Am i the only one here hyped with the newest AOSPA?
Arter97 is a known developer for samsung devices and now OP3, he seems to bring a lot of cool feature in terms of kernel and sd card format.

Hopefully those features will be carried over to N6P. I'm really looking forward to this rom.

But the 6P doesn't have a SD card slot for those features.

the whole internal partitions will be using F2FS. System, Cache etc.
Any window on a release day?

IIRC, N6P can't format either system or cache to F2FS. It requires more space than the partition has available. Can anyone comment on this?
No Nexus or Pixel device has an external SD card. So,...It will be different than other ROMs.

What are some of the roms in the mytouch 4g thread that support appstoext4, currently using a zip file that supports apps2sd (thanks to that dev) but i do prefer using the ext partition. I also prefer aosp to sense, but if there are some sense roms that support apps2ext i will def check them out. Thanks for looking @ my thread and any information is welcome
Why would you need the ext partition in MT4G? ~1GB of internal RAM isn't good enough?
And if you're talking about reformatting /data with EXT4, why is it of any concern?
No, 1gb of ram is not enough for everyone especially me. I have tons of apps/games i install to my phone and the only way i can do this atm is with apps2sd which is decent, but having them installed to an ext4 partition makes them run faster then if they were on sdcard. It's ok i understand why you would think 1gb of ram is enough.
If you're installing the downloaded part of the game on the internal memory (it's not RAM, my mistake - it's probably best to refer to as just internal memory), I can understand why.
In any case, the solution might be to use A2SD by DarkTremor on any ROM that you like, which you're probably doing already. I don't think many ROMs bother to support A2SD initially, since the demand for it is very small.
Ya, using dark tremors flashable zip for the moment until i can either find a rom that supports apps2ext(4) or someone educates me on which rom does support it lol Either way problem is very temporary anyways since my upgradeis in August...tho i may just wait till the Hercules or Nexus 3 come out since my last phone was a g1. This MT4G i got from craigslist with a sweet deal and blows away the g1 haha
Hi all,
Actually this is a 2 part question.
I just updated my i9505 to CM12 lollipop.
1. This is a minor problem out of the 2. The internal storage bar shows a wrong proportion. As you can see, I have 1.81GB available but it's taking up half the meter bar for some reason.
2. From the photos you can see I have 13.31GB available on my external SD card, yet when I tried to move some apps from internal storage to SD, lollipop is giving me an error saying "Couldn't move app. Not enough storage space." Which is obviously not true. I also tried using Link2SD but it gave me an message saying "INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR".
If anyone could give me some advice on how to fix the mentioned problems I will be very grateful.
Thank you in advance,
Nelson

Hi thanks for replying.
It is a clean flash. I downloaded it from cyanogenmod.

well a user reported that app2sd isn't working for him.

Guys I still can't move app to SD. It says "not enougth free space" or something similar.
Searching on the web I found other people with the same problem but no valid solution. My SD is 32gb and fat32. Tks

as i have not tested CM12 yet but Cr-Droid based on CM12, i dont have storage problems actually. but i'm on 4.4.4 now actually.
ok thanks. I assume it's a problem with CM. I guess all we can do is wait for updates!
May not be a CM problem...

Hello All,
I am a long time user of custom ROMs for my devices, as I'm sure most here are. I have had my Shield tablet (wifi only 16gb version) since January, and in that time I have tried many ROMs. The only one that has allowed app to be installed onto the SD was the rooted stock Lollipop. I have tried, PAC (KK and LP beta), CM12, and ASOP 5.0. All fresh installs of these ROMs have lead to the infamous 'Couldn't Move app. Not enough Storage Space.'.... Therefore, I am waiting patiently for a solid ROM that allows App2SD. Keep up the good work!
Is there a way to remove adoptable storage from a custom rom? Or are there any AOSP based roms that have it removed?

Can't you use the standard external sd option rather than adoptable? You do have the option, no?

Yes, but everytime i use that option it says my sdcard is corrupt....its happen on 3 different roms trying several sd cards.

Yeah, welcome to MM! All the bugs, none of the fixes. As far as I know, it can't be "removed", but you could ask again any of the Rom developers. This is a pretty generic question though, not specific to this device.
Hello All
A friend is visiting me and he wants to use the SD as internal storage on his SM J500F phone.
I only found one article on XDA. Can someone confirm if this is a working solution?
Thanks
tell him not to do it, it will slow his phone down and decrease perfomance

Yes, a lot of apps will be crashing, because most of apps nowdays are not meant to be stored on sd card, and phone storage will never be same as sd card storage, that is why the perfomance will go down.
Well in my opinion is one of the best options to be made to a j5 as it does not have enough storage to support the apps of today so my recommendation would be to put internal sd and leave you the necessary zip to do it
I think better option is to move to to SD card, by doing this i have 2.5 gb available, even though i have so many apps, but still, he can give adoptable storage a try and decide for himself

There is a method for Root users via Root Essentials or work around stock settings. I was able to get Adopted internal storage on stock 6.0.1, No luck on CM13 as the kernel doesent allow it.
@kiwigi I think that better is a debloated Rom and native app2sd. You should test and pick what you find better for you. I personally avoid as much as I can craps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc. which are always the great responsible of out of memory and so.

Thanks. Have you got a suggestion for a debloated tomorrow? Or is there an option of rooting then debloated ourselves?
Or root and move apps to SD?

"debloated ROM (not tomorrow, dum spell correct)

Actually, googling things like debloated AOSP, debloated Lineage bring us very interesting things. We know that all stock roms need root and our work to recover valuable space. I like the CM/AOSP branded roms. There are lot of threads here in XDA about customize and debloat and apps to do such and that works with SD managing as well ?
Hopefully now there are plenty J5 roms for you to taste and choose.?
I want to use sd card as internal storage, and use it to download large files from playstore, but could not find solution please help.
Hi! So this is rather a request or a brainstorming on a certain subject but I've been testing with the available roms and kernels. For some reason most roms do not support the well known and widely used exfat file system. Even when it is supported in their kernel the system still won't see any partition that runs under exfat. No big name kernels were able to detect my exfat partition. Pixel Experience, Lineage OS, dotOS, miracle DROID, AOSP etc. None. Not even after flashing Electra Blue, Franco, Inferno and such famous kernels that said to have support. KudKernel is the only one that allows their users exfat file system usage. I dig deep into the subject and even tried to inject exfat support via sudo and scrips to certain kernels but I failed miserably. Do you think it is possible to make any kernel support exfat or just those kernels that use the latest Linaro toolchain?

The trick is to discover how KudKernel does it.

This is what's done in kudkernel

Whether or not I find out what's done in kud kernel and how does it support exfat sd card I can't do a thing about it since it'd need me to recompile and rebuild any other kernel that does not support exfat. Which is rather problematic for me, a non-ubuntu/Linux user who knows nothing about coding in that area. Ergo I'm still in the same situation I started from . -.
By the way I only get know of it today that I can't rebuild a kernel on Windows.

You are correct - you will need to build the kernel yourself. Or you can ask the developers of your favourite kernels (or ROMs) to add sdfat support. It is a fairly painless process, which would take a developer less than 5 minutes to do. Of course, they might not be interested in doing it.

Technically, yes. But you can install VirtualBox on your Windows PC, and create a Linux Virtual Machine (VM) under VirtualBox. When you boot up the VM, you are running full-blown Linux - alongside all your other Windows stuff.
