Whats that...grey spot? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello guys.
After flashing the UK BTU firmwire to my Phone to get Nougat asap since BTU was the first one that got it in Europe, i noticed a small grey line on the very upper corner, where the time is. It's like a shade, it doesn't look like dead pixel, its not black, its kinda transparent, like dirt, it wont hide completely all pixels on this place. This is only visible on light and bright colours:

}
I don't think it was there before the update, but, i might be mistaken. Any ideas whats that thing there? its kinda annoying, since its in the place of the time, it doesnt affect its visibility much, but, its annoying..

Is this on nougat or still on BTU?

Its the Android Nougat. BTU is the code name of the firmwire...
BTU is the unbranded stock UK firmwire

That's most likely a screen fault

Yes, i went to the Samsung Service, they said its a shadow / burn in. Covered by the warranty. Will replace the screen for free

I'm sure its not hardware problem because before the update it was not looking like this. And yes,the lens is clean. Tried cleaning it a lot of times but looks like its with the camera software.
Have you taken several shots to see if it's in the same place each time?
Sadly they're always on the same spot. I'm downloading my old firmware now (KE7) and hopefully it goes back to normal.
duuuude u have takin a picture to a ghost kiddin. try to chance the resolution of ur camera.
oh, btw, one question: they appear in the picture 2? or u can see it just on u`r sgs2 screen?
They appear on the picture too as you can see it in the picture i posted.
indeed, sorry, i`m a little bit tired. How is with the downgrade? something changed?
Just checked mine on kf3 and no spots, look at the glass protecting your camera and look for small scratches or marks? It could be that sadly?

Weird lines on screen

Well, it started yesterday and it keeps driving me nuts. It's present both in the system as well as 4ext or even the splash screen so it is definitely a hardware issue. Is there any way to get rid of them because my contract ends in november but I was going to stay with my DHD and get myself a PS3 (very nice offer from my carrier)
It looks like that, it's not a screenshot but it looks exactly like that:

what seems to be an officer problem?
the faint horizontal lines on the screen. That is only a picture but live they also flicker.
You could try replacing the screen yourself, but it could happen that the gpu is the problem, in which case you can't do anything on your own...

I remember having the same issue right after I bought my DHD and I remember rooting and reflashing it helped I recently changed my Radio software, you think it might have anything to do?
It's not hardware. I get it on the current versions of the 3 kernel. Synergy said it was to do with fb (not sure what it is) and he's working on it.

FB....hmmm....frame buffer (only thing that comes to mind except FaceBook) Anyway you're a life saviour man! I was worried that I will have to get a new phone.

Rogers S5 Lollipop lock screen block text

I updated to 5.0 a while back when Rogers rereleased it, and every once in a while the numbers/letters on the lockscreen keypad will turn to white blocks. The lock screen is the only place that this happens.
Anyone know what's wrong/how to fix it besides rebooting the phone?

Bump!
Anyone has a better solution than reboot?
It is appearing on T-Mobile I-9505, I-9515 and G-900F.
Do you use SwiftKey? My girlfriends Canadian GS5 is doing this as well, when I searched the internet I found a reference with regards to SwiftKey not playing 100% nice with Lollipop and causing this blockyness on the lock screen. So far there has been no fix other than reboot... She's been a couple of months now with this annoyance, but luckily it doesn't seem to affect the usability, you just have to know which numbers are which Side note: I have a Nexus 5 and use Swiftkey but don't have this problem.
This is apparently just a general lollipop issue, not really tied to anything just a glitch in android, i dont know a fix just thought id throw that out there.

What the Green is going on?

So my wife updated her Edge on Friday and the battery was draining like crazy. She complained about it being too hot as well. Sure enough I plugged it in and rested it on top of a cold drink. Didn't want my house to burn down so we charged it in the morning instead. Funny thing is, my Edge didn't charge last night even though it was sitting on the official Galaxy S7 wireless charger.
What's worse is the Green Line burned in and now has a faded spot where the line sometimes disappears.

I had that happen to me on my s6 after dropping it. The screen didnt crack or break so Tmobile covered it
Yea take it in, but they will prob want samsung to take care of it
T-mobile warranty doesn't normally involve Samsung.
Yup. T-Mobile is great about warranty exchanges. They've always just sent me a replacement phone with a return label for the broken phone.

Photochrom + 10.5.10/11 question

I just purchased a new OnePlus 8 Pro and immediately did an OTA system update to 10.5.10 on a 2025 (Global) model and noticed people complaining that the IR sensor was gimped to a hybrid photochrom filter. I noticed mine is still working (did IR sensor finger test) and the X-ray effect is still working. I don't understand this as it blows in the face of everything I've been reading. Does that also mean it will continue working for me once 10.5.11 becomes available to me, and/or is this some sort of bug that allowed me to keep the original photochrom?

No if you take the new update to 10.5.11 it will gimp your color filter. 10.5.10 it hasn't been messed with on that build.

EU models are one behind everyone else so whist you guys were on .10 we were still on .9. The latest firmware updates are .10 for EU, .11 for everywhere else, this update adjusts the photchrom filter.
Thank you both for the clarification. I will just hang out on this build then. :good:
Is there a way to get the original software back? If not are there any hackers working on a way around to get it back?
