Slow view photosphere... - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, im on pure nexus android 7.1.1 and when i try to open a photosphere it takes ages to load the photo. It seemed strange, does anyone have the same problem when loading photospheres? Thanks!
https://youtu.be/3giezc6bRo4

Is the picture still located on your phone or only cloud? If the image is loading from your phone, then I'd say you have an issue. Otherwise it looks like a slow internet connection.

Mmm its Located on the phone, i took it and then open it.

Same Problem Here
Hy!
I have the same problem with my Nexus 6p. It already worked fine some time ago though. Some update must have broken it...
Here is a video showing the issue in comparison to an old Nexus 5: watch?v=bBxubmO6hbo
The image in the video is an equirectangular panorama with 22258 x 11129 pixels and 81 MB stored locally on the phone.

You didn't quote the OP, so he won't be notified of this thread being updated. I'd suggest either quoting him directly or PM to see if he came up with a solution.

Hi! nop, no solution, but I’ve been using different roms and the problem is still there. Lowering Panorama Quality in camera options solves the problem.
It becomes faster. But it’s weird that a phone with this specifications has to struggle to see panorama pictures.
Good luck mate!
Roms Used: stock nougat, pure nexus, beta 7.1.2 and currently android O . in every one of them it lags the same way.

hi I have the exact same issue on a freshly installed 7.1.2 (N2G47O) nexus 6p.
Is there a solution for this?
Can it be related to an hardware defect?

Same here on any device since I believe Nougat. I should file an Android bug...

Pictures upload orientation issue

I tried to upload on Facebook a picture taken with my Nexus S but it seems that, when uploaded it has the wrong orientation (always horizontal, even if the pictutre has been taken vertically). Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Anyway to fix it?

There have been a couple threads on this including one i made, as of now there is no way to fix it. before you say the NS is a peice of crap, all SGS phones do it.
If you hold the phone in portrait mode and hit the menu button the menu comes up in landscape mode. the SGS phones only like it sideways
I'm glad im not the only one. Apparently this isnt just with FB but with any form of picture transfer when taken in portrait?
I hope theres a fix for this, I love this phone but that's annoying!

Oh hell I thought it was a simple Nexus S issue but you guys say it happens on all Galaxy S phones
Well I hope that Google can at least correct it on the Nexus S with an update since it seems after 6 months Samsung hasn't. This is the one thing that is bugging the **** out of me with this phone.

Random crashes after using Camera

Not sure if you guys have experienced this before as I didn't see any thread discussing it.
But this happened to me 3 times, after using the camera in low light and moving to gallery to preview the picture, Nexus 4 halts and reboots.
Not sure if this is related, but I can also hear the lens moving.
This happened on stock Rom and Kernel
And yesterday it happened again on Franco Kernel r34 and CM10
Attached is the kernel log, any recommendation?
Thanks,
Dani

Good to know I'm not the only one.
Did you capture the kernel log? I am intrested to see if the stack trace/exception are the same.
I hope it's not a hardware issue.
unfortunately no (i have no idea how you do that) but after some thinking im gonna assume it is software related
i mean it was just like you described moving between gallery and camera back and forth suddenly the device got stuck and had to rebooted i mean if it was hardware related why didnt it reboot or turn off immediately

I found another two people running into the exact same issue, their kernel crash log is identical to mine.

this should have been happening more frequent but not everyone is reporting it, or maybe we are the lucky ones...

[Q] Nexus 4 Camera Bug after 4.4.2

I own a Nexus 4 and its unrooted. After updating to 4.4.2 I am encountering a weird bug.
When I take a few pics from the default camera app, the phone gives off some *ZIGG ZIGG* sound and I can feel a bit of vibration too and reboots.
So what is the issue here? Anyone else facing a similar problem?

The camera focus/lens or whatever... does this, if you don't touch the focus thing which moves across the screen it works fine. However manually setting the focus seems to be causing the trouble.
So its a FW bug and I guess we are stuck with till the next update from google.

camera on my Nexus 6P not focusing - pictures coming out blurry

Hello, I purchased a Nexus 6P off of eBay and the camera is having trouble focusing - all my photos come out blurry. I have another Nexus 6P that's still on Android 6.0 and the camera works flawlessly, every picture seems to come out sharp and in focus. This Nexus 6P I bought off of eBay is on Android 8.01.
The camera on my Android 6.0 Nexus 6P is version 3.2.045.
The camera on my Android 8.1 Nexus 6P is version 5.1.018.17740874.
What do you guys suggest I do?
Thanks.
@elkbath Camera still the same for me since day one. Maybe your glass is dirty or try a factory reset. Try a different camera app. I've had updates that have messed up the camera on other phones and a reset usually clears them up. Just make sure to do a Google sync or manually back up everything.

thanks for the quick reply. I tried factory resetting it to no avail. I've also tried the NX Camera, Open Camera app, and FxCamera app and they all seem to have the same problem with focusing.
I took some comparison photos to show exactly what I mean but it's saying I need at least 10 posts in order to share links so I'm going to come back to this after I post more.
question: how can I get my Nexus 6P that's running Android 8.0 downgraded to match the same Android 6.0 my original Nexus 6P is running? I'm assuming I need to root, correct?
after asking the eBay seller if he had experienced any problems with the camera, he was kind enough to send me this:
"No, I did not have any issues with this phone or camera. I swapped phones when I went to another provider. It has been sitting in the closet for a few months though and I did not look at the camera before selling since it was not a problem before when I was using it. If you are still having issues please let me know. I can refund you if you mail everything back and I will take a look and swap the camera if needed or I can just discount the purchase price since there is an issue."
what do you guys suggest I should do?
Look inside of the camera lens and see if there is moisture.

Well no, I think he ment to look closely at the camera lens to see if its clear or foggy(moist).

oh alright got it.
to be fair, the camera on my eBay Nexus 6P isn't that bad, just compared to my original Nexus 6P it seems to be a lot less detailed and a lot harder to get in focus. If I try hard enough and take 2 or 3 photos, I can get pictures that are in focus. Could this be a software issue? I notice there's a difference in the way the HDR+ looks as well.
I'm using the latest update for nexus 6p. My photos look crisp and clear. Try to flash the latest image from google for your device.

You flash it via adb in recovery adb sideload filename.zip or if your do the oem unlock and allow flashing, you can use the flash all executable straight from fastboot.

GCam 7, so I stumbled upon a thing SNAPDRAGON verified

This is the GCAM from Pixel 4/4XL/4a ?
Well on my crusades of random youtube videos tonight custom of the pawn of video talking about g cam 7 and Astro photography. I don't know if anyone else would be interested in a newer g cam APK but I found one of the newest Google camera that works on our devices. My only suggestion to get rid of some green tint this to go into settings and change your viewfinder to the one beginning with YUV. Link posted to save y'all the trouble of going through the pop up process.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Download the first one. 7.2.010 it's by Xenius9
Also in advanced settings is where to turn on Astro photography. All modes seem to work, what I've listed is tweaks I've done. Hopefully I've helped someone upgrade their GCam because Lord knows I love to stay in top of things with what's probably the best camera app on Android ??? cheers. Any questions you have let's work it out together and he'll each other folks.
Update: I've discovered that this set up actually gives me the best images. No discoloration blotches or anything. They've all come out crisp, great toned and all.
This only works on pixel devices...what about rooted android(samsung) handsets!?

After a bunch of tests I find that the stock camera is much better than this port. I don't see the need for the scam with this phone. But it does work well so I guess there's that

I'm using the one above and noticed every night shot is ungodly noisy. I don't remember older versions being this bad so it's probably a setting I'm missing or something, but it's unusable and I saw ISOs of 5000+.

Im using this version also (N9600). I have tested a couple gcam versions and this seems to be the best one yet.
16:9 is not working (not a big deal for me)
Astrophotography takes a regular Night Sight picture. (i really hope they fix this since I LOVE this feature)

Have there been any updates since this post?
I went here to track what updates have appeared: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-urnyx05/#apk1625
Downloaded this release which was published on June 20 2020 https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v2.0.apk
It seems to work just fine. I have some use cases where I've been missing my Pixel .
One thing I do find annoying about this gcam is that motion photos are on by default, both versions I've installed have been in that mode and I had to disable it.
