Twrp help - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i made a backup of my stock rom but when I go into restore I can't see any folders on any drive. If I click on file Explorer I can see them and also when I click on install. How can I restore by backup? Thanks.

Hi, what is your TWRP version, 3.0.2.1 ?

i agree with the previous post, what version of twrp are you using? 3.0.2-1 sometimes wont find 3.0.2 nands. Let us know, and we can probably help unless they got deleted, in which case its gone. But if that happens, you can always download the stock tarball from sammobile.com/firmwares
also, what S5 variant are you using?

I see a "return to stock" guide on that page. Thanks, but I'm looking for just the Recovery - not the entire ROM.
You can find it here http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2
just check your version.

Downloaded the TOT file. I'm guessing the Recovery image is in it somewhere. I'm looking for JUST a Recovery zip.

THANK YOU, Sir.
Update:
Having trouble with Flashify. It doesn't see a recovery image, I guess. I tried putting the zip file, the extracted folder, AND the single file into Flashify's Recovery folder. No go. It doesn't see a file to flash for some reason. Am I doing something wrong?
Single file would be the way to go. No clue, have never actually used it. Just backed it up. Sorry. Maybe just may work for me. Shouldn't you be able to remove from a tot or extracted kdz bin?
Reverting to stock recovery in order to accept OTA updates ...
For anyone trying to apply any OTA updates, e.g., from Verizon, after modding your phone, restoring back to your previous version and wanting to go back to stock (for WHATEVER reason):
As you may have found out, trying to apply OTA updates with a custom recovery seemingly bricks your phone (it doesn't really, there are some nifty "dd" Linux commands you can use to get your phone to break out of the boot-loop it's stuck in).
Since I went back to my previously backed up stock ROM, I also wanted to revert to my stock recovery so that I could accept Verizon's OTA updates (if only because the popup reminders are annoying and a drain of the battery).
Here are the steps I followed, thanks to this thread:
- I downloaded the recovery.img from the link in Partager.info's post (#4) (choose the model subfolder which corresponds to your variant of the G2).
- I used "adb push" to copy the file from my computer to /sdcard (good to have on the sdcard partition as the rest get blown away when you flash a ROM)
- I installed "Flashify (for root users)" (found in the Play Store) on my phone
- I ran Flashify and chose the stock recovery file I downloaded which was in the /sdcard folder as expected (no need to put image files in specific folders; whatever works best for you)
- It flashed it in a blink of the eye and asked me to reboot; I did and it's worth mentioning I got the Android with the triangle (*clench*)
- I held the power button and forced it to shut down/reboot
- Upon reboot, I saw the Verizon boot animation (*unclench*)
- I checked for an update from Verizon and it prompted me to reboot and apply it; I clicked "Install now"
- It successfully rebooted and applied the update; what a relief to see the firmware update splash screen
Pfew. Thanks again, Partager.info and Steamer86.

[Q] LG-G2 D800 LGG2 Recovery Problems

I bought a phone pre rooted and everything. It was nice, but the problem is I am having trouble changing the recovery on the phone.
For a long time I had TWRP 2.6.3.4. I could not flash any recovery over it. I was finally able to flash TWRP 2.6.3.1 using the same method to get TWRP. At that point I'm still not able to flash a recovery over TWRP.
I just discovered "flashify" tonight where I had flashed the CWR image for the d800. Now I can't even boot into recovery. It acts like I have non. I can boot into android no-problem though.
When I use "flashify" or "Recovery Tools" they claim I still have TWRP 2.6.3.1.

Can someone please help me.
I too tried flashing CWM over TWRP using Flashify, but it didn't work, it still said I had TWRP. However, Flashify did work to revert back to Stock Recovery.
I still have the backup file of the Stock Recovery, I can upload it somewhere if you want to, then maybe you can install CWM.
I have a D802 myself, not sure if my backup would work with your D800 though. but if you're adventurous...

I was able to get back a version of TWRP following this: http://theunlockr.com/2013/11/03/flash-custom-recovery-lg-g2-versions-video/
Still don't know why I can't get other recoveries like CWR or why almost all versions of CM will fail to flash using TWRP
EDIT
I miss read you post. I thought you had a copy of TWRP. Go ahead and send the the stock recovery as that's one thing I have yet to try..

Well now I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Even for custom recoveries there are different files to download for D800 and D802. I don't think my backup would be compatible with your variant.
If you want CM, try flashing Official Nightlies. I've heard they are stable. I flashed CM11 Nightly with TWRP 2.6.3.4 just fine. You can grab it for D800 here.

Mine never works. I think its a MD5 error or something. I can only get one version of CM running and I think it's 10.2, I assume my whole phone is just messed up. Not being able to flash CM or recoveries.
Try going back to stock and starting over? Did you by chance take the 10o ota? That seems to be causing issues for others.

Is there a windows software out there that can bring me to stock sort of like the NexusToolkit for Nexus devices.

I'm currently running CyanogenMod "10.2.0-d800", there is no "Software Information" or "Version"
Recovered back to Clean ROM 2.0
Software version: d80210b
EDIT:
Using this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468858
I was able to get CWM.
So far I've come to the conclusion. The only way to change recoveries is through the PC and not from the phone it's self
Found it, nevermind

You can always grab a copy of your firmware from sammobile, along with Odin in case you delete anything you shouldn't.
Titanium Backup is my preference for backing up system apps while removing bloatware
I could use your help

Is there a Pure Nougat TWRP Backup?

I am looking for a stock Nougat TWRP Backup. I am searching the forums and all I can find is TWRP backups for other regions. I am currently running the Retla Nougat.
Can anyone post a TWRP Backup or link me to a post where one could be found?
System, boot are the same.
Twrp can't backup baseband.
So...
You can restore any Nougat.
...
Somewhere was N for fastboot.

Thanks dzidexx. I already used a 1572 restore for my 1575. However, it's not perfect and many 1575 users are having issues with the using the restore from other regional versions.
Restore backup for update is very bad idea. It is only system partition, rest you have MM.
Use flashfire app u will see how much.
