[Q] How to make phone take more intensity. - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
my phone is charging with only max 1A, when my charger gives more power. How to remove limit in my phone to get more intensity?

I don't think it is possible. The charging circuit within the phone only lets 1 amp in.

Fast Charge is a hardware limit too?

I am not really sure but it can be managed in the kernel if the hardware supports and fast charging is not supported by this phone. Btw Im not 100% sure

I believe the feature has to be in the SoC, as well as implemented in the kernel for it to work. I know with the Redmi Note 3 quick charging was not supported in the original firmware, but since the Snapdragon 650 supported QC 2, custom kernels were able to use it. The Snapdragon 410 doesn't have quick charge capability to my knowledge.
EDIT
It appears the 410 does support quick charging, and the OEM has to support it. Wether that means A software or hardware implementation, I'm not sure. So maybe it is possible for a custom kernel to implement the feature. But there is not any kernel I know of right now that allows it

Fast Charge Kernel

Hey guys.
I was wondering if their is a kernel that support USB Fast Charging.
I have a Pioneer AppRadio which connects via MHL to mirror my phone to the radio in the car.
The phone loses a great amount of battery through this even though the MHL is powered.
However the phone sees the MHL as a USB charging device and therefore limits charging to 500ma which sucks.
Other phones have kernel support for USB fast charging and they can charge at the rate of 1000ma - 2000ma so that they can charge the phone and use MHL.
Someone please help me solve this problem.

Their is not.
SpeedMod charges faster than the stock kernel.
Actually NX kernel supports that.
I do not beleive it supports mhl though.
And its for cm 10.1

Not sure if there was fast charge in NX tweaks app. Just to control the current..
It is possible to charge faster, but I prever not too, It produces more heat and can damage your device.
NX-Kernel by Neo allows you to do that.
I think this only works with the 230V/115V charger, computers can't charge faster than 500mA, USB 2.0 doesn't allow you to charge with a higher current.

Note is doomed from the very beginning...
So let's make this very clear. The Galaxy Note can (and will) use more power than it can ever draw from the charger ?
Doesn't the official charger somehow trick the device into using the full 1 Amp of current instead of the half amp ?

I've searched and google searched. Can't find any discussions or current kernels supporting quick charge 2.0. I just received my s5 yesterday and assumed someone would have figured out how to enable our qualcom chip for quick charging... Am I missing something or is this not possible?

Maybe I need to clarify... I understand the S5 isn't quick charge capable out of the box for some reason, but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip is supposed to be capable(quotes below). If we're rooted and are able to use modified/custom kernels, is there some reason we haven't enabled quick charge? I saw one kernel that is supposedly dead which had supported "fast charging". I found only one other kernel, which listed nothing about fast charging or quick charging. I've already read all of those google search links which are old and have some reference for the ability(below quote). According to another post on XDA, a Japanese carrier has enabled it...

But is QC2 really that much faster than USB 3.0 charging? Doesn't seem so, so maybe it's just not worth it for developers, if it's actually capable...

QC 2.0 is supposed to charge a 3300mA battery 0% to 60% in 30mins... I haven't tested USB 3.0 charge times since I received yesterday, but I'm guessing it's not as fast. What's your round about charge time?
I'll test charge time with OEM cable to USB 3.0 on my computer and using the OEM cable and wall charger and see what I get.

with USB3.0, my S5 charges at about the speed advertised for QC2. It's a wash man, just let it go...

Quick Charge 3.0?

Hello,,
Some users posted information that the new galaxy phones will not support the Quick Charge 3.0 but only 2.0 :crying:
I contacted Qualcomm and Samsung and they both weren't able to provide me whether a conformation or denial about it.
So what do you think for those who like this feature? Will the new phones support it or not? because to me a phone with 3600mah should really have the Quick Charge 3.0.
the manual on page 12 says 2.0
Qualcomm s820 soc supports quick charge 3.0. Is it possible they have not activated that feature? Sure I geuss. Also they are offering more than one soc depending on your location. So the s820 won't be the chip for everyone.
I am only going by what the manual says. If Samsung put that in the manual then that's what it is unless they made a mistake with it, and then they should be able to clarify

It could be something that they will update or something in the kernel that can be modified by developers. I'm saying that the processor supports it. So it if they truly are only using version 2.0 it will most likely be enabled to 3.0 in the future.
If it does great. If it doesn't oh well.
There is a big chance that the new upcoming phones will support the QC 3.0 through an update.. the HTC A9 has a micro usb port and didn't support QC 3.0 until they release an update for it so I really hope Sammy will do that too for both of new phones!

So it doesn't have QC3.0 and it doesn't sound like Samsung is committed to enabling it. Is it on the table for custom Roms? I know the processor supports it but does the rest of the hardware? I just got my aukey QC3.0 wall charger in the mail and even though it's QC2.0 backwards compatible, it'd be nice to put it to use.

It's odd, most of the documentation of QC3.0 focuses on more efficiency, but they don't make any direct comparisons of speed. In fact, one article even clarified that QC3.0 has the same max power as QC2.0 and the same target power flow and what it added was fine grained control over voltage and that it may help the speed of charging on lower voltage devices. So, it's a mixed message as to how much benefit it might provide a cell phone, the 0-83% figure I've seen quoted is often "a device went from ..." meaning they could have chosen the device that was least suited to QC2 for their benchmark and that device would be the one that would benefit most from QC3.0. But, in the end, maybe QC3 really didn't offer much real-world charging performance for the S7? Still, the greater efficiency due to having better control over voltage might have been a nice change even if the total speed wasn't that much better.

That is because QC3 doesn't improve the speed of charging at all. The only thing it does is make it more efficient.

Despite what I said in my previous post, which was mostly speculation based on the loose wording I'd seen in a number of documents from Qualcomm, there are still a number of articles that claim it is faster due to its efficiency, but not by a wide margin. For instance:

If you listen to the video in the Android Police link they only ever compare charging speed to QC1 and conventional charging and the 38% claim vs QC2 is of efficiency. For example, from their press release:

But, their video clearly shows that it is actually faster than QC2, it's just not 27% faster as claimed in the Android Police headline. Perhaps it might be 27% faster to 100% since the voltage step downs happen primarily at the tail end of the charge cycle and so the fine-grained voltage control will smooth that final charge level quite a bit. But getting a quick boost charge is not going to run into that since it can mainly happen at the maximum power where the existing fixed power levels of QC2 are close enough to optimal.
So maybe the video race shows what happens in real life when you aren't trying to get to 100%?

Our battery only receives 5V/1A.
You need a 1.5 Ampere Quick Charge enabled charger to use that feature.
Xiaomi ships two kinds of chargers with the Redmi 2 ( based on region) : one is a 1.5A QC2. 0 charger and one is a 1.0A QC charger.
If you're looking to buy one, I'd recommend Microsoft Fast Charger
It can be enabled through kernel modifications.
As Redmi Note 3 has got the feature through Franco kernel.

Does Redmi 3s support Quick Charge?

The Xiaomi India website doesn't mentions that it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge but there are some people who are saying that it supports Q.C. 1.0/2.0 and some even saying that it supports 3.0.
And the Xiaomi website states that “[it] Comes with 5V/2A quick charging to charge and go with minimal downtime.”. Interestingly enough, Quick Charge 1.0 also charges at 5V/2A.
Has anyone tried charging with Qualcomm Certified chargers and is there any long term issue like battery inflating, poor battery backup, etc?
And if it does work then what are the things I should be looking in a charger when buying apart from Qualcomm certified chargers?
The soc of our device does support quick charge, but to enable it, we need a suitable kernel
I think it's enabled on MIUI developer rom.

Yes. Some say that latest beta update miui 8.2.5 has total charging period of 2.5hr.
As per the super moderator in MIUI forum the Dev rom supports QC 2.0 and charging time is less than 2 Hrs.
