I'm on Phoenix rom on 6.0. 1 and I'm sick of the weird path name it gives the external SD card. It messes with link2sd and my Manga Reader. I was wondering if I can simply flash a kit Kat rom on miui without ruining anything...
no
So I'll have to go back to stock first via Odin?

you cant do that either. Once you progress past 5.0, youre stuck
I directly downgraded to 4.4 with my G900W8. However, you need to be careful with which version you are going to flash. For example, when I flashed any other 4.4 firmware than NCG (Which is the first version of 4.4 released for G900W8), I faced bootloop.

there is a physical fuse that gets tripped in the S5 once you go past 5.0 that is there to no allow you to go back. Not sure if you were on a 4.4 bootloader that allowed you to do this or what, but trying to flash back to 4.4 after being on a 5.0 baseband is very ill advised
I don't think you can down grade to kit kat, but you can go from marshmallow to lollipop. I just did it last weekend. Check this...https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
I hope it helps you.
Actually i can downgrade anytime from MM to LP or LP to KK

then you dont have a MM bootloader. I just re-read some posts that confirm that the phone locks to 5.0 once you get that bootloader. Its not possible to go back, and it doesnt matter if you have the G900F or not

Then if there is a physical fuse, why was I able to downgrade from MM to KK? One difference when I downgraded from MM to KK NCG was that "Powered by Android" logo was changed to old style. I think NCG build of KitKat changed bootloader from MM one to KK one. Baseband wise, I also flashed KK baseband and it worked very well. It might be different on G900F but with my G900W8 I could go back to KK.

not sure, but ive had my G900P for 2 years 10 months and have been constantly on XDA since my OG evo back in the day (the one with the kickstand) and everything ive ever read saya that once you go past 5.0, you cant go back. Not sure what you have going on there, but there are tons of posts going back several years stating exactly this
Of course you can downgrade to kk.
Just download the kk firmwafe. Pull out battery for 5 sec. Then flash trough odin. Did it mant times and no problem with that.
i did that on my galaxy s5 and it works

Hi Guys, I am fairly new to flashing and rooting. Have successfully done on my Galaxy S5 and now trying on my Note 3 - N9005. I tried flashing a latest 4.4 rom - Echoe rom and it got stuck in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Logo. Now i have flashed stock rom (Australian Vodafone) running 4.3. My question is since i am trying to flash a 4.4.2 rom, do i need to do anything specific or just flash TWRP and install a custom rom? i noticed there were 2 versions of TWRP one ofr 4.3 and one for 4.4. I am confused as to since i am on 4.3 version do I flash TWRP 4.3 version? or since i am looking to flash 4.4 rom should i install TWRP 4.4 at first place?

you need 4.4 twrp. It should be 2.7.1 I think. you also need to me sure the Rom is compatible with your phone.

During my first try, i had TWRP for 4.3, which allowed me to flash Echoe Rom based on 4.4 (latest version) for N9005, it even showed me success notification but it never booted past Samsung logo. I then flashed TWRP 4.4 version, but it then wouldn't boot in recovery. i reflashed TWRP 4.3 version and as last resort i had to flash stock firmware.
I will now flash TWRP 4.4 version at first instance and try flashing a rom again. maybe will try a different rom. Thanks for your suggestion :good:

hello there.
u were sayin u r on 4.3 JB rom.
ur device is N9005 international 32gb right?
let me tell u 1 thing which is a good thing to remember.
4.4 rom will need a 4.4 bootloader.
since u r on 4.3, u must be on 4.3 bootloader which is incompatible with 4.4 rom. flashing twrp for kitkat won't help.
steps that u need to take (easiest) :
1. download 4.4.2 stock firmware.
2. flash with odin v3.09
3. root with cf autoroot (download the KK version)
3. flash custom recovery for KK version (twrp/cwm/ philz). I personally prefer cwm as it has give me less trouble for any custom rom.
4. u can flash any 4.4.2 custom rom now.

THANK YOU!!! This makes lot of sense.:good: I will upgrade to KK first, then custom recovery and then rom. One question? 4.4 is not yet available for my carrier in Australia. can I download and install the Poland version that is floating around internet. Or would you recommend some other.

Hello,
Yes it is possible to downgrade from an official Molitor to an official kitkat (the latest).
I do it, when the flash is end and the mobile show the logo Samsung
You can put out the battery, reboot to the recovery and wipe all user data.
Before do that save all your data.
It's an official administrator from Samsung who say me do so.
Hope that can help you.

Isn't the bootloader required to flash the ROM?
I'm very afraid of trying stock lollipop. I was on Temasek's CM12 build but I had abysmal batterylife. This was probably not attributed to Temasek's build but rather to CM12 as a whole, so I went back to my nandroid containing Crash Rom V19 on kitkat 4.4.2 and I literally have less than 1% drain per hour with the phone idle. I love this batterylife, and I feel I'd like to try and see if stock lollipop TW will give me the same but I would like the option to go back to kitkat if it's worse. I like lollipop a lot but the promise of batterylife seems to hit and miss, makes me stay on kitkat.
I know Crash Rom has a lollipop version, but beside this, which ROM is the MOST stock with the least amount of modifications?
Hey Guys,
So here is the deal; A few months ago I was happily enjoying my Note 3 rooted and customized the way I wanted. Something ended up happening, and long story short I ended up with a phone running 5.0 lollipop. I absolutely hate this update of android and it has caused many problems on my phone. I am looking for either a way to root 5.0, or downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.2. I have tried downgrading several different ways, but end up at the same error of "SW rev check fail fused 4 binary 3"
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
you cannot downgrade from 5.0 to 4.2 you can downgrade from 4.4.4 but you still wont have root. there is no root method out for 5.0 for note 3.
Thanks!
So could I downgrade to 4.4.4, and then go down to 4.4.2 from there?
no. you cannot your stuck at 4.4.4 some people choose 4.4. then 5.0..

I'm on 5.0 and hate it. Battery life is half what is was on 4.4.4 and it freezes for a sec all the time.
I'm am not rooted - can I go back to stock 4.4.4? That was at least better than this 5.0 crap.
Yeah you can go back to 4.4.4 I've read post of people on this forum saying they were able to get back to 4.4.4 you need to download the stock tar. Which you can find on sammobile than boot into download mode and then open Odin flash the stock tar. After its done flashing Then boot into stock recovery and do factory data reset. Wait about 5-10mins and should boot you into 4.4.4
Is it possible to downgrade the N910F from Lollipop (POF2) to KitKat (ANK5)?
YES, IT IS POSSIBLE.
Before yesterday I've never used KitKat on my Note4.. When I bought the phone I had no time to try it (KitKat) because I've straight rooted it and flashed a Lollipop based ROM.
Then yesterday I wanted to try a KitKat based ROM and I've lost about 30/40min looking in the forum for the answer to the question Is it possible to downgrade the N910F from Lollipop (POF2 or whatever) to KitKat (ANK5)?
I could not find a proper answer.. there was this BOF5 bootloader can not be downgraded but it was always in a "strange contest" and it did not convinced me.. after 30/40min I said ***k *t and I just performed a full wipe from TWRP, flashed ANK5 modem and bootloader via ODIN, and installed the KitKat ROM from TWRP.
Sorry for the Question/Answer but this thread may will help someone to save time.
P.S.: My KitKat adventure lasted only 10min... It looked ugly to my eyes! Went back on POF2 and now trying out AICP

When you flashed that lollipop-based rom, that was a custom rom I assume? Did it contain a bootloader? Maybe you were still on the KitKat bootloader.

Yes, it was a custom ROM. No, it didn't contain bootloader. No, I wasn't on the KitKat bootloader, for sure my bootloader was POF2. Trust me if I tell you that before the KitKat ROM I've flashed too many Lollipop ROMs with many Lollipop bootloaders.
I'm trying to do this but i fail in every action at odin with this SW rev. check fail. device 2 binary 1 in my SM-N910C and in odin its fail... ( i gets this after recovering my phone at kies after a bootloop )
i have a note 4 n910c with L.P 5.1.1 how a can downgrade to K.K or 5.01 L.P always fail when i try with odin. help please
Hello all, quick question
I have an S4 I9500 running GearCM13 (6.0.1) and I want to go back to stock 4.4.2, would following this guide do the trick or is it no longer possible to downgrade?
If this has already been discussed, a link is appreciated as I've searched and found nothing conclusive.
Thanks
It depends on your bootloader. If you never upgraded the bootloader from 4.4.2 you should be able to go back to stock rather easily. You may be able to go back even with an upgraded bootloader, since both the 5.0.1 bootloader and 4.4.2 bootloaders have Knox. You'll just have to try the guide.

Thanks, that's the info I needed.
To summarize the whole situation which led me to want to downgrade: I was on GEARCM13 and battery drain was too much to handle so I wanted to go back to a KK 4.4.2 rom (Ozcan) but then I read about Infernus Rom (Based 5.1.1 Ale95 Note Port) and went that way. Strephon's info helped me notice I didnt have to downgrade anything since I have a 5.0.1 bootloader.
Kinda convoluted response, if anyone wants further details, please pm.
