degradation, do not use quick charge, keep your battery between 30-80% battery, but honestly this is just nitpicking, if you are experiencing bad battery chances are it's just a case of a rogue app.
Also, depending on where you live, Samsung does offer replacement for battery if the battery rated capacity drops below 20% in the warranty period, but i highly doubt that it has.
And there is no easy way to accurately test your battery capacity.

No it doesn't, for the first 2 weeks with new S7 Edge it reported 100% and after 3 month now I'm at 95%. So it seems to report the value very well...

Losing 5% of the battery in 3 months is not at all normal. Normally you would lose 5-10% after 18-24 months of heavy usage, that's just how batteries work.
Or let me reiterate Accubattery is inaccurate for most people, there is really no way to accurately measure battery rated capacity on a software level.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Why do you think accubattery is not accurate? If you know the time and mA of charging you could calculate your battery capability.
For my s7 edge and after a month it gives 96%.
I think it could be right

My battery life is pretty bad but I don't know if that's the battery or the new software (7.0)..
For me accubattery shows that I am using only 74% of my battery every time..
Try to do a sort of calibration. Let your battery reach o% and charge to 100% for 3 times

Thats a very bad advise. Lithium ion batteries doesn't like to be completely empty. That will damage the battery.
You should always keep your battery at 20-80 for maximum durability.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
There are different opinions about this point. Lithium battery has to stay between 20 and 80 % and you are right... but someone tell that sometime you had to descharge and full charge it completely in order to renovate the power. In my personal experience i always keep my battery between 20 and 80 but when i make it have a full recharge cicle it gives better results

they said that Android 7.0 would be better for the battery length but I don't notice any difference. I'm not rooted and stock touchwiz.
In the beginning when I had the phone, I installed GSAM battery monitor and it showed the battery cycle was 20 hours or more (since 17 may 2016). it has been lowered ever since. 18 to 15 and now I checked and I see 13h 35 active...

Not as far as i know.
"Calibraing" your battery is not going to make it last any longer. If anything, it shortens battery life and serviceable lifespan.

Not quite. Remember that each and every time you do that, it unduely stresses the cells resulting in oxidation. Each and every time you do that, you shorten both the battery's operating time as well as its serviceable lifespan.
"Calibrating" the battery will not change how long the battery lasts.

I just came across it from the apple battery care html wherein it is stated "For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).". So I got curious about it cause at first I also knew that draining the battery would have negative effect on it. BTW thanks for the replying bro.

But I used my iphone at work to watch videos, ect while there is downtime. I usually watch while it's also on the charger
For the Note series, does anyone know if that "kills" my battery for long term?
I know you can replace battery, but just wondering for future use.
Thanks.
Issue with battery drain due to android system is real
All three people I know that just got the Note 4 were experiencing the same issue I had with excess battery drain with the always generic "android system" taking more battery than anything else including the screen.
I downloaded an app called "System Tuner" and looked the CPU% for Android system and it was a constant 3-4% when the phone was otherwise idle.
I found a post at http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/80459 where they were experiencing the same issue (lose around 12% battery an hour with android system taking a huge chunk of battery). The person from that post was able to address the issue by turning location off, rebooting, turning location on, and rebooting again. After I did this I saw Android system idle at ~0.6% - 1.1% instead. So far I'm getting much better battery life but I'll need to give it some time to know for sure.
Hope this helps!
mine took about 2 full days for everything to finish syncing, downloading, indexing, etc. I had books, news articles, pinned music from google play, etc.
Once that happened, everything is now "normalized" and I'm getting better battery life than I was with the note 3.

Short answer: Maybe, it depends on how you are doing it. Using it while it is charging is not necessarily bad but watching videos and keeping it plugged in while the cell voltage is pegged at 100% will likely deteriorate your battery faster.
Long answer + tips:
Lithium ion batteries are great - they are light, can be made very thin and have excellent energy density but they are also very finiky.
Things to avoid doing with a lithium ion battery
-Charging to 100%, leaving it plugged in overnight is a poor practice(high cell voltages reduce the service life*, stopping the charge at 90%[4.10v] can double the service life, stopping the charge at 80%[4.00v] can quadruple the service life.*)
- Discharging the battery to below ~20% (Li-Ion batteries are somewhat sensitive to deep discharges)
-Charging/exposing Li-Ion to elevated temps or below freezing.
*service life is defined by when a battery can only retain 70% of its rated capacity. Most consumer batteries used in mobile devices have a service life of 500 charge discharge cycles.
It is not uncommon for batteries to lose 30% capacity in 1.5 years or less. Changing your charging and handling habits can double or quadruple a batteries life span.

LOL your picture took up have my damn screen on my 1080p laptop with 15.7 in screen. It was crystal clear too.
On my 2nd charge, auto brightness. Pretty freakin' amazing battery life....
15.5 hours off the charger with 8+ screen on time!
I got awful battery life on the first charge cycle. It drained 50% overnight. 2nd charge has lasted amazingly long and I still have 64% after 12hrs of average use.
First charge. Battery life has been phenomenal. Brightness on auto.
Did u use any power saving features to achieve that time?
Did u use any power saving features to achieve that time?
Definitely improve battery with recent update and I'm a power user
After the latest update
I dont know why but my phone goes from 100-90 in less than a hr with minimal use while the screen is set at auto, also in the leaving it unplugged in the night the battery also drains like 5 points.
I've been at full brightness and using the hell out of it non stop so far, and I'm at 35% with screen on time at 3hrs 40 min.

Hi everyone!
I got a Note 4 a few days ago and it has battery issues.
I got it second hand online from a guy I don't know. I'm from Romania, I think the phone is from the UK, it's Verizon branded. The model is SM-N910V and the Android version is 6.0.1. It's not rooted. I noticed this V version isn't very common.
The battery that came with it was pretty poor, it would drain in a few hours with minimal usage and the worst problem is the phone would suddenly shut down at about 30-35% battery life. Then it would go into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in.
I bought a new genuine battery from a popular online store here (F64), battery life is better, but still with just wifi, it went to 50% in about 2 hours of browsing. Without wifi or data (very little), it lasted for a day and a half. But the phone suddenly shut down at 8% battery life, again going into a booting loop, without being able to actually boot until I plugged it in. I'd also like to mention, when the new battery came, it only had 4% battery life left (I heard they should come about half charged, is that true?) and also there were a few reviews from people who had to try multiple batteries from this store until they got lucky with a good one. Both the old and the new batteries look identical, I don't see any signs of counterfeit.
Should I return the battery and try a new one? Is there a chance there's something wrong with the device itself?
Thank you very much!
Common problem.

Return the battery.
The seller store the battery in a very poor way.
Lithium should be kept at around 40% charged if you store it for a long time (more than 1 month)
I have 5 batteries with me, 3 of them are considered broken (70 - 60% left)
The last 2 are still in very good condition, around 98 - 99%
About your device, you will need around a few days of charge cycle with a good battery.

Thanks for your answer. I didn't know batteries for this phone are so problematic.
I just charged it to 100% slowly from my PC, will use it normally and see how much the battery lasts and if it shuts down again. As I went through forums, some people say I need to do battery calibration. If it's still bad, I'll return it.
Thanks again!
Try to get a battery direct from Samsung. Failing that buy a PowerBear or Anker. Do a factory reset and calibrate your battery by fully charging it, then running it down to 0% (if it shuts down, keep turning back on until it won't turn on). Then charge fully back to 100% again - DO NOT USE FAST CHARGE.

I will look for a store somewhere. I don't think I can find those two brands here.

What I said before is for all phone that uses Lithium Battery.
Lithium Battery must be kept in a storage at around 40 - 80% charged & must avoid hot places if you don't use it for a long time.
Draining Lithium Battery to 0% will deteriorate the battery faster so it's a big NO.
Calibration is done on the phone not the battery.
Delete "batterystats.bin" to calibrate the battery gauge.
Calibration is useless if the battery is bad (you received it at 0% it means that the storage condition is bad thus the battery is bad.
Charging from PC is a BIG NO as USB port on PC only provide around 500mAh & usually it's unstable.
The charging rate is too low & it could deteriorate the battery faster too.
And the last....I think factory reset doesn't necessary reset the batterystats.bin, so you have to delete it manually if you are rooted or follow this link if you are not rooted.

Hi, I didn't return the new battery after all, I think it 'calibrated' itself after the first charge. Also it goes from 100% to 1% and shuts down properly now.
I did two tests on full battery:
- barely using it, no wifi, data etc, just a few short calls (probably 30 mins of OST) and it lasted almost 6 days
- stress test, wifi and data on, gps with maps and waze on, maximum brightness and and a very long youtube video playing constantly (screen on) and it lasted about 5 hours and 30 mins
In normal use it lasts me about 2 days, but it slightly worries me that if I keep mobile data on all the time it only lasts until the end of the first day.
Would this be considered a good battery life for the Note4?
Thanks to everyone for replying and helping!!
Hey all,
2 days ago, I got my Op5. Very happy with the phone, except for one thing : accubattery says that the capacity is just beneath 3100mah, instead of the 3300mah it should have. I let it run down and charged it to 100% and kept it on the charger for about one hour after that, still around 3100mah, according to accubattery.
How are your batteries? I'd like to know if this is a widespread issue.
How do you know that accubattery is correct?
Alan
Same here, but even lower. After 42 cycles is around 3000 mAh.

Well, since it is measuring the amount of current going in the actual battery, after some cycles you can assume with quite confidence the actual battery capacity. Besides, it will actually plot the measurement, so you can actually see if the data makes sense.
I'm curios also about the actual capacity, because this would be an indicator of why I have seen so much variation about the battery life on different handsets.
Man, I really don't care. Best battery life ever! (I came from OP3 and OP2 before that)

This app shows significantly lower capacity in almost all phones. To determine capacity you have to discharge battery completely (which is not 0% reported by system) and charge it with precise measurements (5 seconds sampling rate like Accubattery isn't enough). This app is like cancer. This is fourth thread in last two weeks about this **** app. Only things it does well is reporting false data gathered by pseudoscience method and drain battery by wakelocks. Do you need to mess up with battery stats? Get Google battery historian.

So, how some users like the one above achieve 8h SOT while others like myself neither 5. I'm even never play games almost, which is typical a drain source on phones.

There is no typical drain source. Everone has different apps installed, different usage, different settings... etc. I can achieve 8h SOT or 2h SOT too. Do you really think, that 10% of reported battery capacity loss would make 60% higher difference in SOT?

2l I use Hibernation Manager
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.root.battery.saver.sleep.hibernation
I've got plenty of apps and my SOT is between 5/6 hours with a medium/heavy use. I haven't almost any loss when the screen is off.

I have my Axon 7 a few weeks ago, and I have noticed the cell battery draining very fast, I used the lineage 14.1 and the battery lasted much longer, but at the price of the features, like the dolby atmos, I went back to the b10 stock. the A2017G), I use the smart battery mode, and anyway nothing, would have any solution for this? Some configuration or something.
Thank you

Did you buy the phone new ?
i have the same issue, bought this phone 5 months ago
i have tried accubattery pro version and in it it shows "estimated capacity at 1647mAh"
after unplugging it goes down very fast (1% every 2-3 minutes) even when screen is off
i am on slim5 version and using jojoc tweak
Wrong answer.

if you will change the battery, could you try the 3600 mAh replacement and tell me afterwards? I need to know if it's good before i buy it, because i can only grt it at about double or triple of its price

Accubattery showed my Axon I bought used at 1821 mAh. I changed out the battery and now it reads 2983 mAh , or 95% of the 3140 capacity. The rate of drop is relative to total capacity. Seems like the power cells in this model do not have a real long life span, maybe because of Quick charging ? IDK .

The lifespan is not the problem, your (both of you) batteries may have had a factory defect. My battery was used and abused in the worst way possible (Always quick charge, charge to 100% overnight from about 10 to 30%, rinse, repeat for about a year and a month. Result: about 2300 mAh. I'd say it's pretty good huh? ?
You can try using a USB mAh meter to confirm the readings. It measures how much electricity was actually sent to your phone during charge instead of what the phone hardware reports to a software app. I used it on everything from phones to digital cameras to AA batteries to check their true capacity.

i don't believe you need to check, since it actually reports around 3100 mAh with a new battery. That is pretty damn accurate.

That's about 25% loss in capacity in a year... not that great, 2300 mAh doesn't last awfully long powering the Axon. I bought my girlfriend a new ZTE Warp 7 over 2 years ago that has a 3000 mAh removable battery and a SD410 and the cell in it is has only lost 11% in those two years. It's a mystery to me as to whether it's quality control or multiple suppliers or some other factor , but it seems like there could be some inconsistencies in their batteries.

I think 25% is perfectly normal for a year of quick charge and leaving it overnight. Just think that an sd410 probably consumes far less than the 820. I've found my phone using north of 2.5A sometimes
But yeah, yours had a manufacturing problem maybe
Axon 7 was made with poor batter life. Dont listen to reviews. I used this phone and battery life even with no gsm and minimal usage was no longer than 6-7 hours. I tried to close all apps and turn all power hingry settings. Phone is amazing, but bot battery.

With a light usage, I hold almost 1.5 days with a 15 months old smartphone.
It's obvious that if you play heavily you have only few hours of battery. As almost smartphones...

nope. i had 8 hours of SOT when the phone had about 4 or 5 months.
Try Accubattery, it tells you your battery capacity. In my case it degraded badly over the course of a year and a couple months, up to 2300 mAh. Now I get about 3:30 to 4 hours of SOT with AEX Oreo and Swift Black theme
same problem with my AXON, SOT aboout +- 3hours, so what do you think about battery replacement? Tried someone?

of course, many people did. you just buy one and pop it right in, and it gets to 5h sot without any changes. Someone at the Hellsgate thread reported 7h30 SOT with 25% left just by using a specific governor. You just need to have a good battery.
Again, try Accubattery and see how much capacity your batt holds
estimate capacity is 2281mAh...so...can you recomend which type of battery ebay/ali I can buy?
