After installing the second official update from Moto, free memory increased from 7.6Gb to 8.3Gb. This happened when I installed first Nougat update also. So what's being cleaned up during updates?
I observed that all the cached memory of all the apps was cleared completely during/after the update.

I had a weird issue today. I tried to update a couple apps just because i checked in play store for updates. Nothing special. I hit the update all button and left the phone alone for a while.
When i got back, i got the message for every app which needed update, that there is not enough space available. I was shocked, since i knew i had a ton of memory left.
And after a check i found that i have around 7 gb free on the internal storage...
i tried to update the apps again one by one. but every app stops downloading at a certain percentage and its diffrent for every app which need an update.
if i stop the update process and redo it, the download will stop at the exact same position again. its the same percentage and also memory.
I already cleared cache and data of google play store. still nothing.
i wiped cache in stock recovery (no custom recovery installed, but rooted)
and still the same.
I also tried to uninstall one of this apps and reinstall it again, stops at the same point as before and now i cant even install it anymore....
what can i do?
I got a OTA notification yesterday, but could not download it because my phone did not have enough storage. So I cleared some storage and now I have over 6gb available. The notification that says that storage is too low to update disappeared. So I went to Settings and clicked the System updates. But, I found out that I cannot press both check for update and continue update menu. What should I do to update the software?
Maybe do a reboot? The update notification will show up again after some time. Although usually you should be able to force it by pressing the buttons you mentioned.
But honestly, if I were you, I'd be glad not being able to update.

I have a Nexus6p that was been freshly wiped and flashed with stock Nougat running latest October build. I signed up for the Google Beta program and immediately got an OTA. I downloaded it and i pressed reboot and install. It said rebooting.... 10, 9 8 etc. When the countdown finished it just stuck at rebooting and nothing happens. I leave it for a minute and think it's going to reboot itself. When I come back after 2 minutes the phone still hasn't rebooted to install so I cleared all the apps from recent apps tray and I opened the update menu again. The update menu said your system is up to date. I checked the storage menu and the ota files were still on my phone because google play services was taking up 1.8gb. I rebooted the phone to recovery and cleared the cache. I also tried using apply update from sd card but it just said sdcard was invalid. I booted back up and the files deleted themselves, and the system update menu still said your system is up to date. I cleared play services data, and unenrolled and reinrolled. I have to redownload the OTA again which is a waste of time and internet. Any idea what happened?
Hello, I recently got the September update for Moto X Pure and I want to know how to update my phone. I've read around and it seems that I need to restore to unrooted stock before I can flash the image as opposed to just flashing the image without doing anything else then re-install TWRP and reroot. Can anyone provide steps in how to do this?
Do you have systemless root?
Open SuperSU, settings, full unroot. if you have Xposed installed, you'll need to flash the xposed uninstaller through TWRP. Now to remove TWRP, you need to download the latest stock rom and flash only the recovery.img from your computer.
Honestly I wouldn't mess with it. It's just a security patch. Wait until Nougat gets to our phone in a month or so then do a clean install (or follow the steps above) with that.

Is there a way to stop the constant notifications that I have a system update that needs to be applied?
use titanium backup and freeze Motorola Update Services 8.0.2 , i believe should do it.
My question is where is the update stored?
can someone tell me the location in the root of the device that ota gets downloaded to?
I'm trying to find the latest security update and back it up, so I dont have to download it again if it is large.
I saw a huge hit on my montly data usage around 700mb which i assume was the update but all i found in /cache was Blur_Version.24.11.18.clark_retus.retus.en.US.zip and was only 6.53MB in size.
I also checked /data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/ ....nothing there
Thanks for any info.
I suspect my carrier is bloating my reported data usage, but i'm unsure.

The OTA update in January, dated Sept 2016, is 40.2MB in size and build number 24.221.8.en.US.
Not sure what is chewing up 700mb of data, but it isn't the OTA... Do you have automatic update on in the Play Store? There were tons of large updates in January, I may be exaggerating but it seemed like 2-3 times a "normal" month.
Hi there, i searched all over the net, but all i found were older ways to do it.
Anyway, I am on 8.1 and I have a pending Pie update bugging me (restart now to update), I do not want to do it until the camera issues with gcam are completely resolved.
I have unchecked the "automatic system updates" in developer options, but the update was downloaded before that, so it keeps nagging me to update. I am afraid that if my phone reboots / runs out of battery ill end up with Pie (happened to my gf and brother). Camera means more than pie to me
I am unrooted. Tried searching internal storage for anything mentioning OTA but to no success. Can anyone help me find/delete these downloaded temp files?
Thanks,
jaka
Since we have an A/B partition device, maybe the update have already been applied. You can try to disable update app through adb using a computer, but I guess if you reboot, your device will be updated.
