Getting the same thing on my end.

In TWRP, format data then it will write to data partition.
Do factory reset to reset data partition password.
If u r already on nougat, just dload and reboot

I tried to dload from nougat but it fails instantly. Also, when i tried installing this from twrp i formatted everything but sd before trying to install it

I just keep getting the same error flashing both update files, actually the installation of the full hw zip last like a minute but the update's installation just stops immediately after that error

Then you may have to try via PC hisuite
Or
Go back to 4.1 and flash fresh

What about NFC? it is added to settings or has this version the same bug as other 560 versions?

im flashing with twrp from 4.1 everytime actually, also hisuite when i have old b560 says me that im on latest firmware

Got error 7 when trying to flash these two zips. Tried everything from installing from an OTG cable to internal storage, error 7 all the way.

All, maybe I am missing something....I am on Nougat already but would like to reflash 560 via TWRP due to the fact that dload isn't working (update aborted after 5%). Unfortunately even with a ok. after flashing recovery I am still on stock recovery....Please advice!

after i format data, wiped everything but microsd it still gives error, also i need to add that before the error it says
"mountencrypt: failed to mount /data: no such file or directory" maybe we need to change data filesystem? or what? i really dont understand why both files wont flash, i flashed b521 and first b560 without problems of any kind

Same error 7 :SS

Then go back to 4.1 and relax for the next update

All, I need your help and advice....
I massed up my phone....I flashed TWRP but never been able to enter Recovery as "fastboot erase chache" did not work and ended up in a bootloop while trying to access Recovery...after several additional -stupied- tries I distroied my OS (5B60), menas I lost my key-board etc....
I still can connect via fastboot and/or adp but cannot clear cache. Therefore I am not able to enter TWRP and flash any softwrae. Dload doesn't work either as I donot have a stock recovery...
Please guide me back to a working phone
Thx a lot!!!

Huawei P8 Lite (ALE-L21) Unsuccesfully rooted, unbricked and now into a boot loop

Hi,
I'm all new to rooting and I got a major issue.
Here's the story.
Wanting that substratum themes, I looked up for rooting my devices
I followed this guide to unlock the bootloader, and all was fine.
Next, I followed this one for rooting, but at the "installing nexus drivers" step, my PC wasn't showing off any driver setup or something related to a driver.
I pressed Enter, despite the fact that I didn't know if I had nexus drivers properly installed, and my phone didn't want to boot up. Stuck on the boot animation, for more than 20 hours.
Next day, I came back and found this mega thread about unbricking. I followed it, and now I'm in a boot loop: my phone reboot 1-2 secs after showing the home screen, but I can still enter in fast boot mode. My phone is still unlocked and when I enter Huawei's eRecovery (by long-pressing up volume button) to try to "Download new version and recovery" it connects to my Wi-Fi, then fails.
Thanks for your patience,
Mx3_
Do I understand correctly? Do you wont root your phone ?
1 st. With method which presented, you can only root your device if you have Android 5 or lower, if you have android 6 Marshalow - you must use " Systemless ROOT"
2nd. You must upload new ROM on your device ( i have special tool for do this "srktoolHuawei" - this is a special tool for flashing every new rom on a huawei device )
3.rd." HuaweiUpdateExtractor" - this is a tool for extract new ROM ( roms for huawei, you can find in huawei webside ) - download rom for your device, extract by this tool, copy and paste inside folder of "srktoolHuawei"
Next...
Plug you device to PC by usb, go to recovery mode and if you have unblocked bootloader, should be writen:" Phone is unlocked" - > Open "srktoolHuawei", go to Command Prop and then:
- IMPORTANT !!! - you must upload files: SYSTEM, RECOVERY, CUST, BOOT - you can do this using that commands:
1. fastboot flash system system.img
2.fastboot flash boot boot.img
3.fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4.fastboot flash cust cust.img
Reboot and system should starts correctly...
---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:39 PM ----------
If you wont to root your device with SYSTEMLESSROOT method, you should do like that:
1. If you upload recovery by "srktoolHuawei" - > download TWRP recovery and upload into your device ( copy and paste TWRP img. file into this tool folder insted of traditional android recovery file, next change name from TWRP, to just recovery.img and upload using command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img )
2. Now - if you press volume + - and power together, you should have TWRP Recovery insted of Huawei Recovery, thats good...
3. Next...BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3 - upload this version of supersu into your SD card...
4. Next - go to TWRP mod, next to advanced, next to Terminal Command and write command like this:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
Confirm this command and back to install ( this command means that you will install SuperSU and it will make systemless root for you )
When if you have install, then select supersu which you downloaded before and now simply flash it by TWRP, next reboot and you should installed supersu and rooted device...
I successfully rooted, thanks ! but now i installed a substratum theme (pixel ui), uninstalled some huawei apps and rebooted to apply effects, and i'm stuck again in a bootloop ! tried wipe cache with TWRP, but didn't work :/

Please tell me you made a back up in TWRP if you did just use the RESTORE option in TWRP if not you will have to go through the above again to get back to stock but missing out flashing the recovery partition as yours is working.
When your phone boots make a back up in TWRP before trying out anything so its easy to recover

Hello @BaronDeLucifer,
what do you mean with this? Do I need the srktool for rooting my P8 Lite?
With best regards

Bricked my P10 lite and nothing seems to work

A while ago I installed TWRP and rooted my WAS-LX1A and everything worked perfectly fine except that I couldn't install updates. Today I tried to install install a more recent rom and, as expected, it failed. So i tried to install it manually, unpacking boot.img, system.img and recovery.img from the update.app file and flashing them using
Code:
fastboot flash *type* *file*.img
I was able to flash boot and recoverybut when I tried to do the same on system it got stuck and I was forced to interrupt the process. Now my device is constantly stuck on
Code:
Your device is booting now...
and I can't access recovery nor fastboot and adb isn't working:
Code:
error: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.
I tried using the dload folder method in a FAT32 formatted sd card and every sort of button combination but i'm still stuck at the same point. Anyone can help me?
luis ota doesnt works due to root a custom recovery, i recommend you access to twrp, next:
1- Make a backup only of oeminfo(coy to safe place), download oeminfo ss or ds depending your device, extract and copy/replace oem to the original oem
2- Downloaded servicerom b182 or b183, extract and copy all file and folder(was-lx1a folders and update.app), to dload folder on your sdcard.
3- Now press restore oem and shutdown when it finished, now do 3btns method.
Alternatevility could uninstall adb and reinstall, check if device manager has traces of device or adb and remove too

Didn't work and now the phone is locked and I've lost my unlock code. TWRP also isn't working, as holding pwr+volumeup starts erecovery while the booting screen changed from "Your device has been unlocked" to "Your device has failed verification". Any tips?
mister if you frp(oem is unlocked(red color)) you can solve with dload method and servicerom b182 or b183, other method is dcphoenix(paid)

oeminfo: backup insdcad(copy to safe place), with the downloaded oeminfo just copy/replace and then restore.
srom: create one folder called dload in sdcard, then extracted the service copy all was folders + update.app(they are inside of dload folder) to the dload sdcard
alternatively you try with dcphoenix and/or dcunlocker(paid both)

Keep holding volume up until phone reboot to erecovery
Disconnect from PC, Shutdown phone
Hold volume up and power to enter TWRP
Wipe>format data
Go back Reboot>Recovery
Download Full Data zip http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...WAS-L01A_hw_eu/update_full_WAS-L01A_hw_eu.zip

Copy both zip files to sd card and install one by one in TWRP
reboot>bootloader
Extract boot, system, recovery, from update.zip it using Huawei firmware extractor
Extract cust.img from update_full_WAS-L01A_hw_eu.zip
Flash these images in fastboot mode.
Then reboot to recovery and factory reset, the phone boots normally

DECRYPTION AND BACKUP.
NOTICE
IF YOU YOU ARE USING THE 32GB MODEL OR THE 16GB MODEL AND ARE ON ANDROID 9 (PIE) PLEASE USE THE ANDROID 9 (PIE) MODEL TWRP. USERS WITH THE 16GB MODEL AND THE 32GB MODEL ON ANDROID 8 (OREO) WILL STILL NEED TO USE SEPERATE TWRPS
MAKE SURE TO SWIPE RIGHT IN TWRP TO ALLOW SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS.
Step 1.) Download and extract twrp image to the ADB/Fastboot folder on your computer.
FOR ANDROID 8 (OREO)
16gb model twrp: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117921836
32gb model twrp: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117927211
FOR ANDROID 9 (PIE)
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=6006931924117921849
Step 2.) Reboot to your bootloader. You can do this by turning on your device and holding the power button and volume down button at the same time.
Step 3.) Once the device reboots to the bootloader type the following from your computer with your phone connected via USB.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Step 4.) Once TWRP boots from your computer type (it may take a bit to boot because it is trying to decrypt your userdata, but it will fail and prompt for a password. Just click cancel)
Step 5.) time to backup your stock recovery and stock boot. use these commands one at a time.
Code:
adb pull /dev/block/platform/soc/7824900.sdhci/by-name/boot stockboot.img
adb pull /dev/block/platform/soc/7824900.sdhci/by-name/recovery stockrecovery.img
This will backup your stock boot and recovery images if you need to revert to stock later.
Step 6.) time to decrypt which will also format your data so make sure to make a backup. while still booted in twrp touch the "wipe" button then touch "format data", type yes and after its all done reboot to bootloader use this command.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
CONGRATS! if you read this correctly and or didnt skim then you have successfully decrypted your device and backed up your stock recovery and stock boot.img. proceed below for root process.
ROOT PROCESS.
Step 1.) Run the following command from your computer to install the TWRP image to your device.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Step 2.) Use the volume keys on the device to select boot to recovery and TWRP will boot up again. swipe right to allow modifications. IT SHOULD NOT ASK YOU FOR A PASSWORD THIS TIME IF IT DOES YOU MESSED UP DURING THE DECRYPT PROCESS
Step 3.) Follow this link to the creators site to download the disabler zip. https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfe download it to your ADB/Fastboot folder.
Step 4.) Download the Magisk Beta v20.0 and or the latest zip file from https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases to your ADB/Fastboot folder. (I personally use beta so I use beta in this guide but you don't have to)
Step 5.) Run the following command to push the dm_verity force encrypt disabler and magisk zip to your device
Code:
adb push Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_11.02.2020.zip /tmp
adb push Magisk-v20.0.zip /tmp
This will push the Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_11.02.2020.zip and Magisk-v20.0.zip to your /tmp folder
Step 6.) Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_11.02.2020.zip from TWRP using the install option and navigate to the /tmp folder to select it and install it.
Step 7.) Flash Magisk-v20.0.zip from TWRP using the install option and navigate to the /tmp folder to select it and install it.
Step 8.) Reboot your device
Step 9.) Just wait for the device to boot up. might take a bit and it might seem its in a bootloop but if you followed this guide exactly as is just wait it out it took about 5-10 minutes before i got to the "lets get started" screen after updating to pie (android 9)
Step 10.) Verify Magisk Manager is installed and the root functionality works. sometimes the manager apk wont be installed so download the magisk manager apk from the provide links. click advanced to see if the boxes are unchecked. (2022 edit) If you see magisk app and magisk needs updated you can do it but I can't confirm if it's safe and what works and doesnt after
CONGRATS! IF YOU DIDNT SKIM MY GUIDE YOU SHOULD HAVE A SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED AND ENCRYPTION DISABLED DEVICE, HAVE FUN.
IF YOU MESSED UP, DIDNT PUT A COMMAND IN CORRECTLY, SKIMMED, OR ARE INA GENUINE BOOTLOOP/BRICK THIS SECTION IS FOR YOU
Step 1.) DOWNLOAD STOCK FIRMWARE HERE FOR JETER AND CERTAIN ALJETER DEVICES (from what i can tell usa variant aljeter devices are consided jeter) https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/jeter/official/ IF YOU REMEMBER OR WROTE DOWN YOUR SW CHANNEL VERSION THEN DOWNLOAD STOCK FIRMWARE FOR BASICALLY EVERY OTHER ALJETER DEVICE HERE. https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/aljeter/official/ UNZIP STOCK FIRMWARE TO YOUR ADB/FASTBOOT FOLDER TO FLASH IT. TO REVERT BACK TO STOCK YOU HAVE TO REFLASH STOCK FIRMWARE FROM THE BOOTLOADER if your device is bootlooped or bricked or not working right you have to reflash the stock firmware your device came with. PLEASE INPUT THESE COMMANDS ONE AT A TIME DO NOT DO THEM ALL AT ONCE. I KNOW ITS A HASSLE BUT IT GUARANTEES A SUCCESSFUL REFLASH. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH

QUICK NOTE/EDIT: SINCE I DO NOT OWN THIS DEVICE ANYMORE I CANNOT CONFIRM IT BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO UPDATE TO THE LATEST MAGISK 24.3 FROM THE MAGISK APP AFTER YOU INSTALL V20, AGAIN I AM NOT ABLE CONFIRM IF IT WORKS, CAUSES BOOTLOOPS, OR ANYTHING SO KEEP THAT IN MIND, but hopefully it does work for yall I've also updated the ADB commands for the disabler to reflect its latest version and I've updated the magisk link to topjohnwus GitHub as that's where all updates happen/ go first

I have the same issue. I used the recovery steps to go back to stock but every time i re-attempt to root/install twrp the bootloop comes back:
Also, it's failing to mount /data after Resurrection Remix wouldn't boot and it keeps giving me the unable to mount /data (invalid argument) problem. I need help badly. Can you help? Is it the TWRP's fault?

Are you encrypted? Because twrp will do that if you are. You have to use the wipe > format > type "yes" to continue method to remove encryption. Then reboot from twrp, directly back into twrp. Then it can mount /data properly, at which point you need to flash the encryption disabler. If you don't disable encryption you'll keep running into the same problem. You only have to do that once. After that you can use the regular wipe option. If you ever flash the stock vendor.img you'll need to do it again.
Also, please make sure twrp has been flashed to recovery. I don't think it'll work if you just boot through fastboot. If you followed all these instructions and magisk still refuses to install, or gives you a bootloop, then it's a ROM problem and not TWRP. Should that happen, let me know and I'll flash Resurrection remix and see if I can figure out what's going on. I've had ROMs refuse to be rooted before. Descendant ROM had this problem on some older builds.

as for me: I followed the instructions which tell us to only boot twrp during the data format and only then actually flash twrp.
but my problem is no magisk, as I always root my phone whenever i revert back to stock. it's just that decryption is not working on my xt1922-5

Do it like this.
1. fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
2. Use the volume keys while still in fastboot to select "recovery" then hit the power button.
3. Hit cancel at the decryption screen when twrp boots up.
4. In TWRP select wipe > format > type "yes" to continue. Do not reboot the phone yet.
5. In twrp select reboot > recovery.
6. Once twrp boots up again, select mount and check the boxes for /data, /system, /vendor, /cache.
7. Now flash the universal encryption disabler.
8. Let it boot once, then go back into recovery and flash Magisk.
This should solve your problem.

My issue is as follows:
I had rooted my g6play months ago, back when pie came out on Ota for it. The guide I followed didn't have me disable encryption, which at the time wasn't a real big deal, with my only loss being the inability to do nandroid backups. But fast forward to now, when Resurrection Remix GSI came out, I was immediately interested as I think that rom could be a great experience.
So I decided to come here in this guide because I might as well disable encryption, right? So I flashed the new twrp and did get it to wipe and disable the encryption (in the option that has you type in yes) and proceeded to flash RR, it booted to the boot anima9and there it stayed for a good 30 minutes before I decided to try the older GSI image, maybe that one would work.
But nope, I immediately got the unable to mount /data bootloop and successfully flashed my stock rom and tried again, this time flashing the new twrp right off the bat. No avail. Now everytime i go into a freshly flashed twrp, i get no password prompt, and when i try to access the internal storage, it comes up as 0mb. Even my Linux complains that it couldn't mount my Internal storage as only the SD card shows up (weirdly enough I was able to successfully push dm verity and magisk to /temp no problem but they fail upon flashing)
Edit: gotta mention that after the first time I did the pull adb command to get the backups, the command refuses to work anymore. And also that I still have an old twrp backup stored (did that today before trying this)

Go into the wipe menu, advanced wipe, check data and hit change file system. change data back to f2fs. When you guys format and don't immediately reboot straight to recovery, data sets to Auto and freaks out

the multiple times i checked, the file system was always f2fs, but sometimes ext4
and also: Do you mean we should do that after we try to format with the format data (typing yes) option? If so, it doesn't work as the internal storage won't mount. Won't even show up on my computer

If you change the file system, it'll format, even if it says it won't mount. Changing the file system will force it to format. Even if it says f2fs, hit change and select f2fs anyway.

Alright, let me work through this.
I'm currently on a stock firmware and it's working fine.
Right now i have to:
1. boot into recovery twrp
2. change the filesystem of data
3. flash recovery and boot into it
4. format data(yes option)
5.check and change the file system again
6.reboot straight back into twrp recovery from recovery
7.flash dm verity zip
8.flash magisk
9.boot
Is this correct? and as for attempting to install a GSI image again, should i attempt to flash it before the verity zip and magisk? (i'll also be flashing micro gapps) or do i let it boot into system once and then i do it? (by wiping data/dalvik/cache/system)

Let's simplify. If everything is working,
go to fastboot
Flash recovery (boot doesn't seem to be working here)
Fastboot flash recovery twrp image
Select recovery, when the decrypt menu comes up, hit cancel
Wipe menu,
Swipe to factory reset
Go back to wipe
format data, yes,
Reboot recovery
Flash disabler
Flash magisk
And yes. Boot system then GSI flash, then factory reset before magisk
---------- Post added at 01:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 PM ----------
We'll get it figured out

Data is set to emmc file system, won't mount and filesystem won't change at all and won't format
Edit: only happens when i try to change it to f2fs, changed it to ext4 with no issues and it mounts sucessfully with ext4 but won't let me format data
I get the mkfs.f2fs -t 0 /dev/block/mmcblk0p56 error 1, unable to mount data whenever i try to change to f2fs. Has my previous failed attempt at installing GSI **** with my filesys?

UNBRICK TOOL for 5S - Courtesy of @johnny886
Use this tool, with directions on the thread to restore your device to USA/Asia 8.07
you can then install TWRP and after flash any region rom after creating a somewhat universal unbrick tool for those in different regions.
Follow directions on the thread. but here is a link to the Thread. A Mirror for the tool is in my Personal Mirror at the bottom of this thread post.

TWRP and root guide for 5S and 5G on Android 10 only - (these steps will NOT unlock your bootloader) - these steps use a bypass method to install a recovery without unlocking bootloader. the command below is to allow flashing of partitions. bootloader status is still locked during and after process is complete.
Note. if you already have ADB and fastboot drivers installed, this folder will work as is. if not I put an installer in the folder too to install a mini adb fastboot setup. which needs windows driver signing turned off (windows 8-10) this can be done by going to advanced startup and choosing to boot without driver signing.
1. Download zip file found at the end of this post
2. Extract to root of C: drive
3. open CMD prompt with admin privileges
4. CD to the ADB folder you extracted. (CD = Change Directory)
5. Connect your device in Fastboot mode (power off. hold volume down +Power until it vibrates. then release power but continue to hold volume down)
6. Once in fastboot mode, with cable connected to the computer run these commands
7. fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J (this allows you to flash the device partitions)
8. fastboot flash recovery TWRP-xxx.img (xxx being the version number of the TWRP image you choose to install)
9. fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta_skip.img
10. reboot to recovery (from the fastboot menu) it should load TWRP
11. if TWRP does not ask you to keep recovery from being over written, go to advanced and choose disable replace TWRP. to keep TWRP as your recovery, and stop the system from re writing the stock recovery.
12. Reboot to system for the first time and complete the initial setup. this is to create the user space partitions data/media ( preferably do not make a pin or pattern at this stage)
13. once in the rom, connect to PC and copy over the Magisk zip to the internal memory. then reboot holding Volume up
14. once back into TWRP (if you created a pin during setup TWRP will ask you for your pin to access data) go into install and flash the Magisk.zip you moved in step 13 then reboot. once back into the rom, you will see a Magisk app, tap it and allow to update, the APK will install latest version of the manager.
More NOTES.
this must be done on a clean system. you need to wipe all data partitions to boot to system. re writing VBMETA causes encryption to break. until you reboot. so you lose everything Make a backup of your data partition on to your PC before doing anything.
its also recommended to have an update.zip of your current rom (which you can download from the post above), incase you need to reinstall the rom after flashing the new recovery or VBmeta.
OEM unlocking in the developer options is NOT needed. since you are not unlocking your bootloader. this step can be ignored.
I'll update this tutorial with newer steps if needed.
Thanks to those that created all these great tools.

I'm working on a process that will update to Android 11, through TWRP and root, without losing data. Much like a stock update.
I will update the thread once my tests are complete.
Hello. I can not flash (i cant even copy) the zip via TWRP. I see the storage device on my windows laptop. I have wipe data cache and dalvik, but it does not copy it and i can not restore my device. Help will be appreciated

Try putting update zip on a USB key and connect via OTG and flash this way. Moving files with TWRP for some reason corrupts or does not complete transfer.
Make sure to factory reset. If you're coming from a used update, backup your data partition and wipe everything. Then check to see if the partition is in fact empty. ( I noticed sometime my data partition did not erase)

Working fine after full data partition wipe.
I have an additioal question regarding further updates, and i would not want to open a new topic. so, after flashing the zip, i "lost" TWRP but i already have root access. I wonder if is possible to flash upcoming updates with the default recovery built in on the phone, if not, i would assume i need to install TWRP again.in any case, will side loading update make any problem with the current system? i hope my question and context is clear
As these are official ROMs, they will replace the recovery and remove root from the phone.
If you do not have root, flashing these zips from the system menu local update should work. But if you have root or TWRP it's better to flash through TWRP.
You could just flash TWRP again after flash, but I personally modify the zip and add the recovery to it to save me going into fastboot after each update.
Is it possible to install the US rom on a device with EU rom?
in the EU version I can't set the frame rate to 144 hz.

I've spoken with another EU rom user, that has the same issue before. it seems it was an error in the stock rom.
reinstalling 7.07 from the links above should fix your problem.
both 7.07 (the EU rom) and 8.07 (the US rom) are exactly the same. the only difference is the languages from what I can tell.
I have a silly question. Unfortunately i unlocked bootloader and i lost the fingerprint capability. I have tried many times to do the calibration without success. I wonder if a factory flash (EDM or any nubia tool) can restore the capability and then use this guide to do the rooting? Thanks

No it wont.
There is a specific step by step that is required to get it functioning again. And it only survives until your next full wipe, which i assume you will do more often flashing non official roms.
I can grab the steps and edit this post for you.
Edit -
Prep.
have a black / very dark brown leather. (belt, wallet, etc)
a soft gel plaster / Bandaid
(something skin textured and in a pink / light beige colour) texture and colour are important.
First step is clear data in the infingerprint app in app info and remove permissionfor data memory - (you need to show system apps to find it)
- digit in call phone code:
*#9959#
(android 11 use Activity launcher (playstore) to enter fingerprint menu)
- uncheck performance checkbox , check only calibration checkbox
Steps -
1. Press start then wait.
2.Press next and with plaster / bandaid press on circle
3.Press next and use wallet / belt ( the display becomes black for black calibration)
4.Press next and use gel plaster / bandaid again but pinch it in so only the part with your finger touches the circle.
If you are lucky see success alert in green color
In system app in setting In-Display-Fingerprint allow access to data memory then reboot device.
Enjoy your Finger Print once more!
P.S. = do this procedure in a very dark room to improve the chances of it succeeding.
Thanks to qtr1st (Salem) and mikekrunk (Mike) for the steps and information.

Pretty short step by step to get twrp and Magisk if you want, on your phone. (Red Magic 5S)

reboot to bootloader by... power off device -> press and hold volume down and power button until you see the logo -> connect device to your computer then do the steps 7 to 12

if you have not removed your pin before flashing any of the roms. it asks you for YOUR own pin that you made when you setup the phone. so use your own pin.
the process of rooting your device, clears a security partition. (the VBmeta partiton)
this deletes the encryption you had on your phone. so the devices partitions are unaccessable and need to be wiped before you can boot to system.
you need to clear data. all data. then check in TWRP file browser if your data partition is clear. .. if you see folders with random letters its not been formatted correctly.
so, in the wipe menu on TWRP you should go into advanced and change the partition type to ext4 then back to f2fs to clear the partition of data.
once your phone is clear you should be able to wipe cache and davik then reboot to system for it to start like a factory reset.
