Curious if it's at all possible to port copperhead over to the s7 edge? Or at least parts over any thoughts? Would love to give a run at it.
Yes it is. Will look into later when the source gets more stable. For now I'm building CM14.1.
Thats awesom by chance For the snapdragon? I have a 935A running the echo rom bout to flash back to the 935U
Successful?
Has anyone been successful in doing this? Were you ever able to look into it ProtoDeVNan0?

I changed my s4 i9505 over to f2fs to flash lollipop, but I have no idea why f2fs differs, or what the benefits are. Is it supposed to be faster?
I'm using Antaresone's unofficial cm12, and its lightning fast, and I've not unearthed any bugs, and a couple of bugs that have been mentioned don't exist on my install, so I'm a happy guy. Loving lollipop, definitely the best version of android that I've ever used, and I've flashed a huge amount of ROMs on different Samsung Galaxy series phones. Android definitely heading in the right direction I think.
But yeah, f2fs... Anyone know anything about it?
For anyone interested, or wondering whether to change over or not, I found this thread.

In my opinion, XtreStoLite is THE BEST available rom for G900F. But i really have no ideea what is happening... I know that, at some point, EdgarF retired , but i knew that somebody else was trying to revive the evolution of the rom. Can anybody please, bring some light in this enigma???
Can someone elaborate on this? I am very interested, too...
I'm pretty sure it's dead; the end of the thread shows a mod trying to contact Edgar before locking the thread. He's been busy with an S6 and ignoring anything coming from the S5.
There's a variant update for the 900H (exynos), but nothing left for the international version.
I'm using a stock 5.1.1 (G900W8) rom debloated using the URWSoft Barebone Cleaner (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/mod-urwsoft-barebone-cleaner-t3043479). He built that specifically to give any rom an xtrestolite feel. It's not quite as super light as Edgar's was, but at least he's still developing and not just abandoning his projects.
I think the reason the rom was closed was because there was a major problem where the rom would enable reactivation lock by default and it would potentially brick peoples phones.
hello,
I have seen a topic here before about AOSP based ROM for S8(Exynos), but still can't find any after all that time.
So i was wondering if anyone or any team is working on it? or anyone want to?
I really like AOSP and if i know that no one working on it, maybe i'll teach myself and do it.

Can anyone guide me through installing a solid rom from the beginning? The last pie update was great but doesn't seem up to par any more and I'd like to enjoy my phone to its fullest.
I've searched and links no longer work and I've read through hundreds of posts without finding new ones.
My impression is CYANOGENMOD ROMS would work for me.
I also use google apps which hopefully can still be installed and used.

Assuming that your s8 active is snapdragon? If so. you're unlucky. There are no custom roms for snapdragon variant. However if you have an exynos version there are many custom roms for it. Cyanogenmod roms were renamed to lineage os. So I think the roms you are looking for is lineage os

Any thoughts about using the s8 active now? It seems safe enough but I don't really know :/

Well s8 is quite a phone in 2022, if you're bored of it, you can try rooting it and customizing it
So it is possible to root it and then flash a customized rom?
Will a customized rom be faster or more secure than 9.0?

You can root it, however a room cannot be flashed, it has to be built for a specific device. Customized ROM offer more security than normal roms they can also offer an increase in Performance, since they keep up with android patches.
Thank you again for your insight and help with this
I was looking at a thread that seems to offer a custom rom for the s8 active.
