There's no problem with current root that available. I can even RW /system. Run adaway, lucky patcher, root explorer and many more without any issue.

Try to mount system manually then install supersu. If is doesn't work. Try factory reset after install update.zip then install supersu then install data update.zip. You might need to install twrp.img again before rebooting.

Will try this and report.
Edit: Confirming this works. Cheers bro, was unsung a different apk.
Off topic: Any work around on missing internal storage space after nougat flash? I've tried FRS without success, plus it wipes data zip. Settings is showing firmware at 7+GB, doesn't seem logical. Any fixes via root access?

I've never done either, should I have ???? Wasn't familiar with that process anyways.

Doesn't work for me. Think I tried everything. Including the instructions here to mount system and flash supersu or flash update, factory reset, supersu + update. I tried with and without boot patch.

Also works on 690 sw version.
After reboot i still got root access.
No downgrade needed, i only installed kingroot.
Did just a short test with titanium, seems to work fine.
As now its already 2 am here, ill look into it tomorrow when im at work.
Thanks for sharing that information.
doesn't work completely. Su Binary semi-working (root access granted, but titanium for example doesn't show user apps. also nut recovery cannot be installed, as the installer doesn't know kingroot su.) and building up an internet connection to china.

Well, i don't see your point now.
You can just root using the KingRoot payload and then replace kingroot with supersu, since you have writeaccess to system.
I'd installed King Root on a 23.1.A.0.726 - got root with it, installed dualrecovery, falshed the same FW as prerooted, removed king root and use now supersu
Very easy and short way.
Edit: forget what i said, didnt work

Actually I am having several problems. After I bricked my MT7-L09, I found a TWRP backup of MM that someone else posted and I restored it. It got my phone back up and running, but a couple things don't work; wifi and gps are my biggest concerns.
In the "about phone" menu, the model number is now showing JAZZ, and the build number is MT7-C900B511. Do you know how to fix the wifi or gps? Can I use a fresh copy of this ROM and reinstall it to fix it? If so, do you know how? When I looked up the location using the keypad sequence *#*#2846579#*#* it shows no file exists. The phone is rooted.
If fixing it is too difficult due to my limited skills, I'm fine starting over with KitKat, but I don't know where to get the files I need to do it.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

My personal experience is some modules don't work well with Emui and even lag and/or increase battery consumption of the phone. Hiding root or greenify, for example, are a hit or miss.

Try a VPN to Canada (use opera VPN, this works great!). I did that as well and then I was able to update using the system updater

I rebooted the phone! I've even tried going into 'Apps' and doing a 'force stop' on the System update...no joy, guess it's not my day today :crying:
