Hi,
I have my Gmail email forwarding to another POP email that is pulled down into my main email account on my PPC (Imate JasJar). What I'd like to do is set it up so that when I receive an email from someone who sent their message to my Gmail account I can send my response back to them showing a "from" address of my Gmail addy, not my POP addy.
I was able to do this on my Tmobile sidekick, I think by just setting up another email account that it never checked that had my normal POP settings but displayed a "from" address of my choosing. Then when composing a reply it allowed me to choose which addy I was using to send from.
I tried setting up a 2nd email account on my JasJar using my Gmail pop settings, but when I went to send an email from it also started to download 400-500 of my emails from my Gmail account.
There's got to be a way to do this, right?
Well, you could change the "outgoing mail" settings in your second pop account by choosing to use different outgoing settings, and entering your G-Mail settings.
That way you'd only have one pop account shown, which would receive mail from your second account only but send through your G-Mail account...
Hmm... That might work pretty out pretty well, I'm going to give it a test run today. Thanks fo the help.
Can someone tell me how to delete an Outlook email message on my handheld (mogul) without having it delete the same message on the exchange server? My blackberry would prompt me to delete on handheld, or both, which was an option I would like to have. Thanks

When you configure an Outlook or Email account on your phone there is a setting by the end of the configuration that specifies if you want to delete the message from the server or to leave it intact.
You can edit these settings by going into options on the main menu of your messaging screen. Edit your email account. Go through the settings and when you get to the screen with the [Automatic: Send/Receive] [Download Messages]. There is a link at the bottom saying Advanced Settings, click on it. Whithin this menu there is a scroll down option that allows you to either delete the message off the server or to keep it on the server. chose the one you want. Then save your setup.

Thanks for your reply Carlos. The options that you mentioned are available for my POP3 email account settings, but are not available when I enter the options for my Outlook email account. Thanks

Hmm my last gues would be that when you go into the outlook settings on your phone chose only to download the header or a small portion of the email that way it keeps the orginal / full message on the server. That is weird because I delete my email from outlook on my phone and it doesnt delete it from the server unless i go into outlook on my comp and once i delete it from there it will delete it from my phone once I sync.
Why not use IMAP?
I have found IMAP works a lot better then POP or any other feature. It's like a mirror image of looking at your email. Now with google supporting IMAP it's a nice token.

That's right, but with imap account you have to select too in: "option -> stockage [TAB] -> emptied delete folder: immediately".
Otherwise, messages will not be deleted from your computer.
It appears to me that if you are using exchange activesync, then you get exactly what is on the exchange server in the inbox.
I have set up some folders to help keep my PDA inbox uncluttered.
I write an application to show log to user, and I wanna help user to send log to selected application's developer directly, if it is downloaded from market.
I have to get email of application developer. Does anybody know how to
query the email address of application, like the "About the developer" field in "Market".
I have searched far and wide for a solution to the reply all bug, and I did find a solution on the MSDN blog.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/outlook_mobile/archive/2006/03/22/558605.aspx
However, the "My e-mail addresses" field is grayed out for me; and the only other post I could find online was something about it being unchangeable after account creation. I experimentally found a solution, and now I'm posting it here for archival purposes.
I had this issue on WM6.5.x with the gmail exchange server in outlook mobile 2010.
To reiterate; the reply all bug will add your own email to the list of recipients when you "reply all" to an email. The fix is to tell outlook what your email is, so it knows it shouldn't send it to you (apparently the exchange setup makes this unclear; see msdn blog link above). In order to fill out the field, I had to;
1. Open activesync, press "Menu" > "Options..."
2. Select "Microsoft Exchange" (or whichever account you're having this issue with) and delete it.
3. Now you'll have to set up your exchange server config again; but when you get to the screen where you select which services you'll be using (email, calendar, contacts, text messages, tasks), select email and press "Settings..."
4. Press "Advanced..." and voila! the "My e-mail addresses" field isn't grayed out anymore. Type your email address into it, press OK.
5. Finish the setup and resync.
Now, the "reply all" button will work as expected. If someone sends an email to you and you only, reply all will open a compose dialog to just that person (and not add you to the To: list as well!). I'm not sure what other peoples' preferences are, but ever since I got gmail, it's very rare when I don't want to reply all, so this fix was invaluable to me.
I just need to figure out how to add this to xda_uc; the activesync.xml doesn't seem to have an option for this.
This is a bug? How else do you keep a record of emails you send from your phone?
Yeah it's a bug. Sent messages go in the sent folder, you don't need or want a copy in your inbox...
Not to mention you'll get the mail received alert next time it syncs with exchange. And no, it's not someone replying to your email... it's the email you just sent. Very annoying.
My email retains the email addresses of ALL of the emails that I've sent or received. This includes those not in my contact list. When I start a new email they appear whenever I type the first letter in the "To" or "cc" fields. How can I delete these? Does anyone know the name of the file where they are stored? Thanks.
Fixed it.
I still haven't found where it's pulling the email address history from, but it can be turned of with the following registry edit.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Inbox\RecipientAutocomplete]
"MaxSuggestions"=dword:0
Mine was set to 4. After changing it to 0, presto-chango! No more email address autocomplete frustration.
