I got a OTA notification yesterday, but could not download it because my phone did not have enough storage. So I cleared some storage and now I have over 6gb available. The notification that says that storage is too low to update disappeared. So I went to Settings and clicked the System updates. But, I found out that I cannot press both check for update and continue update menu. What should I do to update the software?
Maybe do a reboot? The update notification will show up again after some time. Although usually you should be able to force it by pressing the buttons you mentioned.
But honestly, if I were you, I'd be glad not being able to update.

Another update!
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Softw...mware-update-for-the-Xperia-Z3-and/m-p/980932
Ensured the lock screen / notification bar doesn’t indicate “no service” when the device has coverage
Added a Sony feature; bringing back the "close-all-button" in the activity menu, so you can easily close all apps at once
Unblocked devices with server policies (such as Exchange Active Sync for e-mail), to enable the new Lollipop lock-screen notifications
Ensured the LED light is lit across all sound modes - and no longer offset by “silent”
Made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card (something we saw affecting a few devices)
Improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode – some conversations could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode
Finally a fix for the lockscreen notifications not showing if syncing Exchange with locking code policy!
Already flashed a rooted zip and running flawlessly with Xposed and everyhing
The notifications should have been fixed in 23.1.A.0.726 though, but I never got around to try it(it never appeard in OTA either).
Quick question, if I update using OTA will I loose root and recovery?

No you wont lose root or recovery if you OTA update just make sure you've not deleted any of the pre-installed apps other wise the OTA will fail to install.
update has popped up on my Z3 and says "could not verify"

Hey, I have the same thing.
I'm rooted and just checked, that I have uninstalled the "small apps" components. Do I need to install them to get rid of this annoying notification or other steps could be taken?
Edit:
I managed to close it with titanium, just hit "backup" on update center. However, before that I changed the setting 'don't update automatically'.
Cheers.

Where did you get the flashable zip? Can you point me to it? I've done all kinds of tweaks like removing system apps, so I can't use the official updater.
Edit: Found one here, haven't tried it yet tho... https://mega.co.nz/#!aZgC3K6A!vB5ZJplEq0Hlk5zgt1rqFYeanrhP_NYXnKfd0sA3xt4

I made my own zip. Glad you find one!
Can you provide the zip
Omnikai has already posted a link to one..
Can I just flash that over what I'm currently using? do I need to wipe anything?! I don't want to lose my application data
I flashed the zip I made myself without loosing anything, just wiped dalvik/cache.
Can you possibly upload the one you made??!
It's a Norwegian/Telenor specific rom, I guess you'd rather have the Nordic Generic from that link
And I don't have the zip available here, and no places to uploads.. Sorry.

If you mean "update service" I tried to backup and it says insufficient storage space even though I have 6gb.
Is it safe to freeze the service? or is there another way
Thanks

I have the Verizon variant V20 and rooted with Dirty Santa last night. I have gone into developer options and turned off automatic system updates, but it still downloaded an update today and asked to apply it. I hit the later option and delayed it until tomorrow. How do I delete that update file and prevent it from trying again in the future? I have TiBu installed, so hoping there is something I can freeze to prevent it.
Search for "system update" in titanium backup and freeze the two apps you see.
I don't know about deleting the downloaded update though... Browse through and find it?
I just froze the two system updates and also FOTA Update 7.0. Thanks for the help!
Anyone know the file names for the tmobile variant?
If anyone had an issue freezing these apps with TB just open up your dialer interface and type in 277634#*#
This will bring up a hidden menu and then select Wi-Fi test and then select OTA then select disable. After that you will have to kill the hidden menu and you shouldn't be seeing the annoying OTA icon in your status bar anymore.
Had this problem on AT&T H910 it's an easy fixer.
1. boot into TWRP go to wipe and clear cache and Dalvic and reboot
This rids you of the annoying wanna update msg and gives you time to fix it
2. Go to playstore and install DisableService
3. Open and find Software Update open it and disable everything reboot and your good 2 go....
4. Just in case... Go to Developer options and see if you have a checkbox for Automatic System Updates and turn it off ( after using step 3 it most likely is but turn it off anyway)
Just curious, can't u just go to Developer Settings and turn off "Automatic System Updates" ?
TBPro pulls "FOTA Update 7.0" and "System updates 1_16_02_0"
I've frozen both of them and assume that will do the trick for the popups. But would wiping their data remove the updates that they already downloaded (not installed)? Also, would deleting these apps cause any issue with the device? Just curious...

On Tmo H918. The above link has a pic that shows the screen mentioned below.
Here's how I got rid of a previous update:
Rename otacerts.zip in /system/etc/security to otacerts.bak.
The full update is found in the cache partition called update.zip. Move the update.zip file from /cache directory (I put it on the sd card).
The next time you get the notification, selected to install it. See the attached. It said rebooting. It won't reboot because the necessary file is gone. Wait 10 seconds and touch the recents key and close the window. Done!
I rebooted the phone and no nag.
Would just like to point out if you click on system updates it will still download, but it won't install you'll have to delete the update zip again, but you shouldn't get any notifications.

I tried this on my H910 and it says "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."
This is what I did on H918.

Does anyone else find a different wording of this "System updates 1_16_02_0" ? Am I the only person who's TiB shows it to be called "Software updates 1.16.02? I figure that this "Software updates" is what everyone is talking about because it has the same version build numbers with the exception of not having the trailing 0 at the end. It seems highly unlikely that there would be a coincidence where two different programs would have the same version build numbers.
I have had to restore my rooted factory ROM several times after I have tried to remove some factory installed things which apparently were too deeply tied into android to be safely removed. My nandroid backup which I often restore to is pretty much untouched with the exception of SU and TiB being installed. So I've had the luxury of dealing with this multiple times now. I just want to know if people are seeing a different program called "System updates" than I am seeing it as being called "Software Update."

Ok so i got into Download mode and LGUP recognized the phone...The issue you ask??? It was the usb port i had it plugged into...Here's more...
I didn't had the same issue as you, but had a similiar one (phone didn't get discovered neither by LGUP nor LG Flash Tool). Yesterday I fixed it by following this guide:

Hi there, i searched all over the net, but all i found were older ways to do it.
Anyway, I am on 8.1 and I have a pending Pie update bugging me (restart now to update), I do not want to do it until the camera issues with gcam are completely resolved.
I have unchecked the "automatic system updates" in developer options, but the update was downloaded before that, so it keeps nagging me to update. I am afraid that if my phone reboots / runs out of battery ill end up with Pie (happened to my gf and brother). Camera means more than pie to me
I am unrooted. Tried searching internal storage for anything mentioning OTA but to no success. Can anyone help me find/delete these downloaded temp files?
Thanks,
jaka
Since we have an A/B partition device, maybe the update have already been applied. You can try to disable update app through adb using a computer, but I guess if you reboot, your device will be updated.
Hi!
A couple weeks ago, I received an OTA update for my Moto G6+. Like most OTAs before, the phone downloaded it automatically but failed to install it. I was constantly getting a "Update unsucessful" error message every hour or so. Before, doing a factory reset would allow me to install the OTA , so I went through with it every two or three months, whenever there was an update available.
This time, however, I decided to root my phone. Why not. And I did! Magisk installed, Smali-patched to make fake GPS apps work fine, etc. I also unchecked the "Download updates" option in the Developer Options so I wouldn't get any updates (I can't install them, since the bootloader is unlocked now).
... but I still got one. And I'm still getting the same error every time the phone tries to install the update. So, my question is: is there any way to delete that update? I remember reading about a button combination during reboot that sent you to a menu with factory reset settings and all that, and going there would delete the OTA file from your device. I know I did it once. But I just can't find how to do it anymore!
Also, is there any way to prevent updates from being downloaded? I though that setting in the Developer Options would do the trick, but it clearly didn't.

To enter fastboot mode just press and hold volume down button while your phone is rebooting. When it's turned off just press and hold volume down + power
The latest OTA updates do not download a .zip file and save it somewhere on your device. It's stored in a cloud.
To prevent your device from starting the update you have to freeze the "Motorola-Updateservices" app.
Therefor open a terminal app and type:
Code:
pm disable com.motorola.ccc.ota

Hi,
I have a strange problem. I can't update my phone. It shows me a popup every other day that I am 90+ days behind the latest security update, but then I click on update now, and nothing happens. It then shows me a notification "Couldn't install update / Tap to learn more" when I do that, nothing happens.
I downloaded the Oxygen Updater app and downloaded the update, but when I try to go into the manual update, that also doesn't work. It shows up to date, and when I click on it, nothing happens. I took some screenshots. I already restarted it several times, but that also didn't work. The device is rooted I have Magisk 38ab6858 (25203)
Any ideas on how to fix that?
Thanks!
Since you are rooted you have to do full updates. Can't do incremental ones. Go to the settings in oxygen updater to switch from incremental to full. If I'm not mistaken, there should be instructions in that app how to do the local upgrade, but there should be an option in the system update menu to do the local upgrade.
Worst case, it sits a few security patches behind. Not a huge deal, but annoying.
Hope this helps.
Also, if you are able to update this way, don't forget to go to the magisk app to flash after the ota BEFORE you reboot, but AFTER the update installs.
Thanks but I can't even open the update menu. When I check the disabled apps the "Software update" app is there disabled and no matter what I do I can't get it enabled. I tried to delete the cache and files but still. Any other idea?

I don't have any work arounds for that sort of scenario. A factory reset would fix it, or perhaps sideloading the update file? I haven't messed around too much on stock so I'm not sure if that would be an option.

Doesn't OOS 12 require this special updater app? At least that's what's been shared on the Telegram group and it seems to work - I'm still on OOS 11 so I can't test or confirm.
That's the text that comes with the apk: "OnePlus removed the local update option in System Update in OOS12. They later released this APK to restore the functionality"
Can't hurt to try I guess?
You need to activate developer options
After this there is the local update option available under the "up to date" menu if you press the settings or tree dots in the upper right corner.
I cant be more exact because i dont own a op8pro anymore.
