The charging port on my s5 got messed up when i used a usb cord that was messed up. if i do plug it in and adjust the cord to connect the slightest movement will disconnect the phone from my computer. i dont trust it flashing the bootloader for 6.0.1 as it could randomly disconnect during the flash. i can complete the flash of the rom through flashfire but i cannot safely flash the bootloader through usb. im currently on 5.0 BOE1 OD5 wondering if there is another method to upgrade to 6.0.1 without using odin or loosing root

Hi
I have tried to find a solution for my situation in the last 2 days and I didn't find one.
I have a N910F with 5.0.1 lollipop stock rom. it is rooted and with TWRP recovery. i have used Odin.
The problem is that my phone started to act weird 2 days ago while charging. It was restarting itself while charging and i decided to stop charging. After few hours when i have tried i couldn't charge anymore. if i am using a USB cable to attach to my pc it saying USB device not recognized .
I want to flash a stock recovery or a 4.4.4 rom using only custom recovery( i have tried mobile odin but my device is not supported, also i have tried different genuine samsung usb cables). i have found a stock rom 4.4.4 flashable through custom recovery, but because i have 5.0.1 modem is not booting up.
How can i remove the custom recovery and flash a standard recovery without odin? i have root at the moment and custom recovery.
can some one send me a stock recovery for BOB4 5.0.1 lollipop flashable from custom recovery or flashfy/rom manager?
many thanks.
also i have tried to restore my nandroid backup and restore to factory defaults. the device status is still CUSTOM. the rom part it should be official, it is just the recovery non standard.
any help? suggestions? are the contacts near the battery usb compatible? can i use those contacts as usb? i want to send back phone to warranty and i don't want complications.
I have managed to update my recovery to stock one with flashify, also i have updated to boot.img with flashify. Problem is that the system status is still custom, and binary still custom. Any solution to that? ( one solution is to wait for wanam to be updated for lollipop and reset).
My previous firmware was I9505XXUGNJ8 that in Kitkat 4.4.2
Today i was just trying to update to Lollipop 5.0.1
Tried direct flashing with Odin 3.09 the firmware I9505XXUHOB7_I9505YXYHOB5_I9505XXUHOB7_HOME.tar
Then it failed in the middle.
Now it does nt startup. Then i flashed the pit file for S4 i9505 and now the logo just comes then all goes black. Now i can start in download mode.
Help me how can i upgrade to 5.0.1
Make sure you're using the original cable, and that the cable isn't plugged into a hub. Plug it into a different port if need be, and try again.

Click to collapse
Put the phone into download mode
Connect to PC USB
Check ODIN has the COM port highlighted at the top
Add the stock ROM to AP in ODIN
When it is ready, press Start
When ODIN is finished flashing, it will reboot your phone into your new stock ROM
Stock ROM running on your phone after that will be able to take OTA updates (As long as you don't root / custom recovery)
If you want root and custom recovery again, just do the same as you did last time, and each time you want to update, just follow the above, that's how I update
Ive been having issues with my S5. Whenever I open the play store it crashes right away. I tried everything. Even reinstalling it.
Im going to just wipe everything and re root. I flashed NK2 kernal, but it didnt look like it changed anything. All my settings were still the same from after I tried the factory reset.
How do I install a fresh install again? I dont see the instructions or files any more. Seems like you had to go down to 4.2 then 4.4 then root.
I need to get this thing rooted again by saturday. I have a trade show this weekend. Need tethering. Ill lose a lot of money if I dont.
Thanks guys
You can check what firmware you are on NY going to recovery mode. To boot into recovery turn off your phone then hold power button home button and volume up button at the same time. Then check what firmware it says on the screen.
If you are on kitkat yes downgrade to 4.4.2 download the firmware on Sammobile. Com
Flash firmware using Odin
Then setup your device
Then root your device with towel root download
Then click make it rain and you should have root
After that try these Tethering apps
http://mashable.com/2012/08/16/free-tethering-apps/#43d31vkkSmq8
If you need bootloader unlock you can go to getex's kk-mm bootloader unlock thread on xda in s5 Verizon forum
If you are on lollipop go to Sammobile. Com and download and then flash bok3 or pb1 firmware in Odin to your phone
Then set it up and go to ok3 root forum on xda under s5 Verizon and follow jrkruses method to get root
Then try the Tethering apps from the link above
If marshmallow downgrade to ok3 or pb1 then follow the lollipop instructions from there
