Can I still be rooted if I flash firmware 6.0.1? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on G900VVRU2BPB1 and I believe my bootloader is locked as I did root my phone and the samsung unlock app did not unlock my bootloader. I am rooted and I am wondering, there a way for me to go to MM and keep root? Or am I stuck at LP? If I read the information correctly, I am stuck at LP if I want to keep root correct?

If you're CID 11 the bootloader cannot be unlocked. Also there is no root method as of now for marshmallow. You must flash back to PB1 (lollipop) and root and unlock if possible.

Re-Lock Bootloader?

I've rooted my S4, and I'm running 5.0.1 Stock rooted firmware.
I'd like to re-lock the bootloader so that no one can hack my phone by flashing a zip with a lock screen bypass, if I lose it.
Is there anything that can re-lock the bootloader, while maintaining root?
Thanks.

safestrap vs flashfire and locked bootloader?

Hi,
I am running on rooted stocked OC4. This was done following the instruction which uses Flashfire to flash ROM and then ODIN to flash bootloader.
I am now looking to flash custom ROM (T-Mobile ROM specifically). From what I can read, the suggestion is to use safestrap which get around the locked boot loader in order to flash ROM.
However, there has been no update for saftstrap on 5.0.
Flashfire was able to flash stock ROM. Does it mean it has ways to get around locked bootloader?
Thanks

Upgrade to marshmallow with OD5 bootloader

I'm looking to upgrade to pf4 (with root). I'm currently on OG5, with the bootloader on OD5. I know a while back it was suggested not to upgrade the bootloader, as I could downgrade. Is it advisable at this time to flash (with fireflash or safestrap), or is there some other way that keeps the bootloader at OD5 (or do we care anymore)? Unfortunately I have a CID of 11 .
MM, like LP, requires a bootloader update so you have to choose if you want to update and never downgrade to KK again or keep the option to downgrade to KK but never be able to upgrade to MM.

SM-G900M, Android 6.0.1, not rooted - how to get it ready for mods?

The phone's bootloader is probably locked. It has never been unlocked, and I believe model SM-G900M was sold with the bootloader locked. (I tried to check if the bootloader is indeed locked, but fastboot did not detect the phone.)
I understand that in this scenario there is currently no way to root an S5, right?
It appears that the only way to go is to perform an Android downgrade. I would have to use Odin to flash a stock 4.4 ROM (is this correct?), then I would be able to root the phone with towelroot, unlock the bootloader and install flashfire on my device. Does this sound like a doable approach?
Suggestions/advice very much appreciated.
Thanks!

CID=15 what bootloader/firmware actions are irreversible?

Right now I have two CID 15 G900Vs with PB1 rooted 5.0 firmware and OD5 bootloader. I'd like to use the spare to try out MM 6.0.1 rooted using the unlock procedure.
I know that loading a post-OD5 stock bootloader is irreversible. If I use the procedure here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
to install an unlocked bootloader, is that an irreversible change? Will I be unable to go back to an earlier (OD5) bootloader or firmware after the unlock procedure?
If I use this procedure:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/update-qi2-t3688046
and install
Developer Bootloader Friendly/No Aboot No-Wipe Firmware:
G900VVRU2DQI2_G900VVZW2DQI2_G900VVRU2DQI2_HOME_No_ Aboot.tar.md5.zip
will I trip a KNOX flag or set any fuses or otherwise do anything that cannot be undone? I'd love to play with this stuff but want to make sure I can back it out if necessary.
Thanks,
Mike
