i am just wondering so please dont post hate replies haha.
Apps:
Y5 (turns off/on wifi automatically when off/in range)
Sleepy Battery (turns off/on wifi when screen is off/on)
Task Killer Full/Advanced Task Killer Pro -(task closing apps when running in background and not in use)
the Y5 is meant to run wifi only in locations that are picked up and save to your device. the problem is that its constantly on even while its asleep/idle. does this actually kill your battery for being on constantly and monitoring the wifi's connection? having the app turn off wifi to save battery was a major battery saver for my blackberry so wondering if its the same with android nexus one.
the Sleepy Battery app disables wifi when the screen is turned off (sleep/idle) and enables wifi when screen is on. works well but does turning off the wifi off while the phones screen is off save battery vs having wifi on even when the screen is off? does turning off/on wifi on screen on/off waste more battery then having it on or off?
also, if using the 2 apps (Y5 and SleepyBattery) fight over enabling/disabling wifi make the phone drain due to constant active programs trying to execute the tasks?
hmm...
now moving on to task killing programs, does having them open on startup and keeping them on kill your battery while monitoring apps that are left on? the idea would be great to have apps automaticlly close when going to the home screen and forgetting to close apps that are not required to be open when not in use.
these apps sound like they should work great if they in fact down kill your battery! if the y5 does save battery while not using memory future updates with added option to turn off the wifi when screen is off included in the app would be an ultimate wifi app for power managing!
*i would like to note i currently dont have task killing apps installed although when i did they only was to close apps i know could be closed without them restarting like slacker radio, pixelpipe, and other apps that are used and can be closed and are not required to be running in the background.
+1 I really like this post because those are some programs that I'm going to pick up. I hope you get your questions answered because I wonder the same thing. Thanks for making this post.
Has anyone found any useful ways of saving battery using smartactions that they'd like to share?
The most effective one that I use is turn data off when screen is off. Many smartphone manufacturers (this needs an acronym...SMFs??) say data when screen is off is 'the big leak' of battery. An app called Juice Defender had an advantage - it allows you to turn on data when you specify, e.g. every 15 minutes just for a minute to let data sync - e.g. email, what's app etc.
I also use the Low Battery and Powersaver inbuilt actions.
I love MIUI but was very dissapointed when the S4 mini ROMS (MIUI6_5.5..29v2_Multi - KK.4.4.4 and Unoficial MIUIv5 KitKat 4.8.24 from s4 mini (i9190/i9195) left me with a battery drain of 10% per hour.
I know that most people here seem to be running fine on this ROM, but maybe this can help someone who encounters similar problems. I have the I9195 black edition euro, and after fiddling around for days I am now at ~2% battery drain per hour.
Always on LTE heavy bandwith usage (bright green in battery manager)
Had to set up a custom battery usage profile with the switch 2G/3G on. (Power->Power Settings->Profiles)
This didn't really made the system switch between networks, but it changed it to LTE low bandwith usage (olive green)
Smart Network is a feature rich tool to setup connectivity profiles for screen off and on.
IMO better than Intelli3G. With screen off 2G I connect to EDGE, which still provides minimal data for checking IMAP or whatsapp.
Google Services battery drain
I prefer Disable Service, since it shows which processes are active (blue) and can sort them according to CPU time.
There are different guides and lists on the web what services are safe to disable.
Make a backup in CWM, then go to battery usage and look what consumes battery.
Consult lists and use Disable Services to stop the processes.
Delete MIUI apps
System App Remover is your friend. You might have to stop the process first in order to be able to uninstall the app.
There are bloatware lists and system apps which are safe to remove. It depends on what features you want to use.
In my case "backup", "blocklist" and "assistant" were often running.
Battery Guides
Here is another useful guide. There are more topics like kernels with different governors or even undervolting, but I think these will have a minor impact on battery life.
Greenify
Didn't work for me. For 3€ you can use the experimental features of this app to freeze system apps, but I was more sucsessful in optimizing manual.
I want to thank all the people who put their effort into ROM development or creating useful guides.
Peace out.
I have same problem. Battery draining %1 per minute. When I use the my phone 5 minutes, the screen is too hot. So i can't touch the screen. I tyr al lot of methods. But I can't solve the problems. I have 9190. I'll try your methods. I hope this will solve my important problem.
set battery mode on efficient
Hello everyone, I am experiencing the worst battery life I could ever get from a phone, Any way to help it get better? I need to charge my phone 2-3 times daily!
Here are the screenshots of the usage.
Same here as well. I'm on the new Oreo that now has been pulled. Lots of errors, missing picture in picture, but biggest mistake is that all files are allowed to be installed without consent!. How to now go easy back to Nougat?

Are you also having the same problems?
Go to device maintenance click on battery. Click on MID choose customize option at the top before you apply. I just leave the limit cpu speed on. I get over an hour sot every 18% YouTube alot and music. Only thing is apps start to lag when you switch really fast. But it probably won't if you don't close it. I have a habit of closing all apps before I turn my phone off. Whatever govener Samsung is using always max out the cup when you click something which drains the crap out of the battery. I use to charge my phone every half of the day until I did this. Closing and disabling apps didn't help at the beginning. This was the most effective way for me to see a big difference. Btw using auto brightness at 45%

Will try, thanks!
Install a data monitoring apps, maybe you have some apps working in the background and draining the battery at the same time.

having data on chows battery, phone is excessively pinging towers, if you are on WiFi disable data in settings, make sure your location is set to battery saving (if using GPS yr battery will suffer, plus one only needs GPS for navigation), there are a bunch of bloatware apps and processes that run continually so install a package disabler or use a debloater to remove the 'junk'.

I am on data 24/7 I am only allowing 3G/2G to work, maybe that's the problem?
This time I tried something new, I entered *#0228# code when the mobile was at 15%, turned on Airplane mode and let the phone charge till 100%
I also turned location off and thing started getting better

Havng data on 24/7 will hurt, even just 2g/3g as phone is pinging towers for 3G, if you are i wifi area switch of Data, that'll be worth 20%
After Oreo update, I'm having the best battery saving of all time.
0.8%/h on stand-by (using dual Sim cards). 6-7h SOT. On Nougat, it was 3%/h on stand-by and only 4-5h SOT.
I did 4 things to achieve it (without root):
1. I followed this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/help/guide-hunting-wakelocks-battery-drain-t3697324
Note: "Service Disabler" functionality was removed due to Google Play policies. Fortunately, the developers provided the previous apk with this functionality at their website: https://kunkunsoft.wordpress.com/news_2/
2. Switched to 3G when 4G signal was weak (2-3 bars).
3. Used Brevent app (must use adb commands every reboot, unfortunately): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.piebridge.brevent
4. Used Tasker to: disable WiFi when Screen-off (except when Spotify is playing); disable Auto-Sync when Screen-off and enable it every 20 minutes; put Location Services to Battery Saving when Screen-Off (except when Waze or GMaps is running) and High Precision when Screen-On.
AutoTools (Tasker plugin) will let you modify some of those adjustments even without root (must enable it once via adb commands).
BBS and GSam are great tools to find out what's draining your juice. For me, it was mainly wlan_wakelocks (due to bad WiFi configuration), nlp_wakelocks (apps and Google apps draining when High-Precision is on), and Auto-Sync. Sometimes it's harder to identify the culprit because many apps wakelocks are hidden in Kernel wakelocks, so the first step above helped me significantly reduce Kernel wakelocks.
Cheers. ?

You have used your S8 continuously within 6-7hrs.. S8 does not have bigger battery plus the apps like facebook, other social media apps drain battery like hell... getting 3-4 hours of Screen on Time is quite OK not Bad...
try using other app for facebook.. like FRIENDLY.. it almost same as facebook and battery friendly also...

GBWhatsapp aka Whatsapp Plus.
I use it most of the time that's why it uses much battery.

That's interesting, I use it all the time as well and for me it never goes above 2% or 3%. Only thing is that I don't do calls.
See my other post here.
I just can't seem to get there. I'm on stock, latest, unlocked, not rooted. I can go to battery|battery optimization and turn off battery optimization for apps but Bluetooth isn't listed. I can go to apps, show system apps, see Bluetooth, it shows battery is being optimized, if I click to change it takes me to list of apps like above where I could do it but Bluetooth isn't listed.
It's kind of important, I'm a diabetic and wear a glucose sensor but the phone loses touch with the sensor too often. I have to carry my old phone just for that at the moment...
Thanks!
MC
This workaround may help.
I experience the same with my OnePlus 7. I think I deactivated all battery saving options for xdrip+ and even disabled the "sleep standby activation" in the androids battery > battery optimization > advanced optimization settings. But still one hour after falling asleep my device doesn't get any more readings until I wake the screen. Could you find a solution? Perhaps we have to flash a custom ROM to get rid of some unadjustable system settings?
I will try the workaround from Glaux. Needs another night.

Advanced battery optimisation
Hi
There is an advanced menu accessed from the battery optimisation page, the one with all the apps.
You need to click the 3dots and select it. It seems directly related to bluetooth and the other radios sleeping.
