Exynos N910C: recommended Android 7 builds - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for recommendations on what would be the best 7.x rom for N910C.
Any help would be really appreciated!

Well... at the moment there are no Nougat ROMs and probably Note 4 will never get such an update. I guess we may see some some extremely buggy AOSP Nougat ROMs in the future but thats it.. who knows!

we will get nougat roms and may be official nugat update

There are no N910C nougat ROMs at this moment.
Samsung wont release an offical ROM
Our best oportunity comes from the developers here, one is trying to port a nougat ROM from samsung's tablet, but that's all there it is.
Finally, Nougat was released more than 6 months ago... at one point it would be more wise for any developer to start working on android O, and forget about nougat. In that situation you will loose all hope for any new ROMs for the N910c.
Sorry, but that's the awfull truth.

I wanna try lots of mods, but do I risk with this firmware? J500FN

Hey guys, I'm currently on stock Lollipop because in my J500FN Marshmallow 6.0.1 has a RAM problem and it isn't smooth. I'd like to flash Resurrection Remix to try this beautiful rom; then I'd like to give a new try to Marshmallow in J500FN because samsung released a recent update for spain http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/113125/J500FNXXU1BPK3_J500FNOXA1BPK3_PHE/ and I hope this would solve RAM and smoothness problems. But I also read the topic that says it's not suggesteable to flash latest marshmallow firmware because I might not downgrade to lollipop; Do I risk flashing this last firmware? What do you think about?

An update wouldn't solve the ram or lag. It's about Touchwiz. No matter how many updates you get.
Touchwiz is fully bloated with Knox crap and other things (inside almost every apk). 95% J5 will be my last Samsung phone ever, just because Touchwiz.
Did you ever use cm12.1 by Nick? There's a huge difference between AOSP based rom and Touchwiz, both in performance/smoothness and ram usage/multitasking.
People say that CM battery drain faster. I agree, but remember this:
Touchwiz = lag, bad multitasking, more battery.
CM based rom = fast (I had 0 lag), awesome multitasking, less battery.
It's your choice which you use, but CM is definitely a winner for me.
As my next phone (when J5 will stop working), I want an phone which comes with AOSP, like Nexus or Moto. As far as I know, these phones has non-removable battery, which always worried me, but having AOSP is a big deal.

Yeah that's true, Touchwiz is very heavy, but other people said that Marshmallow in J500F doesn't have these perfomance/RAM problems and it is smooth. So, it also depends on how Samsung does optimizes it. Maybe with an update J500FN Marshmallow will become like 6.0.1 on J500F, who knows. Btw I'm flashing your RR right now. Do I risk if I then flash last firmware for J500F? Can I downgrade to Lollipop if I want?

I don't think you can flash J500F firmware on other model.
And I don't know if you can downgrade or not, neither. The 2-3 people which said that can't downgrade are J500H owners. Other people says that is fake.
If you believe or not, it's up to you. But i believe, considering that it happened on other Samsung phones even in past (Google, XDA).

I don't wanna flash a J500F firmware in my J500FN, lol. I just asked if with latest firmware for J500FN I couldn't downgrade to Lollipop again. If the problem occured only to J500H users I think that's fine, I'll flash latest marshmallow firmware then. Thanks buddy, check your PM one moment!

I'm currently on MM and on the latest firmware situation didn't change, RAM problems are still there and I flashed latest firmware of my country. I think i'll stay a bit here, when I'll downgrade I'll let you know if I'll be able to do that

A question for devs

Can we expect a ported touchwiz ROM of an android N any soon?

Sadly thats not gonna happen .
For android N touchwiz ported roms required note 4 Nougat kernel and note 4 will never get android n official update from samsung.:crying:
At this point only aosp android n roms are available.
There is a variant of tab s2 which has similar hardware like that of note 4. Luckily, it is getting android nougat officially.
So, we can expect a port once nougat is out for tab s2.

N9005 roms and official 7.1 builds ?

After a recent disaster with my S5 I replaced it with a Note 3 n9005.
Am very happy with the phone but it has so much potential to be better. Are there any 7.1 roms that are actively being updated and is there any chance of official builds any time soon.
I would love to put 7.1 on this phone but don't want to get stuck with bugs I have to put up with for extended periods.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Official 7 for Note 3 . No never according to Samsung .

There are always bound to be bugs when dealing with unofficial software like ports or ROMs, they're not perfect. As for an official Nougat release for a 4 year old phone that doesn't even have an official Marshmallow release? I highly doubt it. I would suggest just sticking with stock.
Thanks for the reply guys.
I know Samsung will never upgrade this phone to nougat or above but the custom rom community have done some amazing things bringing the latest versions of android to older phones when their manufacturers stop supporting them to make you buy their latest an greatest phone.
When I asked about official builds I was referring to Resurrection Remix or Lineage LOS 7.1 builds which get weekly updates. There will always be bugs I know but weekly builds help to fix them.

If I may suggest, I would try out a Note 7 port. I know it's not Nougat but in my opinion, Marshmallow with the Note 7 features is just as good and a lot of people have tested them out and are really stable. But as for more Nougat ROMs, RR and Lineage I think are the only options but I haven't tried them myself.
There is an official Note 5 Nougat rom out, so it should be possible to port that. We just have to wait for someone with the knowledge and interest to do it.
I'm running the Note 7 Phronesis Marshmellow rom, and I highly recommend it if you don't want to wait for a Nougat rom.

Thank you am currently trying the Phronesis Rom N7 v5.2 and am liking it very much very smooth and seems very stable.
And if i'm reading the forum correctly there should be a V6 version becoming available in the next couple of days.
thanks for the recommendation this rom will do very nicely until or if someone ports the N5 nougat rom which we can only hope for.

Is it possible to downgrade Nexus?

I'm now using Android Oreo, but I'm considering installing unofficial Android system to my Nexus. I'd like to try Android Oreo or android Nougat. But the thing is I'm afraid that my phone may be laggy or buggy.
According to the post for Nougat port, the camera doesn't work well on the system.
So I'm wondering if I can downgrade to my Android Lollipop in case I can't stand the new system.
Thanks!
You can switch ROMs back and forth at any time, just make sure you make backups and always do a clean flash. Custom ROMs are always a subject to bugs so go for the most stable one you can find which would be Lineage OS.

There are many rock stable Nougat ROMs available for mako and you can easily find them on xda. Even some of the Oreo ROMs are stable enough to be daily drivers...
And yes, you can downgrade or upgrade the versions as you wish (that's the benefit of having a Nexus phone, isn't it?)

Well CM14, or LineageOS 14, does exist for our devices. However, the developer for it was not able to get the sim card from our devices to work so he halted development. It may be possible to get the sim card to work, but I don't even know of a solution for that.

see i dont have any problem if they just bring noguat to us .. i dont need much .. my main issue with the stock rom is DPI , if you change it a lot of mistakes will appear for example dialer and camera , toggles in notification will be small and just 5 in each row ,, like these mistake , and in the end magisk systelmless root
