Priv root: done?! - BlackBerry Priv

Just got this link from a friend, any candidates to try?
I believe its full of **** and its a generic page with different phone names just for click baiting.
No chance to write a so called guide without mentioning the firmware version (att/regular) nor the android version.
mod edit: link removed

I do not think this works lol

Why do you post the link then? REMOVE IT!

The thread got closed since the linked website is obviously scam.

One click rooting method in less than 2 minutes

Root your phone without unlocking the bootloader. How? A new application called UnlockRoot does it all for you! Literally, all you need to do is download the UnlockRoot.exe, run it and enjoy your new rooted device. I can confirm that it is 100% working and took about 2 minutes from start to finish.
All you have to do is connect to your computer, enable USB debugging which is accessible through Settings>applications>devlopment>USB debugging
open UnlockRoot.exe and click root, after that it should take the comp. 1 min tounlock then 1 min to reboot then voila you have it rooted! You will then see the superuser app inside your app drawer. I recommend you to download busybox and titanium backup to have full control on your device. I've just rooted my xperia play and my wife's arc s using method. Both of them are running v2.3.4 so this should work on lower versions.
If there will be an instance wherein your device didn't reboot automatically, manually restart your device.

I checked out the site and it doesnt say compatible with Xperia PLAY or any SE phones for that matter. Plus I am already rooted and unlocked bootloader. The site looks a little questionable like maybe the software could be virus filled. I dont know though. Only way to find out would be to try it, and for that I have no reason to. IT show support for the Kindle Fire. Anyone try it?

Even if it does work, this sort of thing shouldn't be allowed. Just trying to promote your own site.

It's put out by AnTuTu, the same people who do CPU Master. They have a link in the newest version of their app.
Probably uses exact same exploits as superoneclick

First of all that is not my site and i'm not a spammer. I only posted this method in two different forums, the other one is in the android general hacking tips. The only reason why i mentioned the site is because i'm having problems uploading the unlockroot.exe launcher in this thread. As you can see,i'm only a new member and i don't usually start threads. I'm just trying to help because i had a lot of frustrations using other rooting methods. I have a descent job and i'm not gonna benefit in spamming so don't accuse me. I just felt very excited to share this method as this worked like a charm for my xperia play. I'm not forcing you to try this so ban me if you feel like doing so.

I noticed that too but trust me,it worked for my xperia play and my wife's arc s. Both of them are running the latest android v2.3.4 that's why i'm very surprised that it worked. Other rooting methods didn't work for that version so i resorted to doomlord's method but i'm having problems installing the adb drivers as i'm using windows7. I'm so happy using this method because it's very safe,no need to unlock your bootloader. Best regards!

I already uploaded the direct link to the file so you can shut your mouth now. I've been itching to do that right from the start but this site won't allow me because i need to have at least 8 posts before i can attach external link. You're a senior member so you should've known that, think first before accussing me a spammer.

I'm curious, why not post directly to their site, instead of a link to a file host?
No, offense, but if you post directly to their home site, it makes it seem a lot more legit than just posting a link to your download account.

Sorry bro but i already did that when i started this thread. I just edited my post because that d31boy guy is accussing me of being a spammer and just promoting that site.
When I see a brand new poster posting a link to relatively unknown website for use of an unknown exe file, it's hard not to be suspicious. I mean, you obviously know the benefits of root and you know your way around this site. The site has absolutely no mention of how the root is applied (which isn't your fault provided you don't have an affiliation to the site ). It's a pretty big leap of faith.
However, I may have jumped in a bit too quick on this one. It would have been better just to report the post and allow a mod to make a more informed decision. For that, I apologise.
All this method is, is the zergRush method with a different name...
Here's what I did (quick run thought of what i did, attached screenshot for reference)
Downloaded it from the OP's post (http://unlockroot.com was running at 2000BYTES/SEC)
Installed it on my XP partition
rebooted, went to my linux partition
Mounted XP Partition
went to \Program Files\Unlockroot\tools\
Copied rootutility to /home/myusername/
adb shell rm -r /data/local/tmp
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
adb push rootutility /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/rootutility
adb shell /data/local/rootutility
and got the attachment

[PRO] guide to update to ICS for noobs

Hey guys. First off, I am not from the xperia community so don't flame me if I dont know where to post this. There isn't a xperia pro thread and I saw something about the pro in the Arc thread so I decided to post this here. I am just helping out a friend. So here it is. He asked me how to update the Pro to stock ICS. With some back and forth between us, I think I have given him the answer. Please tell me if this guide ( well, its not really a guide just links to the guide) is good, or if we have to do something else. Thank You.
HERE IT IS:
Ok...well lets sort things out.
I see where you got the file from: http://xperiadev.wordpress.com/flashing/xperia-ftf-firmwares/ which is the mirrored link from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682185
But, if you clicked on the source in the page you sent me, you'll go http://www.XPERIA.cz/ which eventually would get you to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1651463 ( this I think is where there is an update.zip as someone mentioned about it)
The ftf file needs Flashtool - http://xperiadev.wordpress.com/guidelines-xperia/flashtool-fastboot/ to be flashed.
And done.
I got all of that from the link you sent me. For the flashtool method, I think the reason it say you MAY void warranty is because the amount of customization that program has.
I keep seeing all this talk about Emma, so on Sony's website I found this PDF ( in attachments)
DUDE, IF YOU MAKE SENSE OF ALL OF THIS YOU ARE GOOD.
FROM SONY, therefore official:
Now from big daddy themselves, http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239 That site give good information. Follow that site on how to use flashtool. And see, you could also root, but don't. Not yet. This site is from Sony and thing, so remember to read everything. They mentioned taking out your sim and sd which I say is smart. The only thing is that they mentioned something about Sony Update Service -http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/ "your wish if you want to stay on it but i suggest you to repair your phone software using SUS. It will reinstall the original ICS software in your mobile For that download SUS and follow the onscreen instructions SONY UPDATE SERVICE"
So yeah read everything I have here and lets go,
How I will do it? Well, I would ignore everything else and follow Sony's method. Its the same thing, but seeing how they explained how to do it, it'll be easier.
How To Update Your Xperia to Android 4.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crcwr9BAtjU
Follow this video. It is really good. Lol, as a side note, I knew this guy was trini the time I heard him.
Anything else, just ask. So remember, read everything. But I say watch the video before going to Sony's guide.
The video is very good, so if you have any advance question leave him a question in the comment section in his video and he could help you. Not now, but when you wanna root, make an xda account on xda developers. You can ask questions, create a thread and give input there.
PS. The reason I didn't know about the ftf file is because it is only for Sony devices and I never had experienced with them.
OK, so remember, I am an HTC Amaze user not an xperia user so I'm a noob in Sony's phone, per-se.

Why would this get locked? He's asking for a file that really should be publicly available. All the other images to the other Nexus devices are available to download freely.

Disagree, the dev forum is for things that people created themselves. This is a file created by google and it really should be available. I don't see a sticky there with the original files, and even if there were they've been pulled from the official google site.
OP: my upload to dropbox failed for some reason. Someone linked a google docs folder with what looks like the right file but I'll shoot you a PM anyway.

[APP/Share] Official Facebook Lite 1.0.0.0.0

This app isn't available on the United States app store, and is only available in some countries, however the functionality of the app is flawless if you manage to side load it. I personally would target this at people who feel like myself, that the regular Facebook app was simply bogged down and very slow.
For countries that support it the official link :

I don't have the change log now but I do remember reading. Nothing major, few bug fixes, enhancements to the amount of data used. Worth upgrading to, sure. But probably not a game changer.
Guys, did anyone managed to get the latest version? Version 1.4 is already out on 2nd of February and I am eager to give it a try.

Galaxy Amp Prime rooting??? (Sm-j320az)

I'm sorry this is the wrong device. There is no section for this device and I can't find information for this device anywhere!! I was wondering if there is a method for rooting a galaxy amp prime (sm-j320az). A guide would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance I figured there is way smarter people than me out there!!
+1
I'm guessing that the Amp Prime probably hasn't gotten much attention in terms of rooting since it's a fairly new model and it's only available through Cricket. However, I know quite a few people with this phone who would would greatly appreciate seeing it rooted. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on the situation.
so far I found another thread on gsmhosting that has one guy who said they found a way to enable adb but he doesn't really have a guide and this was just posted yesterday. Hopefully someone else on here can use that and post a guide or a video if this helps on rooting the amp prime.
Since I'm a new user, I can't post links yet but the forum thread is called "Galaxy Amp Prime SM-J320AZ FRP bypass done" It is the second one when you google this. The first one shows up as a .link site and looks really strange but the second one for me is a forum . gsmhosting . com site

I agree!! It would be nice if someone would make a tutorial because honestly even just that post is a little confusing to me. Does that command get entered through command prompt with adb? If so what exactly do you do from there?
I found another link that says to use Samsung Tool PRO in order to unlock. You can find the link by googling "SM-J320AZ without root" and it was the first link for me. Hopefully soon I'll be able to post the link directly but for now this will have to do
