With flashfire you can backup and restore modem partitions, they are stored by default in l4z format.
I've got my own for MM and N, my device is XT1642 if anyone want's them I can share.

i have 1643, i doubt it'll be the same!
since nougat doesn't seem to support 2g (there's no option in the settings for it) i was wondering if i can flash the MM one to N.. will that work? any idea?

Even if you did I don't think it would make any difference.
If you're in stock N I recommend you stay with N modem, flashing MM modem won't help.
Open a separate question for the 2g issue in the questions & answers section, maybe someone has been able to solve it and can point you out in the right direction.

Hey . I'm trying to update the modem & bootloader for my phone. However, I don't know where the modem is. I have 3 files. I suspect the BL_N9005XXUGBPB2_BOOTLOADER.tar goes into BL?
And then AP_N9005XXUGBPB2_RECOVERY.tar and AP_N9005XXUGBPB2_KERNEL.tar.md5 go into AP? Is one of these the modem driver?
In what order should I do this? Especially the 2 AP files... I'm confused about those .
I would like to also mention that my device is currently rooted, uses TWRP. I want to update to a newer TWRP and then from Android 4.4 to Android 5. I suspect that flashing a new recovery and a new kernel will mean that I also have to do that once I've updated my device's modem.
Thank you in advance!
If you download a stock ROM from Sam mobile.com, unzip it to get a tar.md5 file which is flashed in the PDA slot of Odin 3.07. This method takes the guess work out of trying to figure out what goes where.
Uh, I don't really get it. I don't have a stock ROM nor do I want one. I want to install latest modem / bootloader so then I can install an Android 5 ROM.
The recovery and kernel is stock ones so don't need it. But still you have to find a modem. There is a thread in general section.

Care to link? . There are very many threads about modems in the search result. Becomes very difficult to find what you're looking for sometimes

I do love it when you guys make it difficult for me . Really, I do. I mean, you'd do ANYTHING to NOT post a link . I'm honestly not being sarcastic. But I am amused nevertheless. I did search but I will repeat: there is SO much information that I can't be sure WHAT is correct. I've already been here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/direct-download-bootloaders-modems-t3258803
That's why I even started this topic.
I hope somebody will have the mercy to REALLY read what I ask and come up with a good answer, not vaguely-interested pointers into some vague direction.
I appreciate the time spent here by anybody, I've donated to this community and will gladly continue to do so! You guys rock. And I do appreciate even the vaguely-interested replies .
Yes this is it.

No worries bro.
You don't need to bother about these two files. Because, none of these is of your use. You are going to try a different ROM from the stock. Hence, you don't need to install Stock Kernel and Recovery. You need custom kernel which either comes with the ROM or you have to adopt a different one according to your need. As you have rooted your phone, you just need to install TWRP Manager from Play store to update your recovery, give it root access and install 2.8.7.0 recovery which is totally reliable at this point. I think it is explanatory enough

Hi there.
Is anyone here using TWRP 3.x? I'm still on 2.x, since I read of lots of problems with newer versions of the recovery on this device, but I'd like to upgrade now. Can anyone give me some feedback?
Thanks in advance
It works but as with multiple posts not with Aroma.

I see no reason to update if u have no issue on 2.x. sometimes upgrade is just a no go.

Try it.. It totally a new design You can revert back, if you don't like it.. By flashing the image through the new twrp itself.

If you're trying to downgrade, it means that you've flashed TWRP.
If you've flashed TWRP, it means that you already know how to flash a custom recovery.
If you already know how to flash a custom recovery, then this is EXACTLY the same thing. Just pick an older version of TWRP and flash it the exact same way you would flash any version of TWRP.
And if you don't even know how to do that, google is your friend.

Issue with your network coverage appeared before or after you flashed the provided aboot? You should know that we JUST made that work (literally less than two hours), you can't expect no issues.
You should probably wait till we have a working TWRP recovery so you'll be able to flash a dual sim rom, but if you're still willing to try you might as well provide more information

Then maybe flashing the modem from a stock LP h422 rom would solve that issue, since secure boot is disabled by the patched aboot it shouldn't be a problem
-I think-, actually I can't tell for sure if the modem.bin is all you need

You need to follow the procedure detailed by fobos in the general thread to found the aboot block but instead of looking for the aboot you should write down the modem and radio ones.
Once you did that get a h422 rom, google and download "WindowsLGFirmwareExtract", extract the DZ file, then extract the modem.bin from that DZ and flash the same way we did with aboot but with the modem block (and maybe the radio one but IDK how is called honestly, you have to figure out by yourself)

@mayankjet, did you still with problems with your device?
I have a brazilian dual-sim version (H442f). I only could get phone and 3G/4G coverage after adding this line to build.prop and rebooting the phone (additional_build_properties section, close to line 200):
Code:
#
# ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES
#
[COLOR="Red"][B]persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds[/B][/COLOR]
I copied this from the build.prop from the build.prop of lollipop version. By luck, it worked.
Don't try to use older versions of modem.img, since it can lead to muting the sounds (music). How do I know? Been there, done that

Yes, the problem still persist. That's why I'm on lollipop, will try your fix hoping it will work.
I did a full wipe and loaded stock recovery, ATHENE_MPJ24.139-23.2_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC, before unlocking, rooting and installing custom rom.
I installed RR-N-v5.8.3-20170523-athene-Official.zip and everything was looking fantastic, until I realised my modem baseband was at 32r, when it should be 62r.
reception is non-existent.
Looking for a way to flash just the modem firmware, but haven't found any mention of it being done. Can't even locate a modem zip file to flash.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
