At the moment i didn't faced ram problems yet, usually with nothing working, i had 2GB of ram free when i was on Marshmallow. After the Nougat update and various optimization settings, things are even better; my free ram is always on 2,25GB until i launch something
ram management is better than i expected, im impressed actually
Do you guys take money or gift from Huawei? In all this real life threads there are the same guys talking about how great is this phone. That is not so great.

No, dood, i (like others) don't get money or either gifts as a reward just for doing something that thread itself suggests, reason for i invite you to read better OP. Let's say that I've felt more than free to express my opinion about the thread object, like other users that owns this phone i suppose, since that I'm enjoying this phone especially for how much i payed it, giving me highly performances with no need to spend like a flagship or something similar, i'd NEVER buy a phone that costs more than 200€. Let me understand so; you have something wrong about this phone that doesn't let ya enjoy it, and so seeing people happy with it simply discussing about various aspects and capabilities of the phone bore ya, or let you even think that Huawei could have hired people to promote their phones on XDA?
Remember that if there was something wrong talking about a phone in this manner, a moderator would already told us something since that it's surely a moderator responsibility to do that... Relax guy, enjoy something too!
In the last line we can see that roomco05 win a great honor coupon for his activity on this forum. Legit, but his opinion is the truth?
I think that the result of this giveaway from xda is that this phone has no active development but a lot of chit chat from people interested only in rewards. And a lot of thread are alive when no one is really involved in this phone. And this criticism is not directed to you, but in general at the sponsored direction that xda take.

What exactly u mean medium use? By the way, EMUI is really stable and have good management ram, but this is different of each user how knows use Android and EMUI

This is so disappointing... You are just insatiable. Learn how to avoid to spitting on other people's work, because this is what you're doing. Kernel sources for Honor 6X has been released less than a month ago, the OpenKirin team of developers posted 3 different custom roms almost immediately in the same week, and you are still there blabbing with sarcasm? First of all, the roms aren't just "not working", but they have some bugs related to Huawei hardware components that won't collaborate that easy with third party OS, and the point is a little bit different. Second, but not because less important, maybe you've forgot the fact that those developers are normal people that are working to these custom roms just FOR FREE, facing all the issues that you can encounter while you are trying to make an OS work correctly with phone's hardware. How can you expect perfect custom roms to came out in neither one month from the release of sources, since that there are phones with kernel sources released more than 3 years ago that still suffers other kind of bugs (like a correctly working GPS location?) Third, and last, since that after this I'd like to stop this useless discussion here; if you're that good on third party roms development... Well, why don't ya take the chance to contribute and help developers resolve those bugs? Perhaps for you it'll be easier than drink a cup of water! Or maybe you'll face the reality.
If you have read my post I speak about Huawei support to the development community, not about the developer's work. I have maximum respect for developers, but not for the Huawei philosophy. I was a day one honor 6x buyer, on January, because the phone was presented with a lot of support for development, but it was not true. Six months later we have the sources, but incomplete. A lot of bugs on stock rom, never solved. This are facts, not opinions.
3gb ram is enough for the fluidity of this baby.
Works well and no lag whatsoever till date
Multitasking is good.
Much much better than other oem
In my mi max prime only 2gb ram was free despite having 4gb ram and when opening 10 12 apps in background just 600:700mb free ram
Asus zenfone was having 700 mb free out of 3gb
But this phone have 2gb free ram all time and when using apps 10 12 in background still around 1gb always free
(emui restrict and kill some apps in background)

I didn't know that, and didn't want to know that, because I don't care about mid-range phones with small screens. If you want to ask about another phone, be that V8 or something else - post your own question as a separate thread. There is no need to hijack this thread to talk about another device, my thread was not meant for.

Honor 8 is not "flagship", from any angle you look at it. It is classified as a mid-ranger on most tech blogs out there, and rightfully so. It doesnt crack the top 10 phones in any specs category. Since Huawei Honor Note 8 forum does not exist as of the moment of writing - I think it's reasonably appropriate to post a question about it here. If moderators decide later on it does not belong - it could be moved to Honor Note 8 forum, once created.

It's not about specs, it's about price....300$ to 500$ is a mid-ranger, and any thing that exceedes 600$ is a flagship.

That is literally, the most ridiculous, outrageous and lunatic assertion I've heard anyone make on XDA in the past decade. I wouldn't even know where to begin to tell you how very very very very wrong you are!
If you don't get a meaning of "flagship device" - go read some Wikipedia or dictionary definition, I guess.
According to your logic, most real high end devices from a country like China, for example LeEco phones, which have 4-6GB RAM, latest Snapdragon chip (820 or 821), or phones from Xiaomi with similar specs, which never cost $600 or more for reasons, obvious to everyone but you, are mid-rangers? And ****ty devices with 5 year old specs, with either Georgio Armani logo on them, or made out of gold, or covered in 38 carats of diamonds, which cost anywhere from 10 grand to 150k, are flagships?!
Wow... Don't embarrass yourself in public, do some reading and self-education, learn about different economies, price inflations, developing world markets, etc. before making comments like that. Phone price has literally ZERO impact in determining, whether the device is flagship or not. It is true, that in many markets the opposite is correct - device, which is a flagship, is priced higher, than other devices from the same region. However, there is absolutely no connection/correlation whatsoever in the opposite direction - device's price does NOT have any impact on it's classification as high-end, low-end, mir-ranger or a flagship device.

And it costs half the price of other flagships, too... 5.3 million pre-orders can't be wrong - people know what they're investing in. Kirin955 chip is in the top 3 of all benchmark categories amongst all latest chips, and this is the only device in the world with 2k screen, which is bigger than 6.5". 4500mAh battery doesn't hurt either - you will find such battery size in less than a handful of devices worldwide.

Congrats, and that's an excellent question! To answer it, hopefully admins here will create a forum for this phone, where devs and users could post verified rooting method. This article offers a rooting method, but it's unverified by anyone I know or XDA, so if you wanna try it - do it at your own risk and report the results back here.
Since this is related to the phone in topic...

The differences from the one in gsmarena are the colors, front camera, and 4400mAh battery.
Also, can somebody upload somewhere photos taken by their own Huawei Honor Note 8's camera? Unmodified, straight from the camera, with EXIF please. Hopefully with variations like bright scene, dark scene, etc.
Thank you very much.
KingRoot doesn't work as not enough requests for root yet on this model.
An issue I am having if anyone can help is with Play Store. When installing a large application, PS always closes before its finished downloading. Smaller ones are fine. I've disabled the power saving options for PS etc.. Its a weird one and I don't have this problem with my other Huawei.

Hii to all Honor 8 owners
I am starting this topic couse every here and there I find in all of the threads
someone complain how the Huawei don't care and that they don't update
our phone in a good way or at least as promised.
So, the ones which are compain, they say like I paid the money for the phone
I want this or that and they are not satisfide with the phone couse it is an all around good
phone but you know, no xda support or something like it is a good value phone but
Huawei is bad and so on and so on.
Now I want this things to be discussed in this topic...
What do you think, will we get the android O update?
Why do you think Huawei is the one to be blamed?
Do you think they will not keep with the promise they gave to all Honor phones
and the 2 year software upgrade??
Are you dissapointed with this phone or just with Huawei??
Do you think you are not getting with this phone what you have paid for??
And lots of other stuff to be discussed in this topic and thread..
Now to give my opinion.
First I want to say I had a lot of smartphones
I was having from LG, Samsung, Sony and some other phones and now evan this Huawei
The first thing I notice is you guys complain in every xda thread the same and
not being real not for once for any phone
It goes like this
I will never again buy an Huawei or LG or Samsung or Sony or other phone like iPhone
I paid so much money but not getting the full software support, they just don't care about this phone
Then after like 7 days it goes like this is the worst phone I ever had.. do not buy that phone guys couse
it has an overheat issue when gaming..
It is not good for gaming at all
And so on and so on...
Well I must say that you guys always complain that you don't know how to buy your next phone
or you want it to be perfect for the money you paid.. so you are not real..
So lets be real just for once, how come evan an samsung s8+ owner after one or two weeks is
complaining about the phone?? And the usuall thing, I wont buy samsung no more!! LooOOooL
Dont you go and read about the phone what you are getting and what you will be paying for?
Dont you come over to xda to first ask for user experiance but after some time you come to
blaim some company for not giving updates like you DESIRE IT .. like every month.. regardless of
the REAL possibility to have such support??
I had so many phones wich not evan had what now the Honor 8 has.. I had phones wich had no
support not just from the manufacturer but also not on xda like couse my phone was in my region
with the bootloader locked with no possibility to unlock it ever!!
And I was stuck on what I get out of the box
So, long story short, why you guys always looking for the perfect one wich will have it all
like the best build the premium feel and the xda support and evan the support from the
manufacturer and then not getting it and come to blaim someone after like two weeks..
Can it just once be like.. I am satisfide with what I got??
My opinion you should be satisfide with the Honor 8
It has after like 10 months more then some more expansive phones
Not to evan say something about the premium feel and the build quality
So, lets discuss it now and here what you think overall of it.. not in every other topic..
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Software Update Policy for the Honor 5x and 8
Posting this first will promote a better and more productive discussion.
BTW, the last time the Honor 8 FDR-L04/L14 were up-to-date with security patches was October 2016 when Huawei released B162 firmware. December security patch was released in February and that's the latest official we've got so far. Now the still to be released B385 update will bring us just up to March's patch.
I'm starting to see a pattern here now and is not good.
Hii @Dominikrod
Thanks for the link for the update policy
And yes it is not updated that fast.. like getting the march security in the late april or start of may
But is it really something to complain so much of it like some of users do?
What I want to say this is a very good phone not just for the price but it has right now more than some phones priced this much like the samsung A5 2016/2017 phones..
And I do belive that we will get not just the android O but also the needed support for it.. my opinion is it is like only 10 months on the marked and I think that Huawei is going to at some later point give the source code and needed support.. I am thinking thay just dont wont to give it all right at the very beginig of the phone.. so I always say the best is yet to come.. or It will be for me disapointed as some of you already are..
So I am still hoping
Thanks for your reply @Dominikrod. If what is actually going on is "the best possible" from Honor, then they are really bad at that.
People will always find something to complain about, but in this case, it is something that they (Honor) promised and they are not fulfilling. Imagine unboxing your phone and notice it have an inferior processor or half the RAM as announced. May be a little exaggerated, by I feel I'm not getting all that was promised.
I got this phone expecting to use great custom roms because of the XDA-Honor collaboration, which just seem like a scam from Honor by not releasing the kernel source.

Hii @fernandoarafat
And yes if it is the best possible wich is Huawei doing right now I think
it is still good enough but thats just my opinion
But yes I do see that this promise thing you all are saying made you all disappointed
in Huawei..
But nobody is saying if they ever gave a time limit like when they will be releasing anything
to the XDA community... all I hear is no more Huawei I wont be buying anymore phones from Huawei
or the other stuff you are disaappointed..
I just have an idea... like if Huawei had talked first with someone who was in charge from the XDA community..
And some of us ( as I know some developers ) were contacting Huawei..
Why don't we ask the ''someone'' from XDA community ( who made this agreement with Huawei )
to ask for all the Huawei owners here on XDA what is going on??
I think we should ask for what is promised and ask
for some answers or some time limit when some of things will happen.
Anybody more intrested?? Or maybe did anybody already spoke to someone
and has already some info regarding this??

Don't know if you remember this one but this is almost laughable!
This was Taylor speaking about their new Software Update Policy.
Taylor Wimberly, a customer acquisition manager at Huawei Technologies (which owns Honor), has even gone so far as to challenge other manufacturers to follow Honor's example. "I hope that by announcing this policy that we can change the industry for the better. Seriously, all OEMs should be doing this and I welcome them to join us."
I just tried to contact the XDA community
But after asking the things I was.. and hitting the red SEND button
to send my message to them.. well it just was sending and sending it forever..
So, I have saved the text in my notepad and will try later to send it
Or some other day..
If I succeed and if I get an answer I will report this back to all of you

Hi brljak83,
I'm not sure a 10 month-old phone counts as new device in this market, it's more of a passing one. The truth is that Huawei started quite nicely at the beginning but everything went down hill after November of last year. If you remember this phone was announced back in July/August and Huawei made all sort of PR stunts to convince prospect buyers that their product was the best choice in the $400 to $450 range, at least here in the USA market. I went ahead and bought for myself the $450 Honor 8 64GB at the beginning of that campaign. The Oneplus 3 was $399 at that time, but I wasn't happy with the way OnePlus treated OP2 and OPX owners, so I didn't wanted to do business with them anymore even though the OP3 was an amazing device for the price. Then OnePlus 3T happened and Huawei coudn't justify the overpriced H8 pricing strategy so retailers started discounting the Honor back in November. Some people may argue that H8 was not competing with the 5.5" screen phones but if you read carefully from the beginning that was their intention all alone. Actually some reviews I read compared it mostly with the OP3 and the Axon 7 since those phones are in the same price range or were.
Now mid May 2017, the OP3/3t and the Axon 7 64GB have Android 7.1.1 since April, plus both phones have been getting more frequent security update patches than the H8. And where are we? Still stuck with Android 7.0, December's Security Patch, battery drain issues and some old bugs that have not been fixed yet.
Now you tell me if Taylor Wimberly's August comment about other manufacturers should follow their example and commitment doesn't seem totally laughable.

I didn't buy this phone because of any xda partnership. I only found out about it after. Great!
I bought it because I liked Huawei devices, and despite EMUI being a pain sometimes, it had a lot of features that I did like.
What I did not expect was the endless amount of bugs and issues.
And now, I don't mind a few, it happens. I'm even happy we got an update to 7.0, even if they should have given us 7.1.
What I don't like is going MONTHS without a dime big patch.
Not to mention, due to "low sales", they're going to be pulling out of the US, so all of us will lose all support for our devices.
So no, forget it. I'm voting with my wallet and not buying another Huawei.
And you're right, everyone does say that. But I don't buy Samsung because of their terrible software and bloat. I don't buy LGs because of their bootlooping, and now I won't buy Huawei because of their piss poor support.
It's not about finding the "perfect phone" it's about finding a company that cares at least a little bit in fixing their bugs and meeting their commitments.
Which Huawei clearly isn't doing.
Hii @SolarisSixth
Well, it is your opinion for this phone and I do respect it..
But for me I am not bothered so much by some of the bugs.. And I have them too..
And what I would say to you as an advice from my own experiance becouse I had a lots of phones
like LG or Samsung or Sony or iPhone it is always the same story
Belive me always they say bad or week support I wont buy it again..
So you will have to choose your next phone wisely not to end disappointed again in the same way..
Do a lot of reading about your next phone couse otherwise you will end up again disappointed
Why
Couse it is by all of them the same way and the same treatment
The only thing what I know is for the very most expensive phones ( Flagships ) they get a bit more
treatment and a faster treatment couse it is the best company gives to the customers and it is
the phone that represents the company as the best one they have for that year.. and then you get
a bit better support for bugs and stuff.. couse they dont want to be bad by giving the most expensive one
wich should represent the best face of the company
So if money is not an issue for you and you already choose with your wallet then go for the
most expensive one and still if you get such a phone still be happy with what you get..

However, kernel source release, which Honor tells us will happen in the near future for the Honor 8

 There is a broad definition about "near future". Also, legally they HAVE to share kernel source, but who cares about the law anyway?
I have also a Honor 7. They stop supporting roughly 1 year after release. No source code, no Nougat update. I thought they improved something, but apparently no. What a sucker!
It's up to anyone to deal in whatever manner they see fit with Huawei/Honor false promises. What is not debatable is if it's fair to demand for those promises being kept.
I'm not expecting anything besides what the brand promised. And for that I cannot be pointed as being over-demanding or wanting the impossible.
I was afraid of ZTE Axon support but apparently they lead the game, a long with OP and Sony. And given the lottery regarding quality of components Huawei P10, it's just all a big red flag not to spend a cent with the brand.
For now, I will keep the H8 and milk it as much as I can, until I see fit to change. For another brand, obviously.
So here I am to report it back to all of you
This maybe some good news afterall..maybe
It is regarding the partnership with XDA and to give the source code to us.

Well, i bought this phone at the end of March, this year. I bought it for 329€ on Amazon, and for that price at this specs i think it'a a very good phone, also considering that other similar phones costs even double this price sometimes. Afrer this i tried the phone and i just love it now. Fast, superb fingerprint sensor, good camera, good in gaming etc. The only thing i complain for is the GPU, could be better... However, talking about the software and updates, i think that we will get at least 7.1.1 (if Honor respect their promises). I'm not just talking however, i got in touch with Honor USA on Twitter and that's what they told me:
http://imgur.com/a/OSmLv Screen 1
http://imgur.com/a/RBBFb Screen 2
Ps. The first screen is from a pic that i saw on internet, related to another conversation with Honor USA (not mine). I just sent them this pic and tried to get a confirm from them...wich in the 50% maybe they gave me. Now i don't know if they will relase Android 7.1.1 with EMUI 5.1 someday, but i hope to see it. No hopes for Android O however...
What do you think?
Hii @Giuskiller
I think it will be supported
Just read the link in the post above yours..

Honor is not pulling out of the US market and this has been confirmed by them. Can u please specify from where u got the information that they r leaving the US market?
Oh and they completely ignored my second question ?
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
Well, My last phone was the N5X 16 GB and I really dont know which variant of the OP5 I should be going for. OFC the higher end one has it's benefits but considering the price is it really worth it? I plan on using the phone for atleast 2 years and I've never used any device over 32 GB memory. Personally I think the higher end model is an overkill. If any of you have used phones with storages over 64GB what are the benefits (other than the obvious ones). I plan on flashing the phone every month or so. Mostly I'll be using it as my primary device for testing. Considering VR is in the scenes do you think 8 GB will be more than necessary?
I don't think 8GB of RAM is necessary at all, but $60 for a jump to 128GB was worth it IMO, and the extra RAM was just the icing on the cake. Most companies charge a $100 premium for a storage bump alone.
Better get 8/128 GB version to be future proof.

For a sub $500 phone and an unlocked bootloader, I'm perfectly fine with them botching updates since I'm going to get the same from Samsung, Motorola, LG, etc. on their $600+ phones.

Yeah but I don't think saying it's not worth future proofing your phone is a reasonable response. With Custom ROMs, apps requiring more memory, and as more of life just relies on smartphones, I think it's wise to get more RAM and double the storage.

We are discussing this on xda. OP has enjoyed very good support from dev community. So "future proof" does make sense in that respect.

considering rom backups, music and pictures i dont think i'll ever exceed 30 - 40 GB. What do I use the rest of the storage for lol. Most of my stuff is already on drive and pictures on google photos. I don't think 128 Gigs will future proof anything.

hahah sure but there are custom roms.. and who uses their phone over 2 years these days.
These are my questions too. I had to wait til payday to buy the phone, which they didn't hold it for me like they said they would. So now I'm waiting for the 27th. I'm not sure if I want the 8gb/128gb or the 6gb/64gb. I'm currently using a nexus 6p, so the minimum alone is doubling my ram and my storage. So I know that's all I really NEED. They both feature the same everything else. But, it's available with 2gb more ram, and 2x the storage. Sigh... What to do... I'm pretty sure I want the 8/128
IMHO go for the 6 GB/64 Gb vers. If you have more space u will find more junk to keep. 6/64 is more than sufficient for your purpose. If you are using it mainly for testing what will you do with all the extra space ?
I went with the 64gb model. I was about to order the 128 but after thinking about it, I realized that it is a complete waste for me . Between the fact that 6gb of ram is way more than enough and the fact that with everything being cloud based and streaming , there is just no need for the higher end model. I am using a phone with 4gb ram and 32 gb storage right now and not even close to maxing either one..

Yeah I guess I'll go with the 64 GB one.
Super ! When you do purchase can you perform the following test for me.
1) Overload the phone with 20-25 open apps
2) Further load Chrome with 30 open tabs, several with embedded vidos
3) Now Launch a browser from inside another app (A RSS reader like feedly or even facebook / twitter) navigate within this browser till u find a page with videos (E.g. on techcrunch.com), play the video.
Now try to scroll up and down real fast, and see how the touch response is.
Thanks a ton.

I guess the decision to go with base model 6/64 or higher end 8/128 should entirely depend upon personal use.
If your usual use case is operating 20-25 apps and 30 chrome tabs + games and storing tonnes of photos + videos, sure, go with higher end. However, my usage will not be as demanding as stated so will go with the base model.
This might sound crazy but for me, I simply preferred the appearance of the black one.
I'll be glad to have the 128gb ram - a couple of years ago this would have been really important to me - although with unlimited 4g data and cloud storage / music streaming etc. its less of a factor nowadays.
The difference in price points between the two is reasonable but the biggest draw for me was I wanted the black one.

I do, not exactly rich enough to buy decent pricey phones every 2 years. still using a 920 that i hope to sell on
I don't think it's crazy at all, the black looks stunning and a lot of people buy a specific phone because of how it looks. If I didn't always use a case, I would have gone for the black one as well.
I opted for the 64GB - I've filled it with the apps I use, I use Google Pics to store my photos online .... I have like 40GB left ....Didnt feel the need to pay more for something that I wasnt going to use ( ram or extra memory ) - also i prefer my grey

Good Times are close at hand for HONOR 7X owners ready to recieve the OTA...
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-oreo-emui-8-pro-9i-7x/
Here's hoping..
I'm New To Honor..
And I must say.. I'm impressed with the way that they handle their business.
After reading this quote from a View 10 article here on XDA.. I see that the Huawel / Honor Managemnt, R&D and Marketing divisons are really working towards catering to the Development Community.. More than I've seen in recent memeory in this age of "Lock Down This" and "No Signature Keys For That" era.. With Oreo & Project Treble and FULL ENCOURAGEMENT from this company in regards to Customizing each users experience to whatever level they disire.. This Says A Lot about their target market... (Huawei / Honor: It would not hurt to do this with the 7X either.. :good: )
Here's the quote:
“We are opening the AI source and bootloaders for the Honor View 10 to developers to be able to have access not only the AI APIs, but also root and give the opportunity ROMs,” an Honor spokesperson wrote in a post on the XDA Forums. “We want to see what some of you can do by having access to our AI ecosystem.”
What’s more, Huawei also said that it’ll supply 1,000 developers with Honor View 10 units to get popular custom ROM developers off the races, and that it’s already in contact with the Paranoid Android and LineageOS teams. If you’re a developer and interested in nabbing a phone for yourself, you can apply for one here. Alternatively, Huawei’s taking nominations for developers in the official announcement thread.
The Honor Open Source Program for the Honor View 10’s pegged for a late January 2018 rollout, and it’ll be exciting to see what comes of it. With access to Huawei’s open AI ecosystem, there’s no telling what exciting applications and ROMs developers will make.
Thanks a lot
How exactly do I return to stock. The only thing I've done so far is unlock the boot loader. Is there anyway to re-lock it?

Sir.. there is no way to get back to stock.. unless you have a supported variant at the DC website ( Link is somewhere in the 7x threads )

Everyone, I'M SO VERY SORRY I EVEN POSTED THE LINK.
At the time I really believed Honor had their Sh!t together... and when they posted this:
"Honor View 10 and the soon-to-launch Honor 9 Lite come with EMUI 8.0 out of the box. Devices like Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and Honor 8 Lite, on the other hand, will get it in the near future"
Which is the last paragraph from the article... I thought they were being Honest & Truthful.
I don't know about you... but I don't consider *Will Get It In The NEAR Future* as being months and months away.
And now we know their is no Rhyme or Reason as to how they roll ANY update out.. it's almost a month after I 1st started the thread.. and they are not even close to even getting the 230 mb face unlock / ar update to 100% of devices...
Let's not even go there with EMUI & OREO.
So Again, I just want to say Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up besides mine.. to be let down so hard.

No, comments from random xda users do not prove that there was any kind of promise from Honor. If Honor made a statement saying Q1 Oreo for 7x, you should be able to link directly to that statement. But I feel like you're probably just trolling me so I'm done with this. Peace out :good:
Look dude, if you're unhappy with the phone or the service then jump ship. Put your phone on swappa.com and grab another one that is more to your liking. First you're writing about how people shouldn't be rooting and installing twrp and how we should leave everything stock. Now you're saying your sick of this and tired of that. It's tiresome man. **** happens. You think Huawei is the first oem to miss a deadline or say something and not come through? Every manufacturer has done something that some of the user base didn't like. Can't keep everyone happy.
Let's think hypothetically for a second. Let's say the pushed the oreo update right and it had numerous bugs and was just awful. Then you'd be right back in here saying they rushed things and you'd be complaining more. The only thing that I see as a problem is that they haven't released the stock firmware yet for the L24 but then again the phone has been out for not even 3 months. Could be worse. I bought my wife a note 3 before branded at&t and they never even allowed the bootloader to be unlocked. Rooting and putting a rom on there was a pain in the ass. You have your opinion and I have mine but here lately it seems all you want to do is piss and whine about how unhappy you are. You stated in another post how you might not be around by the time they release oreo, well why put off til tomorrow what you can do today, do everyone a favor.

Are you having trouble excepting that Security Updates are at different levels all over the Planet.. I'm sorry but it's a fact.
Are you having trouble excepting that a device that is rooted at this present time has no easy way to return to stock if needed for WHATEVER reason after being on the market for over 2 months ? I'm sorry but that is also a fact.

By the way, when you say 'the defense rests' that means you have no more evidence to present. If this is the only "evidence" you have, this means you actually have lost the case because you cannot present any further evidence.
--> I have no dog in this race nor do I own this phone, but I did think it was funny that you rested your case after not presenting any evidence
Yeah I'm done listening to your nonsense. You're just one of those people who like to argue just for the sake of arguing. Ofc I understand this is an entry level/bottom tier device but at the same time I'm not the one *****ing about it either so there's a fact for you. I bought this phone because for the price it is a decent phone and works fine for what I need it for. I knew it was new on the market and that development would take some time to pick up pace. I didn't know much about Huawei but I don't see them being very different from any other manufacturer. Most companies don't give specific dates. It's always the blanket statement time frame estimates. But apparently you live in a world where everything is on time exactly when it was supposedly said and everything runs perfect and if there is any deviation of how you think it should be you throw a temper tantrum like a 3 yr old that didn't get their juice box. Grow up. **** happens. Answer all you want but I'm not replying to any more crying about how unhappy you are and how unfair big bad Huawei is being.

I've spoken of why would anyone really want to root *with no way back* and the 7x having been out for MONTHS and folks have no way to return to stock.
And mainly: TO RECIEVE THE O.T.A.' s
You have to be stock to get those.
You see people asking "how can they return to stock? " throughout the threads.. and god bless'em they have no way to do so.
That Sucks.
Everything said on XDA DOES NOT APPLY TO *YOU*
If I took everything everyone has said in the last 6 years I've been hanging out here to My Personal Heart.... I would have lost my mind long ago.
I LOVE my 7x... I accept it's the entry level deivce.. thus the $199.00 price.. my opinion is you get ZERO advantage rooting at this time.
It has Themes, DPI adjustments, the ability to remove apps without root, great battery life, and decent speed.. even with the 3/32 variant that I own.. And your $199.99 dollar investment runS *100% Stable and 100% Fully Functional*... you don't need backups of stock firmware.... but, as a company.. don't promote rooting and a system to unlock one's bootloader.. and make it a One-Way Suicide trip to Root Oblivion and not extend a hand in the form of stock firmware to pull them out should they need it.
Someone said in a Quote " Hell they had firmware mold to install it on everyone's 7x... why can't they just release that? "
Makes Perfect Sense To Me..
Again I Don't Like Being Lied To.
If the articles that were out there in Jan. stating these updates are "Coming Soon" and they were not.. Honor should have jumped in an clarified dates..... Immediately.
They did not.

There is No Need to insult people in threads like you've done.
Just move on to another thread.
After nearly 2 months with the S20 Ultra 5G, i'm giving up on it. Coming from a Mate 20 Pro to the Samsung, i thought would be a great upgrade. Reading the specs etc, made for being a pretty good powerhouse for Photography.
After going through about 4 updates since receiving the phone, the Camera is simply not good enough. It's fantastic for outdoor shots, however, Focus hunting, and the lack of clarity when photographing text makes the S20 photos blurry, and frankly, looks crap. Even with video, focus hunting is ridiculous. Hugely disappointed considering the Mate 20 Pro produced better photos by comparison.
Add to this, the physical size of the phone. Something i thought i could live with, but its massive! The camera bump alone makes me way over cautions putting the phone down after reading reports of the camera glass cracking (even though i've added a protector). I shouldn't have to feel fear using a bloody phone, so its going the journey.
The point of this post is???
He had a thought, it must be shared. So ridiculous

Despite Samsungs updates, Camera is still not good enough. Especially for the price paid. Voicing my concerns same as everybody else.
Dont be ridicolous bro, your expecting way too much from a phone, if you like photography so much just a buy a decent camera...also the mate 20 takes better photos than the s20 ultra? I think you dont know what your talking about and very ignorant on this matter, kinda hard to satisfy people who have no idea what they are talking about...
The entire thread is pointless. It is not news, a guide or even a discussion.
If you are not satisfied then sell the phone, we do not need the negativity here.
people!!!
we live in free world - i think he mades very good points and he is right - the s20 ultra is a disappointment from many POV esp at that price
either way - this is a free forum where people can express freely their opinium - be that it's a good or bad towards a certain brand
dont read the post if your not interested esp since he made it really clear in his title
There is already a thread with this discussion. Creating a new thread about the same thing is pointless!

I hear you man. Sold mine after 2 months and got a OnePlus 8 pro and couldn't be happier. Never buying a Samsung overpriced trash again!
