TWRP flashable COS stock ROM - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello @ all,

Thanks a lot

Use all in one tool. It's easy and fast. You can flash a stock rom with twrp(there is a thread) but you need to flash stock recovery and lock bootloader with fastboot!

Hi, well I have tried the "all in one tol" but I am getting some error on stock flashing. Unfortunately I did not found no info about that error and also did not got an answer to my error post in "all in one" thread.
This is why I wanted to try it with TWRP. Because flashing other roms works with TWRP.
Thx a lot for any help

Here's the prerooted rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/rom-cyanogen-os-12-1-yog4pas3oh-t3248820 which you can flash with twrp.
Maybe the flashing will be aborted because of your pc. Maybe a connection problem? Can you try another pc or another image? Maybe a corrupt image?

Hi, I have tried now to use again the "all in one tool" it did now a update of itself on first start and now when I click the "flash factory firmware" button, I am getting the message "no stock firmware found for now".
Here's the prerooted rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-...as3oh-t3248820 which you can flash with twrp.

But wouldn't that mean if I flash this prerooted rom, that the warrianty will still be broken? Because it is prerooted?
Thx

There's no rom afaik that's stock and flashable with twrp. Can you try another firmware as there's a list to chose from. Alternatively you can download the rom separately and flash it manually with fastboot

Well immediately after I click at "flash factory firmware" I get the "no stock firmware found" error.
So it seems that the all in one tool can't find no stock images to flash?
If I choos other bradns then zuk z1 (for example nexus) then the dropdown of images and the download of them works. Only on zuk z1 the error appears.
I would like to try to flash with fastboot, but I don't know how. I have downloaded the cm-12.1-YOG4PAS9IG-ham-signed-fastboot-b9cce4220b.zip but do not know how to flash directly.
thx

Have a look at post 4, the links are dead as cyan is dead. But maybe you find the images in the net, just Google for the file names. To lock the bootloader you find the command some posts below.

But how to flash the images? I have found both the normal and the fastboot image. But do not know how to flash them??
Maybe you have another hint for me.
Thx a lot

Here's a full video tutorial with the link(I searched for it damn) of the rom and how to revert back to stock

Oh dude, this was the solution. I had to download the "no fastboot" image and just flash it with twrp (without zip signature check).
Thank you very very much for your help. I really tried to search for hours at the big G. But seems that I searched wrong.

hey, so i just flashed this TWRP recovery and i managed to boot into TWRP recovery. But, whenever i click the 'Reboot' option or 'Power Off' option, the TWRP just stays right there and it won't even reboot or power off. I have to hold down the power button to turn off the phone and power it back. Any ideas why this is happening and anything that i've done wrong in the process?

Its a Bug, i guess same is happening with everyone. We just have to wait for official TWRP. and also
Bug Till NoW
Extra Option Named System partition Under Backup, Which has no Function and Doesn't Work.
Cant reboot/power off from recovery as it just freezes the recovery.
OTG doesn't work in Recovery.
TWRP gets replaced with Stock recovery after each Boot.

Trouble reflashing ASUS stock ROM for ZE551KL

I accidentally tried doing a factory reset, and flashing an incorrect rom. So I lost the stock rom, and have no other rom to use. I tried using TWRP to flash ASUS's stock firmware from asus's support website, under firmware. Using firmware file: "UL-Z00T-WW-1.16.40.763-user.zip"
but TWRP tells me "E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip'
Error flashing '/sdcard/TWRP/Stock.zip"
I still have access to both adb, fastboot, and TWRP but I cant get an OS to install.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, haven't even had this phone a day yet, and already may have broken it.
I don't have an answer to your question , just got this phone yesterday and am in the process of figuring out how to root and install a custom recovery for this specific device.. I have found many methods to root but none for my specific model. I think you have the same model as I do and was hoping you could lead me to the place that will give me the files I need.. the box my phone came in has the model as ASUS_Z00TD (ZE551KL).. Sorry I wasn't of any help to you, hope you manage to figure out how to flash something that will get your device running again!

Do yo mean this stock recovery? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64441364&postcount=9
How do I flash it? just "fastboot flash recovery stock_recovery.img" ?
If so, I've tried that, and TWRP still boot when I try to enter recovery. Also, once I've flashed the stock recovery, do I just place the firmware on the root of the sdcard as 'update.zip' and try to install it from there?
Thanks for your help already, and sorry about the repetitive questions!

What are you trying to flash? Custom kernel? Stock boot.img?
Either the .img is corrupt/incompletely downloaded OR you have unlocked boot loader using unofficial method.
1. Download the boot.img and try again
2. If it still gives error, you do not have a proper bootloader unlock. Try flashing twrp that is confirmed working by you, to verify if bootloader is properly unlocked or not.

Apparently, your current recovery version does not match with your current firmware version. There are two possible workarounds-
1. Wipe system by executing "fastboot erase system" in fastboot mode. Then reflash latest official asus lollipop ROM. This will fix the recovery and firmware mismatch and you will then be able to flash MM via stock recovery.
2. If you are experienced with edit8ng updater-script, Extract all contents of MM ota. Open updater-script and remove all asserts and lines that say "abort". Then compress the contents again. (You can't edit without extracting coz zip is signed). Flash this modified ota zip via TWRP.
If you still can't flash it or you are unable to edit updater-script, pm me, I have downloaded the MM ROM, I will send you modified updater-script.
I can even convert this ota into .imgs so that you can flash directly via fastboot

alright, download the updater-script from attachment. Flash via TWRP.
Detailed instructions-
First extract entire ota zip. Delete the original updater-script.
Then extract "updater-script_modified.zip"
Copy the extracted "updater-script" to extracted ota at the right location. (META-INF/com/google/android)
Compress the ota files as a zip using 7zip or winrar. Compression level "normal" . DONT USE ANY ANDROID APP FOR COMPRESSING, USE WINDOWS/LINUX APP ONLY.
Flash the modified zip via TWRP recovery

Assuming that you have set up adb/fastboot drivers, extract all the rom files to that folder and type in the commands mentioned here :

I also get these errors:

Is there a way to relock the bootloader?

I unlocked the bootlader and rooted the phone before giving it to my wife. During that whole process, fastboot had no problems recognizing the phone (obviously). Then my wife tried to update via the OTA which got her stuck in TWRP. I'd like to reflash the stock ROM, but the problem I have is I can't use fastboot to do commands line by line (as shown in the link above) since "fastboot devices" doesn't show my phone anymore. I was able to get her going on a custom ROM for now, but I'd like to put her back on the stock ROM so we won't encounter this problem again. I've reinstalled the Motorola driver several times, but no luck. ADB has no problems recognizing the phone when in recovery. One thing that happened recently was a big update to Windows 10, but I'm not sure if that is the reason for my fastboot issues.
I intend to give it a go on another computer once I get the phone again from the wife, but any advice until then would be appreciated.
Thanks. I've installed a custom ROM but im not happy with the results (specially the poor camera performace). Will this "undo" everything? I mean, stock apps, stock widgets, etc etc? (don't care if the bootloader stays unlocked and the warning moto message while booting). I know this may be a stupid question, but like Homer would say: "it's my first day"

Just a follow up to my previous post, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Motorola driver and ADB on the original computer, but for some reason it still won't "see" the phone in fastboot. I was able to install ADB/Fastboot and the Motorola driver on a separate computer (also Windows 10) to get fastboot to recognize the phone so I could issue commands to reinstall the stock firmware. I noticed, though, that the following commands FAILED when I entered them:
fastboot erase customize
fastboot erase clogo
I'm not sure what those were for, but the phone seems to be working fine on the stock firmware now.
I flashed the one in the retail folder and it says ret-EU in the settings so flash that one

Baseband file for XT1643 (ATHENE_INDIA) needed

No network on any ROM (stock & LOS-based ROMs). I might have flashed the wrong baseband file, can someone please give me the baseband specifically for India? Baseband required - M8952_70030.25.03.62.01R ATHENE_INDIA_DSDS_CUST

I'm on RR Remix N and have TWRP 3.1.1 shreps for the recovery. I can flash RR without any issues but whenever I try flashing either a JX series ROM or a fully stock ROM, TWRP says 'Invalid Zip File Format'. I have access to both bootloader and recovery, everything else works fine. Can someone please guide me on what to do? Do I have to sideload the ROM via ADB? If so, please enlighten me about the procedure

Why not trying to reflash the twrp(may try another one from official website or of silesh nair on his thread).
I think you might have turn on md5 checksum or another this which keeps verifying the zip and no signature is found.
Reflashing is a good course as it do not erase any data of yours.

I used 3 different versions of TWRP Still didn't help. And the MD5 checksums matched, zip signature verification has been disabled too

Try this and report. After installing wipe cache, dalvik.
If flashing recovery is problem, reflash stock rom w/ stock recovery n boot ans try again to flash twrp, might sovle the issue

Its power button followed by vol up, but hey that recovery ain't gonna help you. Im just saying you to reflash it as it will erase all the data of current twrp recovery which might interfere with another recovery(changes are negligible, but then too).
I gave you link to a 64-bit twrp made by dreamester and silesh nair. Try it and see if it works.
You can not flash stock ROM from TWRP or other custom recovery. You need a PC with Moto Drivers and fastboot tools installed. Then you have to flash the stock rom from fastboot (generally instructions are given inside rom zip in a file called 'flashfile.xml'). I can't say about flashing JX series ROM (maybe it needs you to be on stock first or something like that) but here are the files needed to install Motorola ADB and FASTBOOT drivers and ADB & FASTBOOT tools on windows pc:
https://firmware.center/software/Android/platform-tools/win/ and https://firmware.center/software/Motorola/

To get into stock recovery press VOLUME UP while pressing and holding POWER button but you can't flash custom ROM or wipe SYSTEM from there. For that purpose use Official latest TWRP recovery from their website.

I already have these installed! But when I run RDS and connect my phone in fastboot mode to the computer, RDS doesn't detect it in the program. I mean, the device doesn't show up in the boxes below. But when I run 'fastboot devices' in CMD I can see my device connected. And can you pleeease tell me how to flash ROMs through the stock recovery?

Stock recovery don't flash roms, thats why we use customs recovery. As he mentioned just flash the stock rom, enable usb debugging and oem unlocked. Just flash the files and again flash the recovery which ever suits you and thats it.
Note : take backup first as it wipes your internal storage.

I think reflashing the stock rom is the only thing to do. Read carefully whatever is written in that thread. And see if all the commands are properly exicuted.
I dont know any work around for sim as i have never had that issue. Tell me if its solved or not for just a bit of knowledge.
Edit : just for reference you are not using moto g4 play device, are you?
Standard ROM and recovery cannot be flashed by TWRP, only in fastboot mode.
