ANDROID NOUGAT UPDATE CONFIRMED BY SAMSUNG?
UPDATE 3(LATEST) : Samsung Vice President of Turkey just revealed a development roadmap which includes the Galaxy J Series on it
Source: https://www.sammobile.com/2017/02/1...laxy-note-5-in-turkey-by-the-end-of-february/
UPDATE 2 : Galaxy J3 Emerge receives Wi-Fi certification running Android 7.0 Nougat. Since this device has only 1.5GB ram, this adds to my point that Nougat doesn't needa minimum of 2GB RAM to run Nougat
SOURCE: http://certifications.prod.wi-fi.org/pdf/certificate/public/download?cid=WFA69536
UPDATE 1 : Some claim that for a phone to be eligible for Nougat, it must have Vulkan API. But based on this article section provided below by Android Open Source for Nougat. It doesn't necessarily need Vulkan API to run so J7 2015 has still chances of getting NOUGAT http://source.android.com/compatibility/
7.1.4. 2D and 3D Graphics Acceleration
Device implementations MUST support both OpenGL ES 1.0 and 2.0, as embodied and detailed in the Android SDK documentations. Device implementations SHOULD support OpenGL ES 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2 on devices capable of supporting it. Device implementations MUST also support Android RenderScript , as detailed in the Android documentation.

EVIDENCE 2
Here are the Samsung Devices that will get the nougat update (compiled by SAMMOBILE)
Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016/2017)
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016/2017)
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016/2017)
Samsung Galaxy A8
Samsung Galaxy A9/A9 Pro
Samsung Galaxy S6
Samsung Galaxy S6 Active
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
Samsung Galaxy S7
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung Galaxy S7 Active
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
SamMobile is also claiming that it expects the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) to be upgraded to Nougat, but there are no confirmations for those devices.
For Galaxy J7 2015 I also expect that it will get the Nougat update since A3 and A5 (16) is on the list and as we all know, A3(16) is inferior than J7 (15) in terms of specs while A5(16) have similar specification with J7(15). Some also claimed that Nougat update needs atleast 2GB of RAM (J7 15 has 1.5GB) . But remember that A3(16) has only 1.5GB of ram but is included in the list. So it's up to Samsung now whether to push through with this update or not.
THIS IS JUST MY OWN SPECULATION . YOURS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME. FEEL FREE TO POST.
Yeah, they will release Nougat for J5/J7 2015, but on august I think.
I don't care for nougat that much. It would be great if there were ways to patch the later security updates to mm touchwiz rom without waiting for Samsung to do so. Another gripe is touchwiz multiwindow. I heavily use that. Would love official support on mm.
I dont think samsung upgrade j7 .all midrage device stuck with one or two uodates
MM will be last update for j7 ....
It would be great to see Android N come to the galaxy j7 2016 but who actually knows if it will come to the phone.. my guess is they will give the j7 prime android n and keep marshmallow on the 2015 and 2016 j7. Custom roms sometimes turn out superior over a stock rom with the right devs working on the project. I think id prefer a custom Android N rom. Cause wifi hotspot will be unlocked, performance tweaks, a whole lot of custom stuff and most importantly root access..

This gives us hope! At a minimum porting from the A5 (2016) will be easier.

Beats audio by Dr Dre By Rock Dev
Xda developer team RockoDev has successfully ported the HTC beatsaudio and also Xloud to any of the android phone [non-HTC]. It sounds better in quality and make it even louder in volume. You may test it with your beats audio headset, you will hear the difference. The Beats Audio is NOT an apk file but in zip instead. You can flash it via CWM or with root explorer. Samsung SG2 beatsaudio version is available too. Check it out after jump.
AGPS Patch Galaxy S II By crypted
Use this if you're having GPS issues (unreliability, no functionality, etc.)
This patch provides a worldwide solution to the GPS issue for multiple devices. Using a general ROM without this has resulted in 10+ minutes of GPS delay. Also, the GPS lock kept being lost.
By using this patch, most people experience a GPS lock within 10 seconds (2 - 20 seconds range can be expected). Typically, a device using this patch will lock onto 7 - 9 satellites. Users have reported up to 11 satellites being locked at once. Without this patch, the average satellite count is 4.

Heimdal Flash Suite v1.3.2 By Glass Echidna Download
Heimdall Suite, an Open-Source Cross-Platform set of tools designed to flash firmware to Samsung devices, has received an incremental update to version 1.3.2. This latest update supports Galaxy S II GT-I9100, Galaxy Player, Captivate, Vibrant, Fascinate, Mesmerize, Epic 4G, Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G, GT-I9000T, Galaxy Tab (7 and 10.1 inches) and of course the Galaxy S GT-i9000. If your Samsung device is not listed here, testing is required.
Heimdall has always been a favorite among kernel developers and those who frequently flash the latest kernels because no flashable update.zip or Odin packaging is required. A Heimdall user can simply put their device into Download Mode, and click a button to flash a new zImage directly. XDA Recognized Developer Benjamin Dobell‘s latest release improves compatibility with Loke (the flash receiver on the device) and expands comparability to several new devices.

I can do that, but due the lack of interest. I am forced to discontinue the product. I am sorry, but it wouldn't have been a problem to add versions.
Only the ported applications require a version, so far they are all ICS only
the beats audio is a hoax and should be removed from the list

I am actually using it myself and I do notice any difference, but the dsp manager wasn't working, however if you find a flashable audio mod that is easy to install, I am willing to add it to the list.
All I'd need is a:

Description
File Link
Reason why you'd like to add it

Ofcourse it's possible to do this yourself, but the process will take ages since they don't open source the software.
If Samsung would give out the sources of their touchwiz rom, it would be a bit easier.
Porting from the Note 3 for example is really hard cause of the differences in our hardware.

I have been waiting for Stock 4.4 custom. Finally it will come soon
June is a bit late
Since the day Google officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop in it’s finalized form many manufacturers like Motorola, Sony and HTC have detailed their plans for the future updates and as usual Samsung is lagging behind. Today our sources at Samsung’s R&D division have been able to send us with what is said to be the “very first update road-map based on Android 5.0 for Samsung Galaxy smartphones”. The list is rather short and the only non flagship contender to show up in this road-map is the Note 3 Neo, which has it’s fate undecided yet. The other surprising news is that the last year Galaxy S line flagship, Galaxy S4 is “Awaiting Approval” for Lollipop 5.0, while the confirmed ones include - Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3
At this moment the update is in testing phase and hence months away from the actual roll out to commence. Also the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat (final build of KitKat 4.4) is supposed to roll out prior to the Lollipop version. The other Samsung galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Note 2 seems to have been omitted from the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and will likely end their journey at 4.4.4 KitKat.

sometimes they add more to the list later on.
still, march 2015 for S4 seems pretty bad too..
I used to think it doesn't matter cause you can install AOSP / CM roms.
Have done that for 2 years now.
this month I switched back and realized it's been a mistake.
Stock firmware is generally more stable, but more importantly there are so many features that you just can't get working properly in AOSP/CM roms
- camera would always crash & become unusable until reboot
- no decent music/video player DLNA streaming
- slow boots
- other limitations due to missing samsung frameworks
i would never go back to AOSP/CM even if it means staying on old version of android
yes pity ...
But as far as i'm concerned ,i will HIGHLY prefer to have a REAL firmware KK 4.4.4 with a great baterry life and full stable ===> a phone very pleasant for usage !
And if ART is good now for near "all" apps ,it will be fantastic .
5.0 Lollipop will nothing to gain more "in the absolute"......just a new look "maybe" (not loved by every peoples ) ,andit would be completely useless because i really dont believe at all that Samsung want to develop a full new firmware with interrestings features for an "old" phone like our S4-mini ......it's useless to just change linux base only (exactly what we have seen when we have updated 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 )
And Samsung don't give a sh** !!! about mid range phones released in the middle of 2013 ..... they only think about S5-mini ,S5 ,last Notes ,Alpha ...etc ... for to suck the market with fierce competition with Apple ( and HTC ,LG ...etc...) ....and they are concerned with tablets too !
I really don't care about this...I think most of us here are waiting for CyanogenMod versions of Lollipop...cleaner, faster and updated more frequently than any other version of Android...

yes !
Cyanogenmod is really the best alternative for standard users who want a "light" system & battery friendly ...
But for our S4-mini ,there are bad chance that CM team don't develop a CM12 at all four our and we have to pray for to have an unoficial port ( i hope that i'm wrong ?! )

Because Samsung still hasn't learned that being beat over the head with a metal pipe repeatedly, still hurts really bad and can cause you to bleed out.
I think their policy is to update the old devices but not more than one or two versions behind the flagships. This way they can sort of say that they do the updates and still keep desirability of the new devices for their newest OS. It makes sense for them but I agree it sucks, preferably I would buy a phone from another company however nothing beats Dual SIM from S5 Mini.
Why this discussion continues ? It is confirmed that S5 mini will be updated to 5.1.1 , which is the latest version of Android for now . And is not behind the latest flagships of Samsung.
It is a luck for us , considering that the hardware is even weaker than S3(I9305) , which didn't get an update to Android 5.
I spoke with a live chat on Samsung.com about the J7 2015 having the nougat update and he confirmed that it is in development
"[System:22:48:17] A member of our web team will be available soon.
[System:22:48:20] Welcome to Samsung Australia Live Chat.
[Rom(Agent):22:49:02] G’day, Oggy. My name is Rom. Sorry, but the J7 does not have a Nougat update yet. Unfortunately, it is not yet compatible.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):22:49:25] oh so it will never have the update?
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:09:46]can you check if it's in development or something or i may have to root for nougat
[Rom(Agent):23:12:09] It is already on development.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:12:29] ohh then no need for root
[Rom(Agent):23:12:40] Yes, that is correct.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:12:49] when do you think is the expected release date for it?
[Rom(Agent):23:13:01] By the way, please do not root the device, because, it might void its warranty.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:13:08] oh ok
[Rom(Agent):23:13:43] There might be some possibilities, that it will be released on the next month after releasing the Note 8.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:14:17] for the 2015 version of the J7? (SM-J700H)
[Rom(Agent):23:16:00] As of now there are no exact updates, since they are currently focusing on the release of the Note 8.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:17:02] oh but it is in development correct? (for SM-J700H)
[Rom(Agent):23:17:16] Yes, that is correct.
[Cather Oggy(Customer):23:18:01] Ok thank you i will update people on XDA Forums that it is in development

Not sure when the nougat update will come out on J700T
Since there was just a system update to the j7 prime with july security patchs theres not going to be a update for atleast 2 to 3 months.. samsung isnt like google when it comes to software updates. Google releases software updates every month but samsung does it within the 3 month period or so... now the j7 2015 wont get the update next month theres gonna be quite a few of compatability issues due to the 1.5 gb ram on the j7 2015. This is the reason samsung has been making new j7s so they can come preinstalled with the newest software and features now you gotta look at this like the galaxy s series every year the newer version got the latest software and features while the version the year before got just one version update up to the next one.. 1.5 gb ram phones have always had software restrictions.

Only the variants SM-J700T and SM-J700T1 were certified that are variants that are sold in the United States and those factory telephones came with Android 6.0.1
