x10 has been on the charger for over an hour, still sitting at 1%, lol
when i went to bed at 2:40am, it was at 40%, woke up at 7:30am to 14%, got to work at 8:45am, it was at 4%. been plugged in since about 9am (10:19am now), and it's still at 1%. red LED is on, phone works, but shuts down shortly after unplugging it.
nothing running in the background, airplane mode on.
don't know if it's the battery, or the phone, but it's going back today. and i'll be getting something other than the x10. probably something other than android at this point (4th android device).
this is really weird since i have never had a battery issue up until this morning. the battery always lasted atleast a day an a half.
Is there really an os superior to android at this point?
webos is pretty killer but palm phones suck so far (though the hp pre 3 looks incredible)
at this point?
no
in the future for some current os?
yes
i'm not looking superiorority, just something else.
*UPDATE:
plugged the cable into a different usb slot, apparently that was the problem, lol. it's up to 4% now.

I suggest you to charge in the wall socket. Usb is way too slow.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Its happen to me once a while especially when I change my Rom...What I do is turn off my phone and pull out the battery for few minutes and put it back and charge it..If the battery do not heat up when you charge then the battery is charging but if it become hot than usual repeat same procedure..

yeah, but wall charging discharges faster. slow trickle charging is better for the battery.

This is not true. You can see how my phone is going charged in wall socket.

if you're going to use usb, then expect it to charge slow, also charging it via plug is better and doesn't discharge faster :\

You're correct... the only reason it would appear to discharge quicker is because of the added heat as the phone/battery gets warmer when using the wall charger.
Otherwise the discharge rate would be exactly the same for both methods
Well...u could try "OFF mode" charging. 2.2. see that works or nt...
Svt try this, this works for me.
Flash back too 2.1 stock s.e fw. Go charge for 100% .
It should fix the problem.
When you flash custom rom clean bat stat. Note- dont clean bat stat again when your in a running custom rom.
I have this problem too on j's rom v12. im 100% charged, and try to plug again the charger its charging but the bat is decreasing, weird hehe.

It gets warm but not so much. And very important thing is when you charge in wall to turn off charging right after it reaches 100%. It's not healthy to leave it in.

it gets much warmer than by usb as the current is double....
That's why it would appear to discharge quicker until the battery cools down.

Exactly!
According to my experience, that is the only difference between charging via USB and on the wall. If you do the latter, it appears to be discharging faster at first, but after it settles, it holds the charge just as well.
Ok, you can see my battery temp when charging trough wall socket. When not charging the temp is about 34 degree. So wall charging doesn't make the phone too heat more than a usb.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I beg to differ..mine is much warmer on the wall charger than when charged via usb... Especially during the end of the charge
Rather dramatic title!
I was expecting an equally dramatic story, but pfft! haha

Do yu have custom rom?

My nexus 4 was all fine till I flashed the r22 kernel.
My phone had about 22% battery left, so I plugged it in to wall, and I started using it at the same time
To my surprise, after 2 hours of being plugged in to wall, the battery has discharged to 19%! And I've been only using Whatsapp with lowest brightness! no heavy usage!
So I left it there to charge without using it, and it reached 95% in about 7 hours! (usually it took 2 to 3 hours)
I reverted back the kernel and the ROM and tried again, with no success! It goes through the same behavior.
Any Ideas? Is something wrong with my device?
are you using the original charger? my nexus 7 discharges while plugged in if I'm using my nexus 4 charger

Could be the cable? Im using its cable but plugged to the pc.
I am suffering from something similar since updating OTA to 4.2.2. I'm using the official charger and always charge overnight but twice in the last 6 days the device has not been fully charged in the morning. Looking at the battery graph it reached 100% in a few hours but then slowly discharged despite still being plugged in. I use the Clock Daydream in Night mode (and always have, since I got the device in November) so I'm going to disable that first and see if the problem exists. If so then I'll try a different charger. If that fails then it's factory reset time.
it is strange that after reaching 100% plugged it in to wall if i use it to listen to music or something like that still plugged to the wall it discharges to 99%.
This makes no sense to me a phone discharging while plugged to the wall
same thing's happening to me. not really that bothered but I want my phone to charge and not discharge when I play music. ;(

Yes, I've had the same experience since the OTA 4.2.2 update. Went from 8% to 1% while running nothing but XDA app at lowest brightness. Stock charger. Never had it happen before update.

That's your issue, your PC's usb only supplies 500-+ mA for charging. The nexus 4 original charger is 1.2mA.
It's the stock charger, it sucks, try re-plugging the cable several times (check in battery, if charing says "AC" instead of "USB)

Similar issue.
Hey people.
So I have an issue with my battery on my N4. I left it to charge over night in the wall charger and when I woke up my phone was stuck at 66% charge. I unplugged the charger and plugged it back in. First it's showing that it's charging via the AC but changes to USB after a few seconds. I rebooted my phone twice which fixed that problem. However, charging is very slow now (so slow that the battery drains faster than it charges) and when my phone is not charging the voltage keeps jumping up and down.
i.e: at 53% charge the voltage is at 3734mV but jumps to 38xx mV all of a sudden and then jumps back down again (not the first voltage but to a different one again such as 3778mV). Is this behavior normal? I don't think so.
So should I be worried or what can I do to fix this? Maybe fully discharge my phone? But I'm worried that this'll affect my batteries life in the long term.
I've had this phone for around a month now and I'm fairly scared that somethings wrong with my baby.

HI all,
I have encountered a problem that my phone cannot be charged to fully 100%. I turn off the phone and charged until full (the batter bar is not moving anymore) around 2.5 hours. Then, i unplug my phone and turn it on. I found out that only 98% of the battery at the glance...So what is the problem?
Need help seriously. Thanks
Maybe reset battery stats in recovery..

Unless your using a kernel with BLX it won't charge over that, no phone in reality charges above 96%

Mine charges to 99% most of the time then I unplug the cable, plug it back in and it goes to 100%.
Sometimes I unplug it at 99% and it then goes to 100% battery, totally stock rom none rooted.
Mine only just started to charge to 99% this morning. Have been getting 'Charged' usually. Hopefully it's not a sign of the battery slowly dying.

Is it possible to ruin my phone's battery due to overcharging? I charge my phone overnight no matter what percentage it is on, I still charge it I know this is bad, but can this ruin the battery? thanks
You should be able to charge as long as you want w no problems as long as you're doing this in a cool or room-temp environment (rather than say leaving it alone in a car charging at high noon w AC off, windows down & no sun shades on the windshield). If you have your phone charging in hi-temp conditions too long\often your battery swells & you get gradual irreparable damage.

If u make a correct use of your battery it won't get damaged. Extreme overclock, overvolt, etc can ruin your battery, but if u charge it every day because ur battery is empty it's ok, and u won't have any problem.

Normally, when your phone reaches 100 % full battery level, it stops charging and starts discharging. At around 95 % level, it starts charging again. This all takes a toll on the battery, especially over a long period.
If your phone's battery is at or above 50%, leave it alone or turn it off for the night.
I have an external battery pack for use during the day time, just for situations like this.

I don't think that's correct. It should switch to a trickle charge, which won't harm the battery, not stop charging completely.

What I spend a lot of time charging the phone through USB? I leave it on charge at work plugged into the computer through USB as there are no free plug sockets. My battery just seems to be getting worse and worse over the last couple of months... Could this be the problem?

It'll automatically stop charging itself when it's full, it's impossible to overcharge a modern cell phone battery these days. They are a bit more computerized than the old nicad batteries from back in the day. It's actually healthier to give lithium batteries partial charges at a time instead of draining to zero percent and charging to 100 percent.

I doubt it. Could be a faulty battery, but more likely to be apps draining it in the background. Install BetterBatteryStats and see what is using the battery.

i'm using app called full battery & theft alarm. i always charge my phone during sleep, and this app will wake me up to disconnect the charger if the battery is full.
i hope this will prolong the battery life
How do you know your battery is getting worse if it's always charging?
My personal experience is the less you charge it, the better it will perform. However, when you DO charge it, make sure you are less than 30% battery and charge it to 100% before removing it.
For me it's easy, I basically charge my phone at night when I go to bed and that's it. I easily get through an entire day on this phone, though I admit I usually only have about 2-1/2 hours screen on time (I mostly use my tablet when I am at home)
