As I have started using this wonderful phone I have come to the realization that the development for this device is next to nothing. Are there any more developers as devoted to this community as I am?

Lol, way to post this in the dev section...

I think everybody is just taking a break and getting ready for the next update. By the way this thread should be in the general thread.

Its a question to the developers not the general public

there are a few developers and belive me i know a dead device i developed for the zte warp untill the androidforums.com mods told me there was no use move on.... the diference is there is no "community development" when multiple people work together to build the best rom possible and there id no themeing either which is a substancial part of any development community. i respect you evol4g otherwise i wouldnt have asked you to my team you are doing a great job keep it going the point of this post was to motivate some of the other developers that have been dormant since jellybean came out you all know that they are out there.
Mostly because people are waiting for 4.2. A lot of the current ROMs are similar and very stable so no need to really make new ROMs unless its say Touchwiz, Sense, or any other custom Android firmware. Wait until 4.2 and devs will probably start making more ROMs.
Incorrect thread is incorrect.

I will preface my comment by saying i really do appreciate all of the work still being done here. But, let's not kid ourselves. Compared to a year ago, or even 6 months ago, the development has slowed down substantially. I wouldn't say its dead, however this device is showing its age. There are new and better devices that a lot of the people that used to frequent this forum. have moved on to.
Again I do appreciate all of the work still happening in here. This is by far the best supported device I have owned!

i have to agree with you. but i want to pick it back up this device has potential you cant even imagine
After a year and a half I don't think there's much potential a dev hasn't thought of for this device. You don't see a lot of rom development much after the 2 year mark. Mainly because the devs upgrade to a new phone. I'm just grateful for the work the devs are currently doing!
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk 2
well im stuck on this phone for a while so you guys that are in the same situation ill keep working with you guys
It will pick back up when el goog releases 4.2 source. I don't think nexus s will "officially" get 5.0. I do think that a few devs will build it for this device regardless. I might even still be here for that, I haven't decided if I'm going to get a nexus 4 yet. The fact that there is potential for glass to break on both sides of the phone doesn't excite me...

Nope. No development in this thread, that is in the development section.

Good points and when development does eventually grind to a halt for this device, none of us can really get upset about that. It seems to me for the age of this device, development work has far outlived many other phones.

For a device of this age, with new devices out that trump it... to see any ROMs getting updated is amazing. Take a look at the HTC Vivid for a community that's dead!

For a new phone, yes. And from what I've been hearing, the battery life isn't even that great, considering the lack of LTE...
I'm a "new" Nexus S owner (bought one used for $120)... and I'm glad I did. It's a solid phone! Now only if I could figure out how to program peak and off-peak email syncing...
I think we'll have the option to have community aosp 5. It will be an option. Just liked the other nexus phones that stopped getting otas but had the option of a built one.

Maybe we should all learn how to develop ROMs. That go's for all non developers in this community, including me. If there was any guides on how to build really good ROMs I think the nexus community will be more understanding of how it is to be a developer and evolve the community.

Just ordered OP2 today and admittedly, was going to sell it asap for a little profit for Nexus in October, but now I'm thinking, with same specs, we should get updates from CM pretty damn quick shouldn't we? Huawei is a Chinese smartphone company, I'd bet a pretty penny almost everything is identical on the inside... What do you think? Does this mean earlier and more stable Android M+ builds in our future? Should I keep it?
Also, how many invites do I get in the mail with the phone this time. I got 3 last year.

Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
Its all speculation at this point. The N6 2015 may have the same chipset and stuff but that doesn't necessarily mean they're exactly the same.
The OPT doesn't have any support from CM, though...
I personally am upgrading from a Nexus 5 mainly because I upgrade my phone every two years anyways.
I am also upgrading because of the abysmal battery life with the n5, and I want more speed and ram.
Plus, a better camera and better speakers will be very nice. How about you guys?
I'm upgrading from a Note 4...
1) the lag can be ridiculous and nothing I do resolves it
2) the updates take too damn long to trickle down with AT&T having to mess with the firmware before releasing
3) work app will only work on nexus phones because of requiring updates to be as soon as possible

Samsung galaxy note 2. I get my phones through work. This is a great benefit for someone with more kids than disposable income (and because I'm always on call)
Although the brass purchases nearly every new device for testing (we are a broadcast company with video app and lots of games), they frown upon replacing personal devices each year.
I've had my note 2 since it came out. And last year was the first year computer acquisitions was able to offer/get nexus devices. But the demand was so high, I was unable to get a quote for the nexus 6 till March!
By that time, I figured I'd wait another 6 months for the newest nexus device.
I'm a flashaholic, so I've been rocking lollipop or note4 on my note 2 for a bit, but pure nexus will sure be nice!

Since you're a flashaholic, you'll definitely love nexus devices. There's a reason the development posts for the nexus devices have so many threads.
LG G3 because it's been over a year now and the cpu isn't good enough for 1440p and I have always wanted a nexus phone because verizon is sh*t and fast updates
I'm upgrading from the Samsung S6 with Verizon. I really love the phone and I'm rooted. I'm stuck on an older version of lollipop just to keep root. I had a version of the phone with the latest update and no root and the phone suffered drastically.
I chose to get the nexus 6p because I love Android and I want to get updates immediately. I'm hoping that Huawei makes a splash with there first US released phone.

It's definitely good to have another OEM in the US market. Especially with HTC doing poorly lately.

One of my best friends had a OPO and he loved the specs/speed, but was annoyed by the software support so I can definitely see why you'd want to upgrade.
Hopefully this phone turns out to be rock solid.
Also, time to update your signature
Samsung sm-910a / NO ROOT ! And to try out project Fi.
I dropped my LG g2 a week ago at work slightly and a couple days later it stopped reading all Sim cards. Sucked because it had one of the best development communities I've ever been apart of and the phone had unbelievable battery life. Phone just turned 2 years old, so I guess it was time for an upgrade anyway. Now I just have an excuse.

i'm coming from a tmobile galaxy s6 and i'm going to get the nexus 6p, but i want to wait a month or two to see how this snapdragon 810 performs in it. with the recent news of the xperia z5 heating up a lot even with sony putting in heat pipes and thermal pasting to try to keep it cool, i'm wondering how the 6p users will feel once they have it in hand and have a chance to work the soc.
Why are all threads and discussions about complaints? Are the first batches that bad? XDA has made me scared of ordering the 6P, all threads and topics are about something not working or defective. I'm thinking about waiting a while to buy it, whenever everything gets fixed, but is it REALLY all true?
no. if you need a phone buy it. see the reviews. they are all glowing.
Have you looked at any xda forum around the release of a device? People with issues post, people that don't have issues don't. No different here.

Of course, I understand, but with the 6P it just seems excessive. I've seen great reviews, but I trust the xda community and know some of you have been struggling with bugs, and have had to ask for replacements
I've been here a long time and its like this every device I get.
I bought this for my girlfriend and I can't put it down.. Love it over my Nexus 6 and the games I had performance issues with before are gone.
I'm going to buy me one here in a couple weeks.
I went ahead and bought the phone based on my own research and reviews. Most ofthe complaints here on xda are people trying to root their phone and not having the options they were used to on their old rooted phones. Battery bugs are to be expected and I am sure will be addressed in the future. You can buy the phone and try it, if you don't like it sell it on swappa.
I have the Moto x pure and wanted to try the Nexus 6p , now I got it it feels cheap the aluminum feels thin and the whole phone does not feel comfortable in hands , I'm gonna sell it and stay with Moto x pure , i think Nexus 6 was bigger but felt more premium .
Nexus and XDA = Winner! But u have to be the one to decide...
Hello Guys,
Confused between buying the new OP 3T which would be fairly ahead in hardware department with 821 SoC, 6GB RAM & DASH charge but then there Nexus 6P amazing speakers,2K screen, awesome camera and of-course the timely android updates till next nov.
Please suggest your views to help finalize my next Droid
Well it honestly depends on which features you require the most. Better specs does not mean a faster phone. If its possible. Try to use both. And then make your decision!

I have never seen such a problem mentioned in above link with my Nexus 6p unless you start flashing the phone. Its hard to decide between 6p and OP

You should pick the OnePlus 3T and I'm a Nexus 6P happy hardcore user.
What you gain:
- Newest SoC
- More RAM
- More battery life because the FullHD screen
What you lose:
- 0,2" screen size
- Stereo speakers
- 2K screen resolution
I love my Nexus 6P but honestly, if I will need a new smortphone I already know my choice.
My two cents.
Non of the above! Like the Nexus6 P, I think the Huawei Mate 9 will be a SuperStar!
Too big ?

I also love my 6P but I got the itch for a new phone. So I been pondering on the OP3T the Development for the OP3 is good and I would assume the OP3T would be also.
I really can't find another phone that catches my attention ..
Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
The answer is simple unless you have Verizon or Sprint; then it's 6p.
So the answer is carrier dependent.
If any of you have ever had to deal with the outright lies and nonexistent support from OP, I would steer clear of them. I was one of the early adopters of the OPO and went through hell trying to get a phone that was worth a crap. Yes, it had great specs, but did not live up to the hype. In fact, the whole company was a hype machine in the early days. I am sure that there are some later adopters of the OP around here that can give you some later information about the company. As for me, I will never put myself through the hell of dealing with them again.

I'll say wait a bit... We got a new processor coming in soon ... Like within 3 months... And then 821 is kaput....
But given a urgent consideration if I have no working phone with me... I'll got for HTC10...
Bought my Dad that phone and he hasn't been happier.... No lags whatsoever... Compared to his 2nd phone Mi5...

I have a 6p and 1+3
My 6p is 10 months old amd and i can see it lagging
I mean 3gb ram isn't enough i have to reboot my phone every 4th day to clear ram
I am not a heavy user lol no games
But this is what it is
My 1+3 is 2 weeks old and i can see the difference
The only reason it's not my daily driver and i gave it to my dad was ****ty camera
It really sucked and being a heavy snapchatter lol i had to stick with my 6p
Go for the 1+3T after seeing the camera reviews
Even the front camera of 1+3 sucked so much
Cheers

The 6p, as good as it it is right now is getting boring. I drooled every time I read about the 3T, Pixel, or the V20s.
6p for the aluminium body and front facing speakers
