I can get into my APN settings with ##data#, I have my msl (CDMATOOL) I can edit but its totally different than the apn settings im used to. I know I could use shortcut master to edit them but that would require root, and I'm really trying to avoid the headache involved. I can access every hidden menu that I know of and edit settings with my MSL but can not find where a regular looking APN would be. Any help would be appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Why not just edit in Settings/networks/more/mobile networks/Access Point Names

because they are grayed out. I can see them just as in APN settings in the data menu, but in the access point names there's not even an option to edit or view.
Wow ive never seen that on any device. So you cant add your own APN from the menu? Then select that to be default.

nope can't even add your own apn. I can however locate everything via shortcut apps, but they require root to even run.

Hello jh787,
I know this is an old post, but I was just hoping that you still have these files available somewhere.
Unfortunately they are no longer available on the link you u provided. Can you please share them with me if possible?
Im trying to change the MMS size limit on my GS4. It is super compressing the pics down to 100-200kb when I know the carrier limit is much higher (somewhere around 1200-2000kb)
I read I need to find the MMS apk then decompile it and then edit the xml file in there.
Has anyone done this? I cannot even find the MMS apk in /system/apps

Do you use an adblocker of some form? If so try disabling it or revert it's changes. I use adfree, which modifies the host file, but I get a different error (host cannot be found). When I revert the changes it works fine. I was using tapatalk pro, but I've switched ot xda premium...now it works fine..
I uninstalled adblock plus and get this error now instead:

Did you reboot your phone? It may still be affecting it until you reboot. Some blockers require reboot after.

what about a different browser? or clearing the data from app manager and trying again? I get that exact issue with adfree from bigtincan, as soon as I revert the hosts file it works. I got rid of tapatalk and will never use it again as I only use it for xda now. my company community used to use it but since we switched to lithium community tapatalk doesn't work with it. xda premium uses a different redirector which isn't affected by this issue...
Yeah its a strange one. I've tried stock browser, chrome and dolphin but still can't open links on XDA using the official app. Tried uninstalling adblock and rebooting too.

it's weird how the xda free and xda premium apps have different redirectors. maybe because of this reason. at this point I would suspect some dns issue though. what if you use that same link on a computer or other device? Does it work? Or not? If your router/gateway is doing adblocking of some form then it probably is blocking it at that level...just a thought. I can also duplicate it with one of my routers when I use a host style ad blocking at the gateway.
I hate XDA premium app, I have actually bought it but prefer the free one. My laptop works fine with downloading links connected to the same wifi that my phone is connected to. I get the same error on my phone whether I'm on wifi or mobile network.
Well something you've installed is interfering with it either directly or by modifying the hosts. OR maybe your ROM has a non-default hosts file.

Feel free to compare in a text editor (gedit, notepad++, etc). If its stock it should look like that. Yours is found here: /system/etc/hosts

EDIT: oddly when you download that file from dropbox it appends .txt to the end. The file should simply be named "hosts". I'm on Ubuntu lol so there is absolutely no reason for it to do that... something with their site...

To make it easier, you could flash this one in recovery mode to revert to original hosts file: Reset Hosts File Download

heh, I didn't even think to look for a flashable hosts. Mine is fine, but that's an easier idea. I suspect it's non-default, triggering this issue. It's the onyl thing that makes sense especially on multiple WANs (WWAN + WLAN) AND different browsers.
I just ended up wiping my rom and installing a new one which seems to have solved it.
Cheers for your help though

Sorry about the title i was confused on what to put
So my tablet is rooted and i have modified some files on an app which you have to be rooted to modify. All i want to know is if it is possible to transfer the app onto my phone which is not rooted. i was thinking maybe there is a way to make the app back into an apk with the modified files buy im confused on how i would do that.
You won't be able to as you would need root permissions

I have an unrootd galaxy s5. I am not allowed to root. I recently had a software update come through. I am now no longer able to move apps to my sd card. When the update came through it renamed my sd card and my applications that had links to various folders had to be changed because the old name and path were no longer valid.
When I try the app manager there is no option to move to sd. It is not grayed out, instead it is no longer there. See attached screen shot.
When I try to use an app that is for moving apps to sd card, I get an error saying my device does not support this option.
I have greenify running to kill many system apps I do not use, could this be apart of the issue or is it something else?
nah thats not the option, marshmallow probably doesn't allow it

It is a company phone.
You just have to click on the storage in that apps settings then it should take you to more options for the app and you can change it there.
