Hi,
I have another issue after the OS upgrade to Mashmallow 6.0.1, it loses the GPS signal every now and then for no reason, so I wasn't able to navigate using google map or waze or other location based Apps. I have to turn the Location setting off and on again a few times, sometimes it took a while, before I get back the GPS.
There is no lack of GPS signals in the area as my other devices are functioning properly. I have been using the phone for more than a year without such issues, started with kitkat then Lollipop, but as soon as I upgrade to Mashmallow the 2 major issues surfaced!
Any advice on how to fix this?
Same for me on my A3 2016 (6.0.1) On A310FXXU2BPG6
GPS signal is lost shortly after starting Google maps or Waze
:crying:

hello,
i have a dutch galaxy s4 9505 which i have used with joy for over one year.
only consistent problem is with tomtom use.
after one hour of using it, it will lose the gps fix and it will not come back until i restart the gps service and/or tomtom.
when trying to continue with google maps, also no gps fix is found.
the surroundings are always different, open air so reception should be good.
im still running android 4.3, disabling the software update service for the 442 update (im happy with using the application permission manager and do not want to re-install my tomtom.)
what could cause my gps fix to be lost after one hour?
Hi.
I've recently upgraded my i9500 to 4.4.2 (stock XXUFNC2).
Everything works since the update except for GPS. I've tried plenty of "solutions"; AGPS Data, resetting it, etc. I'm positive I'm on the correct server for my region. The issue is the awful satellite signal I'm receiving. It "freezes" and loses signal every 2 seconds or so and I'm unable to drive with that. What do you guys suggest?
Hi All,
As per the title, my GPS is not working when using navigation mode in Google Maps or Waze. It always says searching for GPS. Waze cannot lock onto a GPS signal either.
I'm using a stock Nexus 6P with the latest patch. My sister using a stock Nexus 6 is also having the same issues.
Doing a quick search on twitter has also found other users having the same issues on a number of different devices so i think a recent update of some sort may have killed it.

I've tried a factory reset etc.
same issue here, when I tried to revert back to 6.01 it's still failing
Same here in Pokemon-go.
Hello!
I have LG Spirit 4G LTE H440N
Location is not working, when I turn off data or not being registered in any network after update to v6.0.1. With v5.0.1 things were kind of fine, laggy sometimes, but overall it was working and now with the same apps with preloaded maps it doesn't work at all. Here's what I've done:
- GPS test app locates good amount of satellites "In View" instantly, but it's always 0 "In Use" with no fix;
- This phone was already two times in warranty repairs (both only because of the problem described here), both times HW was changed. First time they changed some part, don't know what that was, but second time it was mainboard, I have a different IMEI now. Warranty is still ON.
- Tried to use GPS in offline with Samsung Galaxy phone, and it works there on Marshmallow.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
I'm using Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (serranoltexx) running LineageOS 14.1 since 2018. Some time ago I'm experiencing such a strange problem with GPS fix. GPS chip can find satellites quickly with a strong signal (4 and more satellites) but can't get stable GPS fix. It may get GPS fix for a few seconds and then I need to wait again for the next GPS fix. It means that GPS fix is unstable. I can see the same behavior in any app for example gpstest.
Could you please give me advice how to troubleshoot this issue with the poor GPS fix?
In the logcat I can see the following entries after the GPS fix is losing:
Code:
04-17 21:32:48.092 598 1063 E LocSvc_ApiV02: W/virtual int LocApiV02::setGpsLock(unsigned int):3033]: Set engine lock failed. status: eLOC_CLIENT_SUCCESS, ind status:eQMI_LOC_ENGINE_BUSY_V02
04-17 21:34:08.358 598 1063 E LocSvc_ApiV02: W/virtual int LocApiV02::setGpsLock(unsigned int):3033]: Set engine lock failed. status: eLOC_CLIENT_FAILURE_INVALID_PARAMETER, ind status:eQMI_LOC_SUCCESS_V02
I'm tying to understand if this problem is related to the software defect i.e. LineageOS 14.1 or to the hardware - maybe GPS chip is almost dead. Also tried to Google these but no luck. I would not like to change the phone with no reason because it's very compact and handy. Thank you in advance.
Another question do we have here happy users who are still using S4 mini devices and not complaining on GPS performance with the lineage-14.1-20180624-nightly-serranoltexx-signed image?
I have the same problem Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (serranoltexx) with LineageOS 14.1. After repairing GPS it works briefly and then stops using GPS satellites even though it shows that it has found several 15 or more, but it does not get stable data from any.
I solved this problem on the software level. First I discovered that GPS fix is getting pretty fast when the phone in airplane mode. Then I replaced my SIM card. But this was useless in this case because the problem has been fixed finally after upgrading the Real Time GPS tracker application. I think that due to the software bug in this 3rd party application my GPS chip went crazy. Now seems all works good as before. I have tested it already for a few weeks.
That's good to know. So I'm going to look for which of my applications using GPS can do this a problem.
Thanks you
The problem is back from time to time. Sometimes rebooting of the device is needed to get the stable GPS fix.
GPS chip in this device supports GLONASS. But when I'm using GPS Test application I never saw that GLONASS satellites are really connected.
Can anyone confirm that GLONASS is working on these devices?
[ROM][I9190/I9192/I9195/L520/R890][Unofficial][11.0.0] LineageOS 18.1 for S4 Mini
Upgrade has solved all problems with GPS that I had. Even GLONASS is now working what was never worked in 14.1.
