I'm planning on upgrading my phone over the weekend. With this in mind, does N have any battery improvements over stock Android M from the March release? I've been happy with battery life up until now, so want to know if ill be in for a shock... good or bad.

Hey!
Got my 6p yesterday, finally after my old nexus 5 didnt want to take my abuse no more.
My question : which stock image is best for battery life? I've looked around, but have not been able to find an article. Hoping you guys have tested and can let me know. For the time being I'm sticking to MM as I dont want to struggle with issues on my new phone, I just want it to be the best phone it can be
Hoping for a good answer!

I've installed it now to test, but fearing all the negative battery comments i've seen. But we'll see. If anyone has any input about the best MM rom for battery life, plz tell me.
Still wondering which MM image is best. I see the title is missleading.
Suck it and see. I've had hugely better battery life with 7.0, others haven't.
I am planning to have my batteries replaced because of the abysmal battery life I am getting and I am afraid that it's not even the software since I had it before Nougat. It has just degraded. So, the question is, what Android version should I put when the battery is replaced? Should I flash back to MM or stay with N? I'm currently using RR with f2fs.
Hi... Flash the ROM of your choice and move on... Isn't that the freedom a nexus offers?
There is plenty of evidence battery degradation issues are independent of the Android version. Just as many ppl with issues on MM who never upgraded to N. Run with the ROM of your choice.
should I downgrade to official 7.0 or stay on beta till 8.0 is released?
I tried beta but wasnt impressed with some of the bugs and battery life, I went back to 7.0 where everything just works and battery is way better, will wait for official beta ROMs,which won't be far away with the official Oreo release sometime this month...I always jumped to early on my other phones, no need to rush though, I just dont think its worth it, am using the extreme debloat ROM from foobar66 and its insane, I get 3 days plus between charges and at least 6 hours SoT I got half this or less on O Beta.

Yes battery life is very poor less than 4 hours SOT with the final beta. And some occasional crashes. Was thinking if going back to official is a better idea. Or wait with beta and receive the official Oreo release one day early. It's ok but not sure how long I might have to live with this battery life:crying:

I had the same dilemma. But couldn't cope with the battery life... Awful...
I have never updated my phone since i first got it. Most of my previous android phones have had battery issues once i updated them. I was curious how anyone with the same phones battery life compares with the latest update? I have the exynos model.
You should update mate
Battery Life, Performance everything is stellar on oreo/nougat
Get 7/8 hrs battery life out off my own handheld
Pretty strong benchmark as well
The other drawback with marshmallow is they've stopped development on it so feature amd efficiency-wise you're also limited

The biggest reason stopping me is battery life, ive seen lots of posts online complaining after the update!

Sorry about the late reply mate
XDA never notifies me of this **** ?
If you're having issues with battery try installing the Notorious or Superstock Kernels, those are the most efficient at battery saving. You won't be disappointed I promise You!
For now I am on ABC ROM oreo with Franco kernel, and having ok battery life getting probably around 12-16% drain per hour of use on screen time (fk kernel manager battery monitor) However I want to have best possible battery life.
Don't really care if missing some features, or security wise if that's so important.
Would downgrading from Oreo to instead Nougat, or Marshmallow be smart battery wise?
If I go to Nougat I will fix purenexus rom of course, but unsure if going from 8.1.0 (Oreo) to a lower android version would help getting the battery even better?
Ive been trying to go down that road myself. currently trying CHROMA, (MM) been going pretty well... Sots been better than oreo, but its deepsleep hasnt so ive been trying to fix that.
