Hello,
I've a Galaxy S7 G935P from Sprint and accidentally was installed a different rom (the G935A rom including kernel, modem, and other, from AT&T) instead the most recent android for G935P.
I can access to download mode (and now this mode show the S7 Edge model as G935A instead G935P) but I can't install again the G935P software through Odin, I tried several times and nothing, also if I try to install a G935A I get an error and fail to upload the system.
I was reading other threads but they have problem with T-Mobile and AT&T, does anyone knows a way to recover the Sprint phone and install the original software?
Can be installed TWRP to solve the problem deleting all the system, data, cache and install a rom from TWRP recovery?
PS. I don't have warranty because the phone was rooted to unlock it.
Its worth a shot to try to flash the latest g935u rom. As far as i understand, it is a universal rom that is the same across all carriers.
you are bricked.
only hope is samsung warranty.
take it to your carrier's store and tell them your phone isn't working.
they will either replace it on the spot or give you a phone to borrow and order you a new one from samsung.
if you bought it off ebay or retail you are fuct.

I don't have warranty as mentioned above, so I can't replace the phone. I guess there is a method to unbrick the S7 Edge or something because I can use a special rom for tests (I can't see the samsung interface, but I can see the signal, touch, microsd and other) but I don't want to test without knowing, to avoid hardbrick or something.... maybe someone comments a method to solve it.

There is still hope.
Many of these phone store (sprint, tmobile, att, etc) have a samsung rep that comes by and promotes products.
Find one of these reps and he will help you.

I am a Market manager for Samsung Electronics America and I'l be honest with you, we are just going to recommend you to contact 1-800-SAM-SUNG and talk to ECR and give them our employee ID and say we already troubleshot and we recommended sending it in. Ask for a 1-day air shipping label.
I just want to let you know I fixed the phone using odin by Prince C. I installed G935P without problem and I tested G935 (now it works and has a better battery life) but I reversed to G935P. Thank you for all
He probably had the newest sprint version qj3 and tried to Odin the at&t version. Sprint updated the bootloader, so other firmware won't work until they are updated as well. Right now, sprint is on v5 and everyone else is v4... that's why it didn't work.
Yep. Error after reboot in recovery would have mentioned that Fuse 4 was invalid or something to that effect. Use the QJ1 ROM and should be good.

On a locked bootloader you can only get back to your exact device build or update. So just the Sm s820L (current api or above) from Sammobile.
Hey guys. I've had this phone for a while on a deodexed rom with busybox. Anyway about 1.5 months ao I had some financial trouble and had to let the service go for a little over a month. When I bough a new airtime card I noticed that the phone was nolonger picking up any type of signal when it had alway shown a strong signal even when I had no time on it. I thought maybe it was because I needed to reactivate it or something so I added the airtime card (the $50 unlimited, it's on net10 by the way) but still can't get it to find any kind of signal. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out why and so far nothing. I have restored with a previouse TWRP backup, factory reset and tried reinstalling the rom but nothing has helped. Any imput would be greatly apreciated
Hey guys!
I'm fresh to these forums but I've been into modding my SM-S820L for a while.
I have a couple of posts over at needrom.com with firmware and unofficial TWRP release for the SM-S820L.
Head over there and check it out.

People simply might not know which is why they haven't replied. I can add my two cents but I'm not really sure.
930V is the version of the S7, a USA model. It might be that as the US model, it isn't compatible with samsung pay outside the US. It could also be that as a US model you can't get updates without being on a US carrier network.
Another possibility is that it's not an S7 at all and that it's a fake phone made to look and behave like an S7. Boot the phone into download mode, as download mode phone information can't be faked. See what it says in there.
But that's just a guess, I don't know for sure.
You can use Odin to change the firmware so long as it's a compatible stock firmware (you'd have to be looking at the Snapdragon firmware) which you can find at sammobile.com

its not face it tried g930u rom installed every thing good but little bit network problem network weak and Samsung pay is international not India version
Samsung pay may be an international service, but to work it still requires collaboration between telcos and samsung.
You have a US model phone that is not officially supported outside of the US, and is not officially supports by Indian telcos. That is probably why it won't work. Whatever Samsung and Indian telcos put in place to support Samsung pay likely doesn't include US model phones being used outside the US, with a non-US SIM.
The 930V also uses a different modem to the international 930F variant, which means you won't be connecting to all the same network bands as the 930F variant, which will affect your network speed and potentially any telco services such as VoLTE and Samsung pay.
There is a reason 930V's sell for cheaper than the international 930F variant.
so there is no solution for this phone
I have a AUS version of S7 and I can confirm that I am able to use it in India for Samsung Pay
Why dont you manually update it to Android 7. This will have latest Samsung Pay installed and you should be able to use it in India
Please head to Sammobile and search firmware for SM-G930V
Australia and India both use the international variant G930F, so I'd expect it to work.

Hey there, hope y'all are doing well.
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S7 SM-G930V, Nougat 7.0 (note: I live in europe, and it's an unlocked phone). I want to get rid of Verizon logo while booting and all the unnecessary apps connected with Verizon. Plus, as you know Verizon locks some functions like the device maintenance, turning off the backlight of the capacitive buttons, etc, etc.
So, I'd like to have a clean/untouched samsung firmware without any useless apps.
Is androidfilehost.com trustworthy? what about updato.com? (the latter had slow dl speed, and I stumbled upon the first alternative)
PS. by the way, mine reads G930VVRS4BQI1, so one thing that confused me was while loking up for files to download; should I get the G930VVRS4BQI1 which may be the only compatible file for my phone, or do I already have G930VVRS4BQI1, so downloading it would be useless?
Since I wouldn't like to tinker often with the phone system, what do you suggest, flashing or rooting?
Is there any guide for my case for flashing?
I noticed these two on the front page:

which should I pick?
and since the posts were last edited in may and september, where can I find the latest firmware?
and after doing all this, will everything work well, will I get OTA updates?
I would really appreciate someone helping me out, whenever you're free.
Thanks in advance
You can actually cross flash any Qualcomm s7 firmware between all carrier handsets. With your case being in Europe I would recommend the sm-G930U firmware. Which is the carrier unlocked variant of the S7 stateside that has all bands unlocked that the modem is capable of. You will recieve OTA's. It's Odin files are on Updato and SamMobile. AndroidHost is trustworthy.
In your case of not wanting to tinker or have a "need to have" rooted feature on the new device, I would flash the the 930U firmware and enjoy your new non branded system.

Hey JediDru,
I also just bought the S7 Verizon variant, and am planning on using it on MetroPCS. Would you recommend the 930U firmware for me as well? I wouldn't mind getting rid of the Verizon bloat before I hand it over to my wife...

You very well could. I think there is a thread around here specifically about metropcs setup somewhere between the verizon s7 and tmobile s7 forums. I use my 930v flashed to 930U on tmobile.

hey there, thanks for your advice! I downloaded the latest file from here. sammobile"dot"com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930U/VZW/
In a moment I was clueless at the "pick country" since there were more than one USA options. so I went with verizon, since my phone comes from verizon.
In the link I mentioned above it reads this This is for SM-G930U from USA (Verizon) which makes no sense to me, how it can be both "U"-unlocked and verizon at the same time... but, oh well, I flashed it 4 days ago and I've encountered no problem, which is all that matters! Hope I made no mistake at picking that file.
Recently purchased galaxy S7 SMG-930V (Best buy version) from a private owner.
I am on cricket and on APN setup LTE and MMS works without issues. Only issue is that upon dialing USSD code i get 'Connection problem or Invalid MMI code' . I tried all options available mentioned in this forum still doesn't work. Which version of SM-G930U should i flash? Main reason i purchased the phone is for Samusing Pay. Don't want to brick or lose Samusing Pay option after flash.
Inputs are appreciated.

Yes Flashing the G930U firmware removes all carrier bloat.
Samsung pay comes with the U firmware.
The last time I was on the U I had bad standby drain. I read somewhere else it has to do with the U not dozing correctly. They may very well have fixed it now, I'm on the latest tmobile 4BRA firmware and it sleeps like a baby right now.

Flashed the verizon U firmware and it did remove all the bloatware. Still need to check on battery drain with Samsung Pay. All other apps are in "Always Sleeping Apps" for better battery performance.
For future reference make sure before flashing new firmware google accounts and lock screen securities are removed/disabled.
Is there a way to back up apps with user data and home screen and reuse instead of installing all over again when a new firmaware is flashed. Spoiled by the root and titanium full back. That was so easy.

As far as I know, no. It's not so bad. I had gotten into the habit of taking screen shots of my app drawer and redownloading. To think now I can just redownload the configuration of apps I had before is as good as it gets. I still just redownload. I like to re-set everything back up just so I know its done.
I haven't tried this method but to backup and restore all installed apps check this Link.

Actually, if all you want to do is switch carriers (same GMail address), then a firmware swap will work.
I have an ex-Verizon (blacklisted IMEI - previous owner)S7 that I was moving to Tracfone (which uses both VZW and T-Mobile towers) - naturally, VZW was a non-starter; however, the UnCarrier was fine, so I used a T-Mobile nanoSIM (Tracfone triple-punch SIM kit includes SIMs from all except Sprint) and replaced the VZW firmware with T-M firmware (Prince Comsy ODIN does the track rather neatly). As long as your IMEI is not blacklisted from the TARGET, such a swap will always work.
Sorry, but I am a newbie so forgive me if this is stupid!
1 I had a slight battery problem so decided (why??) to flash the rom on my unlocked S7 edge. I used the 'BTU' version.
2 after flashing rom i cannot make or receive voice calls
3 i went into a samsung store they said it was an unlocked SM-G935F and had 'XEU' firmware.
4 they kindly reflashed this for me but it didn't solve the problem
5 I have just tried downloading and reflashing again with the XEU firmware. But I still cannot make or receive calls
one weird thing is that the odd text seems to get through to me
Anyone got any ideas on how to unbrick my phone? Very much appreciated.
Sorry, one extra piece of information. I am on '3'. But if I put an O2 sim in the phone it can make and receive calls. But before my first flashing it worked fine with '3'.
It seems I must have flashed the wrong firmware but have no idea what was on there. The previous owner used a EE sim in it. But it was bought not locked to a network - i think. There was no network branding on the phone.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem please?
Would it be possible to flash the wrong CSC - for example and American CSC - I am in Europe and on European CSC?

Try flashing XEU rom via odin but use CSC file instead of Home CSC you'll loose your data so don't forget to take a backup via Smart Switch.
one more suggestion flash older firmware (again 8.0) from XEU later connect your device to pc and update to latest via smart switch.

Try flashing XEU rom via odin but use CSC file instead of Home CSC you'll loose your data so don't forget to take a backup via Smart Switch.
one more suggestion flash older firmware (again 8.0) from XEU later connect your device to pc and update to latest via smart switch.

Many thanks that sounds like an interesting idea.
But.............. if I go back to the first version of 8.0 (oreo) will it wreck Knox or anything else to do with security. I want to still be able to use samsung pay for example.
Also, i was told by a samsung shop person that you can't downgrade because there are systems in place to stop you. Though i dont know if he meant from 8 to 7 or from recent 8 to older 8.
I am planning to flash this:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/XEU/download/G935FXXU2EREM/222561/
due to fact that its original software was xeu. Is that ok?
Your help was very valuable thank you

you wont break the knox and you don't have to go that much back just download 2 version back from january or february will be enough.
you can't downgrade your bootloader or turn back to android 7.0 that's what they mean. Smart Switch shpuld fix the problem for you.

Forgive me but I am new to this.
So are you saying:
1. Download:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/XEU/download/G935FXXS3ERLF/251612/
That's the last but one from January 19.
Which has: PDA G935FXXS3ERLF
CSC G935FXEU3ERKF
2. Can I just flash that. Or must I remove the bootloader from that package and put in the current bootloader?
And I was presuming I would do all of that with Odin??? Am I wrong. Is there a way of doing it with smartswitch? (I have reset the phone and got rid of all of my information already)
update: tried flashing last rom , that didnt work. the one before wouldn't flash - i notice it has numbers'3' in the various codes rather than 4.
still not solved
Many thanks again

Flash the os via odin (select CSC file not home CSC) Untick re-partition option on odin. (Instructions)
Select all files except home_CSC from odin. BL-CP-AP and CSC
After your device boots, skip settings till you see the home page. Connect your device to pc and launch smartswitch (It could ask you to install smart switch to your device) and update latest firmware over smart switch.

Unforunately, I am getting nowhere. And cannot get my phone to work.
Odin will not let me flash any files which have '3' rather than 4 in them. For example I can flash
BL_G935FXXS4ESC1_CL14843133_QB22373776_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
Because it is FXXS4.... the '4' being the important bit
But I cannot flash:
BL_G935FXXU3ERL3_CL14843133_QB20951136_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
because it is FXXU3.... the '3' being the important bit
This seems to reduce me down to the last firmware for both XEU and BTU neither of which enable me to make calls on '3' network like I have done for months before flashing.
Thanks for all of your kind help
It looks like my phone is bricked (

Bob, can you flash latest XEU? We are going to get new security patch update in few weeks. April security patch not yet release. If you can flash latest XEU you can update your device to upcoming update via Smart Switch.
Still bricked: cannot make calls
Thanks for help everyone.
I thought I would give you my conclusions so far in case they are helpful to anyone.
1 My phone was working perfectly for SMS, phone calls and data on the '3' network.
2 Because the battery life didn't seem good I decided to flash it
3 It turns out my phone was initially sold with 'XEU' firmware. But I didn't know that and so I flashed it with 'BTU' firmware - the latest edition.
4 As a result the phone could not make or receive calls on the '3' network. But... it can make and receive calls on the 'O2' network. However, '3' is my contract network and so I want to stay with that. Also, I think the companies are running down 2G transmissions ?? so eventually I may have problems with O2 .
FYI it seems the problem may be that the phone is not sending or receiving certain frequencies as otherwise why would it work ok on O2 but not 3??
**********Tried to resolve by:
5 New sim card
6 Factory reset
7 Clear partition
8 Flashing, again. I tried:
a latest XEU
b latest BTU
c previous XEU
d previous BTU
e previous XEU but with the modem file from EE
f previous XEU but with the modem file from 3
g previous XEU again but then did an over the air update to current XEU
Non of them worked.
*****Conclusion
My phone still will not make or receive calls on the 3 network - it won't register on the network (yes I have tried resetting, selecting network etc etc). It sometimes works with text messages though?? And 4G sometimes works. Otherwise the phone works perfectly, just not for phone calls.
Again on the O2 network all seems to work and I can make and receive calls.
So, to for me, it is bricked in that I can't use it as a phone.
I find it completely inexplicable that I can't get it to work on 3 for calls. There doesn't seem any logic to it.
But thanks everyone for all of your kind help. If anyone has any more suggestions I am willing to try them. Especially if they know how to turn on the relevant frequencies on the phone.
Bit of info: Samsung kindly ran a test to check the reception and transmission of signals. But the test wouldn't even start because it couldn't test the first frequency (apparently it should test lots).

Many thanks again for your reply. You've been very kind with your time.
Yes I can flash the current XEU but it still doesn't work. And I flashed the previous XEU and then did an update using over the air from the phone. But still it doesn't work.
Very best wishes
Bob
Weird
I put an EE sim into my phone (the previous owner had bought it unlocked but used it with an EE contract).
Then I put my '3' sim into my phone. And............ I was able to make one!! call.
After that it stopped working.
That was on XEU where I had downloaded the previous version and let it update over the air.
Does this in any way help diagnose the problem??
Thanks again.

Flash that version and update via smart switch please not ota. I've XEU device and I flashed btu many times to my device never had any problem. Than I update my device to TUR to get updates released bu Turkish operators.
There must be something about installization process that's why I'm asking you to update your device over pc via Smart Switch.
Thank you again RRoyy
I shall do as you suggest.
I think you are saying:
1 Flash previous version of XEU???
2 Then update to current version of XEU using 'smart switch'
3 Should I flash with my '3' sim card in the phone. Or not?
Is that correct?
Also, a small point but I didn't know smartswitch could update firmware. I have never used it. But shall give it a try.
If you could please tell me if the above is correct before I do it I would be most grateful. And thank you again for your time.
Side note: Today I tried an EE sim. It does work, but only on 2G. Not on 3G or auto switch. So, it may be the case that the original flashing of BTU that I did first of all somehow made the phone only 2G? Is that possible?
++Update. Smartswitch spent ages trying to update but failed at the last bit. IT downloaded the software but failed on installation. I have no idea why.
Any suggestions??
Best wishes
Bob
Hello again. So I still haven't had any luck.
I flashed the BTU before the current version. But then the smartswitch wouldn't update it to the current version. It claimed it was already current. It wouldn't update over the air either.
I then flashed the XEU before the current version and I DID manage to get smartswitch to update it to the current version. But '3' sim still not working.
It seems that the problem revolves around certain frequencies that do/don't work on my phone. I suppose it could be a hardware issue though that is unlikely seeing as it happened immediately after I flashed the phone for the first time.
This gives rise to two quesions:
1 Does flashing the firmware get rid of EVERYTHING on the phone. Or does it leave residual bits of information that aren't overwritten?
2 Perhaps the problem is the 'CP' software which seems to be the same for all the options I can flash.
3 If I could flash with firmware from another country with a different CP file perhaps that might push the phone into action.
4 Is there a way to check what frequencies my phone can and cannot receive transmit. I don't mean the specifications. I mean the actual received/transmitted frequencies/bands.
Many thanks again.
Finally, apologies for posting this without logging in but there is a problem with trying to login to the forum on this Chromebook. The space for name and password is not visible. Works ok in windows 10 but not on my chromebook.
Best wishes
Bob
1) Yes I believe the efs of the phone is not wiped when flashing software. Everything else is wiped.
2) You could try another country rom. Just make sure the model number is the same. Changing the CP could work as CP is the modem file.

to me
I have an unlocked/unbranded Galaxy S8 (SM-G950U1; Baseband is G950U1UE8DUG4). I was using it on ATT but now it doesn’t work after ATT 3G upgrade. I have read that I can flash G950U firmware to my U1 phone and it will work on ATT.
Is it any G950U firmware or do I need a specific version for ATT and my region? Can you show me where to find the needed firmware?
Can someone walk me through steps on how to install the firmware (including where to find Odin and any other downloads I need).
If this will wipe my phone, is there anyway to back up my phone so that I can get all my contacts, text history, whatsapps history, apps back on the phone after flashing it? Can you also walk me through how to do this?
Will this actually work even though my IMEI is staying the same – ie even if I change the firmware, wont ATT know that the phone was not originally an ATT branded phone and thus it wont work no matter what I do?
Lastly, the only reason I am doing this is bc I really like my Galaxy s8. But the S8 only goes up to Android 9. What are some of the issues I could get using phone that only goes to Android 9? (For example, could it be that I wont be able to download new apps if they are programed for Android 10 and above)?
Im a total newbie to this. I hadn’t even heard of Odin until yesterday so please make the explanations for someone is not a tech person.
The U variant should work. That's screwed up...

At selected Best Buys the Samsung Experience center can flash it for you.
I don't flash my Notes... as I don't wish to potentially contribute to the bricked phone threads here.
At least not yet.
