Do you use an adblocker of some form? If so try disabling it or revert it's changes. I use adfree, which modifies the host file, but I get a different error (host cannot be found). When I revert the changes it works fine. I was using tapatalk pro, but I've switched ot xda premium...now it works fine..

I uninstalled adblock plus and get this error now instead:

Did you reboot your phone? It may still be affecting it until you reboot. Some blockers require reboot after.

what about a different browser? or clearing the data from app manager and trying again? I get that exact issue with adfree from bigtincan, as soon as I revert the hosts file it works. I got rid of tapatalk and will never use it again as I only use it for xda now. my company community used to use it but since we switched to lithium community tapatalk doesn't work with it. xda premium uses a different redirector which isn't affected by this issue...

Yeah its a strange one. I've tried stock browser, chrome and dolphin but still can't open links on XDA using the official app. Tried uninstalling adblock and rebooting too.

it's weird how the xda free and xda premium apps have different redirectors. maybe because of this reason. at this point I would suspect some dns issue though. what if you use that same link on a computer or other device? Does it work? Or not? If your router/gateway is doing adblocking of some form then it probably is blocking it at that level...just a thought. I can also duplicate it with one of my routers when I use a host style ad blocking at the gateway.

I hate XDA premium app, I have actually bought it but prefer the free one. My laptop works fine with downloading links connected to the same wifi that my phone is connected to. I get the same error on my phone whether I'm on wifi or mobile network.

Well something you've installed is interfering with it either directly or by modifying the hosts. OR maybe your ROM has a non-default hosts file.

Feel free to compare in a text editor (gedit, notepad++, etc). If its stock it should look like that. Yours is found here: /system/etc/hosts

EDIT: oddly when you download that file from dropbox it appends .txt to the end. The file should simply be named "hosts". I'm on Ubuntu lol so there is absolutely no reason for it to do that... something with their site...

heh, I didn't even think to look for a flashable hosts. Mine is fine, but that's an easier idea. I suspect it's non-default, triggering this issue. It's the onyl thing that makes sense especially on multiple WANs (WWAN + WLAN) AND different browsers.

I just ended up wiping my rom and installing a new one which seems to have solved it.
Cheers for your help though

Adobe Flash player

So as you guys know adobe discontinued adobe Flash player after ics... I used the same adobe Flash apk I used on my htc one S but when I try to install the apk on my gs4 it says application not installed
You don't need root do you? My htc one S is rooted can't remember if you need root for it to work
Google flash player archives, download latest for Android 4, tick unknown sources and install. Problem solved.

Doesn't make a difference on stock browser though as it doesn't support flash even with flash player installed

I already have a working adobe Flash player apk because I use the same one on my one S... It doesn't work on the gs4 though it fails to install. And as mentioned in first post I've turned on unknown sources.
I use boat browser for flash
The point is ,do not use flash version of one used on your old phone. Just download LATEST version and install it.

I don't have anything without being there. I used this by DL the entire root zip chain fire has prepared. I extracted the "guts" and then used PC Odin to Odin in root/supersu...then after reboot I DL ROM manager and used it to one click in CWM.
You could also Google QBKing77 and tag root s4 behind it and his video is on there its perfect

[SOLVED] White wifi and 4g/3g icons. No Google server connection.

So I can't connect to Google servers for some reason. I've cleared my cache and dalvik cache. I've deleted the hosts files. I don't know what else to do. I can't connect to the play store or my email. I really need some help
I've also checked online. People say I need to factory reset, but I'm only going to use that as a failsafe plan.
Edit: added a # sign in my hosts file. Fixed it

You do not post much info, I guess you have radio/baseband issue.
To self maintain these phones even w/ SS, I backUP regularly & before I make most changes. So I always have a BU.
But now I too have borked my radio & I could have backed up radio/nv data with qpst. Just rambling about backing up....
Do a safe boot, hold the vol dn key at the first logo.

What exactly do you need me to tell you? My bootloader is locked. I'm rooted on... 94. I haven made any changes besides with exposed modules and gravity box. Those were just visual tweaks.

4.4.4 update won't install

I've gotten the notification for the 4.4.4 OTA twice and when I tap to install, it reboots into TWRP and nothing else happens.
I've included a screenshot of the error it gives me. 4.4.3 installed flawlessly without a hiccup. I don't understand what is happening now.
BTW, phone is on stock, rooted and as you can see, I've got TWRP.
I think the /system verify check is failing due to modified contents. Flash stock 4.4.3 /system partition through fastboot and try to apply the ota again.

You're cloudprint2 apk is either a non-system app (missing?) or has been modified somehow
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Just did a search for the apk/app and I don't seem to have it on my system. My guess is I need to install the Cloud Print app from Play?
Yup, you can try that. If you still get errors, instead of hunting down every problem present, it would be a lot easier to return system to stock.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
Well, I've installed the Google Cloud Print app. Now I have to wait a few days to get the OTA update notification again and see if it goes through.
What is a bit puzzling is the fact that I had no issues updating to 4.4.3
You could just download the 4.4.4 ota zip from here and flash it through TWRP. Much faster and the same thing.

OK, I think I might have to go this route because after stubbornly getting the apk to change permissions and to move the file to the system>app folder, I ran the zip file and got yet another error... I really do not understand.
I have done nothing to my phone aside from adding an app or two since the 4.4.3 OTA....
Yup, much easier to flash the system image than to hunt down every error present.
