Any light bleed problems ?
Hi !
Do you know if it's possible to use a Jap keyboard with (in my case) an Eee Pad Transformer bought in Europe ?
I'm wondering if the Android in this Jap version has something different to handle the Japanese keyboard layout
Mine is ok. Only keyboardd is lagging
A few guys at Japanese Q&A site tried the standard keyboard. They report that the keyboard layout remain as Japanese. The keyboard layout must be hardcoded inside the firmware. I have read somewhere here that you can change that file if you have root access. In your case I think it will follow your firmware layout. I'm not sure.
Man, I'd love to get my hands on one of those. As it stands, whenever I want to type in Japanese I have to remove the Transformer from the dock and switch to a different on-screen keyboard and use that.
I've made a CWM package for fixing the layout of Japanese dock.
Why Japan is always the last everytime?
Why the whole world has the 3.1 and japan doesn't?
Any news about a possible update? I bought the transformer for my partner and here in japan (the foreigner version is overpriced) and as it's not my toy I do not feel confortable to root and everything (as I did for my N1 and her O1).
Any hope for an update? I am really pissed off!
@ilcontegis: Same with me. The rest of the world will probably get 3.2 and we will still be stuck on 3.0 here in Japan (
@whirleyes: So except for the Japanese input with the dock, everything else is working fine with prime 1.5?
If you find a way to get the Japanese input working, please let us know. I want to install prime so that I can get 3.1 of android, but I don't want to give up Japanese input..
Really wish they would hurry up with a stock update

I will wait a bit more, let's say 1 month...if nothing comes up I will root. It is really annoying because the 3.0.1 is pretty laggy and I know that the 3.1 is a REAL improvement for the transformer!
@ilcontegis : I've waited enough before going to Prime 1.5. Just to make sure there's no initial defect. For me, root is a must. So I don't mind upgrading.
@The-Original-Ki : The input is now working. But hankaku/muhenkan/kana key is not functional. I have to use CTRL + SPACE to switch between kana/roman.
You'll need FSKAREN.apk, libkaren.so & libhwr_u_jni.so files from original rom. If you plan to upgrade just make sure u have the backup of data & system partition. It will be handy.
Hopefully they release JP 3.1 soon so that I can fix the hankaku button with the files from it.
Thanks for the update whirleyes.
Yeah they are way too slow getting the JP update out. Seems like other countries are about to get 3.2 already.
I might wait for the 3.2 to come out before going the custom rom. I don't want to have to go through the process twice in a matter of days.
Japanese Keyboard : double consonant issue
Hi there,
I'm in Japan and considering buying a Transformer. However, as I was trying the hardware keyboard, I was disappointed by the fact that when I write in Japanese something like "motto" ("more" in Japanese) it will not change automatically into hiragana (japanese alphabet) the whole word (I should see something like もっと). It will show the first "t" in roman alphabet (something like : もtと). So I will have to press the space key to change it to full hiragana (もっと). This looks like a systematic double consonant problem that does not exist with the Iconia, as I could compare.
Do you know if there is something that can be done concerning this issue ?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Dam
I have a Japanese version with a Japanese keyboard. I've already rooted and installed prime and then an overclocking kernel on mine so I'm not 100% sure if this will work in your case or not but... I installed Simeji (a popular Japanese input method for android devices), and when I use the hardware keyboard, everything works as it should. Supposedly Simeji updated recently specifically with regards to compatibility issues with honeycomb.
Finally a thread about the Japanese TF. The 2chan threads are a bunch of garbage for the most part :/
I'm waiting for a way back to JP firmware before upgrading to prime. I'm liking FSkaren over simeji because it has handwriting input for kanji (I'm still learning Japanese and so if I don't know the yomi, handwriting helps.)
It's too bad that gingerbreak doesn't work on the 3.0.1 JP firmware otherwise we'd have a pure root. Does anyone know how to use NVFlash well enough to make a NVFlash stock restore? That would help a lot in case any JP TF users need a warranty repair (my first TF had a faulty latch on the dock and crackling speakers).

Thanks for your answer ! I heard about Simeji that I used on another android (it is this app that is also used on the Iconia as far as I understood). I will try this soon !

For those with custom rom, you can fake the build.prop to download this dlpkgfile file.
BTW, I'm on Prime 1.6. I change these line in build.prop & press the Check Update button. The file is downloaded to cache folder.

It looks a little small compared to the other region updates.
Any chance you can post the file for us who are not rooted yet? (Asus doesn't have it posted on their site yet and my office doesn't have wifi)
Somehow I think that you may not be able to restore to stock with it if it doesn't have the files for the restore partition.
3 more hours till I can leave T_T

It's a patch files. 70Mb is a lot because of patching from honeycomb 3.01.
Just finished restoring. With a little modification to the update script, I've manage to do it.Now I'm back to JP stock rom.
Already missed the root
Anyone know of a Unicode 8 updated iOS emoji replacement mod? All the old ones I know of are pre-Unicode 8. Looking for a flashable zip ideally.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/mod-apple-8-3-diverse-color-emoji-t3136169
Hello everyone
Unfortunately the new emojis from unicode 9 aren't compatible with our beloved Xperia keyboard (really love it) I think not even with emojis from unicode 8 (the new that came with marshmallow), Actually they are only compatible with Google keyboard from Android N dv2+
Since the new emojis are really Awesome I wonder if any good fella here could mod the latest Xperia Keyboard (7.3.A.0.20) for it to be capable to show the new emojis
Unicode 9 emojis just got released Wait a while till someone makes a mod for it, or try yourself
Does anyone know how to change the type of emoji at the system level? Touchwiz has come a long way and I really am okay with it now but Samsung's version of the emojis is still horrendous. I would prefer to change it to the style of the iPhone. I have searched and cannot find a way to change it without root. I know you can use different keyboards and messengers that offer different styles but I am wanting to change the emoji on the system level. Does anyone know of a possible way to do this without root?
I would love to be able to do this too. I hate the samsung emoji so much.
Please..... Samsung emojis are nowhere close to iPhone or even stock Android emojis... they are terrible.
Here Here
where can i get newest samsung emojis ttf font ?
There is no wa to change emojis without root. Emojis files are located in the system partition. You can't access or edit it without root.
You still can use an other SMS app with included emojis if u want other emojis for SMS but I think it's the only way
If you want to change your emojis at a system level, u have to root
If I root my phone, to change the emoji's and then I unroot it, is it going to work or I will have problems?
Rooting you will probably trip Knox and void warranty

I changed the samsung keyboard to google's gboard on my galaxy s8 and hoped the emoticons that are with the keyboard would change too to the default stock android version or something but to my shock they did not!
I now have a trauma of these appaling emoticons. (!)
I do not want to root so if there is another way.. I would thank the universe and the person that knows the solution on my bare knees and cry.
Hello there, i have the same question. I would like to add an emoji to my keyboard and i also have root, but don't know how to do it.
Using oreo here.
Where are the emojis located on the phone ?
Thanks.

Thanks for your answer but i am looking for something else. I want to add a custom emoji that is not available on these keyboards. I added the emoji in the attachments and i want to add it to my samsung s8 keyboard. How can i do that ?
While exploring the Samsung keyboard apk i didn't find a place to copy my emoji to. P.S : i have root
So i am looking for the location of the emojis but can't find them. The only thing i found is in Samsung Keyboard/ assets/ xt9emoticon but inside are 3 .msdb files which i cannot open and neither am i sure that these are the locations of the emojis. Can someone point me where these emojis are stored in the keyboard.apk ?
Thanks
I downloaded the above mentioned app and it changed the emojis which, i think, simplifies my work. I downloaded the IOS emojis from the "Emoji changer" app and installed them on my s8 . Now i only have to find out where the downloaded emojis are stored and in what .format so i can add my .gif
Although i don't know if the .gifs are accepted as emojis
Hello,
sorry if this was asked already before, but is anyone else having problems with Huawei stock theme app? To be more precise, I've encountered problems only with 3rd party theme apps, such as this one : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=emui.en.com.S9_UX9&hl=en.
In my case, mentioned theme gets applied only partially (color and style in apps like messages and dialer are changed, but status bar icons along with navigation bar icons remain unchanged). Running stock, without root and with locked bootloader.
My model is FIG-LX1C432
Currently on version 8.0.0.170.

Hi, I'm actually a developer of a system called Pixel Platform that is based on EMUI 8.0.0 for the Huawei P Smart and this has also been a problem for me
To avoid confusion I would like to explain something
the end numbers represent different features ( higher number means newer features but not newest software released )
for example this month 8.0.0.146 was released before 8.0.0.137, but next month 8.0.0.137 could be released before 8.0.0.146 ( Huawei releases the same version every month but with newer security patches ) so even though 8.0.0.146 has newer features it is not the newest available software.
8.0.0.139 or 8.0.0.138 is where Gesture navigation was introduced but theming became broken ( started showing up around November/December so it has been around for a while existing through multiple versions )
As much as i'd like to update my software base to newer than 8.0.0.137 I can not as theming is broken on newer than 8.0.0.138/8.0.0.139
You are not alone in experiencing this and I am surprised it hasn't been reported as much

Thank you for the elaborate and quick answer.
I see, it is good to know that I am not the only one facing these problems, but yeah it sucks...
While on the topic of versions, may I ask how did you downgrade/install version 8.0.0.138?
I've tried all methods I could find, and still nothing. It is strange that hard resetting phone with dload method cannot be done, as installation aborts at 5% with an error..
Thank you for you time once again.

I have an unlocked bootloader so I can use firmware finder and Hurupdater
DLOAD method does work but it is not as simple as just using update.app like it used to be
you could message my facebook page "Livitech development" and I could walk you through installing a specific version for your phone model through DLOAD
