So we don't have Advanced Power Menu mods yet.
And most of you probably already know this tip, but somehow, I only just now learned it.
So in case some of you don't know it.. here it is.
You want to go into Bootloader or Recovery.
But you're annoyed that you have to first shut down the phone.
Wait a few moments.
And then press Power-On + Volume Button to get where you're going.
Turns out, all you have to do is Reboot the phone.
Then the moment the screen turns off, you press Power-Button and Volume-Down buttons together.
And boom, it gets you right into the Bootloader without hesitation.
It may take a few tries to get the timing just right.
EDIT: @flex360 says we don't even need to hold the power button when pressing volume down. I just checked. He's right and that's even easier!
If you use the ROM Toolbox widget you can have icons that boot into bootloader, recover, fast reboot etc. Just as effective as the boot menu. I have them on a separate home screen page.
You can also use the twrp app to reboot into whichever one you want.
If you've su, then get terminal Emulator from PS.
su - hit enter, give root, then ~
reboot - hit enter [For a normal reboot]
reboot recovery - hit enter [it'll take you to the recovery mode]
reboot bootloader - hit enter [as usual, you got it right?]
adb reboot bootloader
adb reboot recovery
WETA audio mod has WETA reboot APM included.
I've removed the Pixel nav bar and replaced with LMT pie. Just set WETA reboot to one of the long press buttons.
Works beautifully.

I've never had to wait so long for a custom ROM on any of my phones, so I'm finding out all sorts of neat stock ROM tricks right now.
If youre rooted you can just install QuickBoot. done
Advanced Reboot App
I like advanced power menu appt, but soft reboot isn't working. Looks so nice and use it the way you would normally not like weta where it's a separate app.

Hello
i forgot the unlock "muster" not the password this other thing to unlock dont know in english sorry ...and i forgot my google account and now i cant unlock my phone...got any1 a idea?

Every idea consists of knowing your google account. Could be possible to retrieve things with adb from 2nt-intit.
and how i do this ? or root it ? but i cant install usb driver or so...
First google how to get/use adb.
Then search how to disable the lock u have.
f.i. sim lock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409304
Then go to 2nt-init (blue let on startup => vol down) => something with adb
....
....
Could always flash your sbf again check before you flash, should clear it up, or normally you can call your provider if you've forgotten your pin code ask them for a PUK (its basically the back up pin)
Good luck

I think he means the unlock pattern. If you are on stock rom, your only option is to do a factory reset. (see all in defy beginners guide how to wipe data). But then you lose ALL your data.
If you're on CM7, I think you can do it without loosing a thing.
its the pattern...i try to get into the recovery modus yeah i am on the stock rom...but when i try to get into the recovery modus i get a bad symbole..i cant enter it :/
Do you mean the android and the triangle? Volume + and volume - at same time should get you the options,
Having just tried everything I can think of, data wipe and restore for contacts ect, your stuck with a factory reset
teamwork makes the dream work
yeah this..u are right..but how i factory reset it when i cant enter the recovery and i cant enter into the phone ?
From the All-in-one Defy Beginners guide:
How do I enter Recovery Mode?!: With the Phone off press VOLUME DOWN then, while still pressed, power up the phone and leave VOL key pressed until you see a Yellow triangle, once you see this you are in Recovery now press Vol Up and Vol Down at the same time (if you are in Froyo) and the menu will appear, if you are on Éclair the menu should appear without having to press anything.
Turn the phone off, hold volume - and then press the pwr button keep volume - held until you see the

And then press Both volume up and down at the same time

I couldn't find any information about how to get into download mode using any method other than using ADB and thougth to myself, "There has to be a key combination" so I had a play around and there is.
DOWNLOAD MODE:
1) Power down the camera.
2) Whilst holding down the Shutter Button press an hold the power button.
You will then see the following screen.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then just follow the on screen instructions.
In fact, you can do it using the zoom rocker too.
Now, I have been trying to find a combo to get into recovery, I have got it to flash up, but not stay, so it has to be in there, just a case of figuring it out.
UPDATE:
I've figured it out!
To get into RECOVERY MODE:
Make sure the camera is off first.
1) Press the shutter button HALF WAY IN and keep it held in that position.
2) Press the power button until you see it turn on then let it go, but keep the shutter button in the half way position.
You will then enter Recovery.
I keep doing this accidentally, so it wasn't hard for me to find . Must be something about the way I'm holding the camera sometimes when powering up.
I've figured out the combination to get into recovery, first post updated.

Thanks for this! I'm trying to help someone recover from a bad stock update and we could find the info anywhere on how to get to recovery mode.
Ok guys. I tried all your suggestions and none work. I will tell you which one does. Download quickboot from play store and it allows you to tap on option to go into recovery. Works like a charm. none of this other nonsense.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to fully restore the tablet. For example, to open it up, get the sd card and format it and I'm pretty sure there will be a stock image

(( no, that did'nt help..
Try holding both volume buttons down at the same time, then press and hold power button. See if that will put you into the OEM recovery screen that may have the option to do a factory reset or flash a ROM from an external SD. Keep playing around with combinations of this procedure, it may be your best bet.
I tried with holding volume down, volume plus then power, ...then only volume plus then power button, and every possible way of pressing thorugh.. now after these..now it seems to be fully dead... Anywa when i connect to pc.. it makes a sound on pc.. like connected.. but when i type adb shell on cmnt promt.. it says..
-Exes/system/bin/sh not found ..or something like.that.....
Now what should i do....,:-s

Hello everyone,
I need some help. I was using package disabler to disable some apps and I accidentally disabled Android System. This is now causing the phone not to boot pass the ATT logo screen. The phone is vibrating multiple times like it would normally do when starting up but it is not going pass the ATT logo. Any ideas how I can possibly fix this without resetting my phone? I am not rooted and am on the latest update from ATT.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion....i have tried to get it to boot into safe mode but it isnt working....i am not sure if I am doing it wrong or just that the phone is so screwed up that its not going into it....thanks tho!
You may just have to face the fact that a factory reset is necessary. Not ideal I know, but short of getting safe mode to work it looks to be your only option...

Restart the phone using volume down and the power button.
After the screen turns off but before it turns back on, let go of volume down and hold volume up instead along with your power button.
Either wipe your phone or format data from there. (Either option will leave you factory fresh in this case)
Unless you wanna use odin to push the update instead of relying on the inbuilt updater.
In which case you hold volume up and down along with the power button before using a computer to do your update.

So it should revert back to its original firmware?
Always wondered about this situation on unrooted phones. It can happen too easily with auto flashing.
