Root is for T-Mobile. Anything else still being worked on.
As far as hotspot goes should have to just add dun to the APN settings like normal.
Hotspot shouldn't be a issue with root

dun is the hotspot access. if its in your downloaded apn it means the system will allow you to enable it(instead of saying you are not subscribed)
Ah. Ok thanks. My contract comes with 14GB of hotspot so adding dun will probably not do anything, right?

I have my MSL and can edit APN using the ##DATA# command, but I'm used to Samsung phones, and you just added dun to each setting (LTE, EVDO, etc...) but the V20's menu and options are set up a bit differently than any Samsung I ever had. So where does the DUN go?
I have my MSL also and I am trying to figure out where does the dun go. It was easy to do on my Note 4.
I am having DNS issues when trying to connect to my Hotspot from both my PS4 and my Windows 10 computer using the native hotspot on my LS997. Any suggestions?
So can anyone tell me how to access the apns

yes. I would rather it be an app in the app drawer, but now it's in settings. I put a shortcut to it on my home screen with nova launcher.
This might be a stupid question, but I have unlimited data and does Verizon still charging extra for hotspot for us that have unlimited data?
You have to pay for the tethering service unless you have a hack, but I pay for the tethering service only because i dont want verzion to have an excuse to cut me off. Last month I used 122gigs.

Thanks for finding it.. I am also fond it now..
Got this from the G2 thread so I take no credit. Just tried it out and it works 100% thought I'd share.
What you'll need:
Root
Root explorer (or something similar)
SQLite editor
1. Activate the hot spot initially in the user interface settings, once it rejects to turn on the hotspot.
2. In root explorer goto data>data>com.android.provider.settings>system>databases>settings.db>systen
3. Press search button then type tether
4. Tap on tether_entitlement_check_state goto the value and edit to 0. Save then reboot phone.
All done. Below is the original G2 thread so make sure to give thanks over there.

It also depends if sprint uses the hot spot provision apk (or whatever they might call it). If they do you can use xposed and x tether to get around it by freezing the provision apk with titanium back up and installing xposed frame work that the x tether module. Below is how they did it for the Galaxy S5.

It all depends on how they tether. If they use an app to verify tether then no but if it's a simple number value ran against their systems like how AT&T is then yes. If you have tibu I'd do a search in there for the word tether and see if they use an app to verify you

No way to fix it, it's locked down via Sprint. Older firmware revisions didn't have it locked. Believe me, I'd love to change mine as well so I could use Hangouts or some other txt msg app and send picture messages on wifi.

Activities? It is too level under Settings. You won't confirm whether it is locked to Sprint or not, but it would seem so. Mine isn't. If you can't add a new APN by clicking the + icon then probably not.

Probably not, but I'd think you'd know whether it was before you bought it. I can't begin to guess what the issue is since you can't directly access APN settings by going to settings, and I've never seen 'Activities' or whatever it was you used to access your settings. Normally you'd go to settings and get to mobile networks from there.
I don't know anything about Sprint but if you do a little research online, I think you'll find that if Sprint users on non-LTE networks or using project Fi don't have access to edit APNs normally. You probably need to go to a Sprint forum or contact them. Good luck.

Post updated 7/28/17
This method was borrowed from another thread.
Thanks to @heathmcabee for this.
It's not my discovery but I'm sharing the write up here since we already have a thread about this.
Copied and pasted and I've verified that it works.
Open quick shortcut maker
Enter "test" into the search box (without quotes)
Select the last entry (com.test.LTEfunctionality)
Once it expands, select the last entry
Tap on "try"
Scroll to and select the entry that says "APN setting"
Tap the entry that's already selected (blue dot)
Scroll down to "APN type"
In the box, it'll say "default, mms"
Tap the box and change it to read "default, mms, dun"
Make sure there's no quotes or spaces.
Tap the three dot menu on the very top right and select save.
Profit.
Hit thanks if this helps [emoji4]
