So far I hard reset my phone 2x to get it working because my 2nd screen won't stay on after main screen is off. I do even get notifications. I have the settings to stay on. .. not sure what's going in with phone...even my quick charging stopped working. Miss my note 4

Mine goes off if the phone isn't being used. I think it's normal.

Make sure you're not covering the ambient light sensor on your phone. It's right in the upper left hand corner next to the front camera. (To test, with the main screen off and second screen on, If you cover the sensor with your finger on a normally working V20, after a few seconds the second screen should shut off.)
So my guess is if you're sure your Settings are set up correctly, you probably have a faulty or miscalibrated ambient light sensor on your device that's shutting the second screen off, and you should either find a way to re-calibrate the sensor or get your device replaced.

Same here, what's latest update?
Hi man, I've been searching thru forums all day. Basically, I have the same issues, 1. Not fast charging (only usb-charging) 2. Second screen off when screen is off (despite the settings are set not to)
I'm on the edge of hard factory reset with very limited hopes and my ultimate guess is this is a motherboard issue.
Have you been able to fix yours?
Second screen stays off.!
Yesterday, I was working to upgrade the apps, and install some missing bloated apps by LG Electronics ltd. through the web server, i.e. apkmirror and I don't know exactly what happened. My LG V20 (LS997) Second screen stays off just apparently showing with dark ambient display that is useless at all. The display only shows with media contents by setting up with 'More' as well, and not work even all.
Fixed!! I had the same problem when every time I enabled second screen it would disappear. After looking everywhere I was able to fix it by going to the battery saver settings and pressing on the 'battery saver' option under 'power saving'. Then press 'edit mode'. Make sure 'block use of second screen' is unchecked. That should stop it from being disabled.

Get lightflow from the play store and you should be able to get that working

I tried Light Flow but without root it won't work. Not sure if there will be a future update for this, but I certainly hope they add it with a security patch OTA soon.
Update: I tried another app called light manager led and that app work perfectly. If light flow does not work for you, then try light manager.
I've tried both Light Flow and Light Manager, but they both keep activating the Ambient Display every few seconds.
Anyone aware of an LED app that doesn't have these issues?
hi
i also noticed from first day this issue with my phone. I keep googling it to see if it is something wrong with my phone or it is just the way nexus 6p was designed. When I charge my phone (with the phone being completely off) the does not change color neither for "charging" nor for "full charged". It;s annoying as I never know when the phone is full charged in order to disconnect.

This is normal for both Nexus devices. My 5X is exactly the same way out of the box. The LED does not light up to show as connected to charger or fully charged.

I don't think I tried Pro, but if you turn Ambient Display off then it won't affect it anyway. It's when you turn ambient display on and use the programs that it keeps appearing.
Edit: Yep, tested again with the Pro version. Ambient Display keeps coming on every few seconds.

If you are using light flow, disable the option that allows light flow to turn on the screen, I believe its called 'Device Admin' under general settings.
If that doesn't work, then nothing will probably work to allow ambient display and any LED manager to work without conflicting each other, as they both use the same resources.
I also had the issue with no indicator LED while charging on my Nexus 6p with Light Manager & ambient display.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Light Manager app and now it works again.:good:
Question is now for how long?

Don't forget that you also need to activate the features by going into your settings menu and enabling the ability to have the device use led displays. You can download and use any light manager you want, but until you enable the feature on the device itself, none of the apps will work.
As of this post here are the instructions for enabling the led light display to work:
1. Go to settings
2. Select the Notifications settings
3. Tap the gear (settings) icon in the upper right corner.
4. Enable "pulse notification light"
5. Open the light manager app of your choice (I prefer light manager - LED settings)
6. Set the app to your preference
7. Reboot device
8. Profit
Hope this helps resolve any issues you have
My phone screen would turn on to show the clock only over a black background when let's say I throw in on the bed or put down "not gently". Does this happen to everyone or is this a feature Google added?

yes, you can turn off that feature... Settings-Display-Turn off Ambient Display.
that's cool that this setting can be turned off, but with the setting turned on mine does it without even moving. I set it down, it does the screen/clock thing, turns off, then just keeps doing it what seems randomly. Anyone figure have that problem?
An app could be causing that behaviour. In my case I found it was LightFlow, I uninstalled it and no more strange behaviour from the Ambient Display.

I get this too! I want ambient display set to on (so when I pick the phone up, I can quickly see the time, without unlocking it) but I don't understand why when it is flat and still, there is this random, intermittent screen clock thing

I had the same issue with Lightflow. Using Light Manager now.
I've noticed having notifications will have the screen coming on every few seconds even though the phone is not being moved. Had this happen on my Nexus 6 as well.
If my phone is flat, facing up, and I walk near it or wave my hands over it, the screen turns on. Not sure if this is an Android MM issue or a setting within the phone but I want to turn that off. Any ideas?
Turn it off? It's such a great feature that Google straight up ripped it off from Moto...
Bit anyways...open the "Moto" app and look under gestures

LOL, it spooks the sh1t out of me. Like its on the desk next to me while I'm working and I'll look at it and its like "oh, you must want to know the time".
its one of the main features of this phone and its predecessors, and a big reason why myself and others would buy a motorola phone . Its called ambient display and it takes the place of a notification light by turning on at regular intervals when you have a notification like a text message. It will also turn on when you get close, or when you pull it out of your pocket, so you can see if you have any notifications or just check the time. since its an AMOLED screen, its only turns on the pixels of the white font, and any black area is "off", so it doesnt completely wake your device every time and kill your battery. its a very useful feature and i would suggest giving it a shot. if you get used to it, its super handy
Moto gestures are one of my main reasons to get a moto device. That and I can have nice hardware without Touchwiz. Love the 3500mah battery in my force.
I've made sure I've turned off ambient display, but my phone's screen keeps turning on (black and white) when I pick up or nudge the phone. How can I completely disable this feature?
In the settings menu there is a option for "gestures" inside there is the option to turn off lift to check phone. That'll do it.

Noticed that light sensor of my phone doesn't work well. Every time when I put it in a pocket my phone continues to live and click buttons I don't want to click. When I close all sensors by hand screen doesn't turn off. And it is going on wihout any connection to related option in display settings. How to fix this?
