sms text messages are not showing up in the main conversation window. how ever they are being received to the handset and i can read them from the notification to a certain amount of characters and i can see the latest message before the main conversation window.
nexus 4 android 4.2.2.
First bug is more important to me.
Second bug is a software screen error (it is not the screen itself that is at fault)
I have small moving lines just below the clock. it shows up all the time 2 or 3px height and from battery to the right of the screen. seemingly random moving lines. blue/black. any rotation/screen shot still shows this error so as i said it rules out that its a screen issue/dead pixels.
- see attachment.
note: restarting my phone does not fix any of those two bugs.
p.s. my english skills are not great so sorry about grammar.
Thanks in advance - James.P
So I just got an S4 on Friday, and I've been customizing things and playing with it all weekend. I haven't done any changing of the software like I usually come to xda to do, just played with the stock everything.
When I get a text, my phone doesn't light up, only the little LED does (I've seen the option to turn the LED on/off for notifications) and then when I turn the screen on manually by hitting the power button, I have to click the text message, THEN pick my finger up, go towards the bottom of the screen, and swipe it there? It's a total of 3 gestures (click, click, swipe) to open my phone to a recent text IF I hear my notification. Most of the time I'm gaming and have headphones on, or am watching TV or something and see the screen light up on my phone and go straight to the text.
My S2 I had last week showed up a little envelope that I swiped and it went straight to the new text message I received. This was after the screen lit up upon arrival of the message initially. This took 1 gesture of effort on my part to open a text.
Has anyone else experienced/noticed this, and if so, does anyone know how to fix this? If I'm not being clear enough please let me know. Thanks in advance guys.
that's generally the way all android phones work.
if you want to, download handcent and use that for your texting. you can enable the popup and customize how long it opens the screen for i.e. 5 sec 10 sec or 20 sec

I'll take your word for it, it's just that I've owned 2 android phones and 50% of them worked right and 50% of them are being obnoxious just to open a text. My phone lights up when someone calls, why wouldn't it light up when I get a text, like every other phone I've ever owned? I just feel really bummed about my purchase. Texting is 75% of what I use my phone for, and it's annoying as hell on this one. I'll check out handcent though, I really appreciate the suggestion. Thanks
**edit**
If there's a way to just get stock to work right, I'd most definitely prefer that. If I HAVE to use some 3rd party app to text, I guess I'll settle for that.

Mate you're lucky. I hate my screen lighting up when I receive a text! So much so I installed a mod on my S3 to disable it.
But my S4 on stock ROM lights the screen up whenever I get a text.
I would suggest you to do a factory reset, that should sort it hopefully.

my motorola phones have never popped up with text messages, it wastes battery especially when you cant look at it right away. besides is it so hard to just open the phone up and look? lol
These two things really bug me and I'm very curious if samsung did something about if with an Android 4.3 out of the box phone. Can any note 3 owners confirm?
1) Defaults.
In 4.1, Google changed the look of the screen that says "open with." problem is, it made it that it took a few more clicks to actually get finished with that screen, so I think in 4.2, they added a feature that the last app you used, is already auto selected, and you just press OK. Samsung never added this feature.
2)Text message notification.
In Aosp (nexus) When you get a text message, the notification area gives you 3 options, reply, read, and call. Samsung never added this. Its extremely annoying because aside from the usefulness of reply and call, without a read button, they start to build up even if you swipe it away. And the next text you get will show up and lump together with the other one. You need to manually go in and click on each message. This is primarily the reason why I use Sliding Messaging.
So?
Hello,
I am coming from the V10 and hade a note 4 edge prior to that. It is amazing how quickly I lost my familiarization with Samsung devices!
I have a few things that are bothersome or cumbersome and wondering if someone has any advice.
#1 - I have a security camera system that sends me photos of motions and trips via text (mms) message. I prefer to not be notified when one arrives, but like it available for review if needed. If I select the turn off notifications for that conversation, I still get a vibrate and new message indicator and it also pushes the notification through to my Huawei watch.
#2 - I went back to the google text app of messenger because of issue #1 but then realized I loss the edge functionality for text messages - is there no way to get the edge blip for each person texting without using the default app?
#3 - finally, I have an LED again! I downloaded the trusty app I always used on my previous phones, Liteflow to manage colors for different contacts. the LED does not want to play ball and it appears that only the initial blink will be my desired color and the rest all fall back to the blue. Does anyone know of a working app for this type of thing?
#4 - after every reboot I have to acknowledge that listening to loud volumes can damage my ears... when I get into my car. any way to disable this?
#5 - last but not least, every reboot I have a notification that my SD Card is for storing photos and apps.... I am aware of its purpose! why is this showing up every reboot?
Thanks in advance!
Derek
I'm sure this is a simple fix, but it has confounded me, so I turn to you for some help. How do I get the Moto on the latest version of AW to vibrate like normal, but rather than display the full screen notification, just the smaller card across the bottom? There are times on the 46,, Moto I don't want the message displayed without me swiping up to display it. I've looked all over and I can't find that setting.
I can see the whole "hide cards" and what not, but when I get a new notification, it fills up the entire screen.
Thanks in advance!
Same problem here. When I receive whatsapps sometimes I can see the full screen notification message and most of times I see a small notification at the bottom and I need to swipe up to see it. Samsung Gear S with newest Android Wear version and Note 3. Any help with this?
Any ideas? I can't believe there's no way to control this, or no one else sees it as a problem? With the 46mm watch it's a BIG screen, making the entire message visible to anyone within eyeshot
