Downgrade to 4.3 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there.
Can I install Omega V17(Android 4.3) in my device running Resurrection Remix Android 6.0.
I like Android 4.3 more then 5.0 thtz why I am thinking to downgrade. I'm not gonna use Odin for this purpose because of some restrictions. It's kinda downgrade, so, would it be safe to do using TWRP?

it's fine as long as u backup your EFS folder and flash a lollipop modem directly after flashing that rom

Help Please re: flashing 4.4.2 on note 3

Hi Guys, I am fairly new to flashing and rooting. Have successfully done on my Galaxy S5 and now trying on my Note 3 - N9005. I tried flashing a latest 4.4 rom - Echoe rom and it got stuck in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Logo. Now i have flashed stock rom (Australian Vodafone) running 4.3. My question is since i am trying to flash a 4.4.2 rom, do i need to do anything specific or just flash TWRP and install a custom rom? i noticed there were 2 versions of TWRP one ofr 4.3 and one for 4.4. I am confused as to since i am on 4.3 version do I flash TWRP 4.3 version? or since i am looking to flash 4.4 rom should i install TWRP 4.4 at first place?

you need 4.4 twrp. It should be 2.7.1 I think. you also need to me sure the Rom is compatible with your phone.

During my first try, i had TWRP for 4.3, which allowed me to flash Echoe Rom based on 4.4 (latest version) for N9005, it even showed me success notification but it never booted past Samsung logo. I then flashed TWRP 4.4 version, but it then wouldn't boot in recovery. i reflashed TWRP 4.3 version and as last resort i had to flash stock firmware.
I will now flash TWRP 4.4 version at first instance and try flashing a rom again. maybe will try a different rom. Thanks for your suggestion :good:

hello there.
u were sayin u r on 4.3 JB rom.
ur device is N9005 international 32gb right?
let me tell u 1 thing which is a good thing to remember.
4.4 rom will need a 4.4 bootloader.
since u r on 4.3, u must be on 4.3 bootloader which is incompatible with 4.4 rom. flashing twrp for kitkat won't help.
steps that u need to take (easiest) :
1. download 4.4.2 stock firmware.
2. flash with odin v3.09
3. root with cf autoroot (download the KK version)
3. flash custom recovery for KK version (twrp/cwm/ philz). I personally prefer cwm as it has give me less trouble for any custom rom.
4. u can flash any 4.4.2 custom rom now.

THANK YOU!!! This makes lot of sense.:good: I will upgrade to KK first, then custom recovery and then rom. One question? 4.4 is not yet available for my carrier in Australia. can I download and install the Poland version that is floating around internet. Or would you recommend some other.

Hello,
Yes it is possible to downgrade from an official Molitor to an official kitkat (the latest).
I do it, when the flash is end and the mobile show the logo Samsung
You can put out the battery, reboot to the recovery and wipe all user data.
Before do that save all your data.
It's an official administrator from Samsung who say me do so.
Hope that can help you.

Isn't the bootloader required to flash the ROM?
I'm very afraid of trying stock lollipop. I was on Temasek's CM12 build but I had abysmal batterylife. This was probably not attributed to Temasek's build but rather to CM12 as a whole, so I went back to my nandroid containing Crash Rom V19 on kitkat 4.4.2 and I literally have less than 1% drain per hour with the phone idle. I love this batterylife, and I feel I'd like to try and see if stock lollipop TW will give me the same but I would like the option to go back to kitkat if it's worse. I like lollipop a lot but the promise of batterylife seems to hit and miss, makes me stay on kitkat.
I know Crash Rom has a lollipop version, but beside this, which ROM is the MOST stock with the least amount of modifications?

[Help] Install twrp in Galaxy s5 sm-g900v 6.0.1

Hey there I just got a new samsung galaxy s5, and I have been searching on the internet since yesterday, and haven't been able to find a thread that gives me information about installing custom recovery or installing a rom based in stock without any bloatware.
My phone is the samsung galaxy s5 sm-g900v (not rooted, i haven't been able to do it, maybe it's not posible yet )
android 6.0.1
kernel version 3.4.0
So my questions are:
Can I flash the twrp.tar file with odin?
Is there anyway to install a rom based in the stock of samsung but without bloatware?
And finally, can I root android 6.0.1 in my verizon s5?
Thanks in advance
you have alot to learn my friend.. if you are on 6.0.1 i dont think you can downgrade. you need to be on a 5.0 and then root then if you have a samsung board you can unlock the boot loader to install TWRP if its a toshiba you cant..

I just got the s5, but i get rid of it,im back on my old lg g2, seems it was imposible to install a clean rom on that device.
6.0.1 is downgradable. If you had a 15 chip then you could get TWRP. Even if you had an 11 chip you could still flash a debloated rom on Lolipop.

I've searched but I'm lost on where and how to downgrade 6.01? Is it just flashing over a 5.0 ? or is there more to it because it's new? And where can you find a guide for rooting 6.01 or downgrading it and then rooting?

I already gave the phone to my gf, but what would happen if I try to flash a stock based debloated rom with my pc? I mean flashing the debloated version of 6.0.1?

Flash a G900V 5.0 Lollipop Odin TAR. If you have a CID 11 chip then you can either:
- Downgrade to lollipop and stay rooted their.
- Stay / upgrade to marshmallow but not have root.

you can downgrade from marshmellow to lolipop however you cannot downgrade to kitkat due to the fact that the bootloader is different
I advise you DO NOT make move to unlock bootloader on locked device.Like install 900f roms 900f kernels. Because i tried this **** and my s5 is turned to trash. Do not try belive me.

Why are you advising those with a locked bootloader not to unlock it? If you have the right emmc, there are like 4 different methods to do it. It's simple!

Note 3 SM-N9005 upgrade from stock 4.3 to n7 6.0.1

Hi i wanted to know the upgrade process from stock 4.3 to 6.0.1 I have root and custom recovery.
Can someone tell me which files I will be needing and if i need a bootloader upgrade? Is it going to android 4.4.4 then 5.0 then 6.0? Many thanks.

Do you mean a custom rom ??As their is no 6 from Samsung .
If so then you read that roms instructions first .
Back up your EFS .
Yes I would like to upgrade the rom to custom rom. I have read the instructions for that rom N7 rom and it says to place it in your phone and flash it basically but I wouldn't think thats possible without flashing android 4.4.4 then 5.0 and 6.0? Can anyone that has upgraded explain how they have gone about doing this?

You can flash Android 5 stock for your phone .
But 6 does not exist for Note 3 .
Since android 6.0 is a custom rom, it must be flashed with twrp which is a custom recovery. I recommend installing the latest bootloader and modem to the phone before flashing a custom rom.

Can I upgrade to custom ROM with stock j500f Android 5.1.1

Hi I have a stock j500F I put TWRP on it. And it has android 5.1.1
I tried flashing 6.0.1 because it's a requirement for the good custom ROM's. But it failed.
I've also read warnings not to upgrade to 6.0.1 because you can't go back. Why would you want to go back?
