Hello Community,
im from Germany, so don't judge me if my english skills are not that good.
So here is my problem.
I couldnt wait for the new nougat update. I decided to flash the beta 3 i guess with odin. Everything has gone right, the battery life was perfect, the performance great, everything was really smooth until i tried to get twrp on it. Ive got an endless bootloop. I flashed nougat again and everything was great. However now my battery life is the worst. I charged it to 70% it dropped down to 5% in like 3,5 hours ? I have nothing installed except whatsapp and the XDA App. I deactivated facebook, galaxy store and every bloatware.
It took about 2 hours to get from 5% to 32% with the fast charge enabled. When disabled it took longer.
i have wiped the cache section and nothing helped. I wiped all data and installed my backup from smart switch ive done befor i wiped everything.
Please i need help, im afraid that i broke my battery.

I dont think you have made it kapput. Flash the stock firmware back and see if the problem is solved. Beta versions of software usually come with bugs, sometimes many , some times a few. I remember when lollipop just came out, i installed on my droid rarz and i hard a simarly problem to you. I just flashed my stock ROM back and every returned to normal

The Problem is, i did not have the problem when i flashed it first. But the second or third time ruined something i guess.
I dont want the stock marshmallow rom back to be honest.
Just try and see if the problem still persist. I think that's the only way you can find out if its the rom or u breaked your phone

Wait, yesterday i have done this, the battery drain was kinda normal, but now i see the "android system" is draining with like 30% of the total battery usage after the third nougat flash.

There are quiet a few reasons why it might be broken. But again i still insist on trying out back the stock ROM

i say it again, i did go back on the stock. And yes, the battery life was kinda better. And then i flashed nougat back. The problem is, why is the android system draining so much with 30% for the total battery consumption.
Ohhh.if it got besser that simply means there seem to be a lot of background activity with the nougat

Anyone else had this / any ideas - my s4 randomly reboots. Can sometimes be when I'm using it or other times when it is sitting idle.

yup, i had this after running a custom rom for a few days. i'm sure it wasn't the rom though, i restored back to stock last night just in case, we'll see.
However, in the future, please also post your ROM, kernel, etc.
For example, having your phone OC might result in such random reboots...

I didn't change the kernel and I don't want to name the ROM because I'm sure it's not its fault - it was fine for a few days with plenty of reboots and activity/usage. Sounds like others on stock have the same problem (not necessarily related to the camera issue), so I've gone back to my stock backup and will see what transpires.

I understand you, but it is not like blaming the ROM creator. Is that you might have discovered a bug, and you can help to get it solved.
personally, the first thing I would do is to make a factory reset. This is not the case for you any more... but however.
Good luck and please tell us got things go on...
Fair enough, it was slim bean build 6 on Verizon. I reverted to my stock twrp backup last night (10hrs ago) and been fine so far...
on the latest d802 4.4.2 custom roms and kernels i get a lot of freezes.
it will freeze in the middle of an animation and will take some seconds up to some minutes and then working normal again.
sometimes i have to hard-reboot to get out of freeze / lag.
on older 4.4.2 slimroms i never had this behavior, only since some weeks with new roms / kernels.
i`ve tried every rom / kernel combo but sooner or later i will get a freeze again.
could a revert to stock and re-rooting / flashing custom rom maybe a solution? i`m afraid to do this because of the long time to backup my 32gb data.
what are your experiences with the latest 4.4.2 roms and kernels? did you find a solution for this with any combo or fixes?
help would be appreciated.

The only thing I can say is I own the VS980 version of the device and i've tried every single 4.4 rom offered on this sight and have the same issue with all. Most of the time i'm using the device and it freezes, sometimes reboots, and sometimes comes out of it after a few minutes. Also not being able to wake the device only seeing a black screen and forced to hard reboot device. 4.3 seems to be a much better with these issues but not completely solved for me. I'm hoping the release of 4.4 source from lg will fix these issues but i'm unsure. So at least your not alone in these problems lol. I've tried multiple kernels and governors etc. Bumping up the min freq on the cpu seems to help and changing to interactive governor but doesn't eliminate the issue just help. I thought my next move would be to use lg flash tool and update to latest firmware reroot and install cwm.

i think i will do the same today after work. hopefully this helps.
the better option would be to stay some days on stock rom to ensure there is no hardware defect. but i can`t stand stock so this would be a hard route! ^_^

Yea unfortunately it seems very common among these devices so i'm pretty confident it's a software issue although i'm not 100% sure of that. I ran a flex rom for a few days on 4.2.2 and didn't have any of the same issues.
added a poll as a matter of interest.
omni-ROM, Mokee rom, vanir rom etc.freezing problem still continues.
Using CM11 (4.4.2) for 5 days with zero freezes so far.. note that this is on D800, not 802.

Yes, stock cm kernel.
I'm thinking back now and it did freeze once when first signing into the Google account immediately after flashing the ROM, but nothing after that. So.. nearly spotless
Nice! Maybe they are getting the issues ironed out. Haven't been on cm11 for a week or so since it was the worst with freezes for me. I'll have to give it another shot.

Best of luck! To be specific, I'm using the snapshot release of cm11... still don't trust the nightly releases
i did a lg flash tool stock restore, factory reset and OTA updates. now the freezes did not come back until now *knock on wood*.
when i did a backup of the sd there was one corrupt media file which was not able to transfer.
maybe the media scanner did go crazy and was the reason for the freezes.
using cm11 m3 on my d802... very little freezes compared to previous nightlies, fingers crossed

Hello,
I have installed the android 6 to my p8 lite dual sim phone. C432b574 - I got the OTA update recently but it didn't update, and others told me to update manually, so I did.
I updated from b170.
The problem is the battery started heating up like never before with normal usage. Besides that when I checked the consumption levels it showed that hardware used 95-99% and softwares used the remaining. It is unnatural because I use the phone like I used to use with lollipop. I had been using it for 2 weeks now.
I tried wiping cache partition, updated all of the apps and someone told me the google services may screw up with the new system so I deleted those too, the problem still on.
Should I take it to the repair shop for a battery exchange? Maybe mine is faulty?
Regards, Ghostmuffin - thanks in advancew
I've also had those problems, the high hardware consumption is probably a first time error. For me, the one's causing havoc are the Google Play Services, actually you didn't remove anything, you can't remove them without basically turning your phone useless. Time to consider a deodexed ROM and using amplify (requires Xposed)

I could remove the updates.
And you installed deodexed update or how did you manage to solve it then?
I'll wait for other replies before rooting the phone.
I have never rooted a phone before, one thing is not clear for me, can I install a custom android 6 while it is currently on the phone or should I downgrade it first? The other question is, does it wipe my data?

Well I worry because with the heating up the battery life is reduced. And I wonder if it can be solved because in general the marshmallow is much better than lollipop

Well my device also heats up when playing heavy games like gta san andreas, modern strike, asphalt 8 etc.... I think this is due to octa core processor. Which generates more heat as compare to quad core. I haven't used any octa core devices other than this so might be wrong.

Removing updates fixes nothing, as it seems to be a problem with Marshmallow itself, and yes, I downloaded a custom ROM, it's not a very advanced procedure but you should be careful. You should install it over the current ones, making wipes with a custom recovery, and yes, it will wipe your data, however you can back it up from recovery.

From my own experience, it seems like it's a wakelock problem. And using Xposed on a stock Rom broke calls, so that's why I was suggesting it

Yes, but they're much more customizable, as I said, if it's a wakelock problem, Amplify will solve it. I recommend Sokoban's ROMS and Nautilus

Well, I give it a try, I can return to stock lollipop if it doesn't help after all. I don't think a battery extender will solve the problem, though.

My s8 is super super disappointing! After trying 3 different roms I've gotten the same result.... Without a Sim, SD card, newly flashed rom without any accounts or apps battery stays up for around 10 hours. I've noticed that the cell signal (broadcast) has been draining the most so I put it in airplane mode to see if it's the problem... I did help but just by Abit, in 6 hours it drained 35% without touching the phone. I downloaded gsam battery monitor waited overnight and I noticed that Android os and the kernel are the most things that have been draining my battery. What can I do to help this?

Well I tried to flash a new kernel and my phone got stuck on the s8 splash screen.... So I flashed the king rom with the king kernel, didn't install any app or sign in to anything, did a battery calibration kept WiFi on without aod and without a Sim overnight. From 100 to 85% is that good enough or still something odd?

definitely not normal, flash stock ROM from Sammobile, and run it for a few days to check, then try custom ROM again, I took the plunge a few days ago and rooted my S8 (after being stock for 2 months), I'm running Batman ROM and have no issues with battery life at all so far, I'm getting 50+ hours between charges and about 6 hrs SoT which I'm happy with.

@Jostian Well I tried to flash stock firmware, all went well, Odin gave me the green light but the phone kept on rebooting straight to recovery. Did a factory reset in stock recovery and still didn't help, so I tried to flash a different firmware (because i thought the first one could be corrupted) flashed it and still the same thing and noticed I ran into a "software brick" (dm-verity error code 0x02) which I couldn't find any solution for it anywhere on the net except for returning it to Samsung..... So I flashed the factory binary, booted in it then flashed twrp through Odin then restored my full twrp backup, booted it up to my restored ROM then flashed again the same firmware I originally had downloaded the first time and again it rebooted only to stock recovery but this time when I did a factory reset it booted up!! Yay!! Anyways it took me all night (6hours) only slept 3 hours and went to work without the phone. I kept WiFi on no aod no sim no accounts and no apps and in 8 hours it went down only 2% which I think is super normal now! Now my question is should I flash a new rom like Batman etc?
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I rooted and flashed BatStock ROM this week, and am loving it, will go over to BatMan ROM after they have the Oreo update, for now the Nougat BatStock is brilliant as is their BatStock kernel, I was happy with Stock (unrooted) but gave in to the ability to 'play' more with the S8 if its rooted. and am very chuffed, battery life and responsiveness is indeed perceptibly better with BatStock ROM 1.6 (final release).
