Today I learned something : Never buy LG smartphones'. My G3 crashed while I was surfing on facebook and a blue screen appeared, after few seconds, the smartphone turned off and no more sign of life. Tomorrow I will try to repair it with this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...very-guide-t3132359/post65003040#post65003040 . According to what I read on the web, the G2 has the same problems, the G3 suffers from the problem of battery and slow GPS, the G4 and the V20 from reboot ...
Edit
Finally, I succed to repair my G3, by burning the internal memory with a HAIR DRAYER ?
Thank you for your opinion. It helped me a lot.

Nobody forces me, and I no longer trust LG, all their products have problems after some months of use :crying: .
I can not buy apple products because it's expensive and I do not like their CLOSED SYSTEM .
My next smartphone will surely be an Xperia.

I'm not the only one to have these problems, many G3 are victims of the blue screen of death and reboots caused by the battery after 6 months of use, the body of the phone that breaks near the micro and the usb port.
The G4 suffers from bootloops.

I respect your opinion Sir. Everyone is entitled to their choices and opinions
But please ....please dont generalise based on just opinions or few out of a larger groups.
Any device will have its ups and downs.
I have used LG devices for a very long time and I am completely convinced that their device is very robust and bricking it requires special (shall I call it special stupid skills ) skills
So. please try to be composed and not to spread negativity.
I dont use LG G3 but I know there are brilliant devs here and people who will swear that their devices are working great.
I am not closing this thread on the account of leaving users opinions but plz avoid spreading confusing conflicting biased opinions
Thanks
TOO BAD for you ... because LG G3 is one of the best smartphones that I used and ENJOYED USING IT in my life .. ps: I never had this problem and I hope you could solve it good luck
Never had one issue or the reboot problem with the battery however I replaced with aftermarket batteries after awhile...have had every Rom installed and used it while not rooted...everything put on ur phone requires reading up on this knowing the knowledge of what's going on to your phone along with adjustments from your own experience...most of what goes wrong is user ERROR. I would suggest you do your homework before blaming LG for your problems although I hope you can resolve them and good luck
I´ve been using LG since the ¨LG Chocolate¨ days I´ve had almost every single ¨G¨ phone you name it (OG1,G2, G Pro, GFlex, G3, GFlex2, G4, V10) even the Nexus devices 4 and 5... And I gotta tell you there´s nothing like the G3. 5 G4s have died outta nowhere and I´ve lost money cause they were out of warranty, plus @bountyman334 stole my last good G4 when I sent it to him for repair. My V10 lasted 3 months and I bought it new from VRZW, that one I sent it to factory and they fixed it with a new motherboard.
But sincerely I ditched LG for Moto again, rocking the Moto X Pure now and loving it (same specs as the G4 only no bootlooping and quite large development community).
But I still love the G3, I´m ordering one as I type, it has a great dev community and its a beast phone!

I agree with you, the G3 is a very good machine, it was the best smartphone of 2014, but reliability is a disaster, I flashed a long time ago Fulmics 6.7 to avoid overheating, I Replaced the battery twice (originals batteries.) My brother has the Xperia Z3 and flash every day roms but the smartphone is still intact.
My friend has a G3 and has reboots after 7 months because of the battery, on the web, lot of users have the same problem.
Well, I am still using a G3 and I really love it. Easy root, good custom roms, XDA community support. I bought a G5 in hope of root and custom ROM support. Mine was not the EU varient since I don't live in europe (mine is South African H850), so I didn't get bootloader unlock. While I was hoping root from XDA community, nothing came so far. Just because of that I'm getting rid of it tomorrow. None of the LG devices got so much xda community support after G3. Locked bootloader is an issue obviously.

I'm blaming LG beacause I'm not the only one who had these issues, I ever had baseband issue with an Xperia SP but It was the only model that had it and sony exchanged it for free. The G4 suffers from bootloops after generally 4 mounths, LG exchenged it for free, but once the warranty ends it will be necessary to pay
Unfortunately, the guide did not help me, I flashed all thepartitions but no sign of life.
never had issues with the phone. soon it'll be 2 years since I have it. I'll probably just buy new battery and skip upgrade for at least a year more...
I think LG G3 is the best phone in 2014, but not as good as the Samsung hardware, many faulty screen machines and resources, so sad.
here's my rant (sorry for broken english in advance)
- awful GPS. I've owned not so much android devices, flagship mainly. I've never faced GPS problems, till G3 =). I thought it's impossible to be a flagship device and have poor GPS. But guys from LG think different.
The problem is both with hardware and software. I know what i'm talking about. I tried to fix it since i have this phone.
Hardware: bad connection between pins on MB and cover. Software: it keeps loosing GPS lock randomly. You can turn gps toggle off and then on again, and will lock almost instantly.
A year ago i was traveling with family miles away from home, i didn't have data plan, may this was a reason.. anyway my G3 started to loose GPS when i was in center of Warsaw. God i was mad.. After that it continue to loose gps till i back to my home region
Even now, when i "fixed" HW problems GPS reception is just poor. I have some ASUS cheap tablet, this thing can lock gps anywhere - on the backseats of a car, in a building even w/o AGPS
Don't tell me that "i don't know what are talking about, my GPS is fine". No it's not, try to google "LG * GPS" where star is anything from G2-G5, V10, V20, nexus 5 - top results will be about poor GPS. This is major LG problem
- Overheating. I don't actually understand how it's possible to have such kind of issues in 2014. This is LG - one of the biggest phones manufacture, right? Don't they have quality control department or something like that ? I have only one explanation for myself is they just don't care.
Under heavy load phone heats up almost immediately. The problem is that phone becomes laggy at these moments, also you can't adjust brightness to 100% (because it's hot), and you can't charge it more than ~80%. And when you using it , for example, as a navigation on a dashboard... well, you have to stop using it, because it's charging, heating by a sunlight, heating up by it's display, GPS chip, CPU so display dims to 5%
- The loss of SD card slot. Several months ago my phone started to throw messages "sd card unexpectedly removed". I bought a replacement card - same thing. I don't actually know whether it's HW or SW issue, because it can work for a day or two, but eventually comes to this error. And it's not only me:

https://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/4js10i/sd_card_keeps_ejecting/
- And least. Yesterday my phone started dropping WiFi connection.
Lg g3 - is the most unreliable phone i've ever had
I use my phone much. Navigation, notes, RD client ,tv show watching, lots of stuff. My work and life depends on a phone. If yours’s too - avoid LG phones.
some other thoughts:
>Who's forecing you? Buy an iphone
I don't understand your point. Will it make LG better ? Obviously not.
>Any device will have its ups and downs.
The OP is talking about major issues with this phone. These are not just pros and cons. The fact that other phones are not so great doesn't make G3 better. LG G3 still remains bad phone.
>please dont generalise based on just opinions or few out of a larger groups.
It's not just opinions. Take a look to the Help & Troubleshooting section: bootloops, screen death, hard bricks, no sd card - for the past month.
Sheep...
My g3 is the best phone I've owned, still matches up to the newer phones my friends try gloating about..
Specially with custom os on it.. stuck a 6000mah battery in it and never looked back.
Shame you didn't have a good time with yours.

I've been in the market for a new phone (AT&T) and have been researching the Galaxy S4 and the LG G2. I'm coming from an S2, and previously a Galaxy S, so I'm no stranger to Samsung, but the G2's features really caught my eye this time around. After taking time to look over multiple forums around the net, I'm starting to worry that the G2 (or LG's development team) is just going to cause me more problems than good.
Everything that is important for me seems to be giving users troubles. In-car bluetooth connectivity, loudspeaker and AUX volume, touchscreen accuracy, and camera quality being a few. My S2 had unbearable problems with its touchscreen not unlike those I've recently seen with the G2, and seeing it reoccur alongside other problems makes me lean away from this phone.
What I'm really needing help with is this: At this current point in time, is this phone worth buying? If I buy this phone, are the problems that I see people having going to go away in future updates or are they permanent to the phone? Do you foresee a large developer community building like the Galaxy phones have?
Yes it is its a beast of a phone and probly the best you'll fine this year

I can't speak to the development community question, but you could compare the two xda forums and get an idea. The problems people are having are not universal. Some people's phones are either not compatible with whatever accessory the are having issues with or are simply defective. Doesn't matter if it is Samsung, LG, HTC, or whatever. I would say that the vast majority of people who have this phone, like the vast majority of people who have the GS4, are not having any significant problems. In any case, don't you have a couple of weeks to test drive the phone before you lose the option to take it back? Go to the ATT store, hold your two favorite phones, put them through your normal paces and see which one you like best. Then go out and find the best deal on it, making sure you can trade it back in if it is not a "Fit" for you in the real world.
For me, the only issue I have is the occasional snap/crackle/pop sounds while on a voice call. VZW says a patch is coming out for it, but honestly I like everything else about the phone so much that it is only a minor irritant for me. If it starts to bug me more, I'll ask for a replacement G2.
That's my $.02 and as always, YMMV. Good luck!
LG G5 launch date confirmed for February 21. It may feature a unique and interesting modular battery design.

Yes and they supposedly move the buttons on the side.....
This is one good reason to jump in another OEM's wagon. For me back volume rocker was the first reason that pushed me to buy G2. And i was kinda disappointed with G4 when i got the hardware problems after 1 month.
Got to consider my next buy.

yes it's sure ..... users like ours are really a "minority" ...but there are much more users who "fiddle" their phone (who search for root,xposed,tweaks,customs.....) than we think .
and this future G5 will be the same as an Apple iphone and others Android manufacturers who will eventualy follow this full securities and locks .
The reason I bought the G4 was that I assumed it would be able to root, bootloader unlock and get a custom recovery for Custom Roms. Unfortunately I have the Verizon VS986 variant which only allows root. LG has been pretty stable and fast, maybe not as fast as the Motorola X Pure Edition which has the same specs but overall I am satisfied.
My contract extension isn't until 2017 so I'm pretty much stuck with the phone until then. I have alot of time to monitor and see who really is looking out for people like us that want full control of the phone and the Rom that is within the device.
..Sent from an XDA modified LG G4 on Verizon..
There's no point in buying a phone, if it's not possible to root and mod it. Period
s7 has rumours of a SD card if so back to sammy for me, root don't worry me my banking and a few other apps I need will not run on rooted device.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Not bad. But seeing how the G4 is as simple as a phone can get and had quite a bit of issues. I can easily see the G5 being filled with even more with a design like that. Stacking the locked bootloader situation and security on top, probably a no go for me.
Sony is really looking like a good option for the future seeing how they're very developer friendly and provide some nice options for the type of phone you'll want. (Premium, compact, that other third one)
Hopefully HTC this year will make us a surprise for the flagship phone then I will jump back to HTC .

*100 Out of all the manufacturers I think HTC has had the right idea for a couple years. They just can't seem to get the camera right for some odd reason. But if the camera is only marginally better than the M9 there's no question where I'll be headed. G4 dev support is almost non existent and if I can't tinker than its no use to me.
An HTC with a very good camera, why not 12mpx Ultrapixels..., or a Sony with an Amoled screen and finally a good camera which can shoot in Raw. I like my G4, but screen touch problem is not professional at all and I don't have time to send it and get it back 20 days later... Not serious at all about what LG did. Imagine Apple with this kind of problem... And the G4 don't have fingerprint sensor, a big shame, but like I said, it's still a good phone.
Well, then the show is open for some devices with good dev-support. I'm ready to hear, because neither the new Nexus 6P nor Nexus 5X have that amount of development. And those are phones without any problem.
At the moment, there isn't any new "beloved by developers" phone, is it?

Umm let's head over to the S6, Note 5, even the dreaded M9 has way more dev support. And I'm pretty sure the S7, Note 6 and M10 will have more dev support. There is no one "beloved by developers" phone but it seems like we have a good candidate for most "hated by developers" phone. The G4 gets my vote.

HTC has amazing devices but has vastly ignored the camera which is a shame. The M9 is a beast and the only reason that made me not buy the phone was the lackluster camera. I just wish there was a way to confirm root, bootloader unlock and Rom compatibility at the time of a phone release but it's a gamble ultimately.
We will all see in a few weeks at Mobile World Congress 2016 Barcelona.

I'm entitled to a new phone July 2017, so roughly 1,5 years to watch the scene. The G4 has amazing potential, I kinda believe what we encounter is mostly software related issues. LG, still, is a very professional company and I doubt they'd pick suppliers who don't double check their hardware. But: After that, LG is dead. I don't understand why you'd wanna lock out developers. I mean, half the stuff of today's Android was made up by developers and hands down, there is some and I doubt it's only a small minority, who don't wanna wait forever till they receive a bloated update or even worse who have to hope and pray that their device will be supplied with updates in the future.

yes ... all manufacturers will follow in this way ......
and "geeks" like ours will have less and less choice of phone ( otherwise we are forced to conform and and sacrifice by buying a phone like others standard users, never without root ,customs ,xposed ... but just the stock firmware )
The only way will be to buy a old second hand phone with developments........or pray that NEXUS will continue to be easy to hack and unlock .
the begining of the end ??? wait and see ...
So after a long time, G4 forced me to write another thread. You see I am a die hard G4 user. I can challenge you, noone is as crazy as me for G4 out there. Want proof?? This is my 3rd G4. Yes 3rd. First one had bootloop. But my local LG providers didn't help me as it didn't have warrenty paper. Second one was stolen. Now third one....Yah it also went into bootloop yesterday. And if you are curious, yes, all of these had S/N 505. My first one went into bootloop within 2 months, last one 5 months I guess. So that's it, I am telling you who are still jumping and showing pity to the guys having bootloop issue, you guys will also have the same issue someday (if you have S/N 505).
I don't know why the petition stopped for repairing G4's having bootloop issue. It was a very good approach.
Now I am forced to say if this is the way LG wants to make money by cheating people, we all should quit LG (only my opinion). Such a widespread problem but showing technical limitations, LG refuses to repair the devices. Yes you may have business policy, but this is an open issue now. See the device, if it really has the problem due to the so-called "loose connection between parts", why just you don't repair or replace the device??? Nobody is asking for any extra favour, right?
Now G5 is out. People are heavily praising it. But they did also when G4 was out. Even LG's promotion for G4 was much better and much more than this year's G5's. But what actually LG gave us special with G4?? Being a die hard user of G4, I can say that nothing but a really good camera and a replaceable battery. LG did so many unfair things with people regarding G4. All other manufactures somehow, directly or indirectly let people unlock their phones' bootloaders. Even there also LG did injustice by letting only a specific model to be unlock. Who knows they won't do that with G5?? Who knows there won't a similar problem like bootloop with G5 also? We xda community are really fond of modding our devices, isn't it? You can say it's a small portion, but day by day XDA members are increasing which shows people are more into modding/customizing these days. So why not LG? Why not improve your customer service? It's 2016!! Come on!! Don't behave like we are still living in an age where to send a message to someone, it takes ages. Do fair business LG, it's people hardwork's money you are taking in your pocket. Do some justice to us......
Had so much troubles trading my SEA H815 off for an EU H815..... My first LG device and probably my last LG device as well if they are not making any progress in these aspects. My EU G4 currently is a S/N 601. Hope this problem has already been solved in later badges.

1. Make yr customer service competent and customer friendly.
2. Keep promises that u make to people.

They said they will fix it. But only if it's under warranty. If your bootloader is unlocked, then you might be screwed. Some people have got it repaired others have been rejected.
Not all 505's will fail, please stop scaremongering.
If they do fail, then they'll be repaired or replaced under warranty. You might also like to know that this issue has also been reported on 506 and 507 devices. Are all of those destined to fail as well?

Because LG has been dutifully repairing defective G4's the world over. Under warranty. The issue is not that there is no repair but rather how long it takes to get the device back, typically a month.
There was a thread where people were talking about half the screen dead and were most calm about it. if that happened to me i'd be pretty nervous. warranty repair again. in fact easier as its only a screen replacement instead of a mobo replacement. mobo's are expensive so LG is footing the bill, each and every time it happens. Oh they know. Do they want to go through it again with the G5, doubtful.
Your problem is you cannot get warranty as you have to import. My sympathies.
Now tell me, if you know 505 isn't good why did you get it twice over. Why didn't you ask for later models ?

is LG the only vendor that does not allow bootloaders to be unlocked i wonder ?
Who knows there won't a similar problem like bootloop with G5 also?

The same thing applies again, warranty replacement. Same as with other vendors.
LG was happy to fix my 505 LG G4, at no cost to me, with very fast shipping and turn-around. So LG made me happy even though mine failed, they fixed it fast.
Weird. Saw this thread this morning, now my G4 is bootlooping to death. Guess what? S/N starts with 505
Mine went 4 months then died
Ah its destined to. However, LG is replacing the boards with 505 and 506 boards. (those are the boards which were manufactured in mid of 2015 (May-June).
My G4 got stuck on bootloop last month and I went to LG Service center. As soon as I started describing that its stuck on boot loop, he understood the entire thing (guess the issue is pretty famous by now) and then without asking any question he just replaced the board in warranty. Didn't even ask for bill or warranty papers. (though I guess the serial number itself explains the warranty status).
I'll suggest you guys., go to service center and get it done. If it doesn't work out at one of them, try other one. There must be multiple in your city.
Their service (SBE) refuses to repair the phone as well, I'm annoyed as hell, a guy got it repaired by them after the warranty period for free when he got it of 2nd hand and unlocked bootloader, he didn't even have a receipt... And when I phoned them the guy I was speaking with they "will not fix it because the whole mother board has to be replaced and it would be cheaper I just buy a new phone", so according to them its cheaper to buy new phone for 400 pound than get it repaired and not to be charged for it? Huh, fu**ing amazing logic LG, I emailed them about this yesterday and still did not get any reply. Say no more about LG, it's my first and last LG phone, I loved it till now but I'm just done.
I agree that the G4 is a great phone but LG's services sucks badly, my last LG phone.

Does anyone know if I can send my phone in for warranty even if I've unlocked the bootloader? My phone isn't bootlooping yet, but I'd love to know what to do if it does..

(Update LG V10 Bootloops reported by Android Authority : 20 AUGUST 2016 SATURDAY)
Hi ! Being a LG user owning G4...i think someone should sue LG for making defective phones all year around... We heard when G3 was launched some certain models had bootloop issue that was ignored and now even G4 almost every other day i see a dozens of new phone having some hardware fault being in a constant bootloop...now even if ur in there warranty they are still certain conditions you need to pass which if u dont will not be fixed for e.g imei should match the country that you live in otherwise they wont fix it, some times they say they are not responsible the carrier is, if u accidently unlocked the bootloader ur warranty is voided ...when ur making defecting phones in the first why the hell does it even matter is this how a flagship company operates ?? ...i know its a korean company they are running operations all over the world they are not taking things very seriously either they do it and stop there operation...now G5 is now launched i bet u even G5 is going to have a bootloop issue after certain period of time...someone or all of us should file a lawsuit against this company enough is enough..follow the link below to see more

It doesnt matter whether its locked or unlocked bootloader even newer phones are being bootlooped and its a hardware fault and if u dont have warranty it will almost cost u half the price of a new phone...so dont buy new phones buy refurbished ones instead which are already repaired

Like a lemon law. Better bussiness bureu. Anything bootloader unlock aside the whole g4 everyone that owns one should get some reperition check
I dont see no samsung or sony or htc being bootlooped problem is this a korean company either they use low quality materials or hired unprofessional workforce or is it they did purposely so people buy new phones every year ... I really think such a big company would ever make such a big mistake without knowing it before it is going happen ... Now they cant silence us i urge every lg bricked owner to stop buying their new phones from LG tell ur friends n family the same story ..lets spread this movement throughout the world #boycottLG

i think they shoud extend warranty. what would happen if it hits you after warranty has expired.? and the unlock bootloader i see it 2 ways.. phone its full of bloatware, and everytime it optimizes and goes thru all 200+ apps that makes your phone super hot and thats when all the cores are working.. if we root it and unlock bootloader and remove bloatware we make it more easier on the cpu.. unless you overcloked.. so removing bloatware makes cpu less stress...
there was a petition for this matter of warrany..
First of all the problem shouldnt hit u at all u paid a full price for the phone or under contract Whats the point of warranty when u unlock the bootloader..it will already be voided they will simply say sorry then u have to pay the problem isnt the software its the hardware fault causing infinte bootloop...software problem isnt a issue hardware through which the fone works and no normal person can fix this and often most expensive

Oh really i dont think so ...u ought to have proper experience in soldering first or have fixed before n having know how knowledge and this aint easy either ...this isnt the issue the issue is LG to stop making defective phones once n for all or stop there operation in the world

The only fix is a new mother board. There is talks of soldering it. But no one sucsessfully has done it as yet that i know of.
And yes i can solder quite well thank you. I do run a decent electronics repair shop. But i wouldnt attempt micro procsessor soldering unless again a bad a backup board on hand.
I do agree with you on lg does need to quit making decfective devices even to extent of a recall on all known production models affected. Further either a device not known to be affected. A similar device with simmilar specs or a refund. Just like any other recalled item sold. 9
I bought my phone 4 months ago, does that mean I have new motherboard? It came with marshmallow pre-installed.

I'm giving LG one chance to fix it and if it's not done properly or the issue happens again and my network refuses to replace it i'll be taking them to the small claims court. Sadly I didn't buy it from LG direct so can't take them to court. I don't know how it is in USA but in the UK consumer law isn't too bad to be honest.

In US we have what is called better business bureau ... Which resolves the dispute between the consumer n multi national businesses...the problem is people dont report such issues...LG has been making faulty fones since the launch of G3 im 100% sure they have some agenda in this and this way LG credibilty rate is very low...many consumers will not buy G5 now OR ever go near lg again ... LG itself is burying into ground which is a shame cuz these fones are awesome making easy for samsung, sony to be the flagships of the future

But how many boot loops or bricks are caused by users.
If you brick your phone because you were modding it, is that really LG's fault? If your imei country code doesn't match, did you change it? If these phones are failing on their own, that's one thing. If your mad at LG because YOU bricked your phone, that's another. How many companies will warranty a phone that YOU modded, rooted or unlocked yourself? Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. When I was stuck in a bootloop, it was because I was messing with it. It took me a week and a lot of stress, but I finally found a solution and fixed mine.

it happens to both locked and unlocked... it happens just laying on table, even without you touching it. it happens while browsing, wathcinga video, sending email, looking at pictures.. at any time. it happens while its charging and next day bootloop..???? i had s2 that i modded LGG2 that i modded flash every week.. and still going strong after many years and out of warranty.. a phone should last you years i believe 7-8 years maybe less or more.. ... one thing is getting it wet, dropped or overclock it. modding does not have nothing to do.. read the lg stuck on bootloop, all thread and see how many just bootlooped even laying on table...
It's certainly a problem that LG should take at heart. I bought mine March brand new even when i knew that this problem exists but i took the chance that newer hardware revisions don't have this or the percentage is lower . It was a hard decision to make knowing about this defect. From day one of my purchase it was so hard to resist unlocking and rooting that i barely endured to the 10th day . For now it's OK and no bootloops have occurred.

Tell us how many, you're active in there.
Trying to find people with bootlooped dual sims.
Indian ones i'm struggling to find them, a handful.
Russian ones about 25.
What i see is a lot of single sim folk, those same people reposting over and over again so any numbers are hard to come by.
Contrast with total number of phones sold. What share has the problem ? Not many.
Any problems have been settled by LG via warranty. Those that bought from abroad were taking a risk and knew it.
Should a phone last years, sure. But until mine gives up the ghost, i do not have a problem. My usage is light to moderate and i seriously doubt that kind of activity will brick any phone.
How high has the termperature got to get. This thing starts throttling when it reaches 40 degrees. The batteries are not meant to be operated beyond 45 degrees.
yesterday i did a test, streamed a football match whilst charging over QC2. The hottest it got was 35 degrees C. Looks like a properly working G4 to me.
if its heating up then something is making it do more work. Find the source and deal with it.
Unoptimised games need to be reported to the developer of said games.

Mine starts throttling at 52 far. I did a thermal paste mod and mine rarely gets hot. Warm somtimes.
Says ure in russia whats the ambient temp there normaly
I have been noticing people looping more in the summer months and also ive looked at a few profiles and according to their locations there in warmaer climates.
For instance a hot day walhere im located is 82 farenheit 85 max. Average 73 to 75.
Which also makes the device run hotter or cooler
I bought this device because it was overall very good in all the reviews I read. I read that the charger that came with it didnt support Quick Charge 2.0. That was the first dissapointment. When i received it, it was running Android 6.0. I did an OTA check and no updates were available. I decided to download Lg Bridge and i finally found one update. I bought this device on one condition, to avoid LG UX 4.0. And guess what, my phone was part of an ever growing crowd of people who didnt have the eu bootloader! I felt like I was smacked in the face. I searched the internet for more info and my fears were confirmed. Ever since that i vowed to never buy from LG again. Android is about Freedom and there is none of that on the LG G4. European market bias confirmed:crying:. Months after the discovery I had witnessed the scariest thing ever, I was listening to some music with my LG earphones plugged in. And suddenly i couldnt wake the damned thing anymore but when i touched the screen i could hear typing sounds, I had to pull the battery out. The battery life on the thing was mediocre at best, the screen never lived up the my expectations, the phone gets dangerously hot when i use snapchat. The only thing going for the LG G4 is its camera which was probably the best in 2015. I simply cannot stand the lag on the phone anymore and I am searching for other phones. Im not that kind of person who spends 600 euros on a phone. Then the Oneplus 3 showed and for 400 euro i get a phone 2 times as powerful, dash charging, an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and a premium design. Whats more Oneplus actually tries to fix its phones and released tons of fxes for the OP2. Im pretty sure the phone will get Android Nougat even if it takes a while(after witnessing what speedy updates meant on the LG G4 I would prefer slow and steady progress). The only thing the oneplus loses in is the camera department which will improve. Im tempted to wait for the 2016 Nexuses as they will have the best Android experience as well as support for Daydream vr. Ive also checked out the ugly zenfone 3 deluxe which will cost much more than 400 euro. The Axon 7 is also tempting but im not sure if the 6gb version will come out for Europe, the bootloader seems to be locked for now(news next week on whether it will be unlocked) So guys should i wait for the more expensive Nexus by HTC or look out for the OP3 and Axon 7?
You're not alone.
After a year of using it
Pro:
- Battery life, yes it last more than one day, and never need the 2nd battery
- Camera, I am not a pro, but keep getting compliment saying the photos are awesome
- Screen, I have no complaint, but nowaday a lot of high-end phone gets 1440p screen
- Quick eMMC speed and SD support
Cons:
- Still no unlocked BOOTLOADER!
- ****ty OS
- SLOW CPU nowaday
- Poor Wifi (50% vs my iPAD air 2 full bar)
- Very poor resale value
- Leather gets dirty quickly and expensive to replace
Verdict: The camera is holding me from getting another phone. It will be either Note7, Nexus 2016, or iPhone7.
I do not agree with some things here. The leather is not getting dirty fast at all except if you are not careful enough. I have the phone since February and the leather is like day one. I do agree that those covers are too expensive. The phone gets warm but so do many others with Snapdragons. Only my S6 and iPhone does not get very warm. It's a common issue with Android phones due to their hardware. The latest Snapdragons tend getting warmer than other chips. My 6P was getting very warm too. Metal is good for cooling during winter but during summer it absorbs the surrounding heat faster than other materials. The battery life is OK. Just OK nothing outstanding. I get 3 to 4h SoT indoors with WiFi and 1 to 2h SoT outside with 4G. The screen of G4 is 1440p except if I didn't understand correctly what you wrote. It's like you implied that the G4 has no QHD screen which is wrong. Overall the phone is one of the snappiest and lag free I ever had. It definitely feels more snappy than the 6P which shocked me when I bought it. The UX is OK. I find it a bit ugly and uninspired. It misses some options and features. Like settings search. The only thing that bothers me with this phone is the Bootloop issue and the absence of fingerprint reader. I will never buy OnePlus though. No official service centres in many countries and very slow Android updates. Look when they got Marshmallow. Their OS is buggy as hell. Also I will never again trust a phone with an OLED panel except from Samsung's. All non Samaung phones that have OLED tend to have weak and lower quality panels which are bad optimised. My guess is OEMs order lower grade OLED panels from Samsung to cut costs. G4 has one of the best screens I ever had. G4 and my older S6. I live in a sunny country and I had problems with many phones which were absolutely not visible during the day. For the price it is still one very good phone. Now it's dirty cheap. LG just lost their Mojo. They are trying too hard to innovate and do crazy things and lost the basics in the process.

Same, start on Apple, screw them to hell
Next, got LG, stared good, now it sucks
Moving to Samsung!
I was always trash talking sony, after buying this one I feel bad for that. I did not even know i bought a dual version until i got it :c
Now there is no unlock/root for me (bye-bye dualshock, drivedroid etc). Buy cheap, buy twice.
After a year or so, my main issue is the weak SoC.
It is really showing its age (weaker overall than 2 years old Snapdragon 805). I'm not even playing games, but using the likes of Google Photos takes its toll on the CPU and the battery drains fast.
Sometimes, it struggles to keep up with daily tasks (Google Maps, instant messaging apps, web browser, Strava, camera) : laggy, overheating.
Looking forward to the V20.

Jesus people, stop crying and make a reaserch before you gonna buy a phone. This kind of posts are on every phone forum, every single one, G4 is my 11th Android phone, I had Motorola, Sony, OPO2, OPPO, Samsung and on each forum I've seen countless posts like this. FYI - LG is a first phone that I really like after one year of using, just before I bought it I have read about unlocking bootloader, root, etc and chose it after some reaserch.

not just that mine was dead in 2 days after an official update via lg bridge. i am a poor man ... i hope lg make things right but i dont think i can afford another until i am a grand grand parent...
i have seen few htc with my friends htc m8 ithink they were they had a solid build quality and never gave a problem to them all 3 of them running cynogen i bet quality wise htc or samsung are best Huawie and chinese phones are not attrctive but have solid build quality i knw this for sure
I'm done with LG as well. I wonder if anyone from LG reads REAL communities and learn from this? Mine is battery life, while some get good life, mine is at 50% by noon and I start at 9 am, so that's not saying a lot for this phone. Of course the locked bootloader, but even more than the lock, their OS is just abysmal, why, just why?
I can't wait until the Zenfone 3 Deluxe shows up in Canada.

Oh dude, so here is what your NOT UNDERSTANDING. The H812 (Canadian Version) came shipped with Android 5.1. It DID NOT have a locked bootloader. Then one day in February we got the Magical Unicorn also knows as Marshmallow. Like many MANY other people, we updated the OTA because we just needed that battery improving upgrade, after-all Europe got this update 2 months before and are happily running the phone the way they see fit...Stock, Roms, Root, whatever. SURPRISE PHONE BOOTLOADER LOCKED UPON OTA. This has nothing to do with the actual phone itself as a functioning electronic device, this has to do with LG's GIANT FK YOU Canada.

Sorry but your point is not valid, the sellers don't tell you if its the European bootloader version or not.
I have the Singapore model so I'm stuck with what I have.

European reseller has no right to sell you Singapore version as warranty won't be valid in Europe, if you referring to some eBay sellers then you can always ask about country origin.

There must be a way to restore the bootloader . I read on some post taht a guy used a ZTE software to rewrite all phone partitions and he modified IMEI and Device ID . He did not changed bootlaoder but I think there must be a way .I will look for that post and I will post here . He explained that his phone was switching mode and appeared in his Windows Device manager like a serial COM device and he had access to all phone partitions ,about 20-30 of them .

A guy whose name is XVANKO said he found a way to unlock bootloader unofficially. He disappeared 4-5 days ago. I can't access him.. Hope he returns and tell us the unlocking method
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
"The video below shows the researcher using his app to root an Android-powered HTC phone, which is connected to a computer by a USB cable. The first ID and su commands show that the device is unrooted. After running "moo"the name of the file containing the exploit codeand then running the su and ID commands again, it's clear that the device has been rooted."

I had LG G4 for 1 year and a half, i was tierd of waiting for software fixes, Android 7 etc... The phone got worse day by day, even after factory reset. On 31 December i have switched to Moto Z, 2 days ago i got Android 7 via OTA, the phone is flowless and the camera is slightly better then G4, also the battery life is better, and dont forget that you can add modules. I will buy the Incipio pack with 2220mAh. Just read the reviews.
