SM-G935W8 carrier / network issues after going to android 7.0 - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So I just installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/android-nougat-7-0-beta-1-rom-test-t3498664) and everything works perfectly, EXCEPT I can't connect to my carrier (Rogers Canada). I tried to reply to the post but I don't have enough post count apparently. I know it says its only for SM-G935F however I know that the SM-G935W8 and SM-G935F models are the exact same software and hardware except for how it connects to the network hardware wise but the ROM from my understanding does not matter.
Can anyone get me in the right direction to solve this issue? The rom is awesome so far and wifi works without issue however if I can't connect to my carrier then I got a big problem on my hands.
Thanks in advance!

I figured it out, it has an install option to wide the modem with a new version but that new version is only for the region F of the phone which will break the W8 version.

[Q] G900F Network registration problem after flashing

Hi I have international version of S5 G900F. I flashed the phone with UK BTU stock rom. Now the problem is I cannot connect to the Network.
I tried going to Settings->More Networks -> Network Operators -> Select automatically . It took 5-10 mins to search but cannot connect.
Sim is not locked as it was working before I flashed the stock rom. also I read somewhere in internet that once the phone is region unlocked, it is permanently unlocked to use any other country sim. I don't know the original region of my phone but I bought it in Uk from 3rd party dealer not from any carrier.
I can think of two thing at the moment. It should be either regional locked again, but it does not prompt any thing to activate or enter pin or anything like that. or it should be wrong modem.
Is there a way to find if the phone is region locked ?
and is there a way to find correct region of the phone ?
the label on the box was removed so I cannot find from the box as well.
Thanks in advance.
I still haven't fixed this problem. Could someone suggest how to fix?
I've attached some screenshots with my phone info.
first image shows NETWORK:UNBLOCKED and IMEI Certi: PASS
-> I think this means, the phone is not blocked by network, and IMEI certificate has passed so it's not stolen or lost claimed phone.
another screenshot is the Firmware and CSC code/country information,
-> this means, this phone is build to sell in UK, so UK sim should unlock the regional lock.
Also the phone was working fine before I installed stock rom which I dowloaded from sammobile.
in the sceenshot, one of the network is connected but it says emergency call only because it cannot register to the network.
It is not sim lock also, because when I put T-mobile sim it does not ask for pin to unlock also.
what is wrong here. any idea guys? xda supposed to be the biggest android forum and samsung s5 is one of the most popular phone at the moment, isn't there anyone who have similar problem and solved? or atleast give some reason this cannot be fixed at all.
does the TMobile sim work? does it register with the network? If yes, then call the provider (of the other sim) and ask what's going on. Maybe you have a broken sim?

I've tried with Orange sim, and it still cannot register to the network. When I put the orange sim, it pop up a dialogbox asking to choose a network provider, there was two options, T-mobile and orange. So it is detecting the sim, but it cannot register.
And also, I tried my sim in another phone, and my sim works in another phone without any problem.
Did you try to flash the firmware again, and then after that restore factory defaults?

Yes I did, still it didn't work. I emailed samsung customer service with the problem, and they asked me to restore factory defaults.
I did that again but didn't work.
I tried one custom ROM as well. same problem in that rom.
You're rooted? If yes then there might be problem with the modem part of the ROM, can you install the official one part ROM and try with that?

I've installed stock rom several times, and several different versions( from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-G900F&pcode=0 ). Rooted several times, installed modem.bin files several times from many custom rom/ stock rom. None of them worked. I tried installing modem.bin when not rooted as well. And all the attempt failed.
I did everything I could possibly think of , Then I posted the question in the forum.
You have the IMEI ??!? Or it is lost?? Then only per efs-backup…
Or sim is broken…

I'm having the same problem, but with G900H. I have stock firmware, rooted and everything's working fine until suddenly, I have no network. I restart the phone and get network again but only for a couple of minutes.

Sry XanoZuke, I could not do anything to fix this, so I returned the phone and got another handset. I now have Exynos Octa-core version. Found snapdragon version is more power efficient. My phone gets heated very quickly.

Don't worry, I found out that the motherboard was water damaged (the irony of life....), so a bought an LG G3.
Regarding the Exynos chip, I'm never buying anything exynos ever again. The performance is not as solid as Snapdragon and it gets heated really fast. Still, thanks for your reply! ?

Sorry i end up selling the phone as is..
Same deal
My g900f has no mobile services sims fine
I have the same problem.
Cannot connect to network after flashing new ROM. Since then I tried about 10 different original roms and couple custom roms. Number of different MODEMs and BOOTLOADERs but with no joy. SIM card works fine in different phone.
Also I tried to load different CERT files and QCN with Z3X Box but that didn't help either.
I've tried *#0011# command here are results:
with LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto-connect:
imgur.com/i69HCBM
with WCDMA only:
imgur.com/QPbvKHG
and GSM only:
imgur.com/8InhQWQ
It seems that GSM is not working at all.
At this stage I run out of ideas and probably gonna get rid of the phone as it is or use it as pimped-out ipod touch
(sorry for messed up links but I can't post to outside sites yet)

I have already done apn settings and still to no avail i cant work this out for the life of me the only thing i keep thinking is that this model may not be compatible with my country as i know the sm-n910g is australia and the sm-n910k is korea i think ive bought myself a dud unless theres something i can do software wise idk any input is great imput though :/
Did you bought a new device, n910k or was it a replacement part? If you're comfortable, you can always change the USB port itself. I've done it for my Note 2 before. The USB port should be just a ribbon cable so you don't have to worry about soldering and stuffs like that. The prices are also way cheaper too.

Apparently the usb port is tricky to replace as its apart of the screen as samsung has told me and its a whole new device its the korean version im not sure what to do as the place i bought it from is a long distance away from where i live and i was wondering if there was a way i could install like the sm-n910G firmware to it. Im at my wits end with this and not sure what to do.
Oh right. I forgot about that. It was a simple plug out and in for my Note 2.
The issue right now is that the n910k, most probably does not support Australia's LTE bands. Hence the reason why you can only connect to 2G. You can check out gsmarena for the supported LTE bands for different models.
You can install a stock Note 4 Exynos firmware from another country with a carrier that uses the same LTE band as your carrier. It should be safe as some members here are able to install different firmwares meant for another device on their device, example N910G on N910F provided the CPU are the same.
Go to SamMobile, and find the firmware for Note 4 and you can see a list of Note 4 firmware available for download. You need to do some leg work though to ensure that the firmware you're flashing is meant for the Exynos version and the modem supports your carrier's LTE band.
This video shows what I'm talking about.

No don't install over the n910g over your n910k. N910k is using a different cpu than N910g. N910k uses Samsung's Exynos processor and N910g being a Snapdragon processor. Idk what would happen if you flash a N910G over a n910K but I think it would be considered lucky if your phone would be able to boot up.
Your n910k should be able to run on another firmware meant for an Exynos processor like n910c. I just don't know if, after installing over your 4G would work because of different LTE bands. But this website says there's a chance it might work.
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/zYzu9/samsung-galaxy-note-4-sm-n910c/australia
Usually in most cases, when a user accidentally installs a firmware meant for another variant, assuming they would get past the samsung boot up scene, they would not be able to get any network connections. This is due to different firmwares having different modem files for the different LTE bands. However if you were to install over a firmware with the same internals as your current device and more or less uses around the same LTE bands, it should work.

Here you go. It's every firmware ever listed. You need to create an account before downloading though and the download takes forever. You can install the firmware when your phone is in download mode using Odin via your computer.

You can try a random one. Preferably one without a telco. Example, N910C and not N910C (telco name). It shouldn't matter much as the difference would be that the one with a telco would come preinstall with the telco apps. Also, preferably from a English speaking country because usually the language would be based on country.
I would recommend you to download the original firmware for the n910k in case if this fails, you would be able to fall back to the original firmware.

Galaxy s7 edge weird issue?

Hy all! This is my first thread.
And so sorry for my english.
So I bought a galaxy s7 edge (g935f) from the internet and it has a lot of weird issue...first this phone is a single sim t-mobile (hungary) version, but the software says this is a dual SIM version (935FD) I flashed a full-wipe 4 file from with Odin but after that the problem is still there. If I go to the ONE I menu the first imei is the phone's own imei, but the second imei is just a lot of zeros.
My second problem is that the wireless connections doesn't works.
The Bluetooth can't find any BT devices and the Wi-Fi is recognize only the 5ghz networks.(2.4ghz networks are invisible)
Is it possible to get this phone back to normal?
Is it should work if I try to reinstall the phone with smart switch? That app is download firmware that is match with the phone original carriers Rom.
Thanks in advance.
If the phone is the dual sim one (SM-G935FD) flashing the BTU ROM from SM-G935F (single SIM model) or the INU ROM from the SM-G935FD, it'll detect the second SIM slot that also works as microSD card.
By detecting it, it seems you have an G935FD...
try flashing one of those ROM's I have mentioned above with ODIN and do full wipe of the phone.
That will probably solve everything

Update SM-G935FD Dual Sim to Android 7 ?

I bought this phone from the USA about year and a half and I'm using it in Macedonia, Europe the whole time. It is a dual sim, but I'm not sure which country it is exactly from, Taiwan maybe I guess?
The model is SM-G935FD and the Baseband version shows: G935FXXU1APB6.
I tried updating it manually, but always says you're using the latest software version even though android 7 has came out a long time ago.
Can you tell me:
1. How can I update to android 7 ?
2. Why am I not receiving an update automatically, even though this feature was working when I bought the phone. I was getting regular updates automatically ever since I bought the phone up unti a point when the 7 came out.
3. If I update the firmware through an SD card or whatever method you suggest its best, will I continue receiving regular updates automatically after I install the v7.0 ?
4. How can I check what country is this phone from?
Lots of questions, would be glad if someone can clear these things up for me so I can understand better how this works with samsung and different countries models etc.
Thanks up front!
try smart switch on PC to update it... frend of mine had s7 flat and no update via mobile phone, as soon as I connected it to pc and turned on smart switch update came out...

I'm sorry for my noobish questions, but can you please explain to me how to choose the country of my firmware? Do I need to choose a country which I currently reside in? Or do I need to choose a country for which the phone was made? I just want to use English language, even though I use it in Macedonia, Europe.
Please kindly advise. Thanks!
1. How can I update to android 7 ?
i had the exact same problem as you smart switch n ota both said i was on latest software. All you need to do is goto sammmobile download firmware for your s7 edge model if your phone is non carrier or unlocked then you can download any carrier version. after that download Odin n Samsung drivers n view an odin flashing tutorial on YouTube.
3. If I update the firmware through an SD card or whatever method you suggest its best, will I continue receiving regular updates automatically after I install the v7.0 ?
I am getting all the 7.0 updates.
4. How can I check what country is this phone from?
if i remember correctly Its written on the smartphone box although u don't need to worry about the country all you need to know is the model number.
But to tell the truth there is no performance difference only ui change but still if u want to be on the latest version then use Odin. good luck.
I have flashed my s7 edge about a dozen times n haven't faced any flashing problem just be sure to use original cable n try not to use the computer while the flashing is happening. use odin in adminstrator mode n if possible kill extra background processes like chrome etc (not needed but i still do it just to be safe)

Just checked my phone with PHONE INFO app and there seems to be no CSC code?! All these field are empty:
Original CSC Code: blank
Firmware CSC Code: blank
Active CSC Code: blank
Available CSC Codes: blank
CSC Country: blank
I tried dialing *#1234# and it says:
"USSD code running"
but it shows some kind of error right after:
"connection problem or invalid mmi code"
and does not enter the menu with the CSC code. Tried restarting the phone, switching sim cards and what not.. Nothing worked and I have no clue what my CSC code is now.
My original box is gone and can't really see what country it was made for, but as far as I can remember it didn't say anything on the box. The title of the original amazon.com listing says: Internationally Sourced (Middle East/Africa/Asia) Version G935FD which doesn't say much.
I don't know what to do, I'm a bit scared to flash it with just about any country firmware. There's got to be a way to find more about this phoe CSC?

Help: SM-G9500 3G/4G in Europe

Hi!
I just got SM-G9500 (bought in Taiwan), and internet is not working, I believe have tried everything in the settings. Phone unlocked, LTE sign next to carrier on top is there, everything else is ok, except data network. SIM on other phone (S7) works fine. Yep, me located in Europe (Vodafone HU).
Is it possible to get 3G/4G with this phone with my operator? If yes, can one point me to the direction how to achieve this?
Baseband G9500SQU1AQC9, Kernel 3.18.30-10318693, Build version SEPF_SM_G9500_5.0.2_0008
Please help!
Nandi
Do you mean G950F? ie a S8. if so just go here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/ (you can find S8+ too if that's what you meant), download the right files for your country & mobile operator, and flash via ODIN

No, I meant G9500, like as here, for example: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/support/model/SM-G9500ZDDTGY or here https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G9500/

Well, I just posted a link where you can see that there are only two countries listed ... or differences in S8 models (and processor) does not matter, so I can take any S8 file? ... I am aware of this principle, but dont see anybody did it in similar case as mine (or with G9500).
Still waiting for opinion/ideas...

Yeah it will make a difference, that phone is only for far-east markets, hence the firmware, you can try the Hong Kong version, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Far east models run very different frequencies on their modem I believe, could be wrong though
you don't need to flash anything.
you have a Galaxy S8 (SM-G9500)
your phone "speaks" all known wireless frequencies (from the factory) & it can be used anywhere in the world.
The LTE icon just means your phone is registered on the LTE network.
It doesn't (yet) mean you have internet access.
you're 1/2 way there.
at least your LTE works.
You need to contact Vodafone HU helpdesk & ask them to give you the "Access Point" details for their network.
** Normally network providers send you these details in a text message - the first time the phone connects to their network - but maybe you didn't accept the settings / deleted the text message?
Once you have the settings:
Go to: Settings / Connections / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names <--- select "ADD" & then enter the details provided by Vodafone HU & save the access point details.
Your internet access will work after a couple of seconds.
From hungary too
Hy, I'm hungarian too,and i'm just writing in english because of forum. I bought also an SM-G9500,and i still didn't get Oreo. Or any softwer updates since january. If you want, search me on facebook, Gyarmati János István.

Try flashing with Odin 3.13.1
Apparently some older versions of Odin generate a SH256 (encryption??) error
