So as the title says.. Iam kinda wondering whats the best rom thats close to the Pure nexus rom? Since they stopped dev on the pure nexus.
I love this rom variant on my nexus 10. So want something similar on my OPO too with android 7.1.1
Are there even any around yet ?
Sorry if this have been asked many times before. just didnt find a good answer to be honest...
Hi! There's a Pure Nexus ROM for OPO, I've never tried it but that's the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-pure-nexus-oneplus-one-t3477772 ; If you want something very stock-like there are many AOSP based ROM in the Android Development section. I'm using Nitrogen OS right now and i can say it gas a good mixture of feature from different ROMs like DU. I hope that this has been something useful
EDIT: thread has been closed as you mentioned, but the ROM isn't good ad a daily driver as i read later... Sorry

well some answer and recommendation is better then none so really appresierte that.
ya noticed there are many. And feel its a little messy whats a full rom and whats not. my OPO got COS 13.1. and since they are no more is the reason i want to change.
Also i have been using the pure nexus rom on my nexus 10 witch is why i want something simelar on my OPO. it made my Nexus 10 fast and smoother agian.
In my opinion best Nougat ROM for OPO is Nitrogen OS: fast, stable, tons of personalizations, great battery life, Sultan's camera HAL (which is way better than CM ones IMHO), substratum, weekly updates.
I was on Pure Nexus and due to the dev blowing a fuse and closing his project after putting out a bug filled 7.1.1 build and blaming the users, i moved to Resurrection Remix, very stable, no bugs so far, i'm on the 20170104 build. BTW this is my MHO

Lol, he abandoned the project because he don't have bacon anymore. He just wanted to put out a final build, where's the problem? He can't test it and without logs he can't do ****...
He didnt blame the users...but only the morons who reports bugs...complains....ask to fix bug...but same.morons can't even provide a log
Just hope he'll bring CarbonROM for bacon
There's a thread for this here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/best-favorite-rom-kernel-roll-thread-t2886021
So I'll close this one. :good:

As of now, no there is not.
CM 10 is generally the most popular ROM. But when you're here, paranoidandroid is the most popular ROM.

CyanogenMod is always going to be the most stable custom ROM as long as you use the stable releases, simply because it's the most actively attended to and tested one. MIUI, Paranoid Android and Slim Bean come next and have their own perks, but they're just not on the same level.

ok, since there is no stable version of CM10, and I am not so into paranoidandroid, I guess the stock ROM is my only choice...Any custom kernel which works better with the stock ROM ?Without overclocking...I have 1800+ benchmark points in Antutu...Do you recommend smthing else ?

not really,
other roms base on the most stable rom in existance, google android, aosp. cm must take this base and make it possible for old, incompatible devices to get their share. thats only possible by extending the living heck out of it. some of it is overlaid, some is not. errors come in naturally, that just happens when you leave the safe path of aosp, hundreds of commits going through gerrit stemming from all kinds of sources. dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide, the same speed and level of customization.
as a developer i can tell you that the software i get from google is flawless, they support me with functioning drivers and blobs, documentation and guidelines. i can literally forget about everything else and go wild, extend and create new stuff that wasnt there before. i will never run into the myriads of problems the cm team is uncovering in their crusade of introducing android to legacy devices - and that in my opinion is their true power.
pps- i see you included MIUI as well. think again. guess which is the worlds biggest rom with millions and millions of users. miui. guess whos the only rom that has on ounce of design credibility. miui. they have done things in their freetime that rival professional products and you can be sure a matias duarte will not go to xda when he's out of ideas, he's taking note when miui drops a release instead. i think you are greatly underestimating them.

dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but the reason it traditionally takes a backseat on nexus plattforms is that it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide. it cant provide the same speed and it cant provide the same level of customization. on all other plattforms cm is the unrivaled king, that is true.

thats up to you. try rasbeanjelly, aokp, carbon, liquid, xylon, minco, whatever you want. try cm. they all are unique in one way or another. im not commenting on what you should flash, you'll see what suits you best. i am commenting on the assumption that cm is stable and everything else is less stable which is complete and utter bullsh1t.

paranoid android, just put all the apps back in phone mode and its basically a stock rom with added speed and a few more customizations. plus i like the kernel colors and the custom app colors, very well done
xylon is also great but not personally my favorite, has many customizations and is much like aokp with its own feel
Codefire-X is also one of the most stable and speedy roms out, it and PA are probably my favorite roms right now, and i feel bad its often overlooked, its like aokp with a more stockish feel but faster and stabler at this point
theres also Carbon rom which is made by a few the awesome liquid rom developers, havent tried yet but looks good
Saber Mod looks cool too with its linaro optimizations but as with carbon i havent had time to try it out
there are also some interesting roms like PAC and Rootbox, but those dont really sound like they would appeal to you as much
also keep in mind i mostly prefer the roms in original android development because of the general cleaner feel, but many of the roms in normal android development are also good if you want a bit of a different feel or special tweaks
but whatever you choose, just dont stay on stock you wont regret going with any of these roms over stock
I'm using MMuzzy rom now for some days and is realy good. Is aosp with some optional features i miss in stock rom. I combine it with Trinity four kernel and for now no problems with that combination.
Never like CM or aokp...to much features and never work without problems.
On the road with my Nexus S...

rasbean jelly, fast and stable.
I'm running PureNexus and its a great rom but is CyanogenMod a viable choice for this phone? I haven't really seen threads on it but i see there are nightlies being built.
Coming from an OPO CM was a pretty big deal but it doesn't seem so here. Is anyone running it that can give their opinion?

Lots of good choices and I've tried at least a half dozen. It's completely subjective but so far my personal favorites are RR, Pure Nexus and Screw'd. RR has all the extras most would want but it's really stable as well.
Yea I think CM gets lots of attention because it seems to be a popular rom to port to devices that don't have as many roms (or none at all besides CM.) Not that it's not really good. I've used it on other devices. Some were really stable, others I'd need to do clean installs every month or so. Using multirom now and have Pure Nexus as my primary rom with Uberstock and RR as secondary, but that could change from week to week.

It's certainly buggy, but I've found it worthwhile. Root access, privacy guard and call whitelisting are features I'd not want to be without.
Hey,
So we've had MIUI ported to this device from osprey - that I know. I've been using the build for a couple of weeks now and its kinda stable - although there are some bugs (some from the osprey port which I guess can't be fixed until they are - and that post has shut down.)
I'm not much of a developer myself which is why I'm asking here - what's the chance of us getting a stable MIUI port?
Thanks
- Jago
I wanted the same , but the miui thread has been closed by the moderator due to credits not given to the developer of the ROM...
I would love to see this ROM for this device as it is quite feature packed and very refreshing
As its Here already, I guess we have no chance. A stable one is a dream and we could only get the bugged one we have right now. As the only thing we could do is port right now and the bigger devs arent interested in building MIUI, I guess MIUI is over for our devices.

It's really sad news cause MIUI has some of the best features you look for in a ROM ( before anyone says other , when was the last time you even cared for the countless settings in Resurrection remix ROM ?!)

Hi folks,
I want to change my ROM from xXx to another one, because xXx doesn't feel as fast as it used to be. And I wantto try another one. What ROM would you suggest? Which ROMS are considered popular, fast, stable andwith good support and user base? Thanks for helpimg me deciding, I want to narrow it down to 2 - 3 alternative ROMS to xXx mad try them and decide which suits me most.
Notice
please do not hate me for another topic which may seem dumb to you. I have been reading XDA Developers daily since I got my android (I started with HTC HD2, heh). I know there is no correct answer to my question and I believe most of you will reply something like " don't ask, just try" or "it is stupid question" or "go to other forum in this section, because we want to trashtalk you there".
I know that most of the users here on XDA are helpful, and so am I - I try to give advices to others whenever I think hadI experienced and solved any problem that other users might have had. But sadly there is also the loud minority of users that instead of helping others just replies something like "RTFM" (in better case). So, if You are this kind of people, please do not answer.Yes, I googled. Yeas, I read comparisons< just want to hear yout tips etc..
Thanks, folks!
Since owning my OP5, I have tried the following roms:
Freedom OS
then tired
xXx (for many months)
But recently, i'm now on
AquariOS 8.1.0 https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...om-aquarios-8-1-0-live-support-volte-t3768515
For me it’s d.u the most stable rom and aicp just after.
Have you considered that the setup on your phone and not just the ROM could also affect performance? What kernel and settings do you have? What other mods and tweaks do you use?

I would love to use AquariOS also .. But when I tried it I ended getting reboots always when using portable hotspot so that was a deal breaker for me .. Which version you are?
Also Im coming from xXx and now using aosp extended .. rather would use AquariOS
Why not try resurrection remix? I'm using it ever since 7.2 and it's amazing
I was on OOS until a few weeks ago. I tried a few custom ROMs, but crDroid seems to take the cake for me. It's pretty stable, has nice features, it's just great overall. I suggest giving it a try.

Go for codename Phoenix. You can use camera m with all features working. It's also pretty smooth and gets updated often.

Thanks, will try.
I tried AquariOS, but the ROM is not ready for encrypted phones and has battery-related issues, despite being super beautiful and ultra fast. So I came back to xXx, this time to 10.3 version. But I will try other roms, so I can post updates here if anyone is interested.
Yet I must say I hoped for far larger number of people giving their thoughts, when I see how many users downloads and uses custom ROMS, as well as how many discuss threads.
Anyway, thank y'all!
I was on xXx for many months. Today am gonna try the Ressurection Remix (the GSI one) since project Treble is ported to our phone!

All ROMs use LineageOS's shamu kernel and device code, so you won't see much of a difference.
I've used several Android 10 ROMs, including LOS, and have settled on crDroid because it has a lot of customisation (though in itself that's normal) but also Face Unlock, which I really like. Other ROMs may also have it - I haven't checked. Overall I agree with Elektroschmock - since they use the same code base you'll find it difficult to find huge differences. They have all been stable for me - just Face Unlock made the difference for me, but I reckon you'll be happy with pretty much any one of them.
Edit after three days. Right, that's it for me. I'm taking my own advice. This is definitely the last time I'll offer any help or support to a junior member. I'm done with their lack of interest in answers.

I feel like XDA would be more active if there is a Discord. Reddit is also a good resource that has taken over the popularity of sites

For clarification why there are two different forums:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2112240
So "Android Development" is the right place for most ROMs as the only thing they do is rename some LineageOS stuff.

I was just answering his question.
I was answering with Android 10 ROMs in my mind.
If you do a proper Android 11 bringup for shamu, it would be justified to post it in original development.
And Yes I would use your repositories - thats the spirit oft open source. But I suspect they are in a state where it's better to keep them closed as I do with mine.
I love full gestures in Android 10, so I tried several roms to find the smoothest one with full gestures on: Lineage, crDroid, Pure Pixel, Carbon. All with original kernels, nanoGapps and some 20 apps of mine installed.
The smoothest performance over time I found with Pixel Experience, using Lawnchair2 as a home launcher.
Cheers
PS: all of them roms run super smooth if you do not use full gestures, and each has its super nice tweaks
