wasn't sure if this belongs here or under Accessories since its more of in internal part and not like a case sorry. I broke my screen , replaced it went to put it back together and can't find my vibration motor.. Kept everything even broken screen till parts came in to put back together. Went to order a new one and no one has any, they only seem to cost a few bucks when they have them in stock. Or eBay is selling used ones for like 20 bucks. Can anyone help? I would like a new one for a few bucks in stock, or buy a new one that will fit (even if its for wrong phone) and make my own wire harness for it.
Thanks

Dropped my phone last night. The FIRST time I have dropped it too... Anyways, two cracks running through the screen have limited my touch screen capabilities significantly... I have alltel and no insurance. What are the chances of getting a new one?!?! Also, if i find the parts how easy would it be to replace???
The USB port on my out of warranty Mogul broke and I had no insurance. I was sweating the cost and that I had an unofficial ROM on the phone. The rep at the Sprint repair ctr didn't even turn on the Mogul when I explained the problem. It was swapped out with a new unit (not refurb) for $35. I got the feeling that the failed port is so common that they don't even bother to check it. If my screen was cracked, she wouldn't have known (and for all I know, it might have been $35 for a broken screen anyway). Now this was Sprint not Alltel, so ymmv. I would take it in, play dumb and see what they will do for you. Swapping out a screen on this phone will be far from easy!
replace
buy just the screen + digitizer off ebay its like 50 bucks. i have already replaced mine twice. i suggest you buy a precision screw driver that matches the phones screws so you dont strip them. like 6 buxks at home depot
example: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LCD-TOUCH-S...VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
not sure if this comes with the digitizer but yours may still be fine
I think I need a new ribbon cable. For about a week my screen would turn off when I slid it open. Then about two days ago when i closed it it would flicker and if i wigled the front of it it would stay on. Now sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesn't. I tried to kinda peek in between the two parts and it looks like the ribbon has a crack in it about half of the cables thickness. I called the htc service and repair number for tmobile phones and the guy on the line said that the average price to repair that would be about 70 bucks. Should I try to find the cable and replace it myself (I dont have alot of skills opening phones although I did change the LCD in my nokia 5300) or should I just send it in? Any other choices recomended? Final question, does anybody know where i could get that ribbon cable? Any help is appreciated. I hope I explained my situation well enough. Thanks again!

well i would call tmobile and have them send u another phone they would be able to replace it i just had mine replaced for like 20 bucks
I probably should have mentioned the phone was purchased used off of craig's list so I dont think i can get any warranty out of tmobile...
i would call anyways it cant hurt to find out if anything ***** for like 30-45 mins and say u cancel ur contract and they will send u another one immeadtly lol
I dont think they'll give in. They didnt even wanna sell me insurance for it! I'll try later just for the fun of it...
I called. They said there is nothing they can do. Oh well. Guess I might have to go through the htc repair... I hope its not too pricey
you miight have to pay like 50-75 dollars
Yea I have similar problems... I would buy it a SquareTrade but in order to do that you have to have bought it off ebay... So I would have a friend "sell" it to you via ebay (at the desired insurance price). Then buy a ST plan on it that covers accidental damage and your phone will be under full warranty... Do your reading thou.

I would looooooooove one of those -- I'd gladly pay $50 for it
I Like the DEV Phones Glossy Keyboard, looks good on it. Although that does mean smudges out of this world lol. Have you looked into getting that design inscribed on the back of your cover?
Concerning back covers.
I have already ordered one from HTC to replace my grey one with a black one. Unfortunately they didnt have the white UK one. Why not order a replacement for 15 dollars and have it sent out and painted? I am sure it can't be more than 50 dollars when finished.

Finally? This was posted at least one week ago. They don't seem to answer my emails so I don't know what to think. I find the replacements very expensive as well specially the digitizer. Personally find it very hard to wreck the LCD without wrecking the digitizer, which in that case will be very expensive to replace, over 360$. And that's if you replace the parts yourself.
Oh well It's good someone has these replacements parts but the screen has been on Ebay for much less, still no sign of the digitizer.
Sorry my phone has been out of commission for a while and decided to check the other day for parts and ran up on them. Decided to post the links...Oh well. I bought my bro's broken g1 for 50 bucks and put his screen in mine. Not sure what is wrong with his goes straight to the recovery mode and some keys dont work.
No problem. Good you managed to open the internals of your device. I can't remove the housing from the back.
Is it hard to take the g1 apart and put it back together. I scratched the housing and was thinking bout getting a replacement and transferring everything. But im scared i might mess sumthing up.

Probably not difficult for someone who has opened a lot of phones. This is my first time.
That sounds like a ripoff to me. You can get a decent 22" LCD for that price.

G1 Replacement Window Lens Digitizer Price Lowered
It looks like they heard you. I just checked it out and the Window Lens Glass with Touch Screen Digitizer is now available by itself and it is much cheaper. Check it out http://www.cellulardr.com/G1Digitizer.htm
I saw the videos on how to fix it yourself, im not sure if i would be able to do it. Well my friend cracked the screen and HTC charged 185 to fix it for him. But i have smashed the screen and the housing also (btw, Ford Explorer ran over it)im sure it would be 250 or something. Im not sure if its worth spending so much money on this phone.
Phone is turning on and works fine, i can even get calls but can't pick the calls as touch screen won't work. Just the glass and housing needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know any repair shop in NY or any place which would be cheaper than HTC? Thnx guys,
ouch. That's painful to even look at. I'm no expert or anything, but i think if a heavy SUV ran over it then it must have crunched the components on the inside. I'd say it's not worth it because you can find a used one for around the same price (probably)
Well amazingly its a sturdy phone, its ringing when someone calls me, its getting the text msgs, alarm went on in the mrng. Everything seems to be fine, besides the touch interface not working and of course physical damage.
Need to find one with a dead or faulty motherboard then do a swap job. Would not want to pay repair centre cost but worth doing yourself if can find a cheap donor device ...

Well i did find the housing for $20+ online and glass with digitizer for around 90 on ebay (US Seller). Its just that its too much work and probability of messing it up is very high
You need a whole device as donor really as I suspect you will find a few less than perfect parts & having a spare of everything will prove invaluble & also allow you to recoup some cost by selling unwanted parts individually.
Only worth it if can pick up a real cheap bricked HD2.
Full strip & rebuild is not too hard, most horrors are people stripping touch & LCD panels or those who strip the device like a hungry bear opening a jar of honey. A bit of knowledge & a delicate touch is a must on HD2.
I smashed mine a few months back sold it on xda for £120 and bought a mint condition used one for £190 on ebay
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
There are assembly and dis-assembly guides for HD2 if you search around...you can also get parts for cheap on eBay, So if you have lot of time you can repair it for yourself
Ive been living with a stupid freaking blackberry style for the past 2 months. I CANT TAKE IT ANYMOREEEE I want my evo back sooo badly but no matter what I do to repair, nothing works. I have been working on this for a while now.
3 digitizers and lcd's have been used. My problem right now is that i believe that the digitizer port is somehow messed up. The annoying thing is that sometimes, randomly, the digitizer/touch panel will work and the phone will work perfectly. Which is what happened a couple of days ago after i finally got a new lcd after some wait and everything was going perfect until it happened again. What happens is that in hboot i get a touch panel fail, the phone will not boot past splash, and recovery is inacessible. If i remove the digitizer cable altogether it will boot and it will let me go to recovery. I have tried the 2 others i have and rarely, one will work.
You guys have ANY ideas? I tried cleaning with 91 alcohol and that didnt help.
PLEASEEEE I miss my 3 year old child.
EDIT and yes i am up at 4 like i have been to fix my evo
ebay.
i know fixing it by hand is a path you have gone a long way down and if that's something fun for you (and I realize it is for some) by all means keep on going down that path.
but times have changed from the days when evos were $450 on ebay.
now you will probably pay less for a mint condition clean esn evo than you would for all the parts you described, to say nothing of the value of your time.
i have personally repaired front speakers, rear speakers, camera lenses and digitizers/LCD assemblies, just about everything but the vibrator. i once loved tearing apart evos. but now i just buy evos whole.
intermittent connection problems are the worst. do you really want to spend more late nights fighting this thing? craigslist, ebay, swappa, whatever. get this behind you.
100% what NxNW said.
If it is in fact the connector on the board, then this will be no fun at all. The solder points on that are far too much work AND risk for the reward. Although, you can find a good board, just the board alone. Same part# as the one you got and just exchange whatever it needs, if anything. But it really is better to ebay the whole device. I got one for under $12 that needed a new charge port. Another buck and some soldering and BOOM.

You guys are right; just looked on ebay and theirs mobo's on here auctioning with no bids. 20$ for a fully functional one? Ill take it!
Thanks for the advice
my very quick survey of recent "completed auctions" for plausible looking phones with clean ESN's shows the current price for a non-janky Evo you could just activate and use as-is is around $60
i am seeing a range of $40 to $100 depending on whether it is in below average condition on the low end, or pristine condition plus some accessories on the high end.
basically 60 bucks for a ready-to-go evo with just a battery, no charger or usb cable, possibly no sd card.
a lot of auctions with reserve prices of $70 and higher are closing with the seller not getting any bids that meet the reserve.
on the flip side if you are "winning" an auction at $20, that phone is just "for parts".
actually i have bought phones described as "for parts" that *already* had parts harvested from it (usually the USB/charing port). sometimes you just get a picked-over carcass.
if the description doesn't *say* clean ESN, it's not. i even had to send back an evo once because the ESN was bad even though the seller said it was ok. they refunded my money claiming someone *else* told them it was clean. whatever. ebay can be a hassle but there's an endless supply of cheap clean evos out there, you just have to be observant.
If the seller is in your area, I would also HIGHLY suggest meeting them in person at a Sprint store to activate it on your line. I have seen dozens of posts in the S3 forums recently about people getting stuck with a blacklisted phone because the seller reported it stolen after selling it to them. So beware.

The one for 20 said it was in fully functional form. I only need a phone for a couple more months. Unfortunately, i forgot to bid before the auction ended I need to get better at ebay lol
